This is a fun one. Fist of the North Star is an anime/manga from the 80s and the Like a Dragon team managed to get ahold of the IP to make a game for it. They used all the JP voice actors from the other Yakuza games to play characters from the OG series. Which is why Kenshiro the lead character seems a little like Kiryu, cause he’s voiced by the same guy. And the series itself is inspired by Mad Max/Bruce Lee. It’s their original telling of some of the story, so they had creative license to make it a Yakuza game basically.
Speaking of King Diamond, the original theme and opening of the anime was by Crystal King, and they had high pitched vocals. Which is why this version of Receive You is like this.
Man this game has much more bangers in it, it is an absolute CRIME that it's STILL PS4-only !!!
It's Backward Compatible with PS5.
@@jamcalx Well I meant that there is no PC port, that's the part that sucks.
@gnerus1972 yeah. You'd think it would have had a chance at wider release by now.
The license is definitely not cheap, probably why it hasn't hit things like PC or Xbox.
This one is a banger.
So glad somebody besides me suggested music from this game!
Fist of The North Star is one of my favorite manga/anime franchises.
The Fist of the North Star manga has some very clear Rock & Metal aspects to them. In fact, there were a lot of anime and manga at the time that took elements from Metal iconography. (Stuff like Bastard!!, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Berserk, etc.) And in turn, they themselves inspired and shaped a lot of future metal bands. (Rise of The North Star being directly influenced by Fist.)
Fist of the North Star is a great old school Anime/Manga. The main character can poke people and make their heads explode. This game was a fun yakuza style beat em up.
FoTNS is where the ""Omae Wa Mou Shindeiru"" "NANI?!" came from, great song
Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise is a PS4 exclusive game loosely following the events of the anime/manga Fist of the North Star, AKA Hokuto no Ken. The key distinction is that the game was adapted by the RGG team, who also did the Yakuza/Like a Dragon games, which is why there's a version of Receive You in it. The game also has a ton of other hallmarks of the Yakuza games, including lots of sidequests and minigames, wacky characters, and a truly excessive amount of grinding beyond what is actually necessary to finish the game.
The basic premise of Fist of the North Star is this: Kenshiro is the successor of the Hokuto Shinken martial arts style, who was nearly killed by one of his brothers out of jealousy because *he* wanted to be the successor instead. The love of his life, Yuria, was kidnapped, and he spends much of the manga (and most of the video game) attempting to track her down. Along the way, he fights bandits and marauders across a post-apocalyptic landscape clearly inspired by things like Mad Max and Heavy Metal, using his superior martial arts to defeat enemies, often in extremely gruesome ways.
Given all that, I will give a serious content warning for anything Fist of the North Star related, because Kenshiro's preferred methods for killing enemies are gory to the point of being nearly comical. Heads and limbs regularly explode, and it is not uncommon for enemies to spurt out a literal fountain of blood. If such things upset you, stay clear.
The best Receive You of the series hands down!
The actual name of the yakuza series in japan is called "Ryu ga gotoku" but localized it for the rest of the world as "Yakuza" but "ryu ga gotoku" stands for "like a dragon". FOTNS Lost Paradise was made by the same company, and it being based off the manga called Hokuto No ken or fist of the north star. They decided to call the game in japan "Hokuto ga gotoku" which means "Like a north star" or "Like a big dipper"
Those arent bullet holes, they're ACTUALLY finger holes. Lol
While I've only seen a few episodes of Fist of the North Star, it seems very similar to Yakuza in that it's very over the top and goofy, but it can also be very serious and emotional (from what I hear). It's such a seminal manga and anime, influences can still be seen today and I think it's still one of the biggest-selling series worldwide ever. Apparently, Miura was influenced too, and he made Berserk which is also incredibly influential to so many works that came after it.
FotNS is a manga series that was published from 1983 to 1988, written by Buronson and illustrated by Tetsuo Hara. It was heavily inspired by Mad Max. It's like Mad Max with super-martial arts. Also, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure's early artstyle (Parts 1-2) is basically lifted from FotNS.
Such an underappreciated game with such a banger-laden soundtrack
Oh man, it's been so long that I almost forgot about those requests :D
I'm so glad that you enjoyed it. So basically this game is based on manga Fist of the North Star and it plays like a Yakuza series (same developer), but here is much more blood and graphics is more stylized. While I enjoy Yakuza, Fist of the North Star is mediocore in my opnion, but it have pretty banger songs.
"This characters arms are bigger than his head"
And Kenshiro is actually on the slim side ^^.
Fist of the North Star is basically Mad Max but with creatine infused Bruce Lee as the protagonist, and that's all it ever needed to be.
Omae wa mou shindeiru,
Nani?
🤯
If you do end up getting more Lost Paradise suggestions, you're probably going to have a lot of fun. Especially with the boss themes.
Targa's theme is absolutely amazing, but my personal favorite is Souther's theme - it's bangin'
Hell yeah!
Basically its an vintage anime tie-in game where they reworked a lot of parts of the series and its own original story to be centered around a city.
At its core, its a Yakuza game but with a blood and gore.
Usually this one is designated "Recieve You (North Star)"
In-game, this is one of the cassette you can play in the dune buggy while driving through the wasteland.
blazing through the desert on your buggy with this song on repeat is beak Yakuza
Gotta do the other songs in this game. Especially Jagi's theme
You gotta react to Jagi's theme from this game
It’s basically a Yakuza game doing an anime cosplay
Sorry I keep commenting but those arent bullet holes, those are scars that the main character has on his chest, its suppose to look like the big dipper constellation, idk why the put it in the letters, it does make them look like bullet holes
No Mad Max = No Hokuto no Ken
No Hokuto no Ken = No JOJO
