Wow, this is Nirvana as an actual garage band. Very cool.
Indeed
lmfao more like downstairs weedsmokin room where parents wont interrupt.
@@mattzidwick1671 Lmaoo so true all local bands I know have room jus like that lolll
That IS NOT a garage band but an kitchen band
I love Kurt having to sing against the wall just so he can sort of hear what the hell is coming out of his head. Loud…and lovely…as BALLS in that room I bet
Can we just take a moment to appreciate Krist's bass playing
Just a moment? I did it for 26 minutes
Krist is awesome dude, I never tire of his bass playing. His grooves are incredible, and he somehow manages to create pretty memorable bass lines.
Actually the immigrant song is simplified. He just plays root notes instead of doing 3 scale runs like Jones did
That Ibanez Black Eagle bass!
Super underrated
I had a band in the early 1970s...nothing great, just played all the high school proms across Houston. We were practicing in my parent's garage, Marshall amps (LOUD) and my Dad came out and said we were "over modulating". We all laughed and turned it down. Never forgot that. My dad passed away in 2005. I love you, Dad.
I'm 18 years old and I'm from japan. kurt cobain was to have a
good influence on some person.
My dad would come in and say “Did you think about changing it to an A minor”, he always pointed me in the right direction with the chord changes in the songs I wrote and performed with my band in the late 90’s. It’s funny now because I do the same thing with my son.
"Over Modulating" - what a brilliant name for an album!
@user-bp7bg3hy3m - Your Dad was a visionary. 🤘🏼😁
I knew someone who sometimes said certain albums sounded "over-modulated." Never knew what he meant because they all sounded fine to me. RIP your dad
Giants won the pennant in 89 and the locker room was a massive drunk fest. A local reporter asked Will Clark about the game and he was all screaming and shrill and the reporter told him to chill, that he was over modulating and Clark asked "what the f**k does that mean?' whooooooeeeee...cracked me up...good story about the rehearsal and your dad.
Who knew these kids would leave an unforgettable mark on rock n roll and the world
I know!!
👌🤘
I think the were about 20 in this video lol
Minus Chad.. Lol
@@anus333 Kurt was 18, Krist was 20, and Chad was also 18
this is unreal footage. maybe the best ever. how did i miss this after all these years???
A lot of this was released from a box set released with the lights out in 2004. I'm glad my sister bought it. It has all of this in the DVD it came with.
Love how Kurt jumps like he's playing in front of a crowd.
Practice makes perfect
es la ejecucion músical lo que le inspira saltar .....y no el público....saltar porque te están mirando sería un poco narcisista ....
you jump because you feel it man, lol not for others
You perform like you practice. There is studious practice where you work on stuff but when you have a band practice give it all

My brothers had a cover band back in the 70's . Both my parents loved music and my mom taught piano. She was perfectly happy to allow rehearsals in our finished basement.
I think it's absolutely beautiful to be able to watch something like this:)
So do I. This is why I love TH-cam, because you can see things you never knew were recorded to begin with
Yeah its almost like presencing that time for a few minutes. You know, presencing their vibe. Really cool

It was a freak accident they became famous. But as we know, even they weren't cut out for it. Cobain couldn't handle it. We all see where it got him. Its not all fun and games, its a cut throat business, where you take orders on what to sing and how to sing it! What to play, and how to play it! Do exactly as you're told, you make money and fame. Don't obey those telling you what to do, the band breaks up and you lose it all. Lots of pressure, lots of rules to becoming famous. And not all of us like to be "Yes men" to achieve that fame. The only person who survived this group in the music world is the drummer.
Moments like this are the reason i love being in a band

This is something I can relate to. 5 years later than this, I was 17 years old and rehearsing upstairs in my grandmothers house playing for my beerdrinking friends and having fun. We were playing so loud that the damn pictures fell of the walls and the neighbours were complaining, but she loved the company and.was almost deaf anyway. Gosh I miss her! ❤️

Krist novoselic is one of the most underrated bassists of all time.
Ok
So is Tina Weymouth.
Very smart bass player knew some tricks and used them wisely
Kira Rosseler of Black Flag was underrated.
Underrated? Really? He was in one of the biggest selling bands in the world….Pretty dumb comment…🤷🏿♂️
Thanks to whoever had the forethought to have recorded this, the birth of grunge rock.
I think Husker Du and the Mats et al were a little ahead of this.....
It wasn’t easy back then. You had an 10 pound camcorder hoisted on your shoulder and they weren’t always the most reliable piece of equipment.
Yeah the guy with the massive shoulder mounted VHS video camera is the real hero here, a true visionary 🙏

As an aspiring musician, this is the most inspiring/motivational thing I've ever seen. They started out like this.
Almost no one starts out in a studio, my friend.
Yes they did but they also had the songs already written by a fantastic song writer
I wish I was doing this in my teens. Not to be famous or anything, just for fun
How old is you
thank god im doing this and am committed to it with a band, instead of dreaming about it
Too much wishing and not enough doing. You got one life take the step and truly live, and thata by discovering new things and finding your identity.

Its never too late.
Kurt was actually a really good player
I think he was just really humble
Tanya Arpipunyakorn I agree. I think everyone focuses on his voice and no one ever talks about his amazing guitar playing. Not saying his voice isn’t amazing.
I think he just wanted to keep it simple
You just noticed lmao
Yes he played every day for years!
These guys could be famous one day
Shane Crossley too bad for chad.
MightyZx I always think about Chad like it’s sad he could’ve been the biggest thing 😂
Nah they won’t be famous. after all, they’re playing in Krist’s mother’s house!
I wouldn’t feel bad for Chad. Unless he really got fucked by the lawyers, his performance credits on Bleach, Incesticide, and the various Best Of and boxed sets have made him a rich man. Actually, now that I’m thinking about it, didn’t he sue in the 90s, and accept some ridiculously small amount? If so, what a dumbass..

Kurt faces the wall because this is a practice session and they are all facing the same way they are on stage. You ever see Em on stage face each other? Didn't think so!
It looks like hes also using the wall for a little acoustic amplification
Never mind I just saw the mic
@@ccgbassandmore3 You are right. He stands this way, because other wise mice would start to feedback ,because volume is high,I have to do exactly the same, when I play at my house- speaker behind me and stand same direction as Kurt, only because to avoid strong feedback, so I could play louder.
