I'm Making a Knuckles Fan Game
I've been quiet about it up until now, but with this year's Sonic Amateur Games Expo coming up, I've decided to properly announce the fan game that I've been working on in the background for the past few years, as well as answer some related questions one may have.

Why you shouldn't play Sonic Forces at 11 PM
great video!
Megaman X6 was difficult wtf? never felt it. Megaman & Bass was indeed difficult, but very manegable.
Ahhh Mega Man X6. I love to hate that game! Probably the best overall soundtrack of the series!
I’ve heard it said that X6 is a good game for speedrunning, but not for casual play. I can buy it.
0:33 Why did bro turn around like that? Folded under zero pressure.
Considering X6 was obviously rushed, its obvious difficulty spike was highly unlikely intended. And I'm being honest when I say I'd take an unfinished game over a rushed game any day, regardless of quality. So, by the time I get to MegaMan 7, I'm likely not gonna be amused, especially with that final boss. But if MegaMan 7 proves to be satisfying, I'll definitely say I'd play that one over X6 any day. Heck, I'd rather play MegaMan Zero 2 again than X6 because Zero 2 has actual quality. Edit: Well, that explains why X8 has all the unnecessary things that undermine what X4 did. The development team had people that worked on MegaMan & Bass.
Mega Man and Bass is SOOOOO much better that X6.
But x8 vs Lumine second form!!!!. Also ride armor bamboo pandemonium!!! Edit. oh and jakob elevator just to name a few
X6's the game where the challenge comes in the form of how much you can bypass the system rather than the challenge itself. That's why stuffs like part slot glitch or guard shell glitch exist. The game becomes not necessarily hard when you factor those in, but I can see why it's unbalanced. Even with glitches like mach dash guard shell quick kill on Highmax or Ice burst i-frame that are super satisfying to pull off, it doesn't change the fact you're spending more effort bypassing the challenge instead of facing it, which is fine by itself but just shows how poorly designed they are in X6 In conclusion, you make the game difficult by making it challenging, not by making it unfair, simple as that
Rockman and Forte is easily the best Mega Man game
I have beaten MM&B about 3 or 4 Times in my lifetime, and i always found it hard, especially playing it as a kid. But i always enjoyed my time. I've beaten MMX6 once as part of the game cube collection, I hated it, only beat it for the sake of completing the collection, and then i never touched it again.
Hmm? If I recall correctly, MegaMan & bass should be my first MegaMan game... Was it difficult? I don't remember so.. but the music bring back memories.😅
I don't understand why X6 would be considered hard ever. It is probably the easiest
Ngl never had an issue with difficulty with mm&b and x6, had more trouble with mm7 if I will not lie
I won't lie, X2 does have a less than stellar soundtrack, but the game is soooo good. But, if I had to say which game arguably has the weakest soundtrack, it would be wrong of me to not say it's X8. Edit: X7 to me has a more memorable soundtrack than X8, that's for certain.
add jiggle physics to rouge
Yes!! It's great to know that I'm not the only one who has this idea of a solo Knuckles spin-off game! I have a few ideas & concepts on the setting & story of a solo Knuckles game if you would like to hear them.🤩
Normally I'd be hesitant to get help from people I don't know personally (and I still kinda am), but honestly, considering the setting and story are the things I'm the least sure of, I'm interested in hearing outside ideas for them!
@iggyminious completely understandable. This would basically be a re-imagining of the Chaos storyine from SA1, but focused squarely on Knuckles. "Knuckles the Echidna" Synopsis An ancient evil has returned. Chaos, the God of Destruction, who was sealed away inside the of sacred Master Emerald, has re-awakened from his slumber & a which destroy the world out of pure rage. The Master Emerald was shattered as a result, causing Angel Island to once again, fall to the ocean & the shards to scatter all around Angel Island. The appointed guardian of the Angel Island & the Master Emerald, Knuckles the Echida, must race to find the pieces of the to collect the scattered emerald pieces & stop the liquid menace from destroying is home, woth the help of his spirit ancestor, Tikal." I pictured this game to be a treasure hunting, puzzle solving, fighting, & explanational playformer. For Rouge the Bat, I would have this be their very first meeting before SA2. Right before The Emerald shatters, Rouge to find Angel Island, manages to find Hidden Palace Zone (because that's where the Master Emerald should still reside. I never understood why they changed the location from hidden to out in the open) & tries to steal the Master Emerald. Knuckles tries stops her & but Rouge proves to be a formidable opponent. Also Rouge makes Knuckles flustered because he is not good with women (a true fact stated in the Sonic 3 & Knuckles manual). When Chaos emerge from the Emerald, Chaos launches Rouge off to another part of the Island. Knuckles would then fight Chaos 1v1. This fight would serve as the tutorial for Knuckles' combat mechanics. After the fight, Chaos escape similarly to how he did in SA1. Knuckles would then be confronted by Tikal in her red spirit form (think Navi from Ocarina) who will help guide him on his "Quest" for the emerald shards, uncovering the sercets which will slowly reveal the story behind the eradication of the Echidna Clan, & quell Chaos rage. Rouge will of course try to find the emerald shards as well & will uncover other secrets related to the plot. Chaos is body has also been scattered around the island and has taken possesed the animals residing on the island & turning them into savage mini bosses you'll have to fight off long the way, returning them to normal.
