Nice breakdown. I think BB is playing possum as much as he is altering the scheme. At the end of the day, it doesn't mean they can't run plays in your video this year and beyond. Lastly, BB probably feels so good about Mac's outstanding rookie year, that he can trust this and the idea if they want to run plays Mac liked last year, he's good to run them. In other words, Mac is getting a lot of autonomy for such a young QB, which is unusual, but it goes to show you far along he is compared to the other QBs in the class and most rookie QBs. My guess is Mac has a load of plays he can "quick call" at the line that he likes and will be go to plays on top of this installation of a new offense. Josh Allen's first 2 seasons were not good, for example. He had 20 turnovers in his 2nd year. It's sort of like when Luck came into the league and was "pro ready". Mac Jones was teaching Billl O'Brien the Bama playbook last year while learning the Pats'. That in a nutshell shows us that he's way beyond a normal rookie QB now going into his 2nd year. Oh yeah, and not to mention BB had a winning season in '08 with Matt Cassel at QB. Not everyone knows this wonderful sport well, but you do. Thank you!
The funny thing about the Erhardt-Perkins for me has always been how it was imagined by its creators as a very simple system originally; short names for play, no names for individual routes but straight up naming the concept on each side of the ball ("Scisors-sail") etc... and I really *like* it a lot as a nerd and a former player. It's really elegant, high in abstraction and it just makes sense if you're taking the time to study it. Downside is the play calls are super dense: if you miss even a word from it you have litterally no idea what's happening on the field, sometimes you don't even know if it's a run or a pass. I think it's really great because it forces every player to really know wtf is going on at all times and really mentally commit to the gameplan. On the other hand when you've been running running sprint for an hour, the west coast and its way of describing what each player does individually on the field really has the advantage that you can concentrate on the specific part of the play call that you needs and just execute.
Will you be doing a reevaluation of these QBs at the end of this season? I’d love to see a follow up on Fields and Lawrence after a year with a new coach and new system

Jones success was entirely predicated off of a ultra soft schedule last season where they played the 3-14 Jets twice, 3-14 Jags, 4-13 Texans,4-13 Panthers, 4-13 Falcons and 12 non playoff teams. Once defensive coordinators had 4 months to look at Mac Jones The Pats lost 4 out they're last 5 and were totally blown out in the playoffs by the Bills . The Pats will be hard pressed to win 8 games in 2022 and by 2025 Jones will be backing up some guy in Atlanta or Arizona

Preach it, D22. He'll wreck Tua, too. Mac is honestly too good to be ruined. His extremely high football IQ was one of the reasons many believed he'd be the third overall pick and no one's going to take it away from him.
My biggest worry is that the oline wont be able to give mac enough time to read all the progressions. That oline needs to figure it out and get mac some time.
i really hate saying this, but the pats arent gonna be good this year. not only do they have a difficult schedule to start the year, but an offense coached by patricia and judge is not good for mac's developement. hopefully the pats can hire someone who not only will help mac develop in a positive way, but also who is competent at offensive playcalling. as much as i want it, i dont think that mcdaniels will only spend an unsuccessful year away from the team then come crawling back and continue to be elite with the team. our defense has also lost some key pieces, like jc jackson and kyle van noy. in the past, there has always been a corner to step up after the star leaves, for example, malcom butler to stephon gilmore, then gilmore to jackson. this year, i dont see anyone being able to fill that role. and as much as i hate to say it, belichick is looking more and more washed as time goes on, and its becoming clear that brady deserves most of the credit for the patriots dominance. hopefully im wrong and the shaky start in miami is not a trend throughout the rest of the year

