What a tragic state of affairs that place is.
I love Llandudno, this was once a Grand Hotel,sadly no longer😢 it commands the best position but money is needed for a major refurb,imho.I would never stay there in its present state.😢 Ty for sharing the vlog 🎉
Hi Paul, I wouldn't even stay in that room and not worth that price either. Grand hotel from the outside but not so grand inside. I don't blame you for not going back there especially the check in times absolutely shocking
That was a good, honest review, 4pm check in is ridiculous for a 10am departure, I think you had a lot of patience putting up with that room because I honestly couldn’t have stayed there. It used to be a fabulous hotel but like so many places it’s changed & not for the better. Many thanks Paul xx
Aww goodness Paul, looks like your in the service area😮. It's such a shame that Brittannia have got their hands on all those iconic hotels and not really preserving the heritage of these once beautiful buildings. Great vlog and filming as always.
If Britannia didn't buy these huge old fashioned hotels I'm not sure anyone would.

I would feel unsafe in that hotel...I'd be worried about the electric wiring.
@Robhalifax it's not the fact that britania takes on these hotels it's the lack of refurbishment that's sad they just run them down even more which is sad.
I live in Llandudno and it is such a shame that Brittannia have let the Grand Hotel go in terms of rooms.
Sure they would make more money if they took care of her. Wonderful position and imposing Building. Wish someone else would buy her.
Love Llandudno and no I would have walked out when given that room there are many amazing B&B places in Llandudno for same price and you get daylight windows with NO bird crap on better furniture and plug points that work and a great breakfast many have single rooms also you were in a cell and I would have walked away well done you for staying.. And 4pm is to late for a 10am leaving ..

Hi, thought that was very expensive. That room was so very dark. I would've complained. The food looked horrible to me. And no way would I stay there!
I think the cells in Block H had more light to be honest. What a shame they don't care. Very much on the pricey side for what you get in terms of the room and breakfast, I certainly wouldn't book there. Another interesting video, thank you.

Paul it as had a lot done to it since 2019 it as been done up bright we always had a balcony room the staff were excellent e.g MICHELLA front of house a brilliant helpful lady and very respectful
Paul can I just say it as been done up with new carpets and chairs and decorated since I was last there I have had some good weekends at the grand it is very old building the prices are not too bad but I would only go into a premier ROOMS AND FOOD
Yes totally agree Paul. If they are quiet.......then an upgrade would be the order of the day. Ive had it a number of times with various hotels. For me it has proven a very pleasent surprise. 😊😊😊😊
I used to play in a 1970's tribute band and when we got there in the foyer was a photo of a heavy metal band and seeing as most of the audience were of a mature age group, they were put off by the advert in the foyer so the ballroom was half empty though the people there enjoyed the show and quite a few turned up at the end of the night said they wished they had come in earlier. The staff seemed not to care and were only there because that was their job but didn't want to be there.
Used to give me roses I wish he could again, but that was on the outside and things were different then ……. 🎶 … on the plus side I love the cabaret singers performing. Those two girls were really really good.

All Brittania hotels are the same as an experienced traveller you know what to expect. We have stayed at most. You should play it like this book for room only y then go and help yourself to breakfast and evening meal the staff dont care even the beggars have walked in at some hotels.We live in Blackpool now by Pleasure beach.and the Llandudno hotel is like a palace to some around here

4 o'clock check in is disgrace thought the corridor wasn't very clean so I didn't expect much in the room sorry Paul I wouldn't stay there 44 pound couldn't check in till 4 lucky if I give them 20 pound for that room thanks Paul for sharing ❤❤

Oh gosh no... brave man for staying here. Great video ive watched à few now Paul. I would have cried, cried, cried all night in the shower. Id be bothered and wondering who or what chewed that door frame if this was last resort on earth and only hotel opend in Llandudno 😢😢 im really enjoying watching your videos so nope i definitely wouldn't stay there .😊
I think I Would stay at The Grand but in a better room. I agree the prices are a tad high. Im not sure who their target audience is it coach holidays? Non the less i enjoyed the video Paul, thanks 😊😊😊😊😊

