Huge congrats to HD for making this bold move into a new segment with a properly inspiring introduction. I felt pride in the brand, and I don’t even ride a Harley.
I started out on a 1970 Harley Davidson Rapido 125cc two stroke, I was 14 yrs.old then. I've owned about a dozens Harley Davidsons over the years including a 1969 Sprint 350 SS. I'm a 3 time heart attack survivor & going to be 63 yrs. old in August, I ride all year round more than ever. ( I'm grateful to be alive ) In my garage is a 2007 Ultra Classic Olive Pearl & next to it a 2018 114cc Cholo style Red Denim Oxide Heritage. A Pan America would round out my corral. ( I ride a 250cc dual purpose off road regularly & in the winter for now ) Thank you Harley Davidson. The tribute to the heritage of our company in this video is soul moving. I called Sven, a salesman at my HD dealer, Schaeffer's in Orwigsburg, Pa. they will have the Pan America in May. Sincerely, John. BEIRUT Vet USMC Disabled Vet & lifetime Harley loyalist~
Starting Price is $17320, undercutting the BMW GS 1250 base model by 675$ RiverRock paint brings it up to $17550, still under The GS starting price. Holy crap HD, you did it. You priced it right, you totally did it right. GOOD STUFF.
I test rode this bike last week, as part of an exclusive dealers only demo ride event... H-D had a BMW, KTM, and Ducati ADV motorcycle there as well and we test rode those three first... Each competitor left me unsatisfied in one way shape or form... Then I test rode the Pan Am special last and I gotta say... H-D hit the mark on everything for me. This bike is everything that I hoped for and then some!!! Handles like a dream... State of the art cutting edge tech as well... I'm the proud owner of a 2018 FLTRXS but I can say without a doubt, I'm definitely going to buy the Pan Am special... Already have one on reserve!!!! Here's to a new chapter
I'm a european rider for almost 40 years. "Off road" and "adventure" bikes have a new King. I believe this bike would be the best for Europe and especially for Greece, my country. The specific segment is in our ride blood and Harley delivers great. Whith 150 hp and low rev torque plus the "less is more" philosophy is the triangle of success. Can't wait to ride it!
I keep wondering if to fill the pipeline they'll need something for kids to learn on and build toward. Maybe that will come later. A 125, 350 450. I have no idea how big that market is but I wonder if in the era of lockdowns families will run to the deserts instead of disneyland.
@@BMRTV sportster's already fill that market, as well as being a bike to do everything with. my first bike at 16 was a 1200 sportster, rode that thing everywhere. after that bike i got another one.
@@sk8erbeast41 nobody (especially kids) is going to ride a sportsers in the desert with their family. Otherwise they'd be doing it now but instead they are on small japanese dirt bikes
@@sk8erbeast41 No worries. For me the 883 iron is top 5 coolest bikes ever :) My oldest son (late 20's) was looking at one but might be getting a Street Triple instead which has me wondering about Harley's future. IE: would it be good or bad for Harley to expand it's line up to try and get those customers. Maybe do a Streetfighter or a Scramber and of course a line of small dirt friendly bikes. The fact they started being the every man bike says they "could", but they are so pigen-holded at this point it would have to be very good products at good prices. That's why I am excited (fingers crossed) this world travellor bike is actually good at grabbing market share and not just a Motus (neat bike that a handlful try.) Ducati was able to expand away from sportsbikes only.
I'm half way through, and I'm absolutely loving the transparency and honesty, not hiding from some of the criticisms people have had, and responding to them honestly, instead of pretending that everything is sunshine and rainbows. The honesty can go a long way towards gaining new customers. Customers in 2021, are no longer naive or easily tricked by fancy wording. Being 100% transparent is how you build trust. Note: To go from 65 horsepower to 152 horsepower in the same displacement engine, while being lighter, and much, much smoother, is an incredible feat of engineering, and it's very impressive.
Nice paradigm shift with an original aesthetic, very personal, without the trivial "beak" and with the front that takes the family factor of the Road Glide... 😎
I agree. Lots of folks were hating on the front end, but I thought it was a breath of fresh air, especially when compared with the ugly front end of the Ducati Multistrada.
