Precisely. Most people don’t notice a watch - gold or otherwise. Yellow gold is, however, the gold watch to own if you only own one gold piece…NOT white gold. That’s a second purchase. Rose and white gold go through trendy periods but yellow gold is timeless, classic, always in good taste, and easy to sell.

For those with expensive watches who live *in cities with higher risk of being robbed,* I've wondered if they'd be wise to wear a *'decoy watch'* when they're on the street? To clarify solid gold watches are not “pure” gold but rather alloys of other metals. The lower the karat the lower the content of pure gold. However the difference in harness between 10k and 18k is fairly low but the price difference should be huge.
One of the few brands today that consistently does gold well is Cartier. It helps that they design general jewelry too, but honestly I haven't seen a modern gold or two tone Cartier I didn't like.
I had kind of hoped you would have discussed gold filled, gold plate, acid testing, karat weights, and other things relevant to buying vintage gold watches particularly. Those would be what I would want to know before buying, maybe you could consider covering them in a future video?
I think this series serves your viewers well. It's good to be an informed buyer. A leather strap really brings down the bling factor to my eye. Thanks T3.
I just bought an Armitron today after seeing the back story on the founder. I felt like I wanted to support. 😁 That small purchase really made me understand why I collect. It's never been about status or wealth. I'm just a watch guy.
I picked up a Tudor BB S&G about a month and a half ago, I love it. The two tone nature helps play it down a little (and it's brushed rather than polished), but the bracelet on it is really what makes it flash. Putting it on a leather band would definitely give it a whole different character. But either way, i'm a big fan.
You are so correct about only buying a gold watch to fulfil a personal desire. But, that goes back to the “No one will care, but you” idea. I've wanted a gold JLC for a while now. Get your watches insured, too. If someone steals it, it's covered. My watches have doubled the price of my homeowners insurance, but it's worth knowing that if someone wants it enough I'll just hand it over.

An all gold watch was a goal since a teenager, as I've worn 14K since, 44 now. At Dentist, Dr's appointments as a boy, I'd get mesmerized by the Bluesy in NG mags. I could never afford all gold, so I compromised with a Bluesy. It takes balls to embrace it, I get that. I live in a pretty safe area, and proudly live a boring life. And if I do go out, there is an XDS 45 in my front right pocket. My collection is TT heavy, due to my other gold jewelry I wear daily. The bluesy is my weekend, day off work watch. It screams regal luxury, 1980s, my youth. I love the look, warmth, and weight. It feels, looks, more special than my 114060, and both were about the same price at time of purchase. Another reason I went with the Bluesy first. I've worn 14K chains, rings, earrings since the mid 90s in high school. Don't live in fear guys.
Hi, Jory. I own an A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia Thin 37mm (211.032) rose gold. It’s not flashy at all, it’s brushed on the side, discrete, but there’s no other watch in my collection I take more pleasure in wearing or admiring than this one. The dial is hypnotizing. However, I only wear it when going out for dinner, sporadically. It doesn’t make the experience of owning it any less gratifying. Perfect gold watch in my opinion.

Thanks for the great videos. Have a question for you: Is it better to own a Longines solid gold watch (elegant collection) or an Omega De Ville (stainelss steel) for roughly the same price? Which one holds its value? Really appreciate your answer.
I have a gold Longines on a gold bracelet but it's to small for my 8" wrist so my wife wears that one. My two tone black Submariner is as far as I'll go with a gold "heavy" watch. A yellow Daydate is on the radar for my 70th birthday in four years time and my collection will be passed to my son when a pop my clogs. Great video as allways

I got a gold filled 1969 Accutron railroad watch. Not solid gold but looks nice. Stainless steel is my go to metal for watches tho. Great video as always. Always makes my day better.
Hey, Jory buddy, you know the Rado Diastar gold watch? It's my only favorite automatic golden Swiss watch. Well, i'm adding that golden baby to my collection. You should to.

