X8's soundtrack is full of bangers: >Wild Fang >Gravity Antonion >Bamboo Pandamonium >Burn Rooster >Vile's theme >Light Capsule >VS 8Boss >Jakob Elevator >Gateway >The sad music at Hunter HQ >Final Boss (both phases but especially the second, HNNNNNG)
I know musical taste is subjective, but I can't really get into those tracks no matter how many times I try listening to them. It's hard to explain, but something about the melodies just makes them not compelling to listen to. I'm not against that style of music, but there's a reason I love Jakob yet don't really like the music in Inferno or Metal Valley. But it's cool that other people seem to like them!
in my opinion, X5 OST needs only one chage to become perfect: to use Duff McWallen's beta song. The Bubble Crab remix is good and superior to the original, but the beta version is SO good! Also, it may be the only theme that is actually another song. All the others are more crude versions of the final, which makes me think the remix was sort of a last minute idea. The Bubble Crab remix feels like a whale song, it fits with a water level, but the beta fits even more with underwater and it has some sound that seem like a submarine sonar. Which is perfect for that level!
This entire video is underrated. The Megaman X5 and x6 soundtracks stuck with me more than any other, with x5 having tunes that I still randomly hum to myself 20 years later.
You're right, the X3 light capsule theme is bugged. It's played as a sound effect like the previous games do for their capsule themes, but this time the theme wasn't made with that in mind. The results are... Something
I completely agree. Mega Man X5 OST is not only the best in the series but in a Top list for VGM period. I DO think Mega Man X7's should be ranked higher. Definitely the most underrated OST in the entire Mega Man series.
I almost 100% agree with this list. The only differences i have in opinion is id move the psx version of x3 soundtrack to the bottom of the list and id move x7 and x8 soundtracks to around where x4s is
For me, I'd put X8 right at the bottom, then the SNES version of X3, and then X2. Yeah, sadly, X2's soundtrack while not terrible by any means just doesn't sit well with me. I totally would rank the soundtrack of X7 much higher than most.
This was a very nice surprise, i'm always in when talking about MMX is about My ranks would be: X8, Jacob Elevator and Lumine's 2nd form are among the series best, but the rest is just fine for me X7: i don't play it a lot so i don't recall a lot of the music but when i do play it's actually pretty sweet X2: I play this one a lot so the music sticks out a lot for me, really nice i must say X3: Pretty cool music everywhere but what steals the show for me are the japanese intro and outro, One More Time and I'm Believer are MY Jams X: The entire roster is a classic X6: Moving on X5: The one where i prefer the American Intro and Ending, everything is great and X Vs Zero all day everyday X4: Just, every song here gets me so pumped or emotional, also One More Chance and Unbreakable Love are bangers
Before watching the video, I think the worst OST is gonna be X7 and the best OST X6. Edit: I guess that I was wrong. Now have watched the video, I am honestly shocked by some choices, And I would like to say my list. From worst to best:X7, X3(psx), X2, X4, X8, X3(snes), X5, X, X6.
Personally i love X8s ost. But especially the final boss. Because it does what most boss themes never bother to do. It actually tells a story in a way. Lumine Phase 1-Ominous, A mysterious foe wrapped in unease. You feel like you're up against a seriously eerie opponent and it fits well. Phase 2-I don't even need to say much, But it is basically the chips are down, You're absolutely in the fight of your' life and the rush of the track hits so epically that it emphasizes the Lucifer like undertone of Lumine beautifully. And then Phase 3-The track tenses up, Becoming somber in a way. You feel the tension as you have only a short time to finish Lumine before your' imminent death takes you into it's cold grip. Most of the games in the entire MM franchise doesn't try to achieve this. It's usually just the stage and the boss themselves having those themes, not solely the boss itself. Battle Network 4 for example. Save Our Planet being a fantastic final level theme that truly amps you up and makes you feel the weight of the situation. Then Duo.exes theme is galactic in it's beats. And works well to feel like you're fighting something not of this world. Both are good ways to do it. But i will always hold X8 high in my heart as my first X game and just how strong those themes are. Even the less good themes like Noahs are still decent. But hey, Don't believe me? There's a reason so much of X8s tunes are used in X Dive including the sad theme which is incredibly impactful imo.
Your description of Lumine's battle themes reminds me of my first experience with fighting him. I was down to my last retry chip by the time I finally conquered Paradise Lost, and I was about ready to just give up and come back another day. Those last 30 seconds are INSANELY stressful... but honestly I kind of love that. It was a brilliant sendoff for the series (even if that hadn't necessarily been the intent at the time).
It's my favorite game in the series _and_ has my favorite soundtrack, though admittedly more for certain individual songs (Primrose, Jakob Orbital Elevator, the regular Maverick battle theme... a couple others, I won't list them all). Everyone has their own opinion for certain, but I feel like X8 might be the most underappreciated game in the series, and that includes its soundtrack. (Then again, given my track record... no surprise I latched onto it, it wasn't popular LOL) I'll say that I really only started finding the soundtracks in the series memorable after X4, but that might just be because I developed a deeper investment in the latter half of the series overall.
I don't agree with your opinions on X6 as a game, but I agree that X5 probably has the better soundtrack. I am a bit biased since X6's more atmospheric overall but upbeat finale is my preference for game tone and the soundtrack matches that, but X5's music and overall atmosphere are also masterful, even if I think some of the prototype music is better. Great video!
I'd like to know how do you think about X2's X Hunter Boss Fight Theme ? For the video, your ranking is very similar to mine. Except that I'll put X7 and X8 below X2 (lol). I think X2 at least, is much more catchier overall.
I think the X Hunter boss fight theme has pretty much the same issues as the rest of the soundtrack; the loop is too short, and the instrumentation is a little annoying.
Refreshing to see a top of x series's soundtrack, like I have seen alot of tops from bosses to powerups so yeah happy with this (I'm beggining to watch the video)