I personally love the huge headlight. It's really ugly, but the headlight's function is way more important than the look. Single round headlights look nice, but are absolutely useless for deer and animals at night. The big wide rectangle headlight should have a very wide beam, which gives you the ability to see in your periphery, which is critical at high speeds at night. In America there are deer lurking in every square foot of the woods, ready to leap to their death violently.
Left my Road Glide behind for a Sportster S last year. Fun bike but I just couldn’t sit on it to go far enough. Replaced with the Pan America Special 4 days ago and simply loving this ride. Great job guys and looking forward to this new chapter

@@MyDyerMaker Yes, i think the european market will of been in thiers minds when the dreamed it up. But surely their main target is the USA, it must be. The bronx is coming, but not this year.
After the video, I immediately went to the HD website to look at price and weight of the Pan America. YES! $17,319 as a base model, $19,999 for the 'Special.' Only 503 lbs. as a base model too. This bike will be competitive against BMW, KTM and others. I am very excited about this bike!
Looks like a winner!. Just thinking of moving to an adventure bike after this Summer. I live in Europe, I bet if the PanAm turns out to be reliable, it will attract lots of non HD riders to HD. Now expand the HD ine up beyound the traidtional HD cruisers to start attracting younger people with decent priced faster and agile machines.
This is a brilliant video. Very well made, superbly written. It really brings out the original off-roading of Harley Davidson motorcycles, back when “roads” were all pretty much just trails. Well done, HD.
Tons of passion from these guys. The secret is always there: it’s not a matter of balance sheets, marketing strategy or other “managerial” staff, the point is having people with even more enthusiasm than their customers
When is the side hack and trailer hitch going to be available ?LOL ! good job btw! , I remember when Shovel heads were new technology, I am sure this will be another struggle for acceptance. I for one am glad to see Harley keeps moving forward. Thank you
H-D needs to have Ewan and Charley take these on the Trans America Trail and call it “The Long Way Back”. Sort of a double meaning there, getting back to their roots and all that.
I don't own a Harley (yet) but I am a cheerleader of American manufacturing, especially for our well established US companies like Harley. I want them to win. I have to admit, I'm impressed and I'm hopeful for their future. This looks really great! Well done video too :)
Harley stepping into the 21st century? This bike looks beautiful and is priced well compared to the competition. I hope they don't go down without a fight.
Jason Momoa, genius, an amazing work of art, should win an Oscar if there were such a thing for videos...maybe there is? At 67 years old, this bike is my dream come true of Harley-Davidson; and it will be my adventure come true if I can keep on living to make it happen. Thanks much.

After watching Obi Wan- I mean, Ewan McGregor, riding the electric Harley Davidson Livewire with Charley Boorman, in Long Way Up, I'd love to see them ride these on a cross America riding series.
I’d rather see a real adventure rider like Dr. Greg Frazier than the TH-cam wannabes. McGregor and Boorman would be a distant second choice as anyone can ride far with a caravan of support vehicles. And MissendenFlyer and Fortnine are real jokes in the adventure riding category.
They are!! I'm a dealership employee and I can tell you that yes, HDMC is doing their part to get us (at dealerships) excited and get the Pan out as quickly as possible. ✌ For more "behind-the-scenes" from Harley, I'd be honored if you subscribed to my channel. 😎
Specs are already on the website. It exceeds the GS1250R in almost every category on paper. I wasn't expecting that, definitely not at the price point.
@@johnnyrodrigo2030 I did a video on rumors leaked about it a month ago and I’m happy to say it came close to all those so it hit what I was hoping for. Glad HD did not disappoint on this one.
Ok. I’m buying a bike within two months. It’s between the Pan American and the BMW GS. Don’t over price it. Inform your dealerships there will be NO MARKUPs.
