Out of everything I expected people to comment about the thing I didn't expect was the hundred "FORCES 2D GAME HAHA" comments. We get it. It was a majority 2D.
Well I think people are getting tired of folks blaming the 3D games and acting like we've being starved of 2D, when we haven't had a predominately 3D since Unleashed in 2008. @@lerona.martyr3811, but that's not the games, just cause they had some questionable level design. Sonic 3 & Knuckles was amazing, but still had some questionable level design that wasnt that good. That doesnt mean Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic CD, and Sonic 3&Knuckles are bad. Another Example is Sonic '06, the game was absolute garbage, but that doesn't mean all adventure games are bad, since Sonic '06 uses the adventure formula. People need to lighten up, cause Dimps has made some amazing work that people even think are the best kn the franchise, but just cause they had some bumps in the road doesn't mean there a lost cause.
For the QOTD: Game Gear era: Bridge Zone, Gimmick Mountain, Aqua Planet, Sunset Park Advance era: Egg Rocket, Music Plant, Twinkle Snow Rush Era: Water Palace, Haunted Ship, Tropical Resort I'm also gonna talk about rival fights for each era because why not: Game Gear: Fang/Nack Advance: Gemerl Rush: Blaze
Adding in, I think this could be done for bosses: GG era: Sonic 1 Final Boss Advance era: Ultimate Gemerl (SA3) (maybe for this one you could run along the rainbow paths from Starlight Carnival) Rush era: Nega Wisp Armor (Colors)
not even lying if emerl was a boss i'd feel so bad. not only due to the fact that its emerl, but...how would the modern gang react? i doubt the modern gang would just not remember. i mean, look at the post adventure era boss scene in generations 3ds.
Holy mother of Chaos on a stick, eaten by a lobster who's the father of three lobster children that are set to be sacrificed to the underwater version of Cuthulu named Calamulu is tHAT A HOMING SHO-
I don’t exactly have a dream list of stages for a “Handheld Generations”, but I wanted to say that it’s a crime that Music Plant has yet to return in any form.
Just that last phase... I would always have 100 rings but still the boss just kept stalling. It was SO HARD. Then I got on a plane and beat it first try (I have no idea how, but whenever I get on a plane, I suddenly beat every game handed to me)
To this day I'm still praising Dimps because of Sonic Rush, that game is SO good! Always wondered if Sonic Generations 3DS was worth a try, but it seems like a good time! If I ever spot it, I'll be sure to pick it up!
Garrulous: “welcome to sonic rush 4! That’s right I said it, what you gonna do about it?” Eggman: I can use my seventy alternative accounts again to give this video 70 dislikes
I still have to find a Nintendo 3DS with a capture card so I can finally play this game. As for your QOTD, my answer is Chaos Angel Zone, but it should be renamed to, "Haha Garrulous Zone".
I did love the touch of having Past Tails' & Robotnik's speech bubbles as yellow while Modern Sonic's, Tails', & Eggman's are blue in an attempt to differentiate the 2 counterparts
Even if this is the last one, it's no big deal. We already get a whole lot of 2D in the 3D titles to the point where there's more 2D than 3D. I didn't say that was a good thing.
*QOTD:* Thought up a little overhaul of the zones we know, plus threw in some extra ones~ _- CLASSIC ERA -_ Spring Yard Zone Oil Ocean Zone Marble Garden Zone *Rusty Ruin Zone* _- DREAMCAST ERA -_ Hot Shelter Pumpkin Hill Grand Metropolis *Route 99* _- MODERN ERA-_ Aquatic Base *Machine Labyrinth* Savannah Citadel Sweet Mountain
Dude, thank you so much for talking about this game I played this, and ALL the other "Rush styled" games as a kid (as well as Lost World 3DS and if you wanna race against me in a speedrun of that game, I will absolutely crush you lol), and I just got hit with a massive wave of nostalgia, especially for this one! I never thought anyone would talk about these games, and how fun they all are, but thank you severely for being the first (or at least, the first I've seen anyway) =)
Honestly, For A Dream Generations, I Would Have The Entire 3DS Game Plus More Zones Such As (In No Particular Order): Chemical Plant Windy Valley The Land Of Darkness (OVA) Every Zone From Advance 1 And 2 South Island (Also From The OVA)
Handheld Gens: 8 bit era: Bridge Zone Crystal Egg Sunset Park Fang Rival Last Utopia/Chaotic Space boss (Pocket Adventure) GBA: Egg Rocket/The space level who's name I forgot Ice Paradise Chaos Angel Emerl Rival Ultimate Gemerl Boss DS: Water Palace Ghost Ship Tropical Resort or Asteroid Coaster Blaze Rival Egg Wizard boss (good alternative to Egg Dragoon due to the whole fighting at the planet's core gimmick) Give each rival/boss a phase 1 and 2 like the dimps games have
This and 06 were the only ever Sonic games I had when I was 6, and they continued to be the only Sonic games I’d ever own until last year. For that, this game will always hold a special place in my heart.
AaronBoi 17 The Yoshi Main Also a fun fact: Radical Highway Classic is not only good, but actually keeps true to the original -we don't speak of the Modern version-
While watching I said to myself "I played the console one and there is no way a handheld port could be better". After watching the video I bought Sonic Generations 3ds and started playing it. I already love it (except for radical highway).
It’s definitely not better than the console version but it is fun. You can tell it was a bit of a rush job because they didn’t make original level designs for the genesis classic stages, and everything after them is just flat, but I still think it’s enjoyable enough.
Update: Just beat the game. Very fun. Didn't like Radical highway or the bottomless pit sections. The final boss was satisfying, but I didn't like his attack where he shoots the clocks at you. 7.8/10 too much water. I would've edited my first comment instead of making it a reply, but I didn't want to lose my pin.