Do you have gold spring bars on them, do they tend to wear out watch bands faster than lighter material, do they tend to keep there value better due to the value of the gold, does gold effect how easily the movement is magnetized, is there a difference in karat weight of different gold watches are they all the same, and finally does gold that has added material such as rose or white effect how soft it is or if it can be repaired??? Your philosophical questions are great but practical questions like the theft issue would be something some of us are interested in. Thanks and by the way love the beard! lol
I got a 1953 14k yellow gold Omega, a 1943 10k rose gold Gruen curvex precision, and a custom 1988 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust with 18k white gold and 1 carat diamond bezel and a .20 carat diamond dial.
You are right , my friend ; people won't notice , care or be impressed by your precious metal or fancy watch . Your JL is beautiful and very tasty but if I had to pick one of your watches , I think I'd go for the Ebel .
I would love to get a vintage Omega Constellation gold watch or even a gold capped SeaMaster of the 1960’s! In the mean time I use my dad’s Cortébert Automatic from the 1950’s which is gold filled and has seen the test of time! It is a bumper automatic a CAL 451!
I own a gold watch since yesterday - not because of this video because I just discovered it today- an Omega 146.017- but with a silver dial. Still gold-colored hands there. I LOVE it. Now, of course, that is a bit of gold on a very special watch, so this proves that I love the 146.017 and it happens to be in gold, not the other way around! Perfect illustration of the wise words of the Time Teller ;-)
if you are a big guy any watch is safer to wear. i don't have any gold or even expensive watches, but i get lots of compliments on my watches, whether it is pagani, invicta or citizen.
I one 1 gold watch. A Seiko I purchased on my honeymoon 40 years ago in the Caribean. Believe it or not it still runs, haven't worn it in 15 - 20 years, just sits in my watch box.
Currently no gold watches, BUT if I were to get one I wouldn’t want an ALL gold watch I really like the look of the two tone Rolex watches with the oyster bracelets, the gold center links, bezel and crown. Other than that I like the stainless steel watches, especially with a brushed finish, my submariner I daily wear as a maintenance technician it has little scuffs and stuff but they mostly aren’t noticeable until I look closely at it.
There are so many beautiful watches out there, I really want to save up for a watch I have had my heart set on for a long time. Watching your videos has made me more motivated to save up for one. It's gold and I wish there were a more affordable steel version to be honest as I would probably prefer that material.
I am thinking to add a G-shock GMWB5000GD-9 to my collection to compliment my signet ring. I mainly wear silver and stainless steel, and my signet ring is the only piece of jewelry made out of gold.
Yep, I do own some gold watches. And the’re mine so I ‘m not gonna share names and titles. I do think a Calatrava type of watch would be something I would look for next. And yess, vintage. Modern (dress) watches are much t ... they are just too much.
Hi TT, I have a couple of stealthy classics, a PP Calatrava, the 5227G, white gold, with the officer case back which is my posh watch. The other is something altogether unusual and a bit rare, a Parmigiani Fleurier Kalpa in palladium. Parmigianas don’t hold their retail price very well but second hand are a steal and in palladium, which the price has rocketed due to it being used in catalytic converters are amazing and only I know how much it’s worth.
Jory, talking about the Overseas, I have seen the prices of the blue dial steal one increasing drastically lately. Do you think this is a trend because of crazy prices of Nautilus and Royal Oak? I have one and now I’m afraid to wear it. Never thought of selling it, but at these prices it’s more of an asset than a watch. Any thoughts on this trend? Thank you.
I really like the watch with precious metal, it adds luxury and value to the machine. But usually the price are way beyond esp fm big brands. It is just unimaginable for ordinary pple to wear them at that price level. Best choice will b Tissot solid gold watches, US$2-3k range, that is very reasonable.
i find it strange that anyone would be perturbed by the odd nick or dent in such a piece, surely the whole point of gold jewellery is the unique character it attains after years of being lovingly worn
Considering buying a Gmw-b5000gd-9. Frkn love looks of that watch. I'm just not used to wearing a gold watch. Also it will be more callenging in combining the watch with the outfit, but that makes it more the fun I gues
I never fancied gold watches. I only have an antique (1960s) gents Baylor Date/Day Watch with a 26.5 mm, 17 jewels #1904 movement, that is 10kt yellow gold filled, that a friend gave knowing my passion for watches.
Love this video. Super honest love that. I saw a finchley gold plated one. And i adored that one but then i looked into it and saw it was an "affordable" gold. But honestly i just want it to match with outfit and like you said if i like it then i like it and thats enough
i'm 35 years old and usually dressed in a suit or slacks, shirt and sport coat sporting my yellow gold rolex president 36mm with my gold pinky ring and gold bracelet that looks like a mini presidential watch bracelet with a few diamonds, i wear that about 4 times a week but i also rotate watches twice a day sometimes, for example if i change from my suit or vice-versa i would put my gold watch on if i feel like it that day if its jeans and a tee shirt or something i'll throw on any of my steel sport rolex models, or any other sports watch for that matter speedmaster, seamaster, el primero 38mm, tudor black bay, datejust 41, seiko skx etc. LOVE MY SKX PEPSI!
Although no one may care about you wearing a gold watch, there is nothing like the sensation to the wearer of a 14K or 18K gold watch on the wrist. And you are right. The presentation of most vintage watches is better in every way. However, the Rolex is a timeless design.

