Fun fact: you definitely have heard the original, albeit just for a short moment! It's the theme which plays when Kiryu and Majima meet for the first time. I won't say anything about the other ones because that's spoiler territory, lol. Hope we see you play Kiwami at some point, I really enjoyed your Yakuza 0 playthrough!!
The Yakuza 0 Tech Trance Arrange version is only available to be heard after completing Kiryu's entire real estate minigame thing, so I don't think you heard that one. Saying Ver.7 has a callback feeling is right on the money. Maybe when you play Like a Dragon in 10 years you'll feel the same way :D
So for some clarification. There's two different versions Receive You. The first two songs and the last (Original, 0, and Like A Dragon ones), are all centered around Kiryu. The 3rd and 4th (Yakuza 4, and first Like A Dragon), are centered around Majima, and not Kiryu. That's why those two sounded so different than the rest.
To add onto this, basically every time you fight Majima his boss theme is a remix of Receive You. Even in spin-off games where "his" character appears (Like a Dragon: Kenzan! and Ishin!)
For some context: Receive You is the original theme song for Yakuza 1, and was used for both its first advertisement and its title screen. So it was quite literally one of the first things ever publicly known about the Yakuza series. The Yakuza 0 version, the tech trance arrange, only plays in *very* specific circumstances, and yes, you would've had to have delved deep into the minigames and substories to be able to get a chance to hear it. It's worth it, however, imo. The Yakuza 4 version, Receive and Bite You, is much more Majima's theme, and plays during a major fight where he is involved. Likewise, the Yakuza 7 version, Receive You the Hyperactive, is meant to call back to Majima more than Kiryu.
Some real heavy hitting songs here. Receive You is kind of the main theme of the series but you can usually tell which theme is for who based on the vocal leitmotifs. "Rolling eyes fall, ruling dies out" is for Kiryu while "showdown, falls down" is for Majima. I'm so glad you got to hear Receive You The Hyperactive though, that's a contender for best song in all of Yakuza for me.
Receive You is such a versatile theme, everytime there’s a new version it always perfectly suits its use. Some of my favourites that are covered here are the Tech Trance Arrange, which fits really well as a battle theme for a younger, spirited Kiryu. Receive and Bite You which perfectly suits Majima’s mad dog persona and the crazy energy of his Y4 boss battle. Recieve You the Hyperactive, which has a more upbeat tone to match Majima being in a much better place with his life.
All this saga is a big experience. Everytime I hear a song I get flashbacks of the moments they're associated to. It's more than just the song, replaying those iconic moments in my mind gets me so excited.
You kind of rushed through Yakiuza 0 so you haven't heard that one. This plays when you finish the real estate minigame and is the battle music of the dragon style.
Receive bite you is so goated, it’s basically Majima’s official theme now. It was the first Receive I ever heard, playing Yakuza 4 on the PS3 when it came out as my intro to the series
Yeah, its generally considered the main theme of the series, as some form of it is in basically every game (usually reserved for fighting Majima). You did hear it in the absolute last scene of Yakuza 0 when Kiryu and Majima finally encountered each other, but just the intro. Ver. 7's actual OST name is something like "Rolling Eyes Fall Over The Dragon's Wall", and "Ver. 7" was just the community placeholder name. Receive you "the Prototype", "Subtype", "Madtype", "and Slash You" are the ones you are that come to mind you haven't heard yet, so lots to look forward to.
Receive you is both Kiryu and Majima themes, the ones with the "Rolling eyes falls" chant is Kiryu's while Majima has the "showdown" chant. There's a lot of Receive you variations between the 2 characters thru out the series.
12:39 This specific version was composed by 83key who also composed War Maker, which I remember you reacted to on your channel about ten or eleven months ago.
There's another version in Yakuza 0 called "Receive You The Subtype" which is Majima's mirror to the Kiryu version here. The 0 and Like A Dragon versions immediately went straight on my playlists when I first heard them, though every version in each game is pretty good. Helps that they matched the hype level of the moments they play in.
I've never experienced that in a turn based, where the context and music made the combat feel as pressing, immediate and overwhelming as real time combat. That's the fight for The Hyperactive I'm talking about (no spoilers)
@12:00 There’s an electronic music group called The Prodigy that we’re an influence on the original composers. And you were very close. Its house/EDM with heavier distortion…makes you want to dance and KICK ASS.