Dr. Stone I'm honestly surprised that Garrolous didn't mention how EASY Modern's stage was. Seriously, I beat that stage on my second try, when I sucked at the other levels. First one I got an S Rank on. Not only that but the music for said stage sucks, sounds like the GEMS soundfont with extra diarrhea and sounds NOTHING like the original song. I saw a comment that said that it was based on the 2P theme from Shadow. Still didn't hear it.
I actually enjoyed 3DS Sonic Generations, it's unique stages which WEREN'T reused from the console version and the physics which reminds me of sonic rush sooo much.
For the first 3 zones it would be: green hill zone from sonic 1 8-bit, cause all the promotional material had green hill zone, so you could tie the two games together that way. Gimmick mountain zone, cause it reminds me of chemical plant for no reason other than it's a good stage and it's in the second game. Sleeping egg zone, cause it's the most memorable stage in the game for me, aside from like mecha green hill zone(but that's just another green hill). Sunset park purely cause of the act 3 music remix, and it's on a train at the end, i like trains in video games. Egg rocket from sonic advance, cause it's the most stand out level in that game(all the levels from sonic advance besides neo green hill are good for generations 3ds tbh). Music plant from sonic advance cause just look at it, it's a music stage, in a sonic game, so that's pretty cool and music- based enemies would be really cool too see. Route 99 cause that one mission in the console version of generations with classic sonic and cream collecting chao reminds me of this stage(and cause it's not green hill zone 2000). Sonic rush is water park, just like the normal version. Sonic rush adventure i haven't played yet. Tropical park from colors ds like the normal generations
Emerald coast has got to be one of my favorite zones in all of sonic, and same with the music. Also, the zone I would've loved to see in handheld generations is flying Battery Zone.
Man, I had this game as a kid, and I loved it! I played it everywhere, thanks for reviewing it. Also, please, whoever is reading this comment, please, look up the Big Arms boss theme. It's the best song in the game.
Here's a list of all the levels I would want to be in Handheld Generations (the ones I know, anyway): Bridge Zone. Egg Rocket. Music Plant. Route 99. Water Palace. Blizzard Peaks. And Starlight Carnival.
Jungle Zone, Underground Zone, Mecha Green Hill, Sunset Park, Silver Castle, Aquatic Relix, Secret Base, Music Plant, Route 99, Water Palace, Plant Kingdom, Tropical Resort
2 years late but here’s my handheld level dream roster. Three zones for each era (Game Gear, GBA and DS) Jungle Zone - Sonic 1 Gimmick Mountain - Sonic 2 Sunset Park - Sonic Triple Trouble Ice Mountain - Advance Music Plant - Advance 2 Route 99 - Advance 3 Water Palace - Rush Pirate’s Island - Rush Adventure Asteroid Coaster - Colors Special stages would be from Sonic Advance 2 and would be a good opportunity to show off the handheld’s 3D gimmicks Rival races: Fang - Triple Trouble Gemerl - Advance 3 Blaze - Rush Boss fights: Laser Walker - Sonic Chaos Mecha Knuckles - Advance Johnny and Captain Whisker - Rush Adventure
I feel the only Zone I'd have sold my soul to see in this would have been Techno Base from Advance 2, i'm a sucker for the cyberspace aesthetic and Sega needs to do more levels like that
My dream stage list! Mostly for the remixes honestly. Bridge Zone - Sonic 1 Game Gear Sky High Zone - Sonic 2 Game Gear Sunset Park Zone - Sonic Triple Trouble Egg Rocket - Sonic Advance Hot Crater - Sonic Advance 2 Sunset Hill - Sonic Advance 3 Dead Line Zone - Sonic Rush Machine Labyrinth - Sonic Rush Adventure Aquarium Park - Sonic Colors
This is what I wanted Sonic Handheld Generations: GAME GEAR ERA: -Level: Green Hill. (Sonic 1 Game Gear) -Level: Gimmick Mountain. (Sonic 2 GG) -Level: Meta Junglira. (Sonic Triple Trouble) -Rival: Silver Sonic in Gimmick Mountain Zone. (Sonic 2 Game Gear) -Boss: Elec Chamber/Final Boss in Sky Base Zone. (Sonic 1 Game Gear) ADVANCE ERA: -Level: Casino Paradise. (Sonic Advance 1) -Level: Hot Crater. (Sonic Advance 2) -Level: Route 99. (Sonic Advance 3) -Rival: Gemrl in Route 99 Zone. (Sonic Advance 3) -Boss: Super Eggrobo Z in XX Zone. (Sonic Advance 2) RUSH ERA: -Level: Water Palace. (Sonic Rush) -Level: Haunted Ship. (Sonic Rush Adventure) -Level: Tropical Resort. (Sonic Colors DS) -Rival: Captain Whisker in Water Palace Zone. (Sonic Rush Adventure) -Boss: Captain Jelly in Sweet Mountain Zone. (Sonic Colors DS) FINAL BOSS: -Boss: Time Eater. (Sonic Generations)
QOTD: Star Light Aquatic Ruins Sandopolis Sky Deck Rail Canyon/Bullet Station Lava Shelter Night Carnival Haunted Ship Asteroid Coaster Boss: Metal Sonic Kai (KC) Gamma or Beta (SA) Deep Core (SRA)
My dream roster of zones would be Green hill (STH 1) Chemical Plant (STH 2) Studiopolis (S M) Boss: Metal Sonic & The Deadly Six (All Dreamcast Levels) Speed Highway White Jungle Radical Highway Boss: Egg Viper & Shadow (Dreamcast Classic) Sky Chase/Wing Fortress (STH 2) City Escape (SA2) Radical Train (S 06) Boss: Egg Golom (SA2) & Silver (S 06) Final Level: Eggman Empire Fortress (Sonic Forces) Final Boss: Time Eater mixed with Egg Dragoon
My Dream list for a "Handheld Generations": Game gear era: 1.Jungle zone. 2.Underground zone. 3.Gigalopolis/Robotnik Winter zone. Rival battle:Metal Sonic. Boss:the bird robot from Sky High zone but way harder. GBA era: 1.Secret Base zone. 2.Music Plant/Hot Crater zone. 3.Route 99(with good level design) Rival battle:Gemerl or Shadow. Boss:last Boss from Sonic Advance 3(not the super sonic fight) The DS era: Huge Crisis. Haunted Ship. Aquarium Park. Rival battle:Blaze Boss:the regular final boss of Sonic Rush.
