0:35 What part of the river were you at? Sorry I really don't know the river that much yet and thanks for the video on the pattern you were using. I must have tied a hundred of those things.
Thanks, I use the head mount (can be a little shaky) the chesty (sometimes rod and arms block view but more steady) small and large tripods and I made a couple of pole mounts. Get as many view as you can. The filming is the fun part the editing is the work part. Have fun and good luck!
I plan on going sometime later this spring. I have never been before and I live in Albany so its only like 3 hours. What weight rod did you use and what flies. Also what spots on the river would you recommend.
I wish I only lived 3 hours away from the river. I have to be honest with you I have never been up in the spring for steelhead. I go up the first week of October for salmon and I usually catch some trout while I'm fishing. What I can tell you is that the steelhead have been in the river all winter and you should fish them like you would any other trout. I use egg patterns in the fall and a 10 weight rod and 10lb tippet. But keep in mind I am targeting salmon and using a fly that trout will eat too. If I was just steelhead fishing I would use both a lighter rod and a lighter tippet. Most likely I would dead drift nymph patterns like pheasant tails, and zug bugs. I would also probably try some egg pattern and some buggers too. hope that helps a little. You might try calling some of the tackle shops up there to find out if the fish will still be in the river when you are going up. I know they spawn in the spring and head back to the lake. Good luck!
It is crowded and it is fun! If you have never been I would recommend hiring a guide your first time. It will cut the learning cure dramatically. Good luck and Good fishing!
is this the ball park hole? I was up there last year and got 2 nice kings, Im hooked for life! I'm buying a fly rod before i go up. how to i keep weight on my line while fly fishing? do i use a weighted line or do i just use split shot? thanks for your help guys in advance, good luck maybe run into you when im up there
fishunter3 yeah cant wait to get up there and get back on the river, they finally dropped the water from 750 to 350 monday. more fish should be coming up in the next couple days, this weekend there is fish in the river no doubt!
+ruvim niz I usually go up the first week of October, but the last 2 years we didn't hit it good and the fishing was very tough. Every year is different. Best thing to do is keep an eye on the reports and go when a big push of fish are moving. Good luck and good fishing!
oh ok but you can take them home? what is the measurements to take the fish home? do you need a license to fish there? I want to take my 10 year old son….
ARIAM C Yes you can keep 3 salmon a day, and yes you need a license. The river can be dangerous, so make sure you get corkers for your boots snd be careful. Good luck and good fishing!
+tec319 My favorite spot on the river was at the wall hole in Duglaston but the price got to high for me. I haven't fished there in years and this wasn't filmed there. I do miss seeing some of the guys that I would see year after year there. But I have made new friends and you can see them in my newer salmon fishing video. Thanks for the comment. Good luck and good fishing! FISH ON!!!!!!

Dylan Klemas I use a long leader and put the split shot above my tippet knot. See you in a few weeks.

+Sifi Wifi That sounds perfect for steelhead. Good luck!
What type of salmon are those
The largest are king salmon(Chinook), some are coho salmon, one brown trout and some steelhead trout.