My Ranking 10. Mega Man X2 9. Mega Man X3 Arranged 8. Mega Man X3 7. Mega Man X8 6. Mega Man X4 5. Mega Man Maverick Hunter X 4. Mega Man X7 3. Mega Man X 2. Mega Man X6 1. Mega Man X5
Forget the soundtrack, X5 is easily the best X game. The gameplay, the difficulty, the controls, they were a step ahead of x4. The soundtrack was just the icing on the cake. Its the most underrated X game
Generally agreed. X8, X7, X2 are definitely at the bottom. X3, X4 are in the middle X, X5, X6 are the top Although I prefer X6 to the X5. It’s just more melodic. X5 is more like cinematic.
I'd disagree with x2 standing below x8 and x7. I'm not sure if I'd place it over x3 due to the latter's lack of variety in instrumentation, lead instrument and mood which gets too angsty after a while due to the short loops, but the whiney, screechy instruments in some of x2's tracks like in Wheel Gator or flame stag and the squeaky ones like wheel gator's lead one also drag it down considerably. Still, I'd make a point that the short loops affect x2's tunes way less than x3's thanks to their general faster pace and being easier to listen than tracks like crush crawfish, tunnel rhino or neon tiger. You also have to listen to x3's themes for waaay more time, since these levels are way larger and the game is considerably harder. Wheel Gator's stage (yeah this track embodies everything wrong with this soundtrack) is at least a very short an easy one
God.. as much as Mega Man X2 is my favorite game of all time. Yeah you are right the soundtrack is very weak. But I would not put it dead last. I would of moved it up 2 spots. And I would of moved X6 down a spot. But yeah X1, X4 and X5 had the best soundtracks in the series. (And I think X1 and X4 were not only better OSTs but tied as the best game of the series too)
I honestly hard agree with X2 being in last. Sure, it has some bangers (like Bubble Crab and X-Hunter Stage 1), but WOW does that soundfont hurt my ears
Yeah going from X1, which I think is the best and the series and such a tight soundtrack, I was so dissapointed by X2's soundfont and compositions. The intro song is the only one I really listen to.
Great video! But I have some disagreements with the list, I think X3 and X4 have the most boring or bland soundtracks. X3 feels really samey like you said
I won't lie, X2 does have a less than stellar soundtrack, but the game is soooo good. But, if I had to say which game arguably has the weakest soundtrack, it would be wrong of me to not say it's X8. Edit: X7 to me has a more memorable soundtrack than X8, that's for certain.
well I disagree with the list, I like the soundtrack of X2 and I think it's better than X7 and X8 But I wouldn't know how to rank it, after all there are many soundtracks that I like and I wouldn't know which ones would be better or worse
The fact that you came in playing these games on ps and ps3 tells the tale of why this ranking kinda sucks and out of touch with us OG mega man players. X and x2 are the absolute best mega man soundtracks by far you would know if you played it when you were 8 when it came out.
You're crazy putting X6 as the second best man, that music was too all over the place and the game being awful doesn't help. I never played X7 and X8 and I never will because it would be heresy considering I played the original X game the week it came out. The original X game should be way higher on this list. Of the X games I've played I'd definitely say: 1. X4 2. X1 3. X5 4. X3 5. X2 6. X6 Video game music wasn't easy to find or even buy back in the day, as getting the Final Fantasy OST's alone required importing them from Japan (and shipping SUCKED). But as far as downloading songs goes, I would say this is in order of the games I had the most themes from to the least. I want to say X5 and X1 are actually tied for 2nd, but X1 just has all around great songs. X5 has some AMAZING songs that are some of the best in all of Mega Man X, but has some clunkers too (a lot of the levels are meh). All the remixed songs from the previous Mega Man and X games are amazing (minus Ranga Bandga...or whatever it's called), and of course Hunter vs Hunter is one of the best songs EVER in Mega Man X world. X3 I only put ahead of X2 because it is more consistent and besides X4, is the one I played through the most. I regret so badly giving it to my friend back in the day. The game was $70 f'n dollars in the mid 90's, it was insanity. I got a Japanese PS2 at the end of High School and got all of the Japanese Re-releases of the MM games, MMX3 & X4, MM8, and that weird animated quick time game that I couldn't play because I couldn't understand Japanese lol. X3's remixed soundtrack for CD was...ok, I think they overdid it with the electric guitars (for real) in it however. X2 had a pretty non-memorable soundtrack besides Zero's theme (always great in every game), and a few other tracks. I never played Hunter X or whatever the remake of X was called because I had stopped playing video games for the most part right after High School ended in 2003. I started playing games again in College when I moved out in 2005 but only Wii with my roommates and our GF's, which was shocking as no girls played games back then. Although I have a feeling doing mounds of snow and playing the Wii was likely the reason, besides playing all the Mario games (every sport game, and Mario Party).
Besides Zero’s theme and the intro stage track, X3 has the worst OST in the series by a mile for me. Every track is composed the same way and it’s lazy and repetitive. I think the music is just unacceptable after how great X1’s OST is.
X8's soundtrack is full of bangers:
>Wild Fang
>Gravity Antonion
>Bamboo Pandamonium
>Burn Rooster
>Vile's theme
>Light Capsule
>VS 8Boss
>Jakob Elevator
>Gateway
>The sad music at Hunter HQ
>Final Boss (both phases but especially the second, HNNNNNG)
And vs copysigma
Bangers is not the word I'd use, the majority for me is complete boredom.
Mmx1 opening stage vibes are unbeatable
I so agree with your #1 pick. That game's soundtrack is so good, it elevates the game for me.
I’d say that “Inferno (Descending)”, “Central White”, and “Metal Valley (Evade)” are also solid metal compositions from X8.
@@iggyminious Totally understandable. Music hits everyone differently and it’s completely fine that those tracks didn’t appeal to you as much.
I absolutely loved Inferno (Desending)
Okay, good to know someone likes the descending theme for Inferno, because the only feeling I ever get listening to that theme is unyielding rage.
in my opinion, X5 OST needs only one chage to become perfect: to use Duff McWallen's beta song. The Bubble Crab remix is good and superior to the original, but the beta version is SO good!