The BMW R series motor GS model. Has a long proven history in world wide use. The HD has ZERO history. The is a higher risk in going with the new HD. I would buy a GS, Africa twin, KTM, Ducati now because of the history. The low end price of the HD is 17k then we move up to 20k. That is a lot of risk. We will know more in a year or 2 from now. The HD weight is 538 pounds, the new BMW is 590. So Harley chose to go right at the big adventure bikes and stepped right over the mid size of 800-900. Then there is the home run bike of the Yamaha Tenere 700 at 450 pounds with a rock solid motor with a long history at $10,000. The 35 year proven in world wide history of the KLR 650 for $6700. HD has gone right at the big names in the 1000 -1250 engine market. The will surly sell a lot to those who will only by HD but, will they take market share for the big names. If they can't they have a big problem.
@@pcmountaindog You can't compare the Tenerè 700 with these maxi. I'd say give HD a chance with the new project. I have studied a few things on the Internet and it seems like a really solid project. Greetings from Italy.

Gotta say I’m really impressed. The competition is fierce in this segment but I really think they got something here. Way to go Harley.
Great job guys! Innovative creative thinking, truly awesome machine and presentation. You guys Will successfully launch Harley into a new era. Bless you guys. Thanks for the quality entertainment! Namaste🙏
Very excited to see this. I remember back in high school wanting that Baja 125 bike for my first motorcycle ( I didn't get it and instead a Bultaco Matador). Now 50 years later I may finally get that Harley off road bike I wanted, possibly for my last bike. Ironic. Good luck to you Harley on this venture (and future ones too)!
I work for Harley but i must say this is a marketing masterclass. What a great video,I hope from my bones that it will be as good as it looks!
503 is dry weight. 534 pounds ready to ride. Still a great number though!
Good luck getting it at that price
I don’t think this bike will be able to compete with the KTM 1290 SAR at all.
@@elvulch same.
It's a really thrilling and wonderful riding video.
👍👍👍💯💯💯👏👏✌✌
Congrats!
Danke ;)
Leiwander töff?
Looks like a winner!. Just thinking of moving to an adventure bike after this Summer. I live in Europe, I bet if the PanAm turns out to be reliable, it will attract lots of non HD riders to HD. Now expand the HD ine up beyound the traidtional HD cruisers to start attracting younger people with decent priced faster and agile machines.
This is great! Change can be uncomfortable, but sometimes it is needed.
Congrats for your bravery, Harley! Wish all the best for PAN America and for the future of HD!
All right ! I want to take this bike and ride from New York to Costa Rica
Damn that’s on the bucket list this bike would be it
Why not the dirt glide ? I have a ultra glide
If the price is right they will sell. Looks very good and strong, Job done!
Harley finally making the right moves! The king is back!
This is a brilliant video. Very well made, superbly written. It really brings out the original off-roading of Harley Davidson motorcycles, back when “roads” were all pretty much just trails. Well done, HD.
WOW!!! Impressionante! Estamos loucos para ver esse motocicleta no Brasil!
Cê tá Loko mano... Incrível demais... E tem mais coisa pra vim a partir dela
This is it Harley!!!! Absolutely breathtaking advertisement! Keep doing this and you’ll be good! Just get younger sensible celebrities in too!
Youre totally right, marketing masterclass.
Very well done. Just can't say enough about this presentation. A big thumbs up!
What an amazing bike , I am damn sure this thing has the potential to beat the gs1250 and the tiger1200!!
oh that's cute.
😂
@labcoent co ohh really, how??
I don't own a Harley (yet) but I am a cheerleader of American manufacturing, especially for our well established US companies like Harley. I want them to win. I have to admit, I'm impressed and I'm hopeful for their future. This looks really great! Well done video too :)
"First adventure bike made in America"' Never heard of the Buell Ulysses I guess. Still looks to be a very cool bike.
I have one, it's not particularly an Adventure bike like the Pan America. It's a Sport Touring bike. It's a great bike and decent off-road, but lacks.
Have you seen how people used their Harley before there were paved roads? Everyday was an off-road adventure.
Thats what I thought!!
I work on the Ulysses still, they are good bikes when they work but the have electrical and running problems quite often. All part of the fun i guess
Buell is made motorcycles again....without Eric Buell though.
Dang Near in Tears' For This HomeRun! 🗽🌎🌍🌏🇺🇸 The Spirit of The Worthy King Returns👑
I was here to talk smack ! Instead I'm heading to my local HD !!
