Just to keep this short, I pitch alot like you do except for doing everything, and I mean everything wrong. A couple of months ago, I went to a tryout and was only pitching a meager 76 mph. I didn't think that was all I had so I searched and searched for something to help. I found this the day you released it and noticed it was alot alike in out mechanics yet way different since I was doing none of it right. I've worked around the clock with all of this trying to get it all to flow seemlessly and I haven't gotten it down perfectly but there was a huge difference in between then and now. today I went to another tryout and threw a much better 89 mph. I didn't have to change my style and you completely fixed my mechanics and it showed today so I thought I'd say thank you and let you know how much this video helped me so uh, thank you!
Thomas Harrison thanks man! i appreciate that! and around a week I started doing steps without thinking about them but getting everything into harmony was just over 2 weeks.....
Best video I have seen so far for throwing harder. Those seem to be the velocity killers all summed up in a short and to the point video. Thanks. I have subscribed.
Great video. My 12u son has been taking pitching lessons with a well established and highly recommended pitching coach in N. Ca. He does a lot of these well and is throwing hard. His coach never explained it as good as you did here, and also the way that it was taught to me, but at least he laid a good foundation. Thanks for the info n keep doing what you do!
hey man, I've been watching your videos for a while now and I'm a young pitcher, your videos do help me out a lot because sometimes I don't have practice for school ball so I just come here and these help out a lot , thanks man 👍🏼
thanks man, definitely gonna work on the Early pronation issue in my bullpen tonight, gonna need to be throwing well for my tournament this weekend too
Im 15 and my 2 seam fastball velocity was only around 62 mph tops, but even that was stretching it. I had/have decent control, but I was tired of hearing opposing teams saying things like "move up in the box" or "you gotta wait on this guy" every time that I went up to pitch. I watched this video and I was doing about 5 of the 7 things that was said in the video, and after about 2 weeks of fixing them, my 2 seam velocity has increased to just under 66 mph.
hey John, thanks for your help. One of your tips is to bend a bit the back knee. I've seen others with a different opinion. Their theory is if you are tall, the ball will be thrown on a downward plane. But if you get low, you will then launch the ball on an upward plane. I probably missed something in translation in all honesty.
Thank you so much, I was throwing upper 70's as a 13 yr old and couldn't throw very accurately and had help over the winter to be more accurate this summer I had almost 10 mph less on my fastball turns out I was doing all seven.
I like to see you pitching to see how pitch you in slow motilón and also normal speed ... I do not... All throws that you know .... Really i like it ... How do you see? Thanks for your help in your vídeos
My son still battles with jumping out onto his front leg, opening his front hip and eventhough he has a good hip tilt and gets into his back leg it still collapses as it comes off the rubber. His shoulders don’t have very much separation from his hips. 21 year old Sophmore 6’1” 200 lb Lefty at an NAIA school. Throwing 83-84. I know if he could just correct these he could gain another 5mph in the long run
Do you have any tips for changing my mechanics permanently? I had horrid mechanics where how hard I throw is only correlated to how hard I make my arm go (hence, why I throw 67-73 at 15).
at your age i wouldnt worry to much about throwing hard just make sure you do strength training(deadlifts, squats, cleans) have work on your mechanics so that you dont get injured.
I'm a 10 year old pitcher, 4'11 I can throw about 40-50 mph (I've never tested how fast I can throw) is this over average or under average for my age??
There are Video editing Software Tools that allows you to cut parts of the video that are not pleasant. Such as the spitting one. I would suggest you to cut that gross one. Other than that, good vid.
As long as you rest well, stop when you feel pain and make sure your arm motion is fluid and you follow through then you shouldn't risk any elbow injury at all, just go with what works for you. If your velocity is not that good then going an unorthodox style like sidearm might increase your effeciveness but in the end, do what feels comfortable for your arm.
Roland Wolfe Please don't give people advice if you don't know what you're talking about at all. Yes, the lower your arm slot the less risk you have of injuring yourself, as it's a more natural motion anatomically. But it's not worth it just because you're afraid of hurting yourself, pitchers only throw their arms out by not taking care of them properly.
Do guys really have their front foot pointed towards home when they plant? Or do they normally have it sideways? I've always been taught to have my foot facing home plate.
Start more closed off. I just recorded a video called the 9 pitching velocity killers that I will upload in a few weeks and you'll definitely need to check that one out.
hey. very nice video.I'm the winner of the last week sleeve, I contacted you on facebook (YouGoPro Baseball) but you didn't reply. Are you busy? If so, take it easy lol
Yes, you're essentially working against gravity because with 3/4 or over the top you throw down but with sidearm you throw up or straight. What you lose in velo you gain in movement, making it harder to make solid contact and probably getting you a lot of ground balls keeping your pitch count down :)
Some pitchers do that when they throw their offspeed...Ex: Changeup, they have to throw it the same as a fastball but it's an offspeed pitch so they scrape the dirt to i guess "slow" themselves down a bit.
It's so they can get there foot into a straight position to throw because when you throw your weight shifts more to your heel naturally so it sets if off.
Broto Baggins Kershaw also throws with his arm too much and his body not enough. If he had proper mechanics he could probably throw 3-4 mph harder than he does.
Just to keep this short, I pitch alot like you do except for doing everything, and I mean everything wrong. A couple of months ago, I went to a tryout and was only pitching a meager 76 mph. lol....I guess I failed at keeping it short.
Awesome story, thanks for sharing! How long did it take you?
Thomas Harrison thanks man! i appreciate that! and around a week I started doing steps without thinking about them but getting everything into harmony was just over 2 weeks.....
Thomas Harrison I was pretty glad to share it so I'm glad someone enjoyed it.
Thanks man! Will do!
I was doing 6 of these without knowing it and wondering why my velocity was down. Great video.
I like the time you said "the more consistent your fundamentals, the more consistent your pitches" in one of your pitching videos. Great vid.
I WAS DOING ALL 7! I was hitting 72 max. I worked on them the next day and hit 77 next week hit 80 for the first time THANK YOU
Bet
Your channel is wonderful. This helped me out a lot.
Best video I have seen so far for throwing harder. Those seem to be the velocity killers all summed up in a short and to the point video. Thanks. I have subscribed.

