That humble man working in the butchery with Kurt-Lee Arendse who asked him to help this young man. ❤❤❤ These are the South African heroes we don’t see who ALL contributed to back-to-back World Cup wins! And the man icing Siya Kolisi’s knee all hours of the night while he slept….. That is the spirit of our country when we come together. xxxx
I have just finished watching all 5 episodes, as a South African, the tears flowed 😢 followed by incredible admiration for our hero’s🇿🇦🏆 I have followed you since the start of the RWC. I hope we have rubbed off on you🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦 thank you for all you do😎❤
The language that all those emotive lines is isiXhosa (the Xh is a click that you can learn by watching some videos...). The way they are speaking comes from the praise song culture and is absolutely magnificent. If you listen to it even without subtitles, it gives you chills. Those descriptions at the capping ceremony, and the bit about "son of Libbok" etc. give you an idea of how gorgeous their use of language is. Look up some videos of the isiXhosa commentary for an experience of it.
YES. We South Africans are a unique breed. We know how to dig deep, and when the passion is required, we will step up and show the world that despite the absolute F#$% UP government and their failures, we will stand united with dignity. It is only the rhetoric of a few who seek to divide us. Scratch below the surface, and you will find respect and understanding. There can be NO doubt that our entire Springbok squad were outstanding Ambassadors for South Africa ❤
As a South African and a Springbok fan i love your unbiased view of SA rugby including our franchise teams. I love listening to your comments and thoughts about rugby in general. I believe you will really feel the true love of our team when you visit later this year. Like Rassie said there is not much good going on in SA and the Boks is our escapism from reality for a few hours on a Saturday.
What surprised me more than anything is how much coaching input Felix Jones did, I never knew he was that pivotal. It seems a big loss for SA. This documentary is amazing!
Same like i knew he was there and obviously played a role. But i didnt understand just how much of pivotal role Felix played. You dont often see that side of rugby and im loving it
As a Saffer in NZ, finally managed to get a source to watch...on episode 2 atm...goosebumps, this series does a good job of showing what rugby truly means to SA...it's so much more than just a sport. Really hope you enjoy your trip to SA, I haven't been back for various reasons beyond my control for a very long time. You will be looked after and you will be blown away by the rugby culture, enjoy it boet!
I shed lots of tears, also still have ptsd from the world cup. Sheesh emotions so high and nerves wrecked...and still have to relive the semi final and final!!!
I really love your reviews, your passion not only for the game but also how you enjoy the Springbok's which admittedly is not everyone's cup of tea! I get choked up often in these episodes, and love every second of it. One word of warning though, when you come to SA for your Ireland, AB's, Craven Week and Affies games, you might request citizenship... I am sure you will be taken care of by rugby lovers. Unfortunately I am based in Dubai but if I am in SA at the same time as you my home Is open to you. Thank you for the content, I "discovered" this in the World Cup and love each episode!
Great review, you got my subscription a long time ago… one thing that you pointed out is that you can’t wait to see a schools game when in SA on a previous episode. I think you will be blown away by the sheer depth of Rugby in South Africa and the volume of talent. Traditionally South Africa has been a football country in terms of the greater population. However Rugby has over the last 7 years literally finally become a major sport in Black communities to the extent that whereas in the past you would only see football being played in the townships by kids now you genuinely see kids ( of their own accord) playing rugby. There is no longer any need for quotas in Rugby as there’s such a massive volume of all children playing the game naturally there is no longer a need for quotas. Why you see the Australians and New Zealanders go on about trying to change the rules to make it more like League is simple. They know that they are literally going to be blown away by the sheer volume of of talent. Remember South Africa has a population of 62 million … that’s thought the same size as the UK and France. ( That’s basically double and some of Australia and 10 times that of New Zealand) … There are only 2 codes of football .. Association (soccer) and Rugby Union … Rugby League simply does not has not and never will exist in SA. If as I believe Rugby Union even equals soccer in popularity that means you have 30 million people to choose from …. Compare that to the UK or France where Rugby is minuscule as you point out in comparison to soccer …. It means that no country as it stands will have the sheer depth of talent … The Bomb Squad was not an abnormality it literally shows the depth that South Africa has. To use a soccer analogy countries like Brazil, Argentina, Italy, and Germany only have one version of football in reality … as a result they are the only countries that have won 3 or more World Cups because they have the “production” line of youngsters just being churned out , no matter how many ways you look at it New Zealand with a population of 6 million ( even with the Pacific Islanders) will never ever be able to realistically compete against a population of 60 million in terms of talent over the long run. Ironically the only reason that historically South Africa hasn’t obliterated everyone was because Rugby was restricted to 10% of the population. Now that it has at least 70% of the population supporting it the Antipodeans are desperately trying to change it into the sport they play “League“ but even that will not work. Go back into history on other sports .. in the 50s/60s Australia and New Zealand has the best middle/long distance runners … then East African Countries started being able to compete … game over!
So the supporters that arrived at the stadium for the boks final training session are the "Gwijo squad". Famous group of supporters in SA who sing / chant war cries during games. They arrived on the week of the QF specifically for that game ( Seeing as Boks would've faced NZ or FR and this knockout game was guaranteed for the boks, the SF and FN weren't). Biggest games of the tournament for us. They were pivotal in my view.
You are right however, the guys he showed on the clip are also members of the iGwijo squad.Im guessing a few of their members were there from the beginning but the majority joined in semi final stages.
@@JeevaDotNetthey are free to open their own group, the Gwijo squad expenses came from their pockets.Members were required to pay R2500 a month for two years.Thats why they were able to get to France.I also received that communication as I joined their facebook page as a member.
it is crazy how I, and I absolutely know everyone else, can't wait for E4 just as much as the as the actual games! but then there's eggchasers's channel that helps getting you through the week😊
Outstanding episode! Wow the details, did not realise Felix Jones was so involved ! Rassie is brutal ! Love it ! Knows how to get the best out of men !
The shotclock was actually reset for Mannie, if you rewatch the game (it's on TH-cam now) you can hear the ref telling them to reset the clock while Mannie as libbing up to kick.
I too couldnt wait to hear your take and you did us proud Timmo. You touched on every relevant point from team talks from Rassie , covering spy cameras to tactics and that beat box with Rassie blasting out at practise ..all adding up to an amazing story with a fantastic ending ..Big thumbs up
