I’m at the end of my course and I haven’t been anymore happier! To be honest, I’m excited that I’ll be off it soon so I can focus on the next step of my skincare journey! Awesome video ❤
Really happy for you that you’re nearing the end of the course! It’s not an easy med to take by any means but for the right patient it is really lifechanging
Well organize video and very informative, but where is the sunscreen in the AM routine??? I’d love to know what sunscreen you recommend for accuating treatment.
Accutane delays wound healing primarily because it affects the normal turnover of skin cells. It reduces sebum (skin oil) production and alters the skin's natural regeneration process. This can lead to a thinner epidermis, impacting the skin's ability to heal efficiently.
Dr park. Any advice for patients taking accutane who are male? I haven’t been able to shave for 10 years due to severe cystic acne including in my beard so I have to trim with clippers. However during accutane of course I’m extremely dry in that area and it’s hard to cleanse properly due to hair being in the way, and a moisturiser is tough as I’m worried about clogged pores
Hello, so sorry to hear about the difficulties with shaving due to acne; I can imagine that being really tough. The acne will clear up throughout your course on Accutane and the shaving will hopefully get easier! For now I would use an oil free cleanser and a non-comedogenic gentle oil free moisturizer like the ones I recommended in this video
Thank you for this video! Love your edits! What do you think about low-dose accutane? I'm talking 10mg/per day for a longer period of time. My derm put me on low-dose accutane. My skin's been doing really well, so we're slowly coming down on the dose. I live in Thailand and accutane can be very expensive, so being on a low dose is more affordable while still being effective.
Hello - thanks for the kind words! Using low dose accutane is off label, meaning Accutane isn't officially approved to be used at those dosages for those indications. That being said, a few of my attendings had told me in residency that they themselves use low dose Accutane for acne or rosacea and that they prescribed low dose accutane to select patients long term for control of acne. Of course, these patients also had to keep in mind all the side effects, and had to make sure they couldn't get pregnant while on this medication! Ultimately it's a discussion that you have with your doc
I’m 31, just started on accutane 20mg last week. It’s my first time taking it. I already have dry skin before starting treatment and something I’ve always found helpful is the Medik8 C-Tetra serum which has the THD form of vitamin C in it and has been a key part in the past of healing my broken barrier and keeping it happy. Is this likely going to be too much for my skin on accutane? Also, a suggestion: I’ve found the CeraVe cleanser drying in the past, even when not using retinoids. Another affordable option I’ve found that leaves my skin feeling more hydrated is the Byoma Milky Moisture Cleanser - it’s fragrance free and has a bunch of ingredients meant particularly for sensitive/irritated skin
Hi! Thank you for such interesting and informative video. Also, I would like to see video about Post-Accutane routine. What are the best products you suggest to use to keep skin healthy? Thanks!
Thanks for the helpful video! My dermatologist recommended me to continue using tretinoin cream 0.025 every night while taking isotretinoin 20mg. What are your thoughts? Do you recommend me to use Vaseline on top for my night routine? 😊
Thank you this informative video doctor ❤ What are your thoughts about bioderma intensive baume? Can it be used on face while taking on acne treatment?
Hey I am on isotretinoin 20 mg have been using benzoyl peroxide at night...is that fine? my acne is getting worse and reddish. And a alot of new big cystic acne is appearing. I am really fed up and tired of it
Me too im on 20 mg and had benzoyl peroxide for morning and night. My face is so red swollen i stop taking my set of skin care because its a lot from soap to clindamycin solution its so extreme i got depressed as it got worse and very swollen in my 3rd week mind you i have to go to work everyday. 4 days ago i stop taking the skincare now it’s getting stable and not so red. I only now taking my accutane orally and the mild face cleanser. I’ll just explain on my derma on my next visit i wish us luck and finally healing 😢

@TeawithMD Hello, doc. May I seek clarification if HA is helpful in Accutane-induced dryness, given the fact that HA acts as a humectant, so it could steal the water deep within the dermis, thereby causing increased transepidermal loss, and cause long-term dryness? I am currently using Hada Labo Hydrating Lotion with 5 typew of HA. Do you think this is a good source of HA? And isnit better if I would apply an emollient on top of the HA?
I’ve just started my accutane journey, and i am currently in the period where it gets worse before it gets better. At least that’s what i’m told. However i have a problem with picking at my skin 😢 do you have any tips? And does picking my skin on accutane have a bad effect in the long run? 😞
Hello, I’m sorry to hear the acne is flaring! To help with picking I recommend hydrocolloid pimple patches. They keep the acne safe from your fingers and from the outside environment. Picking is risky in the long term, accutane or not, because it can worsen scarring
Just watched your two videos before watching this one. A dermatologist (well known) Just recommended me 10mg of isotretinoin for acne. Its kinda moderate and today os the first the I'm starting the dosage. I didn't did any blood tests nothing he just recommended me. By the way I'm 16 yrs old and 44 kg . I've taken a lot of product that make my skin really dry but it only resulted in more deeper and bigger bumps so I'm kinda afraid
Determine your skin type by cleansing, waiting a few hours, and observing how your skin feels. Normal skin is balanced, oily skin is shiny, dry skin is tight, and combination skin has both. Note pore size and blemishes. Consider environmental factors, and consult a professional if unsure. Adjust your skincare routine based on your skin's evolving needs! Hope that helps
My daughter did great and actually loved some of the side effects…no greasy hair!
That is one plus 😂

hello doc, please make a video a simple skincare routine after stopping using accutane
Sure!
Can you do a video on routine post accutane?
Yes I can!
Why does wound healing change while on Accutane? I’ve popped a few pimples and they are taking longer to heal, even the scabs look different.
Accutane delays wound healing primarily because it affects the normal turnover of skin cells. It reduces sebum (skin oil) production and alters the skin's natural regeneration process. This can lead to a thinner epidermis, impacting the skin's ability to heal efficiently.
Thank you so much, great info 👍👍❤️🇦🇺
Thank you for watching!

Hi, can you make a video For the type of scattered acne, face, back and chest?
My dermat suggested me to undergo chemical peel . I am currently on isotretinoin. Is is completely fine or will it cause any further issues?
Depends on the strength of the peel - I would defer to your derm
Your video was reaaaallyy helpful THANK YOU SOO MUCH

You are purging you shouldn’t use other medication except for accutane, or at least consult ur dermatologist
I wouldn’t use both as they’re both extremely stripping

I thought we should avoid any sort of acids (hyaluronic) just like retinols during accurane treatment
Hyaluronic acid can be very helpful for dealing with accutane-induced dryness

Question on slugging - do you sleep with this on or do you wipe off before bed?
Typically leave it on overnight for dry skin; if you struggle with milia or with oily or acne prone skin I don’t recommend slugging
If you have faced the severe side effects then we stop the medication?