Ah yes, the de facto theme of the Yakuza Series. Remixed in almost every game (Judgment series, 6 and Like a Dragon: Gaiden being the exception) either as the intro or as someone's battle theme. It even appears in both Samurai spin-offs and the Fist of the North Star game made by RGG! Real shame you can't react to the Yakuza Kiwami 1 Intro version, since that one is copyrighted and made by a popular Japanese rock duo called [B'z] - it was used in the original Japanese intro for the game. (It's called [Receive You Reborn] if you wanna listen to it yourself)
Great selection of tracks. These were definitely my top choices for you to check out as well, so good job to the ones who picked 'em 👍 If you're interested in more versions, I recommend: "Receive You Reborn" (Yakuza Kiwami) "Receive and Stab You" (Yakuza 3) "Receive and Slash You" (Yakuza 5) "Receive you The Archetype" (Yakuza Ishin) "Receive and Doubt You" (Yakuza Ishin) Edit: You heard a bit of the original Receive You at the very end of Yakuza 0, yeah. You didn't hear Tech Trance since it's tied to Kiryu's secret fighting style that you unlock by completing the Real Estate side activity. There's also another version of the song in Zero you probably didn't hear, called "Receive You The Subtype", which is tied to Majima's secret fighting style, unlocked by completing the game's main story (aka. the Cabaret Club side activity). Although tbh, Receive You the Subtype is my least favorite of the Receive You versions, so no big loss there IMO Edit 2: Yeah, there's a version of this song in almost every game in the series. I think the only games that don't have a version of this song is Yakuza Dead Souls & 6 (which is extremely odd tbh), the Judgment series (which makes sense, since Judgment is kind of a different series) and Like a Dragon Black Panther 1 & 2 (Japan-only PSP games that were never re-released on other platforms - also makes sense since it's its own subseries of sorts)
So many versions and it's still missing one of the best ones (there's a million of them, cause the Receive Yous are Kiryu and Majima themes): Receive You The Ballad (from Yakuza 4)
Something I really like about Recieve You is that the versions that focus on Majima have male vocals and the versions that focus on Kiryu have the female vocals. The reason why the first one has both is because that song is actually about an entirely different character who you meet in Yakuza 1 (Or Kiwami).
What character is it? because from what I remember and could look up, its always associated with Kiryu and Majima, the only exceptions being the intro of Yakuza, and a fight with a potato-faced man in japanese releases of Kiwami
There's 2 versions of Receive You, one dedicated to Kiryu and the other one to Majima. Here's most of them Kiryu: - Receive You (Like a Dragon, intro song) - Receive You The Ballad (Like a Dragon 4, ending credits) - Receive and Doubt You (Like a Dragon Ishin!, vs "Majima" 2nd time) - Receive You ~Tech Trance Arrange~ (Like a Dragon 0, Legend [Dragon of Dojima] Style) - Receive You Reborn (Like a Dragon Extreme [Kiwami], intro song [Japan only]) - Rolling Eyes Fall Down the Dragon Wall (Like a Dragon 7, vs Kiryu) Majima: - Receive You The Prototype (Like a Dragon, vs Majima) - TSU-N-DE Receive You (Like a Dragon Kenzan!, vs "Majima") - Receive and Stab You (Like a Dragon 3, vs Majima) - Receive and Bite You (Like a Dragon 4, vs Majima) - Receive and Slash You (Like a Dragon 5, vs Majima) - Receive You The Archetype (Like a Dragon Ishin!, vs "Majima") - Receive You The Subtype (Like a Dragon 0, Legend [Mad Dog of Shimano] Style) - Receive You the madtype (Like a Dragon Extreme [Kiwami], vs Majima) - Receive You The Hyperactive (Like a Dragon 7, vs Majima [and Saejima]) The ones dedicated to Kiryu emphasize on the leitmotif of the original Receive You, specially recognizable for saying "Rolling eyes fall, ruling dies out". And the dedicated to Majima are different, with a similar leitmotif, but saying "Showdown, it falls down" and with occasional "screaming" or "grunting" in the background PS: Some of the videos that you reacted are edited, not badly, but aren't the original, whose can be found on the SeGa official music social media
For Hyperactive, the vocals sound much like a siren, which I feel signifies how much of a threat Majima is. Of course, Rolling Eyes Fall Down the Dragon Wall sounds the way it does because Kiryu is a threat and you should run. You are little more than a substory to him, do not engage.