my generations handheld would be green hill - sonic 1 green hills - sonic 2 mecha green hill - sonic chaos green hill - sonic blast neo green hill - sonic advance sunset hill - sonic advance 3
Sonic 1:bridge zone sonic 2: high sky sonic chaos:mecha green hill sonic advance:egg rocket sonic advance 2:music plant sonic advance 3:toy kingdom sonic rush:water palace sonic rush adventure:machine labyrinth sonic colors:tropical resort
here is my roster (Do not hate me for this. You will.) Bosses included. (This took me an hour to type, so please read it.) Green Hill Sky Sanctuary Stardust Speedway Rival 1: Metal. This will be a Classic Boss. Metal will roll at you, shoot across the field, swipe at you, guard with a Motobug Shell, shoot a laser to the sky to drop Poison Water (This is Chemical Plant zone, btw.) and fly into the background to send a wave of Egg Pawns at you. He takes ten hits to beat and will reward you with the Purple Emerald. Metal Medley: A shifting combination of Bad Future, Final Fortress and Scrap Brain zone. These Medley levels will apply to the Four rival fights in the game. (I'm adding another one) Boss 1: Classic Eggman. It's the final boss of Sonic 1 and 2 combined. Eggman is in the Death Egg Robot, with the columns from STH1 acting as your ground. These will dip on and off screen at times, so be careful. The aim is to attack the bolts on each arm five times each to bring the robot down, so you can crack the head open and win. It's really easy, but this IS a starter boss. Emerald Coast White Jungle Westopolis Rival 2: Shadow. This is a Modern boss, and the fight is a race through Westopolis. No fighting involved, just a solid race for Shadow to test if Sonic can defeat the Time Eater. (No edge. He's back to his old self from 2006. Shadow wants to do this because he knows this being is more powerful than a thousand Sonics.) Shadow will ride his Bike and frequently shoot you with Spears. Sonic can overtake him with boosts, but that won't be enough. Some gaps make for quick reactions and Shadow will boost himself with the Yellow Emerald. Shadow Medley: A combination of Radical Highway, Rail Canyon and Black Comet. (It's coming soon, i promise.) Boss 2: Egg Golem. Classic is at it again. The goal is the same as SA2, but now you need to get in between his hands before a headbutt, dodge it and spin attack his core. Do this six times to win. Also, Buzz Bombers will try to ruin your day. Radical Train (Here's where it gets fun. Commentary about slight memories afterwards.) Sky Babylon Evil Foundry Rival 3: Silver (He also slightly remembers this place, as Crisis City is his home in another timeline.) The fight is the same as the Console version, but he laments on how this place seems familiar, and the IT'S NO USE!' Line after he says this. Forgotten Medley: Crisis City, Sand Oasis and Haunted Ship. All are places from other worlds/timelines. 06 was never erased. The timeline shifted, so there is a world where Iblis dominates, but he's an original being. Mephiles also does not exist, as no one knows of Iblis until he comes and burns the world (He's the parallel version of Dark Gaia, OK?) Boss 3: Iblis. (Human form. Silver does kill it over and over, but no one fought the larva.) This fight is done as Classic, and it behaves like the Egg Dragoon in forces. He hurls rocks your way, spits fire, summons pets and slashes the stage after every two hits. The rocks he throws are blazing hot 9/10 times, but one may not be and you can chuck that sucker back at him. Eight rocks will kill him, and you can leave a safely avoided future. Tropical Resort Egg Generator (Lost World's thing) Mortar Canyon Rival 4: Eggmen. Yes, they are the last rivals. It's a fight like Johnny and Whiskers. Both attack at the same time. Classic is in the Egg Tank, while the other is in the Egg Mech from SA2. The two just throw Melee attacks and slow lasers at you, one can lock on, and the other can jump up platforms. Both can run/drive up platforms after Modern Sonic, but do so very slowly. Four hits each finish them. (Also, you can switch like in the Final Boss) Boss 4: Deadly Six (I am sorry) This is a long fight, as all six hit you with their own attacks. You actually switch between the two sonics like in the Eggmen fight, but not at will. Classic takes out Zazz, Zomom and Zor first, while Zeena and Zik are left with Modern. Zavok has the two switch on will, because they are SUPER! (Wow, supers for a penultimate boss!) You ram into his chest, while he breathes fireballs and throws rocks your way. He also fires missiles at you from behind him, and these are very dangerous to avoid. Six attacks will finish him. The other Zeti just have one attack, plus a jump. Slashing for Zazz, Rolling for Zomom, Petal Tornado for Zor, Snowballs for Zeena and energy waves for Zik. Final Boss: Time Eater. This guy is MUCH harder now. It's split into three phases. First is a level with shadows grabbing you from the ground, insta-death water and a strict time limit. Next is a Battle against Dark Sonic. This guy will behave just like Sonic (DUH!) Boosting into you, homing attack, and Chaos Control. Yes, he can slow down time, warp ahead or behind, throw Chaos Spears, open wormholes for lasers to fire, and sweep kick a tornado. The final phase is like the Console and Handheld version, but the Time Eater Talks here. (He is not an Eggman entity, but one lost to the gap between reality.) Here are the quotes. These would be distorted and unrecognizable, but careful editing would get you these. Where am I? This void...Why? (Start of battle) Hedgehog. I am back. (After his first attack) That blow. You haven't changed one bit. (After one of nine blows is dealt) I watched you for so long, Hedgehog of another time! (After one and a half minutes have elapsed) I have analysed your every weakness. Strength. Relationships. Times out of your own. (2/9 hits) I devoured time. I became god. I killed you. Then you returned and crushed my power. (5 hits) You never met her. The look on her face. I will never cease laughing at such weakness. (6 hits) No more games, hedgehog. I will finish what i started in days erased by time. (7 hits) You're pushing my hand, you blue rat. Give up, Sonic. I am stronger than you. (8 hits) Enough. This world is barely worth devouring. I will come back someday, Sonic. Mark my words, that will be the day you cease to set foot upon Green Hills. (Defeat)
It may be 2D, but I believe that Tropical Resort act 2 kind resembled the Wii version more. Yeah, it plays like Rush but the assets are just the Wii version to me. All the pullies on the walls, grind rails everywhere and most of all the Cyan wisp being in TR like the Wii version
1:07 It’s actually the only version of Unleashed I’ve played and while I want to play the HD version, the Wii version is pretty good in my opinion. (Also, good video as always, and Generations is on my list of Sonic games I really want to try one day.)
