I was not surprised that Schecter won. Their models in recent years are excellent. This SLS Elite line for example has a neck-through construction, Ernie Ball compensated nut, stainless steel frets, great neck profile, Fishman pickups, locking tuners, simply perfect instruments.
I'm a lefty living in the UK and Schecter has absolutely saved my life. Their guitars are absolutely killer for the rock and metal I play in my bands which includes a Dio tribute. I started out with this great manufacturer years back with with an Omen (now sold on to some other lucky southpaw) and currently have a Silver Mountain FR S on order which is due to arrive in a few weeks. I'll add that to my Hellraiser Hybrid (now with Suhr Doug Aldrich zebras instad of the EMGs which I found a bit muddy), FR SLS Elite and Reaper-6 Elite FR-S Bloodburst. I can't thank Schecter enough for looking after left-handers so well. I think that you definitely made the right choice there out of the three guitars in the mix. Excellent series of videos, my friend, and a great channel to boot! Subscribed!
Thanks so much for your insight! You've had quite the Schecter journey! And I've heard they have likely the best inventory for Lefties! Really happy with my choice. Thanks for the Sub!!! Hope to hear from you again....
I own a schecter guitar too. Schecter guitar is not an old brand comparing to Ibanez, Jackson etc..etc so maybe people goes for old brands it seems but people should buy and play schecter guitar coz it's a good guitar for metal, rock or any type of music. So guys if you are planning to buy a guitar go and grab a schecter guitar, you won't regret it.. 🤘.. Schecter guitar I'm a big fan of it.. I'll play only schecter guitar my whole life, I'll be greatfull if you support me with some of your stuffs. Thank you.
Watched all the chapters and they were all informative. As soon an I heard the solos back to back I thought you were going to pick the Schecter. Seemed to bring something out in your playing the other two did not. Great choice and I hope it is working out for you. Would love to see an update video about how it is working out and if anything has surprised you about the guitar. Take care and Happy New Year!
Thanks for checking them out and sharing your thoughts! And thanks for the idea. A follow up on the Schecter would be a great video. I do have things to say about it. You might just see that soon. Happy new year!
I just bought the same Schecter guitar. I have to say a really beautiful instrument and I have to admit I prefer it over my Ibanez rg prestige, the weight , the ergonomic is just on another level for its price
I’ve got the SLS C7, I’ve swapped the tuners for hipshot lockers and it’s basically an amazing guitar. The build quality is top notch, it looks fantastic and it sounds fantastic - everything from sweet cleans to utterly ferocious high gain tones. I don’t think there’s a better guitar at that price point - it’s such a good value for money guitar.
I totally agree. This guitar surprised me more than most I have played. Especially at the price point. I might check out the hip shot tuners too. The stock ones are pretty crap. Was it a direct fit or did you have to drill new holes?
I knew the Schecter was going to come out on top. I have three now and absolutely love them! Never had an issue with any I have. Bought one used.. was fantastic.. bought one high end Blackjack Avenger... superb guitar.. and a lower end Omen Elite FR Special Hot Rod... and love the neck profile on that guitar more than any other Ive ever played! Great choice to go with the Schecter.
I’ve had two Schecters. Both had uneven joints of the skunk stripes. You can feel them as you run your hand down the neck. There were also little nodules on the bass side of the neck all the way to the body. I asked Schecter and they said if I don’t like it to return the guitar, so I did. One was a c1 sls elite, the other a C1 apocalypse. I’m happy with my Ibanez. Also, my Ibanez came with a case. Schecter’s don’t even come with a gig bag.
Funny, you get the same story about Schecter AND Ibanez. That's why I stressed multiple times in this series that you HAVE to play a guitar before you know it's yours. In the days of online shopping that's a challenge. If you can get in a store to try it..GO!!! :)
I really like the looks of the Schecter one. I have other Schecters like Reaper-6 (changed to kluson locking tuners) and Hellraiser Hybrid (FR). I wouldve chosen the Schecter too since their necks feel just right and that one with fishmans would be a welcome addition.
Very interesting Dan. I ended up being a little surprised by your final choice! This was mainly because I thought you looked most comfortable on the PRS, and the break was easily the best of the three (IMHO 😁). However the most important has to be how you feel - I hope it works out well for you. More guitar playing please! 👍
Love your perspective. The PRS surely was a potentially good option but in my hands, it was the Schecter all the way....Thanks for following this series! :)
I had the custom racing red in my hands yesterday and couldn’t quite decide whether to buy it or not. My current guitar is an epiphone les Paul prophecy custom plus (old one), so schecter is a big jump in price for me. After seeing all the hype I think I’m going to have to buy it.
Of all my guitars, 30 to choose from, I own two Schecter guitars, one c6 Deluxe FR & one c6 Deluxe hardtail & surprisingly, my hardtail is in my arms daily/ the most!