Oooh this looks fun! Can’t wait to play the demo
It's looking great! Can't wait
Sounds awesome. 🌟👍
hi I made project ME! it wasn't a SAGE release, I just made it for fun and put it on SFGHQ
Oh, whoops! Must've misread something. Either way, hi, looking forward to giving Tricky a try!
Yeah cuz I swore I never saw a trailer for that on 2022
🎉
& Bass is a litnus test in terms of how well you can manage your awareness, reaction and control are in terms of the official games. It does fumble in how it may present the challenge the first time but so long as you keep track and get familiar with the game, it can be smooth sailing. This video really gave me perspective on X6 that the game itself should have been more tested and tried since there are some cool ideas in the game that just end up being either tedious to deal with or insufferable when it comes to approaching it with what fundimentals past and even later Mega Man games try to instil. It's a miracle the game has just as much cheese on the players end, though still it doesn't absolve so much that makes the game painful to playthrough for most which even for me I struggle to commit to clearing a playthrough. But I'd definitely play it of X7 in a heartbeat if those were the only two I had to choose from a moments notice, it's kind of baffling how things that would arguably make X7 more bareable to go through actually make it more insufferable. ...And also for as much as I do think & Bass is ultimately okay, it PALES in comparison to Challenger from the Future in terms of sheer entertainment. That game is arguable more poorly designed but in just the most fascinating ways where the good ideas actually shine brighter than something like X6, particularly in the boss department and MM & Bass actually getting different boss weapons from each other (Doppler Attack my absolute beloved).
He's literally just worse at x6 than megaman and bass, at least in the clips linked, his deaths are more often his fault. I will say I only played through the GBA version of MM&B, but it was definitely a less fun experience for me.
you deserve more subs, your analysis was so good
Holy fuck the graphics in Mega Man X6 are fucking hideous. It looks like a patchwork romhack.
There's a simple solution to both of these games: git gud.
It was really interesting to hear your comparison of the games, and your opinion of MM&B especially surprised me, as I personally consider it one of the weakest entries in the series. I've played every game from 1 to 11, and the main thing that i hate about the game is that the stages feel like they're made only with bass in mind, while the bosses are the same for megaman, which in the end makes you feel punished for picking either character. I do think that the game also has some good aspects, like the set of weapons or ground man's fight (which is one of my favourites in the entire series), but in the end it borrows so much from megaman 8 that I would just straight up tell you to go play that instead.
Megaman X6 is one of the easiest games and I've beaten it over a dozen times. Mostly with Zero
X6 was my introduction to Megaman lol, I was a kid and loved it, Nightmare Mother scared me. One thing I noticed is I would have to come back to stages multiple times to eventually get enough upgrades to progress, the mod system was cool too.
Rockman & Forte gets more rewarding with time. X6 gets less rewarding with time. Nothing in the former feels half-baked. Meanwhile, in X6 some levels and bosses are complete push overs, while others are a nightmare. Sigma is always the final and most difficult boss in X1-X5, but in X6 the poorly animated first Gate stage boss is more difficult than him. It's clear the former is a tightly designed experience geared toward people who wanted something more difficult than the standard affair. The latter just plays like a game taken out of the oven before it finished cooking.
X6 was a rushed game and made by a novice team, therefore it was very poorly designed, a shame because it has quite a few novel and interesting ideas, but none are well implemented. On the flipside, it's very easy to break, and if you know what you are doing(and playing with Zero), the game becomes way easier and fun to play. It's still very bad, and as a kid I didn't like it, but nowadays after understanding how to handle it better, it become sort of a guilt pleasure.