"I expect nothing but angry comments, but I can take it." Me: I haven't played wii unleashed, but if you don't grind for medals in that version then I agree.
QOTD: Green Hill Oil Ocean Icecap Lava Reef Bridge Gimmick Mountain Emerald Coast City Escape Casino Park White Acropolis Water Palace Pirates Island ...and Angel Island (Advance)
Don't know if its too late, but here is my take at Handheld Generations Green Hill (Sonic 1) Palmtree Panic (Sonic CD) Chemical Plant (Sonic 2) Angel Island (Sonic 3) Flying Battery (Sonic and Chuckles..I mean Knuckles) Emerald Coast (Sonic Adventure) Pumpkin Hill (Sonic Adventure 2) Water Palace (Sonic Rush) Sky Babylon (Sonic Rush Adventure) Kingdom Valley (Sonic 06) Jungle Joyride (Sonic Unleashed) Power Plant (Sonic Heroes) Aquarium Park (Sonic Colors) Frozen Factory (Sonic Lost World) Sand Hill, wait no, Beach Hill, OH WAIT, its Neo Green Hill (Sonic Advance 1) Music Plant (Sonic Advance 2) Twinkle Snow (Sonic Advance 3) Glyphic Canyon (Shadow the Hedgehog) This list is quite long, but these are my personal favorite stages from all the games.
QOTD: Every Zone except Huge Crisis, Altitude Limit, and Dead Line from Rush, Plant Kingdom and Sky Babylon from Rush Adventure, Tropical Resort and Planet Wisp from Colors
My Handheld Generations wishes be like: Zones: Green Hills [From S2 GG], Jungle Bridge [A combination of Jungle Zone and Bridge Zone from S1 GG], Scrap Brain, Scrambled Egg, Mecha Turquoise Hill [because colour green is already taken], Aqua Planet, Red Volcano, Meta Junglira, Atomic Destroyer, Sky Base[from S1 GG], Marble Curcuit [Marble Zone curcuit from Sonic Drift] Mean Bean Machine [but bigger] Toxic Caves, Showdown [From SpinBall], Lava Reef, Radical City [from Sonic R] Palmtree Panic, Marine Madness, Emerald Town [Mostly Emerald Beach but whatever], Neo South Island, Death Egg MK.II.[not in this order] Bosses: Classic - Egg Walker [from Sonic Chaos but better and bigger],Mecha Sonic; phase 1-normal phase 2-chase to M.E. like in Triple Trouble phase 3-Super. Modern - Zavok; phase 1-normal phase 2-beeg but with 2 bees from Forces, Metal Overlord, Both - Time Eater. Rivals - Fang the sniper/Neck the weasel, Shadow, Silver.
God, what I wouldn't give for a Generations 2! Just imagine every gameplay style ever coming together in one epic tribute to the franchise... imagine playing through Chun-nan, but with Heroes gameplay, or Music Plant as the Werehog, or searching for Master Emerald shards in Tropical Resort as Knuckles, before boosting your way through Hang Castle alongside Original the Character... it would RULE!
