ONE recommended video on end screen! So obvious and yet... 😁 I also noticed how much my watch time has increased recently with longer videos which I just naturally started making as I got looser with my scripting.. so I'm very glad you pointed that out as an actual strategy 😊
Putting myself on video for the first time. I overthank so much and was so nervous wanting to be perfect it took days for me to finally be able to make something that was fine for youtube. Overthinking sucks! Don't do that!
Thanks Vanessa. Another helpful video. I think my 'favourite' mistake from this list is giving up too soon. Learning to accept delayed gratification is key when it comes to building an audience (and it applies for many other things in life). Would you stop watering your new apple tree in the first 3 months because it hasn't grown fruits yet? Of course not! Keep watering your channel 😎🍎
I love that apple analogy hahah, but yes most people today expect short term gratification because of the society we live in. If you can overcome that you're wayyyy ahead already. Although I will say, small "quick wins" really do keep you in momentum. For example my channel is still "small" but I stay motivated when I sell my $97 product or get an affiliate sign up
My mum always watches my videos and leaves them playing to help my channel. I love to watch your videos on a Sunday afternoon, it gives me a great mindset for the week
Love the tip about batching first few videos! I actually decided to launch my channel with 5 full videos and I feel like that helped me gain momentum so much faster than some other new channels. It also really made sure I was committed to this before actually launching.
This is such great advice. I did 2, but 5 would have been amazing. My challenge was to be ok with being on camera. I wasn't sure I will be able to overcome the shyness.
@@atriciadoyle Good for you! I feel like it's the sole reason I was able to gain some momentum fast. When people came across my first video they already had 4 more to binge watch.
That's very smart of you, I'm sure that prompted people to subscribe because you already had your "content library" up and going. Way to go! Your channel looks great, keep it up💖
Thank you, Vanessa!!! I have been overthinking over creating the best videos for over a month now and I have not started because I wanted my videos to be perfect! Thanks to this, I will get started tomorrow! Thanks, Vanessa!♥️♥️♥️♥️
I have been watching and taking your advice for quite some time. You actually map out the most critical part of being new TH-camr and that is being consistency 🙂👍
I write them all down, and now I'm trying to make my first TH-cam video. Now that I'm used to reels, I can move on to more extensive videos. Thanks for sharing those recommendations.
This by far best video I have ever seen when comes to Making your TH-cam channel work. Very informative, accurate to the point and very pleasant too. Thank you Vanessa for you help. Have a great day everyone 🌅
Really great points. All of them. I didn't batch videos like I wanted to at first, but I keep myself on a publication schedule that I can sustain and still keep sanity and have a life..
@@VanessaLau thanks! Just published my 6th video. Browse Features are already most of my views. I'm on a 2-3 weeks schedule. My videos take a lot of time to write, produce and edit. Plus I script every word like you said in a different video that you used to do. But I'm getting more efficient each video and will definitely use some of your tips here.
Thanks for the specific tips and I like the 3 months and checking the analytics. I find your tips realistic and its like you are talking to a person in front of you.
Very helpful video, Vanessa! I've definitely been making the mistake of comparing myself to more established TH-camrs. It's easy for me to create unrealistic expectations for myself which causes a lot of unnecessary stress and frustration. I'm trying to find the balance between "doing my best" and "not overthinking everything". One video at a time...
Yes, balance those two one video at a time and don't be too hard on yourself. The more you create videos, the better and more chances for you to improve! You got this!
You're off to an amazing start so far! You get great viewership and you have solid branding 👌🏽 You should be very proud of yourself, you're channel is wayyyy better than most beginners whose channel I check out. Best wishes and luck to you 💖 You got a new subscriber by the way 😉
18:24 is my favourite tip! I knew that this was happening when I share to Instagram but I didn't know there was anything I can do about it! Thank you for sharing!
As a new TH-camr I don’t think of a specific niche yet! My next video is going to be about the Assassin’s Creed games. The one after a musical project I’m working on. Great tips, you are so pro 😎 Have you made a video about how tags work?
Points on watch time are valid, with the one caveat being that new youtube creators are limited in relation to the amount of time that their initial videos can be. I would focus on creating batches of videos that are related then creating a playlist for each batch so that people can then go from Part 1 - 5 in a series format... Of course you will have some drop off across videos but that is a potential fix.
Oh wow your channel is so so so good. Overthinking is my biggest issue. I constantly think about every little piece of my channel and if a video isn't perfect I feel like I'm gonna lose subs. It's definitely a struggle.
Thank you, Vanessa. I like the comment where 5 minutes videos may not be the way to go, that longer format videos where you concentrate on the most watch time is better than just getting likes and subscribes. Watch hours is actually better than number of subscribers. And of course good content. Thanks again! I will be watching a lot from you to learn more.
These 20 deadly mistakes are mind blowing. I have seriously focus on TH-cam since April 2022 and I'm looking far ahead of the journey that what I can accomplish in years to come. Thanks Vanessa.
Thank you for such great engaging content! I launched my site 12 years ago with one video and then got discouraged! Tried resurrecting it but couldn’t find the right niche or theme! Keep up the great work…3rd video I watched today!
Have you made a video on the email topic yet? What is the best platform to set up the form you mentioned without developing a separate website? Would you recommend taking one social account at a time until we feel confident to outsource it, or do several steps on multiple platforms at the same time? When did you diversify?
I’m growing my YT channel to help 20-somethings learn how to LOVE THEIR LIVES no matter what kind of challenges they might be facing. Thanks for the great advice!!!😄
I love the recent video series you have been producing Vanessa. Its like a whole new channel. I have hit a bit of intertia on my TH-cam journey and your TH-cam rejuvenation has inspired me to retool and keep moving. Thanks!
I think the hardest thing for me is picking one niche ! I really believe it has held me back since I’ve been on TH-cam since 2017 and my channel hasn’t grew as much as it probably could if I had just one niche.
@Indie vlogger That's what I do now the views, likes and subscribers don't get to me much these days. I just enjoy helping and making content around all the things I love.