I'm not sure X6 is bad because it's 'difficult' and more that it's not fun. So many levels just suck, they're not fun, they're not interesting, their minibosses suck too. The level design is bad, there are so many enemies that defend/are invincible in chokepoints that make them annoying or better to damage boost and run. But then there's the nightmare effects to make tedious enemies and stages even worse. It's just a really, bad game. I don't care if people enjoy it- if ya enjoy it? Cool- but there is so much mechanically wrong with it I can't imagine people who can back up and look at it from an objective point of view wouldn't see many flaws with it. I know "Just play it more and you get used to it" no, the stages still have tons of issues that you can't deny. Sure X4 might be too easy for some but it's at least not pulling things that just are not fun. If you're having to damage boost through half the enemies because they're invincible 95% of their time on screen. It's not fun. Or slowly traversing through Metal Shark Prayer's stage, or any of the nightmare effects on top of any of the other gimmicks- it's bad. M&B is hard as heck- but it's only BS on GBA's screen crunch. Like I'm not gonna deny how insane it can be but it's not just BORING like X6 is.
...then there's me who still likes both despite their flaws
I'm glad this vido uses the proper 4:3 aspect ratio for its footage, a sad rarity nowadays.
I still love X6, even with all the flaws
I’ll take it as long as X5 and X6 is at the top. These two are master classes of video game music.
Rockman & Forte came into my life like 25 years ago when I was sailing the snes roms sea (found some questionable stuff) and it kicked my ass, didn't help that it was in Japanese and I had no idea what the story or the items at the store did..still every now and then I go back to play it because it's great. X6 I played long after MM&B, but I've only beat it 3 times. I had better understanding and I wasn't a kid anymore, it was indeed difficult but annoyingly so, it mostly felt cheap, and unlike the scale trap boss in MM&B, where you might die after beating it, you already beat it, yea it's annoying but in a cheeky way, now you know it's coming. MM&B is like I wanna be the guy where you have to learn patterns and memorize traps which gives you a sense of progress and you feel awesome getting through it. X6 feels like Dark Souls 2, cheap difficulty for difficulty's sake, fill the screen with enemies, touch of death traps, annoying platforming. MegaMan & Bass is in my top 5 of MM games, X6 is probably bottom 10.
Megaman player here since childhood. Very intersting video and well structured. I remember playing this two games the first time and loved the difficulty, years after I saw how bad designed was X6 but still enjoyable. M&B i think is still amazing for a snes game.
17:45 idk if you were told due to how old this video is but a channel called The Super Gaming Bros. was able to do the jump with Jumper and Shadow armor in part 7 of their x6 playthrough at 28:47
Come back 😭
One day, but not today.
Years late but growing up with Megaman and Bass outside of rare exceptions it was arguably one of the better games. If I died it was almost always due to me being bad then unavoidable deaths. Now this being said I will say 100% BS if you start the game as megaman without prior knowledge of the stages. It feels like it was designed to play as Bass first to learn the levels and gimicks then move onto megamans less then optimal platforming moveset.
The difference is, Megaman and Bass, though difficult is a matter of trial and error, you get a little better with each mistake. Megaman X6 is a matter of trial and fuck you for trying again, after a certain point you will actually get worse the longer you play. If you manage to beat Megaman and Bass, a wave of relief will wash over you as you deliver the final blow, you might even feel a sense if accomplishment as you watch the epilogue and wonder what happens to the characters after this point. After beating X6 you just feel exhausted, get greeted with a short nonsensical cutscene that was made nonCanon 2 decades ago, then the screen goes black and you are forced to stare back at your wasted youth.
2024 here , great video once again!
and yet, despite all the bs they put in x6, i still consider it superior to x5. having to die for half an hour just to lower the amount of "hours" and enable boss drops is by far the worst thing this series has ever done. i am not counting the games that came after x6, because those just don't exist to me.
Now that the game is out... We can safely say that the unthinkable has happened. Fang the Sniper has traumatized an entire generation of Sonic players
mmx8 so down low? sorry totally disagree
THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT KLONOA AND SONIC AND ALL DISSAGGREER HUNTERS FROM BOTH WORLDS AND GENRES AND TRENRES
THEY KNOW BETTER THAN BRINGING UP CYNTHANEA AND STAFF AND GGRFS AND ALL OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOS FROM BOTH WORLDS NAMES AND GENRES AND TRENRES