Funny, I like the Schecter tuners over the tuners on the Ibanez. It’s all about preference though. I have two Scheters a C1 and KM6 and two Ibanez guitars, I too like the Schecters a bit more than the Ibby’s.
I don’t know if it’s the tuners on this particular guitar but they are just not great. They seem to lose tension. It’s weird. The Ibanez had the Gotoh locking tuners. I thought those were great. But I’m happy with the Schecter overall.
really helpful, thank yo man. I will take the SLS PT version of Schecter (with the tele shape). your video clearly help me to validate my decision. cheerssss
Personally, I'd be torn between Ibanez and Schecter..but would prefer different models from those two brands. I love my Schecters, but have also been an Ibanez fan since I was a teenager. All three are great brands!!
I have a long history with Ibanez too but this one just didn't cut it. But both brands have a ton of options so many gems to unearth/. thanks for watching!
@@LonelyRocker Yep. That particular Axion label didn't fit your needs, but I'm sure Ibanez has a model that would as well as PRS and several Schecters. Great video!! Keep it up!!
schecters are great guitars, and have been so roadworthy for decades on tours ive seen in so many guitar racks so they have stood up to the rigours of the road . so well made and great tones and feel, and great fit and finish, we had a schecter PT ( the Pete Townsend tele with hum buckers ) on the Golodfinger tour that throws crowd surfing, being flung around nightly and stayed in tune start to finish, id do guitar swaps with John put it oj my tuner and it was perfectly in tune every swap already, no guitar ever stays in tune after that abuse, but that guitar was solid,
I have been very impressed with it and have very much enjoyed it since this video. Definitely one of my go to guitars now. I was never much of an import guy but Schecter opened my eyes!
I have a PRS McCarty (USA) which is about perfect for me. I have a '98 Ibanez Blazer 21 reissue that is a truly impressive guitar and a great shredder. Schecter is next on my list. Of all the guitars I own, the Carvin DC 127 tops the list. It bonds with my soul and becomes part of me when I play it. The LAG Imperator (custom shop) is right behind it.
Can't agree more I bought a PT SLS (Tele inspired shape) a month ago In the same finish and it's one of my Favorites and most certainly the one on my wall of 12 I reach for the most these days
Schecter is my new favorite guitar brand. About a used super shredder and couldn't believe how amazing the neck was. Playability is probably the number one factor for me as well. Now I'm looking for my second schecter. Unfortunately long and McQuade doesn't seem to keep many in stock.
I've been shopping for a new guitar and was looking for something close to my Jackson pro soloist, but with a couple better specs. I'm ordering the C-1 Fr SLS elite, but with the floyd. Nice videos
Thanks!! And awesome! I wanted a hard tail for this guitar but I often go to grab a bar (that’s not there) when playing this guitar. Enjoy yours! Awesome guitar!
ohh nice mix of guitars to look at, I looked at the Ibanez prior to a trip to see my lady in Florida, I almost pulled the trigger but then swerved hard to a PRS s2 McCarty 594, a complete change to very traditional and no fancy features like the retune but im glad with the prs , aside from the super glossy finish its a gorgeous guitar in the hands and playability, and I managed to pick the least flame maple top I could find and is almost a plain top ,.
Great series man! I really enjoyed the videos! I think you made the right choice. Personally I would have probably gone for the PRS but that's mainly because I tend to like guitars with a little bit more "meat" on them. Great stuff dude!
Thanks man! The Schecter just had the mojo over the other two. Behind the scenes I played a couple of ESP Phoenix this week. Got to understand what you like. 🤟🏼🎸
Great video! Marco is a fantastic guy. He always has great suggestions. He got me into Revv and now, possibly, Schecter. I tried the Holcomb SE (guessing the 2023 model) last month with a 25w Blackstar amp at the L&M North York store. That puppy sounded like a sonic gem. But setting my sights on a Schecter… solo-II most likely.
He's a great dude!! And love that location...I'm there quite often. Those pickups on the PRS are Stellar....I just didn't love the playability. Schecters are great...you'll love it. I have my eye on a Solo too :)
Thanks for the reviews, watched all 4 vids. was looking for some more SLS elite reviews when i found your series and what dya know, you chose it in the end! as viewers i think we could tell which one you were gonna pick right after the schecter video :D think you might've just sold me on it! love the vids btw, great job and great playing!
Awesome! Thanks so much! Was I leading a bit ;) The guitar really surprised me. Really enjoying it. I am planning to change the tuners but the rest of the guitar is REALLY good. Get one!! Hope to hear form you again!