@@suicidewatch6648 moving from a system that would be built around TB12, who's twenty years of playtime demanded and allowed it. to building a new system around a new QB. going to be an interesting coming few years, to see how they develop that new system. knowing what they learned over the past two decades, and forming those concepts and ideas around this new chapter. fun times.
If being wrong gets you 6 super bowls in 20 seasons idk if I want to see them be right
Brady got the Pats the 6 SB's 😂
Is Bill creating another monster???
How does Rhondmore Stevenson fit in? What does he do?
You used the word Ver Bee age (Verbiage) correctly
I gave you a thumbs up for that.
The video was very informative and detailed. Too bad I cant give you another "like" for that too
Verbiage… that’s why the offense was simplified. The goons taking over play calling duties can barely spell cat with alphabet magnets.
Yes, it's truly not about armstrength.
.. because the force on the ball isn't mostly generated by the arm but by rotating the body.
.. and therefore this commonly used term 'armstrength' is pretty stupid anyways ;)
Other than that, beautiful analysis and explanation of the playing concept.
Belichick loves Satan
Belichick is tanking
Belichick. Tanking is 12 and 5
One playoff game
Do a video on Tua!
Terrible take
@@tyler2103 It's called reality
Realest shit I've read all day but all the pats fans r too delusional to see the truth.
Mac was carried by the 24 rushing tds #2 in the NFL. Nick Folk was the #1 kicker in points. Defense ranked #2 JC was #1 in interceptions. PFF ranked the o line #9. Patriots 2nd least drops of any NFL team. Mac jones was sacked the LEAST of any QB who played all 17 games.
Mac won a game throwing 3 passes. Any good QB would be a super bowl contender with that help
@@jayy88 *FACTS*
just subbed up. excellent analysis - and very digestible for those who are unfamiliar with much of the verbiage of play design. cheers!
Everyone claiming Urban and his OC (Bevell) ruined Lawrence last season. Guess who is Miami's OC this year. Yup. Bevell.
Preach it, D22. He'll wreck Tua, too.
Mac is honestly too good to be ruined. His extremely high football IQ was one of the reasons many believed he'd be the third overall pick and no one's going to take it away from him.
@@mafootballguy7077 lmao yet Tua outplayed 🗑 Jones yesterday
Idk… I’m doubtful
The patriots offense in the preseason was quite possibly one of the worst offense performance I’ve ever seen
Good. BB set to rope a dope.
"preseason" no one cares
My biggest worry is that the oline wont be able to give mac enough time to read all the progressions.
That oline needs to figure it out and get mac some time.
If that’s the case the OL must be very bad Mac Jones is considered be one of the fast read with quick release young QB in the league
@@billshun3963 and he did pretty good last year, but that line has gotten worse just from losing shaq mason alone. Hoping it comes together for them.
Where has this channel been? So concise and packed with great analysis. Instantly subbed
Ooops lmaoooo
If he is going to get better, he has to change the TD/turnover ratio better than 22/14.
No its BAAAAAAD
i really hate saying this, but the pats arent gonna be good this year. not only do they have a difficult schedule to start the year, but an offense coached by patricia and judge is not good for mac's developement. hopefully the pats can hire someone who not only will help mac develop in a positive way, but also who is competent at offensive playcalling. as much as i want it, i dont think that mcdaniels will only spend an unsuccessful year away from the team then come crawling back and continue to be elite with the team.
our defense has also lost some key pieces, like jc jackson and kyle van noy. in the past, there has always been a corner to step up after the star leaves, for example, malcom butler to stephon gilmore, then gilmore to jackson. this year, i dont see anyone being able to fill that role. and as much as i hate to say it, belichick is looking more and more washed as time goes on, and its becoming clear that brady deserves most of the credit for the patriots dominance. hopefully im wrong and the shaky start in miami is not a trend throughout the rest of the year
Am I trippin or has this channel changed narrators
We have 2! There's 4 of us in total - the other two are just british and you dont want their voice narrating football
@@ThinkingFootball Aye two British dudes u gon let this slide
They called hand egg football and they dissed u
Me personally I wouldn’t let that slide
Jus sayin
lmao. it’s so funny how some talking heads projected mac to take over for jimmy g in SF
hahaha looked great against the dolphins lololol
man what happened lol
U get a like and a sub
*devolving
so if we could combine mac jones and trevor lawrence we have the next tom brady
Let’s beat Miami
Exorbitant. . . Verbiage. . . . Host; these words don’t mean what you think they mean. Your voice, however, is 9 or 10 out of 10. Outstanding. If it makes sense and you afford it, hire a writer.
Mac ain't Brady. He's gonna need talent on his side of the football period. I do believe he is their franchise guy though.
Kyle really showed his young nature by taking Lance over Jones. Think he should have taken Jones.
I remembered when people giving Brady shits cuz he did a lot of screen and short passes. Now every one is doing it.
disrespectful lmao
It’s sad how low these pattys have fallen since Brady stopped carrrying the whole team on his back year after year….. Mac and cheese sucks he built more like a spaghetti 🍝
Low IQ comment right here.
Need another rebuild lol
Need a new offensive coordinator
Yeah they weren’t wrong the talent has always been mostly stupid they just didn’t find guys smart enough to run it last year as I was saying all last year. That’s why Cam couldn’t run it Or Chad didn’t do well. I hope it works but like the QB that’s know for his running is not a superior game it’s inferior.
If the only guys who you can find to run your offense to the level you desire are former college QBs, your system is the problem too.
@@ThinkingFootball no it’s not, you find the guys who fit the system just like they have for 20 years. You make no sense. And if your referring to Cam he was never a smart player, smart players don’t do unnecessary flips into the end zone. But then you dive and back away from the ball in the Super Bowl.
