    _Wasshoi wasshoi!_

    Welcome back to BabyMetal's journey.
We got another banger for Japanese festival or any festival around, they performed this in the World Tour, currently at the Europe & UK Tour and getting the crowd going bonkers with this.
The live debut was at Apocrypha - Another One exclusive show prior to the track release, it was fun and totally unexpected, everyone was having a blast and even started with a Kami Band solo after a while without it.
There's a live proshot version at Summer Sonic Festival in Osaka released in the official summer sonic. You'll notice some slight difference between the live and the studio album.
The song title is Metali!! (metal + matsuri, which is a Japanese festival) and you can hear it in the spoken section when MomoMetal is doing the Kabuki moves style.
Just so you know "wasshoi" is another shout used in Japanese festivals when men are carrying the shrine, similar to sore and soya in Megitsune and Karate. The traditional Japanese instrument you can hear in the beginning is a shamizen, also used in Megitsune.
I can totally see why they pick Tom Morello on this, the groove, the catchiness, the super energetic jump and those typical 90's vibes at funk or alternative metal live concerts.
Thanks for sharing this and see you next time.🦊🤘🎸

1:42 honestly, Babymetal is really good at extracting the essence of a style or genre and then creating their own variant in a way I've never seen before, so maybe not. As was said in an interview: for a project like this we create a song in a way that it's obvious it needs this feature because that's the missing part of the puzzle.

2:27 This song is not part of the latest album, we assume it will be on the next/upcoming album.
The latest album was a concept album and did not have songs like this, the song you watched was made for live performances, with lots of audience participation. And there were none on that album. Very unusual for Babymetal.

7:52 yes, from an interview I gather this is totally on Tom, he came up with the idea of doing that himself.

    Great reaction, thanks!
This is all about having fun, singing and dancing at festivals (matsuri). And for what I know it's absolute madness live... and I'm going to experience it next week... twice! 🤯
    Until next time!

"Wasshoi! Wasshoi! Wasshoi! Wasshoi!“ Welcome back, great reaction - and don't believe anybody who says BABYMETAL have changed direction or gone serious or whatever, they released a concept album was all, we can't second guess what direction they might take next.
The live performances of this have been completely wild and the crowds on the US and Canada tour were going nuts! They are doing the same in Europe now. 🤘🤪🤘
You were right, that is a shamisen playing throughout, but you were mistaken thinking the guitars were Tom Morello before he appeared on screen, that was whoever records the studio versions for BABYMETAL (with just one known exception, guitarist Leda Cygnus has played guitar and bass in some studio recordings, the Kami Band only play live shows).
This is what Tom Morello had to say about this collaboration:
"I am a big fan of BABYMETAL, a band that is both power rocking and constantly surprising with dizzying musical twists and turns. I've been trying to work with them for some time and when they sent me the demo of 'Metali!!' I knew I could rock that shit like crazy!"
The song title translates as 'Metali' (or 'Metari') which is a fusion of the words metal and matsuri (festival). The song is about a Metal Village holding a metal festival, so they have included all the matsuri shouts everybody would be calling out as encouragement to the people carrying heavy floats etc like "Sore, Sore", "Dokoisho" and "Wasshoi!".
They are inviting us all to dance - I am reliably informed there is something in the lyrics (Su sings it and it is in Momometal's kabuki section) about we are all idiots or fools - the idiots who watch and the idiots who dance ... so as we're all here and we're all idiots why just watch, we may as well all dance.
They have a few more collaborations with western artists including Tim Henson and Scott Le Page from Polyphia on 'Brand New Day', Alyssa White-Gluz from Arch Enemy provides guest vocal screams on 'Distortion', Joakim Broden from Sabaton is guest vocalist on 'Oh! Majinai' and BABYMETAL featured on Bring Me The Horizon's song 'Kingslayer'.
'Kingslayer' was recorded in 2020, BMTH hosted a series of 4 festivals in Japan about a month ago with BABYMETAL in the line up - BABYMETAL joined BMTH on stage at all 4 events to perform 'Kinslayer' live for the first time. Omajination has posted a good compilation using some of the best fancam videos from those 4 performances.

"...experimenting from the very beginning"? It seems to me that you haven't reacted to too much of BABYMETAL's beginning. Have you reacted to their first two music videos "Doki Doki Morning" and "Iine!"? That's the very beginning. BABYMETAL has over sixty songs and you've reacted to how many? Six? This will make seven? You make some rather sweeping statements for someone with limited experience of BABYMETAL. Unless you've taken in more BABYMETAL than demonstrated in previous reaction videos. Also, remember, this is a BABYMETAL song featuring Tom Morello, NOT a Tom Morello song featuring BABYMETAL.
In fact, this track is very reminiscent of their earlier work in that this makes listening to metal fun, and their earlier work was just that. Their latest album "The Other One" departed from the kawaii metal that they had in their first three albums.
With this song, BABYMETAL HAS GOT THEIR KAWAII BACK!!! (And I sincerely hope that they don't misplace it again!)
(This music video would have been so much better had they not had Vin Diesel in the background wearing a panama hat and pretending to play guitar. 😁 )
    Keep rockin’ BABYMETAL!!!
    KITSUNE UP!!! 🤘🦊🤘

This song sounds so much like the baby metal from before that the fans loved having this sound again, it reminds us of Megitsune, but the new songs from BM have a more mature air, which is great because we have a little of everything. I recommended DIVINE ATTACK i love this song, SUMETAL wrotes the lyrics

Thanks from Japan 有難う 💛。This song was one in the setlist that was performed in the North American tour (29 gigs) with Dethklok and kept blasting the audience at every venue. In the ongoing EU / UK as well (20 gigs).
The title is a synthesized word from two words : "Metal" and "Matsuri 祭 (festival)" → Metali. And if you want to know the deep meaning of the lyrics please check Professor Hartley's channel (Andrew Hartley).
At the actual venues, this song followed after an intro by Western (American) Kami Band's cool instrumental solos. I got hyped like an idiot in the simplicity of this song. Momometal's extravagant elocution and moves in Kabuki style (and her growl in live show) gave an amazing accent in the exciting repetitiveness. The repeating わっしょい "Wasshoi" is a call or yell used in Japanese Matsuri (festival). It is a kind of phrase to intensify people's excitement and especially to encourage the power of guys who are carrying a heavy Mikoshi on their shoulder that is a kind of a float in Western style festivals.

The slightly high-note stringed riffs in the song is 'Shamisen'. This is three-stringed instrument, shaped like American banjo.
The masks worn by the back dancers in the MV, they are called 'Hyottoko', and although the production is somewhat creepy in the MV, they are essentially masks often worn at fun festivals.

Strange how the Kami band have been playing the riffs for 49 shows without the help of Tom Morello.

What a braindead comment, he's only talking about how the riff's compositional style is different. You trolls really love to make conflict where there isn't one 🤦🏼

That Tom Morello part played on backtrack tbh

    • @Filboid2000
      @Filboid2000 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

Although it is strictly my opinion, I think Tom Morello got involved for two reasons: first, it is my understanding that he's been interested in doing a collab with BABYMETAL for a while; second, it gives BABYMETAL an opportunity to be exposed to another potential audience, just like when they collaborated with Lil Uzi Vert (it seemed that the number of blacks reacting to BABYMETAL after that spiked). Now I'm not going to say anything about Mr. Morello's ability or talent simply because I never heard of him before this collab (but I have heard of Rage Against The Machine) but the guitarists in The Kami Band are no slouches and I figure if they can play a song that Herman Li help to write ("Road of Resistance"), then they could easily pluck the strings to a Morello collab. 🤘🦊🤘