awesome! did i reply to you on instagram?
hey man, I've been watching your videos for a while now and I'm a young pitcher, your videos do help me out a lot because sometimes I don't have practice for school ball so I just come here and these help out a lot , thanks man 👍🏼
I'm a pitcher for me team and some of the things u showed I do so I will work on not doing those to see if I improve thanks
Great tips, Thankyou for this because I need to fix some of these
I had a few questions going into this video but you answered all of them. thanks
thanks man, definitely gonna work on the Early pronation issue in my bullpen tonight, gonna need to be throwing well for my tournament this weekend too
Thx for the tips! Will definitely try to think about these things more when I pitch from now on.

Great video as usual. Few points i never really thought about. Makes perfect sense now that you explained them. Thanks!
Great vid I think it will finally help me get my velocity up.
Some very good info here. Thank you!
Glad you like it! Thanks man!

great video thanks for taking the time to make it

Thank You again!! awesome information. My son is soaking it up!
Great video John!!
Thank you so much, I was throwing upper 70's as a 13 yr old and couldn't throw very accurately and had help over the winter to be more accurate this summer I had almost 10 mph less on my fastball turns out I was doing all seven.

Thank !
I need to fix those thanks
I wish I saw this video years ago!!!!! This is the ultimate guide!!! For real no gimmicks!!!
Wait til next week. I'm uploading the 9 velocity killers and sharing ways to fix them. It's going to be a long video but well worth the watch!
YouGoPro thank you I will make sure to Watch it !!!!
Hope this works. Thanks man!
Great stuff!
I went up from 82 to 89 from this thank you so much
I like to see you pitching to see how pitch you in slow motilón and also normal speed ... I do not... All throws that you know .... Really i like it ... How do you see? Thanks for your help in your vídeos
yeah,we was doing wrong a couple of them thanks my son likes your tips!!!!
I just added 5 mph great vid
Awesome! Have you seen my 9 Pitching Velocity Killers video? I've added 2 more killers and also show you how to fix each one!
Thank you I used to throw gas then it stopped thanks for the help!!!
Very help thank you
Wow great tips
Second but awesome vid this is what I ask my coach and he didn't do it better than you
Does the blitzball help you throw better pitches
I love these vids
Leading with your elbow instead of your glove fixes number 7, right. I noticed an increase in velocity when I led with my elbow.
So basically right now what I've been doing is being very aggressive with my arm pull down and I'm not pushing off very well any advice?
This will help me
I do some of this things jeje i'll fix it thanks
Hello my name is Noah I'm 14 and I am just getting into pitching I do all of these thing do you have any drills that could have of them.
cool video but I need those sleeves
My son still battles with jumping out onto his front leg, opening his front hip and eventhough he has a good hip tilt and gets into his back leg it still collapses as it comes off the rubber. His shoulders don’t have very much separation from his hips.
21 year old Sophmore 6’1” 200 lb Lefty at an NAIA school.

