Thank you! This is a great little video series you've put together. I'm 48 and decided to learn drums, and after about a month, I started feeling a sharp pain down the outside of my right wrist from working the hi-hat. I thought maybe my body was just too old for such a physical instrument, but after about a week of doing your recommended exercises several times a day including before and after practicing, I'm happy to say that the pain is almost entirely gone! I will add another recommendation that has helped me: don't overplay. Use only enough movement necessary to get the sound you want, and if you start to feel pain or fatigue creeping in, reduce your range of motion until it's comfortable again.
Dude, I know this is like 7 years later, but thank you for this! I recently have been dealing with tendinitis after drumming for many years and I thought it was over for me.
Thanks Bro! I watched all 3 of your vids. I am currently struggling with tendinitis in my right upper bicep 💪 I have spent years drumming and sound pretty good but when I watch video of myself I can see the problem. When I really start cooking, I do this thing where I sort of shrug my shoulder, particularly with double strokes. Also, my posture is just SHIT...😬 I never noticed how badly I was slouched over my kit. I just hope 🙏 that I can continue to play. It would be a shame to put 10,000 hours into something that you get too sore to continue doing 😕 Thank's again for the ideas, stretches, and advice....🥁🎵🎵
Hi mate, I´ve been practicing your exercises for a few weeks now, and I feel i´ve been making some good progress. I was having acute pain in the joint that "connects" my thumb to the wrist on my left hand following a rehearsal gone awry a few month ago, and recently i´m able to play with no pain. Thanks!