My dream Handheld Generations levels would be: Green Hill Zone (1st level, both acts unchanged from Sonic Generations 3DS version) Ice Cap Zone ( 2nd level, Sonic 3 version) Jungle Zone (3rd level, Sonic 1 Master System version) Sunset Park Zone (4th level, Sonic Triple Trouble version) Green Grove Zone (5th level, Sonic 3D Blast Sega Saturn version) Emerald Coast (6th Level, unchanged from Sonic Generations 3DS version) Hydrocity Zone (7th level, 1st act unchanged from Sonic Mania’s Hydrocity Zone Act 2) Palmtree Panic (8th level) Labyrinth Zone (9th level, Sonic 1 Genesis Version, now actually fun) Mystic Cave Zone (10th and final level)
What I would really like to see in that Generations for handheld Sonic history idea that you mentioned, is the rival battles! -The first set of stages would be based on the Game Gear era, so a unique rival would be Knack/Fang! -Second set would be GBA, so it could be Emerl. -Third set would be DS so it could be Blaze. Now I really wish they went with this idea instead
Here is my Handheld Generations dream list of stages: - Green Hill (S1) - Gigalopolis (Chaos) - Sunset Park (TT) Rival: Silver Sonic (S2) Boss: Last Utopia Boss (Pocket Adventure) - Casino Paradise (Advance) - Music Plant (Advance 2) - Route 99 (Advance 3) Rival: G-merl (Advance 3) Boss: Ifrit (Rivals 2, only for the sake of the story) - Water Palace (Rush) - Haunted Ship (Rush Adventure) - Tropical Resort (Colors) Rival: Blaze (Rush) Boss: Point W Boss (Rush)
For my sonic generations handheld my zones would be:For Sonic 1 Green Hill,Star Light and Scrap Brain. For Sonic 2 Hill Top, Metropolis and Wing Fortress. For Sonic CD Palmtree panic, Wacky Workbench and Metallic Madness. For Sonic 3 Angel Island Ice cap and Launch Base. For Sonic & Knuckles Sandopolis,Lava Reef and Hidden Palace. For Sonic adventure Twinkle Park, Casinopoilis and Sky Chase. For sonic adventure 2 Metal Harbor and Pumpkin Hill. For Sonic Forces Lost Valley,Mystic Jungle and Arsenal Pyramid and For Sonic Superstars Speed Jungle,Lagoon City and Golden Capital.Playing as Classic will give you 3 acts of the levels so when you are playing as classic you will have 3 acts in every zone and for modern its the same thing accept instead of 3 acts its 2 acts.Special Stages the sonic 2 special stage,The Sonic Cd special stage and blue spheres. There will be mini games to play to get red star rings and some customisation outfits from previous sonic games. There will be a customisation table that you can activate anytime even in cutscenes and after beating the you will be granted to play as Darkspine, Excalibur Sonic and the wisp forms including super. But also beating the game you will be awarded A open world world which is every stage you have beaten. Also will be awarded every sonic music in the game. There will be a 6 player race featuring Classic Sonic, Classic Tails,Classic Eggman, Modern Sonic,Modern Tails and Modern Eggman.Bosses:Rival battle Classic Knuckles boss that Blue flying rocket that you beat as hyper Sonic in doomsday zone.sorry I don't know what it's called.Rival battle Chaos 0 boss the final hazard.Rival battle Infinite boss idk I will think about it.
Sonic dream team is my final sonic game in this crazy long sonic generations the zones from Sonic Dream team will be scrambled shores, Nightmare maze and ego city and the boss is nightmare eggman
Sonic 1: Bridge (Iconic to Sonic 1 Portable) Sonic 2: Sky High (To cause some PTSD) Sonic Chaos: Gigapolis (Because the only other stage more iconic is Mecha Green Hill, and I can't bring myself to add another Green Hill) Sonic Triple Trouble: Robotnik Winter (People wanted Ice Cap, and this is pretty close. Complete with Snowboarding intro.) Sonic Blast: Red Volcano (Just because of SRB2's awesome level of the same name.) Rival 1: Knuckles (Because he deserves a Rival spot more than Fang.) Boss 1: Laser Walker (Sonic Chaos, just to remind people that SA2's Egg Walker is from a Classic game.) Sonic Pocket: Cosmic Casino (They're all recycled Sonic 2 stages anyway, might as well go with the one they used) Sonic Advance: Egg Rocket (Most unqiue Zone in the game) Sonic Advance 2: Music Plant (Most unique) Sonic Battle: Battle Highway (To fill out the five games per generation each else has. Might as well go with the one closest to Radical Highway) Sonic Advance 3: Cyber Track (Most unique) Rival 2: Gemerl Boss 2: Last Utopia Boss (Pocket Adventure. The only non-Eggman boss I can think of is Nonaggression, but Gemerl's already the Rival. It's a tough spot, but whatever, an Eggrobo could pilot it just fine.) Sonic Rush: Water Palace (Already in. Probably the best choice) Sonic Rivals: Meteor Base (It's a cool stage) Sonic Rush Adventure: Sky Babylon (Iconic) Sonic Rivals 2: Mystic Haunt (We're missing this trope from both versions of the game) Sonic Colors: Tropical Resort (Already used) Rival 3: Blaze (Duh) Boss 3: Egg King (Rush. Because it fits as a counterpart to Egg Dragoon, as opposed to Egg Emperor.)
QOTD: Green Hill Zone Chemical plant zone Angel Island Zone (Knuckles Mini Boss Fight As Classic Sonic) Flying Battery Zone Eggman Ball Emerald Coast (Last stage of SA1) City Escape (Race with Shadow Mini Bossfight As Modern Sonic) Radical Highway King Boom Boom Green Hill,Sand Hill Studiopolis Press Garden (Heavy Shinobi Mini Boss as Classic Sonic) Null space Spider Eggman (Final sonic Mania Boss) Chemical plant Zone (But Full of Chemicals and Little platforms) Destroyed City Escape Studiopolis Act 2 *The other one had both go through diffrent variations of act 1* (Heavy Gunner Mini Boss Fight As Modern Sonic) Null Space zone *Like the Final boss Version 2 But no boss* Time Eater
My Dream list for a "Handheld Generations": Game gear era: 1.Jungle zone. 2.Underground zone. 3.Gigalopolis/Robotnik Winter zone. Rival battle:Metal Sonic. Boss:the bird robot from Sky High zone but way harder. GBA era: 1.Secret Base zone. 2.Music Plant/Hot Crater zone. 3.Route 99(with good level design) Rival battle:Gemerl or Shadow. Boss:last Boss from Sonic Advance 3(not the super sonic fight) The DS era: Huge Crisis. Haunted Ship. Aquarium Park. Rival battle:Blaze Boss:the regular final boss of Sonic Rush.
-Emerald HIll -Star Light -Scrap Brain Boss: The D.E. Robot. -Studiopolis -Ice Cap (Adventure) -Metallic Madness Boss: Mecha Sonic -Death Egg (Forces) -Egg Fleet -Speed Highway Boss: Sonic 1 Final Boss Final Boss: The Titanic Monarch.