Tim,thanks for a great show.and thanks for getting promoting the show.ive got family all over the world and theyve told me how rugby fans have come to hate the boks and they way we play.which hurts us. besides,if JK or some of those"pundits"had there way we would end up with something boring and monotonous.south africans know, its our differences that make us great.I love all the nations styles and cultures.no other sport has so many flavours.glory to the game.and to the irish fans on their way to the south, come thirsty.get ready to drink some brannas. Again Tim,thank you
Thanks Tim. I look forward to your commentary in your follow up videos as much as the episodes themselves. I enjoy your love for the game. You are going to love being here in SA.
I've really enjoyed your reviews on CTS2 (earned you a subscription ;) ) - thanks for being unbiased and so enthusiastic about it! Yes, watching these episodes I'm reliving the stress of the WC again even though I know the results. And yes, I really get choked up watching some of these stories inbetween.
Timbo slice, keep up the good work pal, looking forward to having you in Cape Town - Please organise a meetup at Firemans or Ferrymans, we'll all be there! Big fan of your work sir
Hey Tim, can't wait for you to experience why rugby means so.much for.our country..we're by no means perfect and still have a lot of challenges in our country, but rugby you'll see is more than just a sport for our country..its really something else! I'm watching Chasing The Sun 1 & 2 simultaneously, and although I know the outcomes, I still get heavy emotional,as if I'm watching it for the 1st time!
Great content and insight, Tim! 'Xhosa' is pronounced - by those who cant manage the 'txlik' - as koza with a longer "o" as in cauza ... if that makes any sense?
So appreciated what the players put in to deliver the result. Bongi in tears. Amazing. Thank you for all that the team and their families gave. That is a sacrifice to be proud of.
Tim, I get you! I had a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes, tears of pride. Watching Siyas story made me feel unworthy and like I don't nearly fulfill my potential
I don't think that any previous Bok team has grabbed my intelec & emotions like this one, such real & proper Men leaving all that they as a team & individuals on the pitch for all the world to see
Every time you mention your upcoming trip I turn green. Live in the UK now and I don't think there is anything I miss more than a big bok game atmosphere! Not just the game, the whole day. Butchers are busy. Bottle stores are busy. Green and gold everywhere!
I believe they reset the shot clock for that kick of Manie but the stadium didn’t so the crowd saw the wrong clock. Ben o keef asked them to correct that but they didn’t.
Tim . You've consistently shown us in your videos , that rugby can involve the full range of action and emotions . But that the game is far more enjoyable when watched with amazement at sporting skill and drama . Rather than as a grim means to an end : a proxy battle to briefly prop up an angry collective ego .
So Tim the group came singing are called Igwijo Squad. Igwijo is a Isixhosa word emanating from struggle days referring to freedom songs, nowadays we sing these song to encourage and express our joy. The Igwijo Squad is a group of young professionals in love with rugby. When you are in South Africa, you’ll see them singing their way to the stadium and they follow the Boks around the country. Their Patron in Chief is non other than Siya Kolisi, who after games goes and sing with them in the stands. At the end of the singing in episode 3, Siya used a profound IsiXhosa idiom declaring he is not afraid of the challenge ahead. He said “igwala kulonina”. See you in South Africa team.
Tim, one of the commentaries is of one our 11 official languages isiXhosa. The pronunciation is: isi (as you would say it) Xhosa -Kh-oza. I hope that makes sense. Thanx for the fab review.
@EggchasersRugby you are right... The language the commentator was speaking whilst praising Manie Libbok is Xhosa. So in our beloved country, they try to cater for many of our different languages when sports plays, and you are able to select the language you want to hear the commentary in whilst watching. For Rugby its mainly, Xhosa, English and Afrikaans.
I'm still calling it. 100k subscribers during your SA trip. Kinda poetic that it'll happen in SA, either playing Ireland or the mighty All Blacks. But probably Ireland which would be better for all the Norhtern Hemisphere subscribers
Yes!!! Watching this as a south African is absolutely beautiful. It's also great how long the win euphoria has lasted. There was controversy on marketing unfairly using the boks without permission where Rassie even said people must respect their sponsors. All during the world cup. Springbox by escort. Checkers 60 60 on the kit design. 👌
The people at the game were not the ones you met. This group are called the Gwijo Squad. They were a group of black South Africans who decided to bring a more African vibe to the sports grounds. Gwijo is a style of singing and dancing. Siya fen meets them before and after the games and sings with them. They have become an integral part of the vibe at most Bok games. They put together a tour group that went to the knockout games.
One year, with Rassie as headcoach at the Cheetahs, he played the Blue Bull song on repeat over the sound system in the Freestate stadium while practicing This was done in preparation for their final against the Bulls at Loftus Versfeld Old dog up to his old tricks 😄😄😄😄😄
The Manie Libbok kick was not out of time. If you watch a couple of seconds before that, you will see the referee asking to restart the clock because he had made Manie wait so he could check something. He asked repeatedly to have the clock restarted and it never was - lending just a little bit of fuel to the fire of French producers doing what they can to influence games.
Just watched the 4th episode and eagerly waiting your review seeing as it was the England semi final... there isnt a South African man or woman with dry eyes tonight after watching this one
I held back tears of reminiscence, being a schoolboy rugby player in South Africa and understanding how “harsh” and brutally honest our coaches can sound at times just to bring out the best in you as a player! I’ve literally cried on the field and been overwhelmed with emotion while playing but the Boks changing room is something I’ve never come close to seeing and now I know….it starts from the grassroots and they really do drill you to be hard and let the criticism make you better! 🥹🙏🏾💖
Rassie lol what a mad man😆 but Absolute Legend! Stay tuned and witness the Springboks raising the William Webb Ellis Cup for the 5th time in 2027 with Rassie behind the wheel💪 Expect attacking gameplay on a level never seen before
Back to the French game. Another SA player, Cobus Reinach almost charged down a goal kick from Ramos. He could have if he started closer to the touch line. What do you think?
Watching Episode 3 felt so intense! I was at the ground again, but this time, all the extra access and background context made even more tense!! Sad about the profanity though. They need some chillies in the mouths!!
That is the spirit of our country when we come together. xxxx
My only issue with each episode so far?
It’s not long enough. I want MORE! 🇿🇦
Rassie sarcastically saying Daan Human is getting a salary just for 1 scrum was hilarious 🤣
And you can hear Daan going BUT BUT BUT in his mind.
One of my favourite moments 😂😂😂
Daan taking it that seriously was the cherry ontop
That was ridiculously funny
I have just finished watching all 5 episodes, as a South African, the tears flowed 😢 followed by incredible admiration for our hero’s🇿🇦🏆 I have followed you since the start of the RWC. I hope we have rubbed off on you🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦 thank you for all you do😎❤