Traditional or not i also personally prefer to have a tone knob, i think its a great thing to have on your guitar but im also aware of that theres many who leave it at 10. Nothing wrong with that ofcourse. Great choice is a nice looking one
Thanks!! I guess when you're going full steam into a high gain amp it doesn't matter so much. But I definitely plan to use this guitar for a lot more and it's nice to be able to take the edge off when needed. Thanks for watching!
I want to get my first electric guitar.. been watching videos on the Schecter Solo 2. I can't play yet but I have to start somewhere. What should I do? 🤔🎸
I have a Solo 2 and it's a great guitar. As this is your first guitar I would perhaps look at a starter guitar. Schecter has a ton of affordable models too. If you have the budget and want to dive right in, sure...a good guitar may inspire you to play more. But many quit soon after starting. You know yourself best...spend accordingly. You won't know what you actually like until you get into it for real....
I tried the RGD in a store, the fretwork was abysmal. It literally shredded the top layer of the skin on my fingers. I tried another one at another store, the fret edges were sharp as well. Something is not right with the QC on these.
Wow. Crazy you had that experience. Maybe there is something with this model. Could be the wood. Likely shrinking and needs a good fret job after purchase.
Oh man, I don't know how I'd choose. I've had the SE Holcomb and it was cool but it definitely lacks in the specs department. Schecter are a good solid brand that I know I can trust, but the Evertune bridge on the Ibanez would probably sway me towards the Ibanez instead
I was rooting for the Schecter all the way. Tough competition, they're incredible for having high-end hardware at an affordable price throughout the decades. The C-1 is beloved by Schecter fans, and this helped me decide to get it in the vintage orange burst.
The C-1 Platinum is beloved by everyone. I'm a PRS guy through and through, but I've played the Holcomb and a C-1 Platinum and I'd take the C-1 all day. I've even seen someone who's main guitar was a PRS CE 24 and he was playing a C-1 for like an hour at Guitar Center because he loved it that much. But I'll take a Custom 24 over anything but that's not on the list right now lol XP
Schecter all day long. I have a banshee elite 7 and the quality is above my custom shop ESPs, Stratocaster and Les Paul... Its a shame the expensive guitars aren't as good but hey, that's the truth.
I think you'll pick the PRS. I personally like schecters. But my skillet and pay grade puts me in the Jackson dinky department. And I'm not heartbroken about it. I'll be experimenting with it. And possibly just craft my own hotrod. I'm interested to see which one you chose, though.
I have played and handled that PRS, that SLS, and Ibanez Prestige models (not the one you played). Absolutely HATED the Fishman Moderns but the SLS is an absolute monster and playability is off the chart. My Bud has the SLS and we swapped the pickups out and it is absolutely perfect in every way. The Ibanez Prestige has the Edge trem. Having bad frets seems odd as this one is absolutely perfect in every way (also stainless). I know yours isn’t SS or a prestige but every mid level Ibanez I’ve ever played had amazing fret work. Think you got a dud. That’s just bad luck. The PRS is a good guitar but out of those three it’s definitely 3rd place yet a really awesome guitar. In my opinion the SLS is the best but an evertune SLS would be even better. Maybe Schecter will make one. Enjoyed your vids. Very good presentation
Goes to show how important it is to get your hands on the guitar you intend to buy. The same guitar from different runs can be so different. I'm thrilled with the Schecter. It gives me something I didn't have here. And I'm enjoying the Fishmans because, again, they are different from anything I have here. Really appreciate your thoughts. Thanks for checking out the channel!!!
The stank face expression you had while playing the Schechter in your model specific video convinced me you'd pick it! I'm deciding between an Omen Elite, Reaper 6, and the Holcomb signature. Unfortunately, there aren't any local Schechter dealers to try one out in person.
Ha!!! I guess I have a tell!!! Well, short of getting your hands on them study the specs and pick the one who's neck profile is best suited to you. But it's so hard to know. You can't go wrong with any of those. It just comes down to your personal experience...good luck!!! Hope you pick gives you the same stank face :)
I am a ibanez guy but ive owned both the prs abd and schecters . So i still own 2 ibanez and 1 schecter. Traded prs for a Brian moore i1, im satisfied with my choices
For me, the sound dont matter, that can be tweaked quite easily: for me the winner is the prs thanks to the 20" inch radius! Barely any non custom guitars have that
I've always been a huge fan of Schecter. I've owned three in my life (Demon-6, Omen-6, and an Omen Elite-6), and the only one I wasn't crazy about was the Demon. Didn't like the active pickups in that one, but I'm in love with the other two. My Elite 6 has become my mod guitar and my Omen is my workhorse. I technically have a few nicer guitars (I have a PRS 24-08 that I adore), but there's just something about my Schecters.
I have to agree with you. I own other more expensive, American made guitars. This Schecter sits right in that collection and I’m using it a lot. I would consider getting another for sure!