My choices for “Handheld Generations” 1. Green Hill (GBA) 2. Bridge Zone 3. Aqua Plant 4. Metal Sonic Race (Atomic Destroyer) 5. Sonic 1 game gear Final boss 6. Casino Paradise 7. Music Plant 8. Shadow race (Sonic Battle themed) 9. G-Emerl boss fight (any of his fights) 10. Water Palace 11. Pirates’ Island 12. Tropical Resort 12. Silver race (Sweet Mountain) 13: Nega Wisp Armor 14: Time Eater This might be more than the 3DS could handle, but this is purely hypothetical. Plus, worse comes to worse, they could downgrade to using Sprites instead of 3D models to save space
I always thought, Generations 3D should have been what they promised: a celebration of Sonic's handheld history. Lile having levels from the Game Gear games, the Advance series and more from the Rush games. Like that, it could have even had distinct "eras", like the console version, with the GG, GBA and DS eras.
- Classic Era Bridge Mecha Green Hill Sunset Park Rival Battle: Silver Sonic Boss Battle: Sonic 1 SMS Final Boss - Adventure Era Secret Base Music Plant Chaos Angel Rival Battle: Shadow Boss Battle: Ultimate G-Merl - Modern Era Water Palace Blizzard Peaks Tropical Resort Rival Battle: Blaze Boss Battle: Egg Wizard
The start of Emerald Coast Act 1 references the level design of Neo Green Hill Act 1 from Sonic Advance. Also my dream stages: Game Gear Era Green Hill (Sonic 1) Gigapolis (Chaos) Gigapolis Boss (Chaos) Sunset Park (Triple Trouble) Metal Sonic (Triple Trouble) Advance Era Ice Mountain (Advance) Music Plant (Advance 2) Egg Totem (Advance 2) Emerl (Battle) Cyber Track (Advance 3) Rush Era Water Palace (Rush) Blaze (Rush) Egg King (Rush) Haunted Ship (Rush Adventure) Tropical Resort (Colors DS)
Out of everything I expected people to comment about the thing I didn't expect was the hundred "FORCES 2D GAME HAHA" comments.

Yeah, what's up with that? Dimps are a talented studio.
The only grudge I hold against Dimps would be bottomless pits, and that's more of a level design quirk than anything relating to the games' quality.
Most of their games are great, but Sonic 4. We must never forget that sin.
I just hate some of the level designs and special stages
@@lerona.martyr3811, but that's not the games, just cause they had some questionable level design. Sonic 3 & Knuckles was amazing, but still had some questionable level design that wasnt that good. I'm also gonna talk about rival fights for each era because why not:
Game Gear: Fang/Nack
Advance: Gemerl
Rush: Blaze
Gemerl doesn't appear in Sonic Battle. Though Emerl does. [Gemerl is in SA3]
Don't know why I thought Gemerl was in Battle lol
Adding in, I think this could be done for bosses:
GG era: Sonic 1 Final Boss
Advance era: Ultimate Gemerl (SA3) (maybe for this one you could run along the rainbow paths from Starlight Carnival)
Rush era: Nega Wisp Armor (Colors)
but...hear me out here: heart wrenching emerl boss
not even lying if emerl was a boss i'd feel so bad. not only due to the fact that its emerl, but...how would the modern gang react? i doubt the modern gang would just not remember. i mean, look at the post adventure era boss scene in generations 3ds.
The only two things you didn't mention that I'd like in a handheld generations would be Haunted Ship and Terminal Velocity
I would too, But "Haunted Ship" Is the MOST BASIC name SEGA could come up with?
Bro terminal velocity is in my opinion the best sonic colors stage o have played
Tho I’m talking the console version the dsi version was a bit underwhelming but it still had good music
@@ajshel1789 yeah, true. i think the DS version had a better track tho

I got this as my second 3ds game and I took forever to beat the final boss. This game will always have a soft spot in my heart
Greninjasn yeah the final boss was sooo hard
Just that last phase... I would always have 100 rings but still the boss just kept stalling. It was SO HARD. Then I got on a plane and beat it first try (I have no idea how, but whenever I get on a plane, I suddenly beat every game handed to me)
To this day I'm still praising Dimps because of Sonic Rush, that game is SO good!
Always wondered if Sonic Generations 3DS was worth a try, but it seems like a good time! If I ever spot it, I'll be sure to pick it up!

Great review! glad people are covering this underrated game.
Thanks man! It's a very good game, i'm glad to see people still remember it.
That 2D isn't as good unfortunately

Dude, thank you so much for talking about this game
I played this, and ALL the other "Rush styled" games as a kid (as well as Lost World 3DS and if you wanna race against me in a speedrun of that game, I will absolutely crush you lol), and I just got hit with a massive wave of nostalgia, especially for this one!
I never thought anyone would talk about these games, and how fun they all are, but thank you severely for being the first (or at least, the first I've seen anyway)
=)
Not gonna lie, that intro kinda got a kick out of me.
The greatest idea generations for portable
6:40 Ah, yes. This is pure nostalgia.
Honestly, For A Dream Generations, I Would Have The Entire 3DS Game Plus More Zones
Such As (In No Particular Order):
Chemical Plant
Windy Valley
The Land Of Darkness (OVA)
Every Zone From Advance 1 And 2
South Island (Also From The OVA)
Handheld Gens:

Crystal Egg
Sunset Park

Last Utopia/Chaotic Space boss (Pocket Adventure)
GBA:
Egg Rocket/The space level who's name I forgot
Ice Paradise

Ultimate Gemerl Boss

Water Palace
Ghost Ship
Tropical Resort or Asteroid Coaster
Blaze Rival
Egg Wizard boss (good alternative to Egg Dragoon due to the whole fighting at the planet's core gimmick)
Give each rival/boss a phase 1 and 2 like the dimps games have
This and 06 were the only ever Sonic games I had when I was 6, and they continued to be the only Sonic games I’d ever own until last year. For that, this game will always hold a special place in my heart.
