The first few weeks of quarantine were GORGEOUS. I had never seen LA air so clean. In fact for a few days it recorded the cleanest air of any city in the WORLD which came as a major shock to everyone in the city.

Sorry, Route 66 does not go through downtown LA . Tho it went past my shop on Foothill Blvd. in Pasadena and downtown Colorado Blvd. on its way too Santa Monica pier the end of the road.

@@JPER-cv2lq if you look closely at the traffic light at 6:57 you can even see a sign commemorating the very fact i stated. the key word here is "Original". Good ole Route 66 became a few miles longer a few years later when it's end/start was moved to the corner of Lincoln and Olympic blvds. The sign at the Santa Monica pier is not official but its great for selfies

    Thanks for this.
I was doing a similar cruise through DTLA with a friend driving us last week. Same eerie desertion of what would be a city teeming and crowded with all manner of humanity.
    I'm an LA native.
And I never thought I'd see something like this. I know this city all too well. I'm disgusted with local gov't, but I do like being a big city born and raised Angeleno.
Yesterday, the same friend and I drove from our area of N. Hollywood, went west...and took the beach roads from Santa Monica, all the way down to Palos Verdes Peninsula. Through LB, over the VT bridge...and through San Pedro.
There was a park in Pt. Fermin, with more people than you'd expect. But not too surprising in the more economically stressed parts of LA. It's seeing no kids in school, no one at work...at 2:30 in the afternoon on a Wednesday, that makes you think it's Sunday.
Very disorientating, not having work or school...or casual visits as an option.

I applause all Los Angelino’s because down town LA looks more deserted than what my small town village on the east coast off Scotland does during lockdown. Absolutely ashamed....
On a lighter note just caught this video, another great instalment thoroughly enjoyed. Stay safe and keep up the great work.

Even though california is passing through a lot of social and economic issues with all the homelesses ans stuff, but it stills a very pretty place. I get amazed on how californian cities are pretty and well made. The composition of the city is very iconic and pretty. It feels like a movie everywere you go.

So glad I found this video. I havent been to Downtown LA in 6 months. I usually like to follow all the new construction buildings by walking all over Downtown LA in zig zag from Staples Center to Chinatown. So many different streets to walk as all offer something different to look at. Nice to see Grand towers across the Disney Concert Hall so high already. Sadly the Oceanwide project across the Staples Center is mostly the same from 2 years ago. So sad about that. But another 2 tower is being built across the Target/Zara shopping mall. I was hoping you drove near Union Station and into the Arts District and over the bridges of the Los Angeles River. then you would have covered almost every neighborhood/district in Downtown LA minus the wholesale districts.