I explained that in the standalone Schecter video: th-cam.com/video/zd7u9X6XiAg/w-d-xo.html Those push/pulls are to change the voicing of the pickups. Not to coil split...
Nice! I really enjoyed the video. I get what you're saying about the tuners. I have 2 Schecter guitars -- a Solo II Custom, and a C-1 Exotic. The tuners on my Solo are perfect, have that feel of quality to them. Not so with my C-1, a couple of the tuners are a little wonky. There's a slight bit of play in the 5th string tuner, it moves a little before it starts adjusting the turning. Not a lot mind you, maybe a 1/2 a millimeter, but, it's noticeable. The 2nd string turner sticks a little when I first start to adjust the tuning, nothing serious, but again, it's noticeable. Gladly, it doesn't affect tuning stability. The tuners on both guitars look physically identical, so, where my Solo II was built in south Korea and my C-1 was built in Indonesia, maybe is a supply issue? or, a difference in QC? I'll probably replace the tuners on my C-1, or at least change the wonky ones.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. I have the same symptoms. A little give and sometimes they ping similar to the sound you get with a string binding in the nut. I’m still looking for replacements. So hard to get Gotoh for some reason.
The tuners on my SLS 7 are about the same. They have an odd ratio compared to the hipshot tuners. I do love it besides that though. And if the moderns dont do it, they are easy to swap for other fishmans or even EMGs.
Probably the Schecter. Yes! Tuning machines are the easiest thing to remedy. Are those Grover tuners? Grover's are my least favorite of the premium type tuners.
All the solos were recorded on different days. So a number of factors would have influenced the tone. My interests were what the guitar inspired in my playing.
@@LonelyRocker. Yes sir. Have a blue Reaper 6, and had a charcoal brown Omen Elite before that, which I regret selling very much. They both sound great and feel so great. I always say Schecters feel like that worn in pair of gloves that just fit perfectly. Great necks on them for sure. Yep, Schecters are huge right now.
I don't know, I've been playing since the late 70's and mostly played a Yamaha FG acoustic I bought in the mid 80's and a custom Ibanez RC circa 83, 84 for three-plus decades. Pardon my comments to this channel as I am just a "casual" player. If its decent quality and you can make it sing, then its a good guitar. So I guess I'm still a beginner. Its kinda like coffee, beer and liquor...if you like what it does for you, good enough! If not, try something better. Just commenting for all of us plebes that only play for our own personal satisfaction. Just bought a PRS John Holcomb a week ago along with the VOX AC15C1 and I haven't a clue how much damage I can do with the pair but I'm guessing I can make it work. Just my plebeian contemplation. Sometimes you just have to go with your gut. All that aside, thank you for your videos! I highly recommend them! Unfortunately, I cannot tell much of a difference even with good ear phones....hearing is gone according to my wife! I still wish I didn't give away my Ibanez back in the 80's! loved that guitar (long story).
Thank you! You are right. It doesn’t matter your level. It’s how it feels In Your hands. That was the aim for this video series. In an age of online shopping I think it’s critical to get your hands on a guitar before you buy it. It’s such a personal thing. Thanks for sharing your insight! Hope to hear from you again….
Agree with your decision 100%. - but I get very confused at the weight you place on various features on these guitars. Your stated objective, way back, was to get a MODERN guitar into your signal chain, something the LP's and Tele's just were not doing (esp through that ENGL). However, I actually lost count of the times you said - and I quote here - "but I'm a traditional guy". Hmmmm. Can you have both? Probably, but then you're into custom shop and Suhr land and matching prices. Mid priced guitars have to compromise on SOMETHING, and in your case you made the right decision with the South Korean model, but Fishmans are the very defination of NOT traditional. So - I got lost. Still very glad you chose wghat has become my workhorse guitar. Cheers.
Well clearly I can’t change who I am. While my objective was to find a modern guitar that suited me I’m clearly a creature of habit. And now that I’ve had this guitar for quite some time now I can tell you I use it for much more than just high gain tones. And that’s a testament to how much I like the guitar. But it’s not perfect. I’m considering doing a follow up. And those tuners ARE terrible. How are the tuners on yours? Mine click and loose tension. I really need to replace them.
I am honestly writing this after just stopping the video after you played the solo part with the last guitar (the ibanez) I really think the PRS sounded the best through out these tests. I bet those pickups are a huge part of it, really sounds amazing so I think there is quite a bit of difference in tone between these guitars. The Fishman I have never liked and I do not like active pickups at all, I do think however the Fishman pickups sounds a lot better than other active pickups. Schecters I have a couple of but they are not my favourites, I bought them because of back in the day Schecter actually gave you a lot of guitar for the money. They still are priced pretty good but not like before, they are much closer to the rest of the brands nowadays with what you are getting for your money. Like 6 years ago Schecter would have no problem with fitting Gotoh locking tuners on the guitar in the video and charge you 12 000 Canadian. I guess the recession depression hit Schecter really hard =(
Those pickups in the PRS are killer without a doubt. I didn't have any experience with Schecter before this one but I'm really impressed with this model. Except for those tuners but as I said it's an easy swap out. I also haven't had much experience with active pickups being more of a traditional player but I had fun experimenting with these...