Through Caledonian coach holidays. Picking myself up from Middlesbrough bus station for the low price of £239 per person And this was in August 25°.😂🏴
UK hospitality needs to learn about customer service etc from abroad..i usually fly with Jet2 to Benidorm .its always an early flight from Edinburgh and arrive in Resort sround 12 noon...Room has always been available in every hotel that I've stayed in👍
Same with me usually book in by 12 in Spain
Prisoner cell block H 🤣 the room was extremely grim more like a storage cupboard. Very poor customer service I agree they should have the customer needs as a priority and provided a better room. Check in times ludicrous doesn't make sense at all for a holiday town. Not a great representation of Motown but that's just me. Wouldn't stay pricey and poor standard.Thank you 😊
I stayed here on the 23rd of February, in a double facing the covered court yard , didnt sleep well at all felt to enclosed in and the bed was too hard but our room was very clean. I too think 4pm check in is too late, we arrived by delayed trains got there 3.30pm werent allowed to check in till bang on 4pm silly really especially if the rooms are ready, the next night we had reserved a room at the imperial hotel and that didnt let us down fantastic stay brilliant hotel bit more money but worth it compared to the George , thanks for the video
Ridiculous 10 o'clock check out means you have to get up at 9 for a shower thank you for these reviews helps people to avoid the crap hotels now i am a subscriber
I adore llandudno we go quite often yea 4pm is very late where I work it’s 3pm check in and 11pm check out 😂😂😂 glad yer said it was the floorboards 😂oh no defo would not stop there the room looks very depressin gross the quilt it’s defo a no from me 😊 love your vids till the next one 😊
The standard check in time years ago was 12 o'clock,then increased to 2pm now 4pm ,this is outrageous nearly a full day has gone before you can check in.
That room should only be used as a cleaners cupboard or storeroom that's not fit to be a guest room.Great honest video though.
Good video Paul. It must be bad because you always give the hotels a go, no matter what but it did look grim. I couldn't have stayed there.
I stayed there over twenty years ago, it was horrendous. We went out for a walk and found pigeons walking all over the bed when we came back, nobody said not to open a window.
Hi Paul,
The Grand, was my go to hotel for a number of years, even with difficult parking.
But I could see it going downhill, even then.
If they are doing it up, you still have to get the basics right.
Being out of season, it would have been great customer service to have at least given you a decent room.
Maybe, since we left the EU, Continental staff, with their service skills are hard to come by.
4pm Check in, thats the day gone.

I think the problem at times is some of us are reluctant to complain due to lower price..But if a hotel or room is poor it doesn't matter if its cheap or not..If your not happy i think we should complain if valid .And Paul i think you had a case to 👍

When we go to Llandudno we stay at our favourite Hotel The Headlands it’s wonderful beautiful place to stay
Most hotels in Llandudno are a 10 hr check out.Last time I stayed there I found one, and I think that it was the only one!, with an 11 hr check out.I needed the extra hour as I'd been camping in Snowdonia and the hotel was a freshen up day in-between two camp outs.
A lot of the hotels using this 4 o'clock check in really welcoming not ,hope the staff realise their jobs at risk with poor hospitality, after 5 minutes of your review I'd be checking out,thanks for your review.

It looks like something from the 70's, maybe they were waiting for Joan Ferguson to book people in, Lizzy Birdsworth serving in the bar, did you have a Cell search in the middle of the night?
Paul I stayed in the grand back in 2019 the room was just basic but it was clean and the staff were very helpful sadly I don’t go any more as my brother passed two year ago but we always had PREMIER ROOM AND FOOD it is very dated but the owners won’t modernise it so since lock down it as gone down but I enjoyed my stays at the grand👍👍👍
I think they bite off more than they can manage. BRITTANIA. The public areas are better. Look great infact . Your room is very odd. Bless the girls singing doesnt always pick the sound up properly when recording. 😮❤
I should not go back to that hotel again Paul and a 4 pm check in was ridiculous I didn’t think much of the room it was horrible and the food wasn’t very good at all 😮
All the times I've spent in Llandudno and I never knew that there's a cave inside the Grand Hotel! I think I'd have been the most gutted as soon as I found out that the coffee came from a sachet and not some beans but the amount of lost opportunities is very sad to see. Hopefully they will be worth a trip back once the building work is finished and the bar opens fully but it sounds like a long way to go before you can be proud to say you're staying at the Grand!
Never stayed there .we're in llandudno now at the summerset hotel a daishs it OK for the price.
can you imagine having to stay in that room for a whole week,it would surely give you depression,thank god you only had to suffer it for one night,they could have given you a better located room,and you are right to be disappointed at the quality of your room for the price,its definitely a place i woul avoid,thanks for the review,
Have stayed at the Grand in Blackpool last October on a weekend illuminations trip. Same kind of room decor, albeit very cosy beds and the bar area was very nice with rugby on. Food was a mixture of courses to serve yourself and on night one they were running empty on everything, with rude staff to boot telling us they only had 1 chef and "people coming back 4 or 5 times to get more". We didn't bother with the inclusive food on night 2 and instead purchased pub style food in the bar opposite the dining hall. Decent for a night or two if it was still on your list of hotels to check in Blackpool.
It was a nice town and actually walked past the hotel your staying in and it has some history to it i believe
That's one of the worst rooms I've seen. What a miserable hotel. I love Llandudno but I certainly wouldn't be staying there. I used to like the Queen's Hotel but it closed down for a while and reopened under new management so I don't know what it's like now. I am enjoying all your videos, liked the Blackpool ones, have stayed at the Lyndene several times

Very poor management, started poorly with the member of staff on reception and went downhill from then on. The only plus is that at least you had a hairdryer 😂

most places now are 4.00 check in which is disgusting as you loose a day then 10.00am check out loose another day, that room is disgusting clean enough but shabby, I love Llandudno I would not stay there, what a shame such a majestic building
No it's a nightmare and the food makes it even worse
4pm well too late. We have stayed in two fantastic hotels in Llandudno. If you want their names, let me know. My favourite has an amazing view of Llandudno Bay.