a little known recieve you version but a great one is the one used for the game select screen for like a dragon 1&2 hd edition released in japan only. for anyone interested its well worth the listen! was also hoping for him to listen to the kiwami japanese only remix as stated in the title but unfortunately not, also definitely worth a listen
Before I start watching, I'm glad you're doing multiple versions of Receive You at a time, but I highly suggest the North Star version-it's one of my favorites alognside Tech Trance, Receive and Bite You, and Reborn. Oh, and the original too, of course. Something about the drums and the female vocals just feels so haunting and I love it. And you mentioned the North Star version at the end, so I'm looking forward to that reaction too lol
spoilers for yakuza 0: the receive you tech arrange plays with the secret fighting style, the dragon of dojima, which is the main style that kiryu uses in the later games. to unlock you need to complet the bussiness minigame.
Receive and Bite You is one of my favorite tracks in the series, mostly because it reminds me of Pendulum. Edit: Also it will give you whiplash since there aren't really any songs that are similar to it in Yakuza 4.
For some background, I'm like 90% sure title Receive You is used both by Majima and Kiryu themes. I like to think of them as the- "rolling eyes" version for Kiryu, and the "showdown" for Majima, since... well its the main lyric lol

Kiryu and Majima actually have their own versions of receive you, and you kinda blended them together in this video Receive and Bite You and Receive You the Hyperactive are remixes of Receive You the Prototype from Yakuza 1. Majima has his own rabbit hole of Receive You remixes tbh, worth checking out! PS: I also think the Rolling Eyes Fall Down the Dragon Wall video at the end was a fanmade mix, and not the official soundtrack. The original does not have the chorus' vocals.
Y0 is my absolute favorite of the lot. God damn, does it feel like the PERFECT fight music, which just fits the m.o. of how Kiryu handles tough problems. A runner up for my favorite is Receive You ~North Star~, which is just 80s as all fuck.
About time you got to listen to these bangers! Though on the flipside.. Is it just me or you look like devileon, who is one of the best Yakuza content creators out there. What a coincidence lmaoo
It is effectively the Main theme of the series playing in the intro of Yakuza 1 on the ps2 and being remixed to hell and back going onwards. Being remixed for every single boss fight against a certain significant recurring character also gives it a lot of weight. If you beat Yakuza 0 then you definitely heard a variation in the ending stinger as a shortened version plays there. Note that there are also versions of "Receive You" in Yakuza 3 and Yakuza 5 that weren't featured in this vid: "Receive and Stab You" and "Receive and Slash You" respectively.
If you want to hear another track with Vocals from the Yakuza franchise, there's a song I quite like from one of the Spinoffs the West never got - namely "Born to Be Wild", from "Kurohyou 2: Ryu Ga Gotoku Ashura-Hen" (the second game in this spinoff line)
you get this song when you unlock Kiryu's dragon of dojima style after completing the real estate side storyline. It's the most goated style and makes Mr.Shakedown basically your bitch.
"why does the barbed wire have electricity on it, isnt that overkill?" "...overkill?" you just described the whole yakuza series my man, dont question it
"This song is apparently a big deal." Yeah because it's Kiryu and Majima's theme song. It's either the Game's main/title theme or their battle theme with the only exception being Receive you the ballad from yakuza 4 which is the credits theme.
I'm glad you finally reacted to Like a Dragon's soundtrack. Those 2 OSTs mark the point where you as the player realises that the game's difficulty officially starts here and the game demands you to sit up straight and play properly. And also the game reminds you again why those 2 yakuzas are called the Mad Dog of Shimano and the legendary Dragon of Dojima. Fun fact: in east asian culture there's a idiom called 鱼跃龙门, which literally translates to carp jumping over the dragon's gate. Legend says that if the golden carp jumps over the gate, the carp can become a dragon. Coming over to the context of this game, the studio shifts the attention to a rookie who has a golden carp tattooed on his back, and has to overcome all the tribulations and including defeating or taking over the legacy of the legendary dragon in order to become just Like a Dragon.