@@LonelyRocker But the pickups in the Schecter is passive right ? You mean you had fun experimenting with the active Fishman's in the Ibanez ? Many of my friends had those classical active EMG's in the early 2000's I always used passive Dimarzio's or Ducans, less sterile sound among other things.
@@LonelyRocker I am choosing now between a PRS SE Standard in vintage red or a yellow or white Ibanez JEMJR the cheapest Steve Vai signature guitar. I will trade in one of my Schecters for one of those guitars and sell the other Schecter since I do not like them very much :P The Ibanez will be better for leadplaying but the PRS has better sound and quality I think, plus the Ibanez has a Floyd Rose so it is more of a hassle tuning the guitar and changing strings. The PRS trem system actually holds it's tuning good considering it is not a double locking one. On the PRS I am thinking about putting the Alpha & Omega pickups on, like the ones you tried. In the Ibanez I would go for the Dimarzio Super Distortion and the Dimarzio PAF PRO in the neck or a Duncan Jazz or Sentient in the neck =)
100%...Fishman pickups have voicings...The push/pull changes the voicing from a modern voicing to a more passive sound. No coil split on this guitar...
I haven’t upgraded them yet because I haven’t been able to get the ones I want. But I hate the tuners on there. Love the guitar but the tuners are terrible. I will replace them as soon as I can find the ones I want.
I agree with schecter being the best of this group. But how are you doing a direct comparison during the solo section trying to see the DIFFERENCES, yet on the Ibanez you have phaser or chorus on. But the other guitars you don’t.
These videos were done weeks apart and then all came together in this final announcement...I was talking mainly about how each guitar inspired the solo saying that the tone differences were mainly negligible and how each guitar brought out some different sides of my playing. I believe I did actually say that in the video :)
The "only" flaw with the review was doing different solos. I've owned Ibanez guitars my entire life so be surprised when I say the PRS tone (to my ears) sounded substantially better than the other two that share the same pickups. The PRS simply has "clarity" and "girth" no matter what you're laying down. The other two just sound typical Ibanez ... and if that's your thing then the Schector was definitely the better of the two. I remember when Schector was the poor mans guitar - my how it's grown!
This was part 4 in the series. I did independent videos of each guitar. So I edited together hilights from the previous videos as opposed to showing an exact A/B/C comparison.
Schecter are making amazing guitars! I own that same model and it is my best one. Have a DJ Ashba that plays great also. One of my boys is an Ibanez fan, great guitars (RGA42HP for example) but Schecter has an extra edge/feel. Really happy for you buddy, great purchase!
These mini saga's might produce some interesting analytics - don't you need a new 5-6 string bass? I totally get the no finish on the neck - I love the fast feel "no matter what" of wood.
I think you're right. Though you would have to do that with the tuners too. Ibanez can make some weird decisions...that's for damn sure. It's a good guitar though....
Does anybody know anything about the Schecter C-1 custom? I know the specs: ebony fretboard with mother of pearl split crown inlays, Seymour Duncan custom pick-ups. But how does it sound and play? There isn't any at guitar shops near me. There's one on Reverb for 540.00. Thanks!
It’s an older model. It is made in the South Korean factory. It’s so hard to know if it’s right for you without getting your own hands on it. If it’s cheap maybe worth the gamble.
@@LonelyRocker Lov it After My Guitar Tech got a Hold Of It.. I did Have Sweetwater Change The PRS Tuners To Locking Tuners..Swapped Out The Plastic Nut for a Tusq Nut..SW Recommend I Do a Plex Setup on My PRS SE Mark Holcomb..(Never Heard Of The Plex Setup..But Why Not) However When I Got The Guitar Delivered Wasn't Happy with Guitar Action Height, Evenness..The consistency of the action across fretboard was not set up very well. Im glad you didn't choose the Ibanez. Im sure its a perfectly good guitar, but im sorry, it looks silly. Those long pointy pointy cut aways are a little ridiculous! And i don't see the need for an Evertune, except for maybe in a School setting for students. Tuning stability wont be an issue with a proper set up and decent tuners.
It just wasn't for me. While the Schecter is different than anything I own it felt like my guitar in my hands. I'm still enjoying that guitar. I'm still planning to replace the tuners as soon as I find what I want. But overall I'm enjoying that guitar. Cheers!