Do you have any tips for changing my mechanics permanently? I had horrid mechanics where how hard I throw is only correlated to how hard I make my arm go (hence, why I throw 67-73 at 15).
Don't try to throw hard. Work out. Video your mechanics. Keep working speed will come.
at your age i wouldnt worry to much about throwing hard just make sure you do strength training(deadlifts, squats, cleans) have work on your mechanics so that you dont get injured.
keep up the good work bro
Thanks you too!
Nailed it
I'm a 10 year old pitcher, 4'11 I can throw about 40-50 mph (I've never tested how fast I can throw) is this over average or under average for my age??
check out my average pitch speed videos
good stuff

Do side arm throws and submarine throws have a lower chance of Tommy John injury than overhand ed pitchers?
As long as you rest well, stop when you feel pain and make sure your arm motion is fluid and you follow through then you shouldn't risk any elbow injury at all, just go with what works for you. If your velocity is not that good then going an unorthodox style like sidearm might increase your effeciveness but in the end, do what feels comfortable for your arm.
no they would be more likely because they put more stress on their muscles
Roland Wolfe Please don't give people advice if you don't know what you're talking about at all.
Yes, the lower your arm slot the less risk you have of injuring yourself, as it's a more natural motion anatomically. But it's not worth it just because you're afraid of hurting yourself, pitchers only throw their arms out by not taking care of them properly.

I need to fix somethings. Thanks
I probably do 5 of these "Killers", going out tomorrow to fix my mechanics! Thanks!
Awesome! I like the execution!
YouGoPro I just need to learn how to drive with my hips, I keep leading with my foot
Do guys really have their front foot pointed towards home when they plant? Or do they normally have it sideways? I've always been taught to have my foot facing home plate.
I always feel like I am flying open, is there any drills to help stay closed?
Start more closed off. I just recorded a video called the 9 pitching velocity killers that I will upload in a few weeks and you'll definitely need to check that one out.
hey John what can of bats you recommend to a rookie like me
I am not throwing fast but after trying that in a bull pen I noticed that I was throwing faster
hey. very nice video.I'm the winner of the last week sleeve, I contacted you on facebook (YouGoPro Baseball) but you didn't reply. Are you busy? If so, take it easy lol
Look up Jaron long he has separating hands toward target and he throws 89-93
Look up Aroldis Chapman he throws towards third and throws 100+...
+Caillou Savage ..... Savage Award of the Day😂😂😂
Thanks Baud I try...
+Caillou Savage nice one😂😂
+Caillou Savage that's wrong bud Chapman would be towards first not third😂
I can now throw faster thanks John
is that field near bear creek
If you move your glove from third to home when you pitch do you lose speed then
I do number 1 and 3 but everything else is good I’m also throwing 62 at 12 years old
I do 7 of these
So, who should I mimic or model?
Whatever's comfortable
Chihiro K. Otani shohei
I do them all
lowkey same😂
I show all my friends
Do you know who is Adrian burnside?
I do. We played together. You know him?
Nice
i thought early pronation increases short term velocity but almost guarantees injury
is throwing side arm a velocity killer ?
Yes, you're essentially working against gravity because with 3/4 or over the top you throw down but with sidearm you throw up or straight. What you lose in velo you gain in movement, making it harder to make solid contact and probably getting you a lot of ground balls keeping your pitch count down :)
this will definitly come in handimg
So I’m 17 and I’m throw 87-89 consistently is that average for my age
What team(s) did you pitch for in your career?
Knifed34 padres and mets
Justin Rollo thanks
I used to pitch like pretty fast then i just started throwing slower
why do some pitchers scrap there back foot on the dirt when they pitch
Some pitchers do that when they throw their offspeed...Ex: Changeup, they have to throw it the same as a fastball but it's an offspeed pitch so they scrape the dirt to i guess "slow" themselves down a bit.
+Peter OutFielderWithACannon thx dude
It's so they can get there foot into a straight position to throw because when you throw your weight shifts more to your heel naturally so it sets if off.
How can I use less pitches
I used to lean my leg the whole time, now im not gonna do that, thanks!
because my coach tells me it is
Clayton Kershaw opens up early like you talk about, wanna explain why you think you're correct?
Broto Baggins Kershaw also throws with his arm too much and his body not enough. If he had proper mechanics he could probably throw 3-4 mph harder than he does.
Also went from 54 to 71mph (only 13 years old)
Went from 60-to 74 (10 years old)
I'm 13 and my highest pitch, while doing 4 of these "killers" is 67MPH
I'll update after I practice this some more.
i do 6/7 things XD
do them right or do them wrong?
First like