This is basically exactly my tier ist, X6 and X5 are so amazing on their own.
You're right, the X3 light capsule theme is bugged. It's played as a sound effect like the previous games do for their capsule themes, but this time the theme wasn't made with that in mind. The results are... Something
It may be a walking simulator disguised as a video game, but the soundtrack in Megaman X5 is practically God-Tier.
Megaman x6 : let us introduce ourself
@@02brother Nah, X6 is a much more fast paced and varied compared to X5
YOU're a walking simulator, haha
Walking simulator? Wow, you just perfectly described X3, X7, and X8 in one sentence. As for soundtrack, the last one admittedly has the weakest.
Don't get me started on the Japanese ending theme to X5. You should totally listen to it if you haven't.
I completely agree. Mega Man X5 OST is not only the best in the series but in a Top list for VGM period. I DO think Mega Man X7's should be ranked higher. Definitely the most underrated OST in the entire Mega Man series.
Great Video! You should include Command Mission Soundtrack.
Also x5 is my favorite too
I almost 100% agree with this list. The only differences i have in opinion is id move the psx version of x3 soundtrack to the bottom of the list and id move x7 and x8 soundtracks to around where x4s is

X6 Moving on? From what....X6 has the best OST
@@GenyaArikadoPurely subjective. You might believe that X6 has the best soundtrack, but I disagree. That definitely goes to X4.

Great list, gotta love your reasons!
X6 is such a messed up game, but the music is so fitting that it actually makes the game good.
Personally i love X8s ost. But especially the final boss.

I’m glad most of us can agree that X, X5, & X6 are the Holy Trinity of the MMX OST.
This series has some of my favorite video game music
i agree mostly! X8
I’ll take it as long as X5 and X6 is at the top. These two are master classes of video game music.
Generally agreed.
X8, X7, X2 are definitely at the bottom.
X3, X4 are in the middle
X, X5, X6 are the top

Nah, X6 is clearly the one to start with.
shit take on x2 soundtrack, to each their own tho.
I think the reason why X5 was amazing is because X5 was supposed to be the final game for the X series.

Besides Zero’s theme and the intro stage track, X3 has the worst OST in the series by a mile for me. Every track is composed the same way and it’s lazy and repetitive. I think the music is just unacceptable after how great X1’s OST is.
The worst megaman x soundtrack you mean the one that doesn't exist
Wtf???really?mega man x5??hahahahahaha
Yep!

mmx8 so down low? sorry totally disagree
Sorry man but X3 literally is a monotone repetitive guitar mess compared to X.
Yeah, and I ranked X3 multiple places below X1.
Your list is crap, you put x3 to high.