The most expensive one has sharp fret ends!? This is literally the one thing I can’t overlook on a guitar. Disappointed by Ibanez lately. I want to buy more Jackson guitars because they are the best looking guitar on planet earth, but it seems like every single model has sharp frets… sucks. Schecter all the way!
When I first decided I wanted a modern spec guitar I looked at Ibanez first. Every guitar I tried disappointed me. That Schecter really surprised me the second I had it in my hands. Not perfect but exceptional quality for the money. Really enjoying it.
I might get eaten alive for this but I just watched Ibanez get 💩 on. Schecter has become my absolute favorite, even their diamond series are a league of its own for the price…

I was not surprised that Schecter won. Their models in recent years are excellent. This SLS Elite line for example has a neck-through construction, Ernie Ball compensated nut, stainless steel frets, great neck profile, Fishman pickups, locking tuners, simply perfect instruments.
It blew me away. In the past I would never have even looked at an import. I’m converted. It’s a VERY good guitar and thrilled I own it now 🎸😎🤘🏽
100% and nothing is overpriced which makes them even better
what?:D that ibanez should have won this shootout. evertune bridge does the thing. also bigger scale.
I really like my evil twin

Ive had over 15 electric guitars over the years, Schecter has been my fav for the last 3 years. Phenomenal quality and price point.
Probably the best value for the money I have played recently. Totally agree!
Not surprised on the Schecter at all. They are unique in the market - a great balance of specs, cost, quality, and value for the cost.
Really! This guitar caught me by surprise. Haven't put it down since :)

Fun fact, Schecter is actually older than Jackson hahahaha
The schecter Hellraiser C1 diamond black cherry 🍒 is a stunning guitar. I can't stop thinking about it.

I just bought the same Schecter guitar. I have to say a really beautiful instrument and I have to admit I prefer it over my Ibanez rg prestige, the weight , the ergonomic is just on another level for its price
Sweet! Enjoy it!
Schecter is killing it right now. Even their cheaper models are insane
Totally agree. I just responded to another comment with a similar statement 😂
What midrange model would you recommend? I want to finally upgrade from my epi Les paul
What’s your budget?
@@LonelyRocker I was thinking up to £500/600$ but would also love to hear £1000/1000$ options
@@IGarrettI Schecter C6/ Reaper 6
One of the silver linings of Schechter's being a bit less realized for the value is you can get killer deals on used ones as well.
Yes. In the comments I have been made aware of some killer deals. There is a huge Schecter aftermarket and tons of deals to be had.
Thanks! Yeah...super happy with my choice...been really enjoying it :)
Great review - thank you! Just picked up the PRS Tremonti SE 23 and love it!
My pleasure! And thank you. Enjoy yours!!
I just got the blood burst color. This is the best guitar I own. I love it
Awesome! Enjoy it!
I’ve had two
Schecters.
It's a really fun guitar to play. It got me right away. Head and shoulders above the other two! Thanks for watching!
I used to have a reaper and the tuning issues drove me insane. I had to retune it after every damn song.
Go for it!!!
Schecters are excellent. My favorite too. I have 7...so far.
Nice! I’m really happy with it. Popped on some new strings and set it up and it’s feeling and sounding really great.
Of all my guitars, 30 to choose from, I own two Schecter guitars, one c6 Deluxe FR & one c6 Deluxe hardtail & surprisingly, my hardtail is in my arms daily/ the most!
Nice! Sounds like quite the collection!
Buying the same guitar next week!! Good choice
Sweeet! Enjoy it!!!
I will take the SLS PT version of Schecter (with the tele shape). your video clearly help me to validate my decision. cheerssss
Sweet! I love that model too! Enjoy it man. Happy to be a small part of your decision. Jam a tune for me!😎🤟🏼🎸
I have an SE and a Schecter. I love them both differently and would be hard pressed to choose between them. Both are fantastic!
That's a nice duo! there was a lot I liked about the SE. But I could only choose one. Not to say more guitars won't make their way in here ;)
Nice! Glad you found the right match! I think you made the right choice. Enjoy playing it! Also - I really dig the retro Atari T-shirt! :)
Me too! It was the t-shirt that convinced me 😂
Personally, I'd be torn between Ibanez and Schecter..but would prefer different models from those two brands.
Thanks so much!
schecters are great guitars, and have been so roadworthy for decades on tours ive seen in so many guitar racks so they have stood up to the rigours of the road . so well made and great tones and feel, and great fit and finish, we had a schecter PT ( the Pete Townsend tele with hum buckers ) on the Golodfinger tour that throws crowd surfing, being flung around nightly and stayed in tune start to finish, id do guitar swaps with John put it oj my tuner and it was perfectly in tune every swap already, no guitar ever stays in tune after that abuse, but that guitar was solid,
I have been very impressed with it and have very much enjoyed it since this video.
