Get you a good strong small magnet and run it along the sheetrock in your hand. When it grabs onto the screw attaching the sheetrock to the stud you've found it. Nice job and these type of shelves look great
I just hung a couple of these in my daughter's room. they look great! One thing that helped avoid having to clamp down the cut pieces together was to drill the dowel holes BEFORE you rip cut the shelf. That way you know for sure the dowels will line up. I do have a doweling jig from Rockler so that helps a ton. But great job and the look is awesome!
Very nice video I like your explanations very clean and simple the only thing I noticed was that the Shelf seem to wobble a little bit I think if you were to put a 2-in screw maybe a couple pocket screws in the right areas anchoring the Shelf with the back Deadwood I think it would make it more solid but other than that I think it's a great video gives me some ideas.
Thanks for those ideas, yeah I think there are several ways to approach it but the things I was hanging were very light. These particular shelves I wouldn’t put more than 10 lbs max. They’re probably more for aesthetics than sturdiness

thanks for the feedback! glad you liked the video. yup, agreed. i should've drilled the holes before cutting the wood which would've made it easier.
@@calvinlum hindsight is always 20/20, right?! haha

Bit wobbly? What's the max load
Yes it is a bit wobbly, it isn’t meant to hold a lot of weight when it’s done this way. I wouldn’t put more than maybe 10 lbs
Gr8 video. You should of substituted the dowl with steel round bar to add to the strength of the shelf..
bruh - that's not a circular saw??
Turned out great! Thanks for the video👍
