I don't know how this channel doesn't have millions of views on every video. That soup looked fantastic!

Grilled cheese and tomato soup is a classic combination but I never thought about making the sammich into croutons. Fabulous idea.

This ages really well in the 'fridge. Made the recipe this weekend (stayed right on point with the recipe, too) and it's improved 48 hours later.

Oh you know, always looking to jazz up any and everything with some peppers :). Seriously, we never steer very far from Latin inspired flavors, if we do, we always come right back. Thanks for watching!

I have to make this. Grilled Cheese and tomato soup was a staple from my childhood and since. This takes it to a whole new level. Because of you we are looking at smokers. Trying to figure out just what we want. Bravo!

Another great take on a classic. I love the way you can transform something that is usually simple and sometimes mundane into a work of food art.

If you’ve got a Mexican/Latin/international market nearby, Culantro is a substitute for cilantro without the dish soap effect that plagues some. We use it in cuban cooking all the time.

Thanks for this recipe! You created a 'grown up' version of the classic tomato soup and grill cheese sandwich that I had for lunch as a kid. I made this yesterday and I think it is great. Being in the UK it is hard to obtain anything 'BBQ' like rub blends etc. There are very few available and they are hard to get so I used basic ground cumin and coriander to make my version. I have a few hundred dried ancho and guajillo peppers, so I used 1 of each along with some mexican chipotle sauce which I found on Amazon. In the UK we can get the best Spanish Chorizo just about anywhere including my local convenience store. The best thing about this soup is that you can stop before the sour cream and leave out the chorizo and serve it to a vegetarian. This means that I can make a batch for a family lunch and give a vegan version to my wife's sister instead of cooking a whole meal just for her. Keep up the good work!

Very well said! This is indeed a "grown up" version of this classic for us as well. Your spice choices are spot on, appreciate your insights as well. Lots of flexibility with this recipe. We appreciate the insights and thanks for watching!

Chef Tom. I think chile chipotle Morita is a much better pepper than chile chipotle meco.
Chile Morita is what you'll find in the canned Chipotle chiles. It's sweeter and fruitier than the ultra dry chile meco.
Love your content, looking forward to many more videos.

Great as always Chef!!! 👌 9.8!!! You inspire me weekly! Who woulda thought of grilled cz croutons, mex tomatoe soup, and use of sour cream 💯👌💪👏
Only minute criticism... blended it more and not so thick. 🤷‍♂️... maybe add some extra sharp chedda 🤣 to that beautiful grilled cz crouton for some bite. But that's just prolly my palate.

I love how thick that is, and the "croutons" too. Also, would it help to pre-soak the chipotles? And, also assuming that this soup would be even better after an overnight refrigeration? Or have you ever had a batch last that long? =)