Sounds lime you've got some nice axes there!
Can't agree more I bought a PT SLS (Tele inspired shape) a month ago In the same finish and it's one of my Favorites and most certainly the one on my wall of 12 I reach for the most these days
Killer guitars for the money. Enjoy yours!! I love that model too...
Schecter is my new favorite guitar brand. About a used super shredder and couldn't believe how amazing the neck was. Playability is probably the number one factor for me as well. Now I'm looking for my second schecter. Unfortunately long and McQuade doesn't seem to keep many in stock.
Yeah. They can order them but they just don’t stock many. Shame. Great guitars for sure!
I have a Schecter solo ll custom and for the life of me don't even know why I would consider swapping out for either of these others. It's flawless!
I have that one on my list!! :)
ohh nice mix of guitars to look at, I looked at the Ibanez prior to a trip to see my lady in Florida, I almost pulled the trigger but then swerved hard to a PRS s2 McCarty 594, a complete change to very traditional and no fancy features like the retune but im glad with the prs , aside from the super glossy finish its a gorgeous guitar in the hands and playability, and I managed to pick the least flame maple top I could find and is almost a plain top ,.
I have prs holcomb but I've also got my heart set on a Schecter reaper 6. For the money it's a steal.
I'm not surprised, Schecter has been killing it over the past few years. My Solo II evil twin is my favorite guitar.
You should watch my follow ups on this 🤣
Thanks for the reviews, watched all 4 vids. was looking for some more SLS elite reviews when i found your series and what dya know, you chose it in the end! as viewers i think we could tell which one you were gonna pick right after the schecter video :D think you might've just sold me on it! love the vids btw, great job and great playing!
It was tough but not really. With the guitars in my hands the choice was easy. And that was the point of the whole series. 🤟🏼🎸😎
Love your presentation
Thank you so much!!! 😀
I was rooting for the Schecter all the way. Tough competition, they're incredible for having high-end hardware at an affordable price throughout the decades. The C-1 is beloved by Schecter fans, and this helped me decide to get it in the vintage orange burst.
Sweet! It’s a really great guitar. It gets a ton of use here. I’m certain you’ll love yours! Enjoy it!
My SLS Evil Twin came impeccable and tuned to perfection from action to intonation. It didn't have anything to do on it. Unbelievable.
Sweet. I’m enjoying mine but the tuners suck. As soon as I can find the ones I want they’re getting swapped!!!!
@@LonelyRocker
You mention that in your video. Are they Grover tuners?
Schecter all day long.
I have a banshee elite 7 and the quality is above my custom shop ESPs, Stratocaster and Les Paul... Its a shame the expensive guitars aren't as good but hey, that's the truth.
I’m a new Schecter lover now. I’m sure we’ll be seeing another here sometime soon 😎🎸🤘🏽
I think you'll pick the PRS. I personally like schecters. But my skillet and pay grade puts me in the Jackson dinky department. And I'm not heartbroken about it. I'll be experimenting with it. And possibly just craft my own hotrod. I'm interested to see which one you chose, though.
Oops 🤣
@@LonelyRocker *skillset. 😆
Its hard to pick any of these guitars 0:52 🎸they all sound great
That’s why you HAVE to try them before you buy….
Could you share the DI files? I wanna know especially the tonal difference between the Ibanez and Schecter on my rig.
Unfortunately I can't do that from here. Though I may be persuaded from my Patreon Gold members if you are interested....
I really like the Schecter guitars. I had a C1 Blackjack that was great. But, I do like the necks are PRS, so I went with a CE24.
Proof positive why we need to play the guitars before we buy.
I am a ibanez guy but ive owned both the prs abd and schecters .
So i still own 2 ibanez and 1 schecter. Traded prs for a Brian moore i1, im satisfied with my choices
That’s what counts. Finding the guitars that work for you. And I’m sure you got plenty of hands on with all of them to k ow that. Cheers!
I have 4 Schecter guitars including that exact SLS Elite. It's my favorite guitar.
Sweet! It’s a great guitar.
For me, the sound dont matter, that can be tweaked quite easily: for me the winner is the prs thanks to the 20" inch radius! Barely any non custom guitars have that
That’s a personal preference. It didn’t feel right in my hands but I’m not knocking it. It was a serious candidate. And I loved the pickups too.
@@LonelyRocker for sure its personal pref :) its hard to go wrong with either one of these great guitars!!
this is indeed tough, i have an ibanez but i like the sound of the prs it sounds like a big guitar
Was quite the challenge!! Lots has happened since this. You should follow along!!
I got a good deal on a used Keith Merrow Mk3. Fantastic guitar for the money🤘
Sweet! Enjoy it!