Fun Fact: The Water Palace Modern Remix is godly amounts of good
AaronBoi 17 The Yoshi Main
Also a fun fact: Radical Highway Classic is not only good, but actually keeps true to the original
-we don't speak of the Modern version-
QOTD: Plant Kingdom, Pirates Island, Music Plant, Egg Rocket, Twinkle Snow, and Toy Kingdom
Dr. Stone
I'm honestly surprised that Garrolous didn't mention how EASY Modern's stage was.
@@huntercrunch94 *Rush* Job
This version is the version i loved playing when i was a kid.
I love how at the beggining, the green screen program caught the xbox case and tought it was part of the background
4:02 Why are the 3DS models more expressive than the console games? Sonic actually moves his eyebrows in the cutscenes.
Ikr? Go figure.
We still have 2D boost games, they're the main console releases.
Haha funni 2D boost joke go brrrrr
Here's a list of all the levels I would want to be in Handheld Generations (the ones I know, anyway):
Bridge Zone.
Egg Rocket.
Music Plant.
Route 99.
Water Palace.
Blizzard Peaks.
And Starlight Carnival.
Jungle Zone, Underground Zone, Mecha Green Hill, Sunset Park, Silver Castle, Aquatic Relix, Secret Base, Music Plant, Route 99, Water Palace, Plant Kingdom, Tropical Resort
imagine having fang, gemerl, and blaze instead for the rival races for the handheld history that would have been sick.
"That looks like a homing shot"
"Be careful Sonic!"
2 years late but here’s my handheld level dream roster. Three zones for each era (Game Gear, GBA and DS)
Jungle Zone - Sonic 1
Gimmick Mountain - Sonic 2
Sunset Park - Sonic Triple Trouble
Ice Mountain - Advance
Music Plant - Advance 2
Route 99 - Advance 3
Water Palace - Rush
Pirate’s Island - Rush Adventure
Asteroid Coaster - Colors
Special stages would be from Sonic Advance 2 and would be a good opportunity to show off the handheld’s 3D gimmicks
Rival races:
Fang - Triple Trouble
Gemerl - Advance 3
Blaze - Rush
Boss fights:
Laser Walker - Sonic Chaos
Mecha Knuckles - Advance
Johnny and Captain Whisker - Rush Adventure
I feel the only Zone I'd have sold my soul to see in this would have been Techno Base from Advance 2, i'm a sucker for the cyberspace aesthetic and Sega needs to do more levels like that
My dream stage list! Mostly for the remixes honestly.
Bridge Zone - Sonic 1 Game Gear
Sky High Zone - Sonic 2 Game Gear
Sunset Park Zone - Sonic Triple Trouble
Egg Rocket - Sonic Advance
Hot Crater - Sonic Advance 2

Dumps was my childhood of all the sonic advance and rush series
here is my roster (Do not hate me for this. You will.) Bosses included. (This took me an hour to type, so please read it.)
Green Hill
Sky Sanctuary
Stardust Speedway
Rival 1: Metal.
(I'm adding another one)
Boss 1: Classic Eggman.
Emerald Coast
White Jungle
Westopolis
Rival 2: Shadow.
(It's coming soon, i promise.)
Boss 2: Egg Golem.
Classic is at it again. The goal is the same as SA2, but now you need to get in between his hands before a headbutt, dodge it and spin attack his core. Do this six times to win. Also, Buzz Bombers will try to ruin your day.
Radical Train (Here's where it gets fun. Commentary about slight memories afterwards.)
Sky Babylon
Evil Foundry
Rival 3: Silver (He also slightly remembers this place, as Crisis City is his home in another timeline.)
The fight is the same as the Console version, but he laments on how this place seems familiar, and the IT'S NO USE!' Line after he says this.
Forgotten Medley: Crisis City, Sand Oasis and Haunted Ship. All are places from other worlds/timelines. 06 was never erased. The timeline shifted, so there is a world where Iblis dominates, but he's an original being. Mephiles also does not exist, as no one knows of Iblis until he comes and burns the world (He's the parallel version of Dark Gaia, OK?)
Boss 3: Iblis. (Human form. Silver does kill it over and over, but no one fought the larva.)
This fight is done as Classic, and it behaves like the Egg Dragoon in forces. He hurls rocks your way, spits fire, summons pets and slashes the stage after every two hits. The rocks he throws are blazing hot 9/10 times, but one may not be and you can chuck that sucker back at him. Eight rocks will kill him, and you can leave a safely avoided future.
Tropical Resort
Egg Generator (Lost World's thing)
Mortar Canyon
Rival 4: Eggmen.
(Also, you can switch like in the Final Boss)
Boss 4: Deadly Six (I am sorry)
This is a long fight, as all six hit you with their own attacks.
(Start of battle)
Hedgehog. I am back. (After his first attack)
That blow. You haven't changed one bit. (After one of nine blows is dealt)
I watched you for so long, Hedgehog of another time! (After one and a half minutes have elapsed)
I have analysed your every weakness. Strength. Relationships. Times out of your own. (2/9 hits)
I devoured time. I became god. I killed you. Then you returned and crushed my power. (5 hits)
You never met her. The look on her face. I will never cease laughing at such weakness. (6 hits)
No more games, hedgehog. I will finish what i started in days erased by time. (7 hits)
You're pushing my hand, you blue rat. Give up, Sonic. I am stronger than you. (8 hits)
Enough. This world is barely worth devouring. I will come back someday, Sonic. Mark my words, that will be the day you cease to set foot upon Green Hills. (Defeat)
1:10
yes. you expected correctly.
hd version > wii version
It may be 2D, but I believe that Tropical Resort act 2 kind resembled the Wii version more. Yeah, it plays like Rush but the assets are just the Wii version to me. All the pullies on the walls, grind rails everywhere and most of all the Cyan wisp being in TR like the Wii version
1:07 It’s actually the only version of Unleashed I’ve played and while I want to play the HD version, the Wii version is pretty good in my opinion. (Also, good video as always, and Generations is on my list of Sonic games I really want to try one day.)