Is it better to own a Longines solid gold watch (elegant collection) or an Omega De Ville (stainelss steel) for roughly the same price? Which one holds its value? Really appreciate your answer.
I have a gold Longines on a gold bracelet but it's to small for my 8" wrist so my wife wears that one. My two tone black Submariner is as far as I'll go with a gold "heavy" watch. A yellow Daydate is on the radar for my 70th birthday in four years time and my collection will be passed to my son when a pop my clogs. Great video as allways
Pls can you enlighten me about something?I received a wristwatch gift from a friend, with this written on it"18kGold electro plated stainless steel back 1ATM PRG b3017GDM.pls is a solid Gold or not?I need to know please 🙏
I would love to get a gold or platinum skydweller in the future. I tried one on and those babies are HEAVY 😍 I LOVE IT
I got a gold filled 1969 Accutron railroad watch. Not solid gold but looks nice. Stainless steel is my go to metal for watches tho. Great video as always. Always makes my day better.
i am thinking to buy brew metric gold. are you going to review any brew watch?
Hey, Jory buddy, you know the Rado Diastar gold watch?
It's my only favorite automatic golden Swiss watch.
Well, i'm adding that golden baby to my collection.
You should to.
I have 4 now but my favourite my grandfather’s Swiss Roamer Incabloc 🥰. Don’t forget to make the incabloc episode 😉
What do we think about the gold prx ? :)
I currently have an 18 kt gold Universal Geneve cushion case dress watch. I have a 14kt gold 1936 Hamilton Custer, I plan on splurging on a Cartier Tank solo extra large in 18Kt rose gold, as I just sold this pain in the butt condo that I've been trying to get rid of.
How much for the reverso?
What happens with white gold when the rhodium playing gets scratched or worn? Yellow starts showing and you have to get it replated?
if you are a big guy any watch is safer to wear. i don't have any gold or even expensive watches, but i get lots of compliments on my watches, whether it is pagani, invicta or citizen.
From Miami if you wear bling bling thing you should have protection. Big fan of Titanium watches.
You matched the t-shirt bang on with the gold Reverso, mate.
what are your thoughts on the full metal gold g schock?
If I had to buy one, JLC ultra thin or Zenith Elite ultra thin in rose gold. Super classy
God! That VC is gorgeous!
Tempted buy the classic seiko 5 gold watches there's like 4 +versions and above all affordable... just waiting to pull trigger
that reverso with that ostrich strap looks sweet!
There are so many beautiful watches out there, I really want to save up for a watch I have had my heart set on for a long time. Watching your videos has made me more motivated to save up for one. It's gold and I wish there were a more affordable steel version to be honest as I would probably prefer that material.
Does gold ion painting use real gold?
I am thinking to add a G-shock GMWB5000GD-9 to my collection to compliment my signet ring. I mainly wear silver and stainless steel, and my signet ring is the only piece of jewelry made out of gold.
I have a 60s bulova. Inherited. Nice. In house movement. Don’t wear it that much though . Seems too flashy
Thank you.
10:43 Spot on!
I have 4 gold watches (1 modern WG, 1 modern YG and 2 vintage YG) and I agree 100% with you
I really like the watch with precious metal, it adds luxury and value to the machine.
I 100% agree with you.
But ppl complain about anything and everything.
Considering buying a Gmw-b5000gd-9. Frkn love looks of that watch. I'm just not used to wearing a gold watch. Also it will be more callenging in combining the watch with the outfit, but that makes it more the fun I gues
7:30..."everything I wish I knew before falling in love with a resin watch." 😂😂
I never fancied gold watches. I only have an antique (1960s) gents Baylor Date/Day Watch with a 26.5 mm, 17 jewels #1904 movement, that is 10kt yellow gold filled, that a friend gave knowing my passion for watches.
what do you think of casio calculator watches. like just now i did not ask the same thing.
That Reverso is
low-key sweet.
I have one half gold watch, a Rolex GMT root beer. Nice balance of metals without looking too flashy.
I only have one watch in gold, a vintage Longines. It's on gold plated, but it does have diamond indices. I love the look but I don't wear it outside the house much because I'm pretty sure it would get stolen
2:35 a.m in my country now. I can not sleep before watch you. Share video every day pls:)
Never used too like them but they’re starting to grow on me , have a Tudor black bay 41 SG on rubber
Love that Rolex Day-Date buddy.. and the JLC... what year is the DD? Looks pristine condition.
