- TWO HOURS IN DEATH ZONE | Kanchenjunga Summit @8586m | International Mountain Day Special #DeathZone
We had to spend two hours at Kanchenjunga Summit at 8586m altitude on 21st May 2018. Altitudes above 8000 meters are considered death zone because the air is so thin that it gets very difficult to breathe. Air pressure and thus oxygen is one-third of what we experience at normal altitudes. Watch this video to see how a team of ONGC employees climbed the Summit of the world's third highest and India's highest peak in just eight and a half hours from Summit Camp and stayed there for two hours.

The current cost of climbing Kanchenjunga should be around 15-20 lakhs INR

There is no one to grant permission or stop you there on the summit. Mountaineers avoid the last few metres on all mountain tops because it is generally a "Cornice" (Google it), which might break if we stand on it .

Hey Rahul.. I am Arun, your college mate from 2012 batch (i was in ECE). I’ve been recently watching a lot of mountaineering expidition videos & came across your page. Extermely proud of you doing Everest & Kanchanjunga in a couple of years. I saw sunrise at Kanchanjunga from Darjeeling a few months back & it was serene… but super amazed seeing you watching the sunrise from the top of the summit, hats off man haha. I have a question though: Why is it that you reached the summit so late? Typically they say best is to reach by afternoon & return by early evenings. Wasn’t it dangerous to spend night at the summit? thanks for the appreciation bro! It means a lot. Actually we didn't reach late we reached quite early. Half of our team climbed a day earlier than us. It took about 14 hours to reach the summit from Camp-4 which is at 7200mtrs altitude. They started climbing at 7pm and reached around 9am in the morning. That's the time most people reach the summit.
When we climbed the next day. We also started at 7pm from Camp-4 but we climbed much faster and reached the summit at about 3am covering the 1200mtrs climb in just 8 hours.
It was dark when we reached that's why we stayed for 2 hrs on the summit so that we could witness the sunrise and click good pictures from the summit.

Hi Sujata! 8000m ki expeditions expensive hoti hain.
Everest Expedition me 20-25 Lakhs INR lag jate hain & Kanchenjunga Expedition me 12-15 lakh INR. Manaslu vgera me 10 lakhs. It varies from peak to peak.

If you Trekk Kanchenjunga to Everest base camp how much time it takes
It takes around 8-9 days from the road head
Minimum cost for 1 member?
Cost of climbing varies from mountain to mountain. Like climbing Everest costs 25-30lakhs, kanchenjunga and other 8000 m peaks cost from 10-15 lakhs. You'll have to ask your expedition operator about it.