You said you can't coil split with the schecter but aren't those push pull pots? I see the tags on them.
At the price point I couldn't expect perfection. But yes, easy swap outs. I'm shopping for them already ;-)
Probably the Schecter.
Yes! Tuning machines are the easiest thing to remedy. Are those Grover tuners? Grover's are my least favorite of the premium type tuners.
Nice guess 😎I coveted all the specs in the standalone Schecter video. You should check it out. They are Schecter branded tuners.
You are amazing!
My mother thinks so 😂😂
The lead was much more seasoned sounding on the ibanez sounded much smoother in the upper mid range as well
All the solos were recorded on different days. So a number of factors would have influenced the tone. My interests were what the guitar inspired in my playing.
Schecters are the rage and rightfully so. Amazing guitars at every price point.
Totally agree! Do you have one?
@@LonelyRocker. Yes sir. Have a blue Reaper 6, and had a charcoal brown Omen Elite before that, which I regret selling very much. They both sound great and feel so great. I always say Schecters feel like that worn in pair of gloves that just fit perfectly. Great necks on them for sure. Yep, Schecters are huge right now.
Well said!
I’m bought a 700 shaun white diamond i mean it played an sounded great ?
If it plays and sounds great then it's the one for you!!
So I am going to make my guess six minutes in... you keep the Schecter, but you upgrade the tuners to hipshot locking tuners to match the bridge??
Well played 🤘🏽🎸
I will trade in one of my Schecters for one of those guitars and sell the other Schecter since I do not like them very much :P
The Ibanez will be better for leadplaying but the PRS has better sound and quality I think, plus the Ibanez has a Floyd Rose so it is more of a hassle tuning the guitar and changing strings.
No. The schecter has the same Fishman fluence moderns as the Ibanez.
Decision Decisions! 🤣🤘🏽🎸
Are you sure there's not a coil split on the SLS? What are those push/pulls for?
100%...Fishman pickups have voicings...The push/pull changes the voicing from a modern voicing to a more passive sound. No coil split on this guitar...
Well, I already have the PRS so you know my pick!
I guess it’s obvious! 😎🎸🤘🏽
Hi Dan, did you upgrade the locking tuners or did you choose to keep using the Schecter branded ones? Like you I'm finding them lacking.
I haven’t upgraded them yet because I haven’t been able to get the ones I want. But I hate the tuners on there. Love the guitar but the tuners are terrible. I will replace them as soon as I can find the ones I want.
@@LonelyRocker Please share which ones you end up replacing them with when you do.
I will do...I've been trying tog et some Gotoh Tuners...they seem like the best fit. I will make a short if I get them....
You can never go wrong with Schecter, ever!
I now know that to be true!:)
All three are great
Good guitars for sure!
Thanks! I thought Ibanez would be the sentimental choice but this Schecter blew it away. Really enjoying it!
These mini saga's might produce some interesting analytics - don't you need a new 5-6 string bass? I totally get the no finish on the neck - I love the fast feel "no matter what" of wood.
This was a lot of work!!!! But knowing me I'll do it again :)
I would pick the schecter
Good choice :)
I love that ibanez but have no idea why they didn’t put a chrome Evertune on it and put that black one on it and made it look terrible.
We compared the LTD Deluxe H1001 vs. Schecter Hellraiser C1, the hellraiser is better
I have t done a direct comparison but my first LTD is far superior to my first Schecter. Not knocking the Schecter though because I like the guitar.

I find that the action was not parallel across the fretboard. It had higher action on frets 12 and lower action on frets..(The Higher action on frets 12 wasn't even Playable..Way To High..It was Just Awful) So I Asked SW to Credited $250 PLEX Setup Back To My Acct...and They Did..(Beware) The PLEX Setup Is Not all Cracked up to be and it is not as good as other people have said it is and My Guitar Tech Agreed.. www.sweetwater.com/shop/guitars/plek/index.php
Cheers!
IMO Schecter is THE brand to beat right now. I purchased a mk3 km6 and its incredible.
Nice! I agree. They keep putting out gems.
Schecter is killing it lately, but I'm a PRS man lol
We all have our favs!
@@LonelyRocker yep... But PRS is the best lol
I am team Ibanez
Schecter is killing it no doubt. Ibanez guitars I have tried have been underwhelming.
👍
Yesterday I was playing 8 strings Ibanez and schecter tottaly schecter was won nice
I’m sold on Schecter for sure! Which one did you play?
Man I rather buy the 1980 ATARI VIDEO GAME RIVER RAID 😁😁😁
🤪🤪🤪
Prs
Great option...just maybe not that day ;)
Schecter
shecter is what jackson used to be.
Interesting point....
Tone is the same on all of them. Use the same speakers you get the same tone
Certainly similar but they each have their own characteristics.