We live in a world where Sonic Rush is now unofficially a spin-off series and I love it.
I would’ve liked to see Sonic Advance 3: Chaos Angel Zone Act 1. The music in that zone is so good.
"I expect nothing but angry comments, but I can take it."

I didn’t realize that Sonic Generations 3DS was somewhat 2D because i could’ve sworn that the final boss was partially 3D
My dream Handheld Generations levels would be:
Green Hill Zone (1st level, both acts unchanged from Sonic Generations 3DS version)
Ice Cap Zone ( 2nd level, Sonic 3 version)
Jungle Zone (3rd level, Sonic 1 Master System version)
Sunset Park Zone (4th level, Sonic Triple Trouble version)
Green Grove Zone (5th level, Sonic 3D Blast Sega Saturn version)
Emerald Coast (6th Level, unchanged from Sonic Generations 3DS version)
Hydrocity Zone (7th level, 1st act unchanged from Sonic Mania’s Hydrocity Zone Act 2)
Palmtree Panic (8th level)
Labyrinth Zone (9th level, Sonic 1 Genesis Version, now actually fun)
Mystic Cave Zone (10th and final level)
What I would really like to see in that Generations for handheld Sonic history idea that you mentioned, is the rival battles!
-The first set of stages would be based on the Game Gear era, so a unique rival would be Knack/Fang!
-Second set would be GBA, so it could be Emerl.
-Third set would be DS so it could be Blaze.
Now I really wish they went with this idea instead
Here is my Handheld Generations dream list of stages:
- Green Hill (S1)
- Gigalopolis (Chaos)
- Sunset Park (TT)
Rival: Silver Sonic (S2)
Boss: Last Utopia Boss (Pocket Adventure)
- Casino Paradise (Advance)
- Music Plant (Advance 2)
- Route 99 (Advance 3)
Rival: G-merl (Advance 3)

QOTD: Bridge Zone, Sky High Zone, Mecha Green Hill Zone, Tidal Plant Zone, Secret Base Zone, Ice Paradise Zone, Chaos Angel Zone, Water Palace Zone, Coral Cave Zone, Aquarium Park Zone.
I forgot to put in another zone for SA2 it will be prison lane.
Sonic dream team is my final sonic game in this crazy long sonic generations the zones from Sonic Dream team will be scrambled shores, Nightmare maze and ego city and the boss is nightmare eggman
And the final boss is the time eater why wouldn't it be
I know my game is kinda long but it is fun
Actually scrap Sonic Forces,Sonic Superstars and Sonic Dream Team
I'm remember popping off when I got S Ranks in every stage on the 3DS version
Sonic 1: Bridge
(Iconic to Sonic 1 Portable)
Sonic 2: Sky High
(To cause some PTSD)
Sonic Chaos: Gigapolis
(Because the only other stage more iconic is Mecha Green Hill, and I can't bring myself to add another Green Hill)
Sonic Triple Trouble: Robotnik Winter
(People wanted Ice Cap, and this is pretty close. Complete with Snowboarding intro.)
Sonic Blast: Red Volcano
(Just because of SRB2's awesome level of the same name.)
Rival 1: Knuckles
(Because he deserves a Rival spot more than Fang.)
Boss 1: Laser Walker
(Sonic Chaos, just to remind people that SA2's Egg Walker is from a Classic game.)
Sonic Pocket: Cosmic Casino
(They're all recycled Sonic 2 stages anyway, might as well go with the one they used)
Sonic Advance: Egg Rocket
(Most unqiue Zone in the game)
Sonic Advance 2: Music Plant
(Most unique)
Sonic Battle: Battle Highway
(To fill out the five games per generation each else has. Might as well go with the one closest to Radical Highway)
Sonic Advance 3: Cyber Track
(Most unique)
Rival 2: Gemerl
Boss 2: Last Utopia Boss (Pocket Adventure. The only non-Eggman boss I can think of is Nonaggression, but Gemerl's already the Rival. It's a tough spot, but whatever, an Eggrobo could pilot it just fine.)
Sonic Rush: Water Palace
(Already in. Probably the best choice)
Sonic Rivals: Meteor Base
(It's a cool stage)
Sonic Rush Adventure: Sky Babylon
(Iconic)
Sonic Rivals 2: Mystic Haunt
(We're missing this trope from both versions of the game)
Sonic Colors: Tropical Resort
(Already used)
Rival 3: Blaze
(Duh)
Boss 3: Egg King (Rush. Because it fits as a counterpart to Egg Dragoon, as opposed to Egg Emperor.)
I still think that unleashed should have came out on ds, like a rush 3 before rush 3

I always thought, Generations 3D should have been what they promised: a celebration of Sonic's handheld history. Lile having levels from the Game Gear games, the Advance series and more from the Rush games. Like that, it could have even had distinct "eras", like the console version, with the GG, GBA and DS eras.
That's my first video of yours I've actually sat threw and I'm very glad I did!
Edit: I have before it's just been a very long time
The wii/ps2 version of unleashed is alright and I can see why you prefer it over the Xbox 360/ps3 version
Honestly I would love if the Xbox 360 version had the asthetic and level design of the Wii version whilst maintaining the stuff like the 3d hub worlds
3:18 the two sonics faces where priceless
I hope Sega make more Sonic Rush Games