Thank you for this…the Kiryu versions directly represent his devotion and quiet strength he possesses. The composers of the Yakuza games are masters at what they do.
So recieve you the hyperactive is also called Recieve and Turn You. And recieve you version 7 is also called Rolling eyes fall down the dragon wall. Typically all the recieve yous are heard during boss fights featuring majima or kiryu as a boss. My favorite one that you didn't feature is Recieve and Slash you, from yakuza 5. There's a version of recieve you in every game, even fist of the north star lost paradise which was made by the same company
(Just for Y7: Like a Dragon players) Majima's theme (Receive You the Hyperactive) sounds like a siren because it is a warning that he is a terrible and dangerous man... Kiryu's theme (Rolling Eyes Fall Down the Dragon Wall) sounds like a threat because he is a threat. Run, run away from the Dragon of Dojima.
If you listen to some more of the original Yakuza songs you'll notice a lot of vocals that are either missing or de-emphasized in the remixes. Funk Goes On (generic street combat music) is probably the one that loses the most in translation in the remixes (though that's more the instrumentals than vocals.) You absolutely heard Yakuza 0's version of Receive You. It's always part of the campaign (In every game except Zero it plays when you fight Majima)
Well SHIT. I came here to RECEIVE just one of these versions, yet you took ALL of them .____. And how, kindly sir, am I supposed to give you a six likes under a one video? :c

Tech Trance from 0 is when you unlock Dragon of Dojima style. Music plays everytime you fight, with that stance.
He knows Majima, well... He knows Manager of Cabaret Grand Majima
Every Yakuza / Like A Dragon game has a consistently amazing ost. So much more to enjoy
"why does the barbed wire have electricity on it, isnt that overkill?"
"...overkill?"
you just described the whole yakuza series my man, dont question it
He finally did it! He reacted to peak!
"This song is apparently a big deal."
Yeah because it's Kiryu and Majima's theme song. It's either the Game's main/title theme or their battle theme with the only exception being Receive you the ballad from yakuza 4 which is the credits theme.
32:24 spot on
There are like 30 different receive yous and some of them are majima boss fights themes, some are main themes and some are kiryus main themes.
18:30: "I might have to turn it up"
18:49: **instant regret**
Thank you for this…the Kiryu versions directly represent his devotion and quiet strength he possesses. The composers of the Yakuza games are masters at what they do.
I need more Yakuza ost😤
Yoooo this gonna be a W video
So recieve you the hyperactive is also called Recieve and Turn You. And recieve you version 7 is also called Rolling eyes fall down the dragon wall. Typically all the recieve yous are heard during boss fights featuring majima or kiryu as a boss. My favorite one that you didn't feature is Recieve and Slash you, from yakuza 5. There's a version of recieve you in every game, even fist of the north star lost paradise which was made by the same company
This song plays at the post credit scene yakuza 0 too
The Yakuza 0 one will always be my favorite.
13:32
Need to check out the lizzy wizzy concert from cyberpunk 2077 called "delicate weapon"
Need to make sure its the concert 4k cinematic
"Receive you" is Kiryu theme. But "Receive and ***** you" is basically Majima theme. There are like 3-4 versions of "Receive and ***** you" iirc.
If you love this, you'll for sure love the themes of the amon clan.
Love me some Yakuza.
真島兄さんのBGMになっている
(Just for Y7: Like a Dragon players)
Majima's theme (Receive You the Hyperactive) sounds like a siren because it is a warning that he is a terrible and dangerous man...
Kiryu's theme (Rolling Eyes Fall Down the Dragon Wall) sounds like a threat because he is a threat. Run, run away from the Dragon of Dojima.
I really recommend listening to Penumbra from Judgment
man i cant wait until u hear receive you and believe you
Wait no receive and stab you from 3rd?
I think the female vocal play when majima met kiryu, I think that's the closest one you heard receive you
Yo!
Kiryuuuuu-chan!
I really want to see you in another Yakuza game! The history of The Dragon Of Dojima Is Incompleted...
The original receive you is the only song I know that sings English and Spanish with a Japanese accent
Kiwami stream soon? 👀👀
This year for sure.
Hello man, react Destiny from Yakuza 6, its insane
Where's Receive And Slash You?????