@whoknowswhere Hi Paul.. The Wildings Hotel 14 North Parade is a very nice hotel, This hotel is extremely clean, The staff are very helpful and the breakfast top quality. My favourite is the Belmont 21 North parade, We stay in the balcony room, and the views are great. The room is very spacious, and you get your own coffee machine with coffee pods ? The breakfast is the best we have had in Llandudno, If you fancy going to the hotel that we found terrible in every way, try the lilly restaurant hotel west parade 😜

Disgraceful check in time 4pm, your room although plenty hot water&cumfy bed totally unacceptable price you paid no daylight&dodgy electric plug should asked for another room sure could have found one for you.
Breakfast looked average based on your taste staff not very helpful either had a bad reputation see why.

I went to a Britannia Hotel with Caledonian Holidays (when they were National) with two friends, we had to pay a single supplement for the single room, it was smaller than yours and Barbie would have found the shower room tight.
There were a few laughs in this video, thank you. You had to keep your sense of humour staying in your cell I expect.
How many people were ‘enjoying’ the Motown night? There didn’t look much of an atmosphere in there.

I wouldn't stay in a Britannia hotel if they paid me. How they get away with it is beyond belief. This was a beautiful hotel back in the day.

🤗 Hiya Paul, 4, oclock is late for a hotel, ive been a Headhouse keeper for years, thats late, the only time ive ever had a 4, oclock check in, was when i was a head house keeper for a 8 bedroomed house, but it was always booked & it was always full. Slept over 14, but we said 4, o'clock, so we made sure it was spotless for the next party of people coming in , it tuck 3 cleaners to clean it depending on the state it was left in. But never a hotel. Prisoner sell block H made me laugh. 😂😂 Plus i noticed that you couldn't use the lifts, thats not good enough. 😳😬 How much. No id not pay that, id have you ask to see the rooms, i want to see what im paying for.

Some of these Britannia Hotel's need be bought by an investor with a lot of cash, to restore these Hotel's back to their former glory. It's a shame how some of them are just left to go scruffy and un-cared for. It's a shame really as some of the staff who work in them, are genuinely nice friendly and helpful, it just lets them down.
Definitely wouldn’t stay there I agree could have give you a better room especially seeing it was empty breakfast looked cold no covers over the food price too much for February no wonder it was empty Thankyou for showing us round but it’s a no from me.

I have stayed there in a single room and yours is better than mine.I was very careful at breakfast and still came home with covid.. yuck.never again.

What looked to once be a beautiful hotel, destroyed by Britannia. Sadly, one of many that the cowboys of hoteliers have obliterated.
I stayed at Tiffany’s Hotel a while back in Blackpool and that is also a 4pm check in, 10.30 checkout. Not good when you’re only there for one night. If you want earlier check in plus access to the car park you have to pay extra, because of this I wouldn’t stay there again. 😒
Last time I was in Blackpool September last year, Tiffany's was closed down
its called the not so grand, I stayed there a few years ago and it was awful, the room was through a bar, one window overlooking the sea and the other up to the road, think I would rather sleep in my car then that place again.

We stayed a few years ago it was awful wallpaper stuck down with sellotape room was dirty and the food was crap
A budget hotel is what its about etc...........an old building in the "best" place with the happy valley next door etc............if people want perfection then a budget hotel isn,t the hotel for them etc..........seen worse places for aaa more exp. price etc.......

Ahh such a shame - just those sea views alone are beautiful, definitely needs freshening up and new furniture . Sadly, standards seem to be slipping even more - I think it looked pretty clean and comfortable but I wouldn't have been happy with the attitude of that staff member, no need for it. The room - hmm I wouldn't have liked it at all, too dark and dull, but could probably tolerate it for 1 night. Turning away passing trade is simply ridiculous. I think, all in all, another very realistic and fair review x

If you thought that was bad, you should have tried the Whitehouse on the front that is 100 times worse. Must be bad it's closed down now. But have to agree with you I probably would not stay at the grand either.
Check in is 3pm normally so not sure why they told you 4pm and regarding room if you booked standard signal room that’s what you would be given

The Elsinore is really bad there, frozen rooms in winter, no double glazing, seagulls feet coming through holes in attex loft rooms no joke , try the Iris that was a really good budget hotel for the money
By the size of that room the bog must be a bucket in the corner.
A 4 o’Clock check in is ridiculous as is a 10 o’clock check out. This is them being awkward. I always think it’s a pity about the state of this hotel. It has a great position and is a lovely looking building. Like many Britannia hotels however it is totally underfunded and in need of repair. In its present state I would be uncomfortable about letting my dog stay there.
As soon as i see the word Brittannia in a hotels name in a listing i zoom right past as i know its going to be crap
Stayed with the wife 3 times landudno all nice hotels one airbb good saw the place manytimes grand hotel in its day not anymore.
Britannia in the years gone by use to have pride in their hotels and had staff who wouldn't tolerate these kind of things. However the chain is starting to fall apart and it will cost a fortune to bring the place back up to scratch so it's like they've decided to give up as they are still making money, but want to now put a plaster over cracks, not fix it properly.