Great remarks on isiXhosa language
My best moment of episode 3 is Rassie wheeling that HUGE speaker around, playing the French Anthem. So funny !!
Kurt-Lee Arendse!🥹 may God continue to bless him with many more blessings to come🙏🏽✝️🥺💕👑
YES. We South Africans are a unique breed. We know how to dig deep, and when the passion is required, we will step up and show the world that despite the absolute F#$% UP government and their failures, we will stand united with dignity.

I love Arendse's story.
Rassie carting the speaker ,what a legend!!
That was the best
Love it

well stated and commented‼️
EXCELLENT❗️🍷
🪖
Best sporting documentary I have ever seen. It has everything: It is funny, entertaining, tears, laughter, informative, background of players.
The very best rugby chat show available I just love it please don't stop
What surprised me more than anything is how much coaching input Felix Jones did, I never knew he was that pivotal. It seems a big loss for SA. This documentary is amazing!
Same like i knew he was there and obviously played a role. But i didnt understand just how much of pivotal role Felix played. You dont often see that side of rugby and im loving it
Rassie clearly has the ability to spot talent so the coaching should be fine. A loss yes, but it works out great for everyone.
As a Saffer I was impressed by Felix Jones. Would love to see him back. No doubt he will make a huge impact as part of England coaching staff.
As a Saffer in NZ, finally managed to get a source to watch...on episode 2 atm...goosebumps, this series does a good job of showing what rugby truly means to SA...it's so much more than just a sport. Have enjoyed your channel since during the world cup build ups Tim. Great unbiased analysis. Thanks
Been waiting the whole effing day for this😂. Worth it. Thanks mate
me too😂
I shed lots of tears, also still have ptsd from the world cup. Sheesh emotions so high and nerves wrecked...and still have to relive the semi final and final!!!

