Hello there, I'm the creator of this mix. This is the first time I've ever seen a fellow TH-camr reacting to one of my videos. I'm really glad you and perhaps everyone who listens can enjoy a rather simple video.
Duuuuude this mix is fucking amazing, thank you for it. I have played the living hell out of yakuza series and i never did notice this per character music but they all go so well representing each of them so perfect
Akiyama: Money launderer but actually good? Saejima: 18 men died but not really. Tanimura: Who killed my dad?!?! Kiryu: I swear to fucking God this damned city wants me to come back here every damn time!
@@chandlercarter364 tired enough to say fuck it and and he flees alone to Fukuoka... but game is like.. "nope, papa john, you are the OG protag of the series.. Now do your damn job" "Fine.."
I'm not sure if it was already said, but one of the absolute best details about this song is that it's also a mix of four songs with meaningful names that lead into each other throughout the four final fights. "Four Face," "Four Faith," "For Face," and "For Faith." Its always been one of my favorite details about that sequence.
There are 4 different versions of the theme, representing each character. Each character represents one of the "Four Symbols" or "Four Guardians" in Japanese (and Chinese) mythology. The first character, on the far left is Akiyama. Phoenix. And also one of my favourite characters in the series. The second one next to Akiyama is Saejima, who represents a tiger. The third is Tanimura, who represents a tortoise and the final one is Kiryu, who's a dragon and the overall main protagonist of the series ... for the most part. He takes a back seat in some of the games but always shows up to kick some ass.
Sucks that the latest title of RGG (Lost Judgement) didn't get selected for best ost of the year due to the fanbase being small, but all RGG games have bangin' OST's.
The Yakuza games have exactly one speed: HARD AS HELL. No matter what the games are doing, be it crime drama or comic relief, Yakuza turns the dial to 11 and breaks it off. One minute can have you tearing up as childhood friends trade blows as their paths have pitted them against each other, and the next you could see a portly guy wearing panties like a ski mask doing spider-man parkour, just before someone punches a bear in the face. And yes, these are all things that happen in the games, maybe not in that order, but you get my point.
@da343 well to be fair if you compare Yakuza 3 combat to Yakuza 4 combat its a night and day difference. In 4 you don't got the bullshit where everyone literally blocks all of your attacks 99.9% of the time and the quick evade shit where some bosses seem to have done some crystal meth or some shit before Kiryu showed up because they can quickstep so many times that they're borderline untouchable until they stop(worst case of this being Shinzaki in the last two Reaper fights). Tanimuras fight against Munakata may have been a pain in the ass, but I'd take fighting 8 or 9 guys whilst being shot at over 3s combat any day of the week
For Faith is the main theme of Yakuza 4, and each playable character gets their own variation of it for their respective final boss. I do not recognize where the vocal version is from though. For context for the Four Gods thing, each of the 4 is suppose sacred beasts of Japanese Mythology (Dragon, Phoenix, Tiger, & Turtle). If you want a wildly different Yakuza sound - D2A from Yakuza 3. Honestly though, all versions of "Receive You" is a good follow-up to this, as its the main theme of the series.
"I think it's impossible for you guys to send me bad songs." Man, I'm so excited for the day someone gets the guts to request the Resident Evil Director's Cut Basment Theme or something from Sonic Dark Brotherhood. One day we'll get some proper trash for you to experience.
if you're wondering, the first four themes when the characters individually light up are their themes during the final fight in order of when they take place in game. The final one is an outlier which appears during the install screen on the ps3 version
Akiyama the mellow chilled elegant crane. Saijima the domineering unrelenting tiger. Tanimura the human who finds balance. Kiriyu Kazuma THE final challenge, the dragon that destroys selfish dreams and empowers the dreams of those who push themselves.
My favorite thing in OSTs is when the music is full of heavy instruments like guitars, but then lets a soft instrument like piano or violin take the lead. It always amplifies the impact of the melody, and heightens the emotions of the scene. Yoko Shimomura does that a lot with her OSTs, she does the Kingdom Hearts soundtracks and Final Fantasy 15 among other games.
As a change of pace, I'd like to hear your opinion on the Yakuza karaoke songs, which are less emotional symphonies and more the kind of stuff you can... well, belt out at a karaoke. "Baka Mitai" is the one everyone suggests, but I'd also like to hear your opinion on stuff like "Ring", "Get to the Top," "24 Hour Cinderella" and "Like a Butterfly."
Man, I always love when you can really tell the person is having fun and enjoying themselves on videos, it puts a smile on my face and that's the case here, keep it up man!
For a little context, this is a mixture of the 4 final boss themes of this game, which all are based around one centralized song called For Faith, which is the main theme of the game. The characters lighting up in the video represent their versions of the song joining and leaving the mix.
Bro how do are you able to listen too so much music. your pumping out videos like a machine lol. i appreciate all that you do, dont ever be afraid to take a break though. Thank you for giving us quality entertainment!
Unwavering Belief is an amazing track from the Yakuza spin off Lost judgement! And so is parabellum the final boss theme from the first judgement is also amazing!
The dynamic soundtracks Yakuza uses for some of its boss fights, especially the final bosses like this one, are really cool. They all mix into each other as you move from phase to transition and into the next phase, and sometimes each phase will move to a certain part for an enemy's special attack.
I should really replay 3-5, because I didn't spend nearly as much time on them as I did the other games and forget a bunch of details. The moment in 4 I think of most is Saejima's speech in the colosseum, even more than the total badass scene with the ramen shop. Just thinking about it gets me emotional.
It's crazy, I remember falling in love with the Yakuza series partly because it seemed that they were the only game series on the PS3 to do something unique with their mandatory install screens. Everything else used the PS3 system thing to install it but Yakuza games got splash screens, badass music videos and character synopses.
Oh man, you should check out "Rasen / jon-YAKITORY feat. Ado" It's a main theme(and partially used in opening) of the latest game from Yakuza creators - Lost Judgment. Set in the same place as Yakuza series, it follows the story of a private detective. That theme... definitely unburied my feelings regarding some tougher times. And what i love the most about good music and vocals, is that without knowing language, you can still understand it. And after looking up the translation, it didn't changed my perspective on a song, but reinforced it. No Spoilers ;)
thank you Jesse, without your channel, I would never know many great soundtrack exist. I never even heard of yakuza game until I watch your reaction... 😎😎😎
I'm late but, can you listen to Viper, Dig In Your Heels or Unwavering Belief from Lost Judgment? Lost Judgment is a spin-off game of Yakuza, the soundtrack is phenomenal, especially the boss themes
This thing of having different versions of the same song to represent characters reminded me of Thems Fightin's Herds. It's a fighting game with an awesome dynamic soundtrack, each music in a stage has a normal version, but changes instruments depending on which character is winning. There's like 9 variations for each one. I think I've never seen anyone react to TFH's ost because of what the game is, It's a fighting game, but the characters are all animals and has a cartoony art style, making people dismiss it as either a furry game, or a my little pony game. Which is a shame because the soundtrack is a banger. But anyway, nice reaction, I hope to see you react to more Yakuza soundtracks. I saw that Two Dragons is on the way, I can't wait! It's probably on my top favorite tracks in Yakuza 0.