I can't wait to see what happens in the second half of the France game. :) Got to admit I watched the bit about Cheslin's charge down about 5 times.
Thanks Tim. I look forward to your commentary in your follow up videos as much as the episodes themselves. I enjoy your love for the game. You are going to love being here in SA.
Awesome channel
Tnx for your balanced unbiased views. You are a true fan of rugby🎉
Your enthusiasm for the sport of rugby union is infectious Sir. Great commentary as always. Always a pleasure to listen to. Many thanks. 👍💚

Great job Tim. I watch each episode twice, then your blog after. Thanks
Tim, I get you! I had a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes, tears of pride. Watching Siyas story made me feel unworthy and like I don't nearly fulfill my potential
Couldn't sleep after watching this, same emotions came back as when we actually played the game. Brilliant show and cant wait dor episode 4.
South African rugby gets commentated in three of our official languages. English, Afrikaans and Xhosa.
Wonderful review Tim. As a saffer, I can tell you for sure.. our blood is green..
Can’t wait to see this when it comes out on showmax, goosebumps only from these reviews
Fantastic reviews, entertaining, fun, and full of detail. Keep up the good work 👏 🙌 👍
I remeber watching you in the World Cup when you'd get 3k views, now look! Great job, well deserved!
I don't think that any previous Bok team has grabbed my intelec & emotions like this one, such real & proper Men leaving all that they as a team & individuals on the pitch for all the world to see
Love the analysis and commentary. Thank you.
Rugby is a game to think about-well done to Rassie and his team- so good to re-live all of these emotions again!!!
Fantastic insight , love your channel 👍
Your podcasts are awesome thankyou
Every time you mention your upcoming trip I turn green. Live in the UK now and I don't think there is anything I miss more than a big bok game atmosphere! Not just the game, the whole day. Butchers are busy. Bottle stores are busy. Green and gold everywhere!

Brilliant work Tim - loving CTS2- can’t wait for you to hit SA shores
Fantastic review Tim 😊thank you !
Tim . You've consistently shown us in your videos , that rugby can involve the full range of action and emotions . See you in South Africa team.
The boks don't have a choice but to win the 3rd world cup cos now it's not only the cup at stake but season 3
Bro exactly i will be more excited for season 3 than the actual win😂 its so cool seeing this side of rugby

Springbox by escort. Checkers 60 60 on the kit design. 👌
So glad the World seeing our boys! What they go through to make it and the genius of Rassie the raw truth and how much we love Rugby!!!!!
Great review, thanks Tim, I'm keen to watch it...
Enjoying your channel … really good When you at loftus versveld make sure you get a blue bull steak 🥩
Go and watch the two adverts with a young Rassie and Jacques
those are the best, and the one where they mock Chasing the sun kind of. hahaha They are on TH-cam
Glad you enjoyed the bok ads lol all the ads they are playing durung chasing the sun are te same ads that ran during the RWC23

Old dog up to his old tricks 😄😄😄😄😄
I really hope that they show us more of Cobus Reinach in the coming episodes. That man deserves more recognition
We do shed tears
You're the man, thanks for the content

Just watched the 4th episode and eagerly waiting your review seeing as it was the England semi final... there isnt a South African man or woman with dry eyes tonight after watching this one
Nice, Tim. Our DNA cant be cloned
I enjoy your analysis of the game
we do they mean everything to us
I held back tears of reminiscence, being a schoolboy rugby player in South Africa and understanding how “harsh” and brutally honest our coaches can sound at times just to bring out the best in you as a player!
Stay tuned and witness the Springboks raising the William Webb Ellis Cup for the 5th time in 2027 with Rassie behind the wheel💪 Expect attacking gameplay on a level never seen before
Don't worry, we shed tears 😢 lol
Back to the French game. Another SA player, Cobus Reinach almost charged down a goal kick from Ramos. He could have if he started closer to the touch line. What do you think?
Love your insights
You the best when it comes to game set and match

Watching Episode 3 felt so intense! I was at the ground again, but this time, all the extra access and background context made even more tense!! Sad about the profanity though. They need some chillies in the mouths!!
Xhosa is the African language for rugby in South Africa