LET'S GOOOO AMERICA 🇺🇸
Das bike ist echt gut geworden.sieht super aus, tolle front.gute ideen wurden umgesetzt!
Gefällt mir👍
I laughed when I first saw it. Ok now I want one!
Ain't it nice to know that Kenya holds a small piece in the development of this great machine. Good work team Harley!!!!
What an incredible film. Proud of HD.
The most anticipated introduction of any bike HD has ever made.
And I'm betting they're going to have to make alot of them.
So, which one are you all getting? i'm pumped for this bike!
Special. It is what I have been wanting for years.
I love when I see so much quality and effort all brilliantly put together. Great work guys the video was fantastic and the bike looks great.
Kinda digging the River Rock Gray
can't wait i have goose bumps so good to see Harley Davidson going back to off road
Really hoping to see a 975cc Pan (Trans) Am also. The middleweight segment is HUGE, and would be a big miss on their part.
Yeah I think something around 750 CC variant would be good also.
I hope they bring back the Bronx 😢
@@toofastnobrakes yeah with the 1250 would be awesome, I’m not a fan of the custom 1250. But the Bronx needs the 1250 with its platform would be killer.
@@thevtadventure1062 yep, give the Bronx a whole line like most sport-nakeds. Maybe a small 750cc that’s beginner friendly, the originally planned 975cc for a middleweight, and the 1250 for the big boy bike
@@toofastnobrakes I agree 💯
I can't wait to see this in person! I am very excited for the present and the future of H-D. Anyone who knows me knows I'm still stoked every time I ride my outdated Dyna!
PLEASE tell me you have a LOW 400lb ADV bike in the works! Something in the realm of the Tenere 700 and you will have my business! Well done on the bike I hope it really does well!
The possibilities are endless for this Pan America POWER plant... Can't wait for a test ride.. Bring On the Flat Tracker !!!
We still Want The Bronx!
2022
Yeeeees. And just give it the 1200cc from this bike please
@@toofastnobrakes It's a 1250
@@federicosamperi7336 yes, that. I honestly have cared so little about the pan-am I didn’t know
@@toofastnobrakes The PanAm is important though. We need it’s sales to push the new motor so it can be put into other projects. Like The Bronx.
WELL DONE! As a 2x Indian owner and 1x HD owner, I'm so glad to see an American company in the ADV game. I'm itching to pull the trigger on the Pan Am!
I can’t wait to try the tracker version of this.
Glad to see this American brand stepping into modern motorcycling. Also, they did a good job not pricing themselves out of the segment.
I’m very curious to see what TheMissendenFlyer and Fortnine will have to say about this bike.
Nicely done... I hope I can get my hands on one to try out.
Congratulations! Now hire/inspire customer service representatives at our local dealers to represent this product to it’s fullest.
They are!! I'm a dealership employee and I can tell you that yes, HDMC is doing their part to get us (at dealerships) excited and get the Pan out as quickly as possible. ✌ For more "behind-the-scenes" from Harley, I'd be honored if you subscribed to my channel. 😎
What a machine!!! Can’t wait to test it. Congratulations to H-D.
Time will tell .. I wish the MC the best of luck. But I’m still pissed about separating from Eric Buell
Right? They already had this in their arsenal but didn’t recognize the customers that they didn’t have yet. Let’s see what happens this time
Congratulations to Harley for creating something that brings them up to modern times.
Impatiently waiting to see if they deliver...I expect it to be competitive with BMW 1250 Adv bikes on paper.
And the Multistrada 1260
Specs are already on the website. It exceeds the GS1250R in almost every category on paper. I wasn't expecting that, definitely not at the price point.
@@johnnyrodrigo2030 Yes
@@johnnyrodrigo2030 I did a video on rumors leaked about it a month ago and I’m happy to say it came close to all those so it hit what I was hoping for. Glad HD did not disappoint on this one.
All I can say is BRAVO Harley-Davidson !
BRAVO !
That cruiser bike looks sick
BRAVO 👏 HARLEY-DAVIDSON!! 🎉👍
This Should be a beast!
Thanks for listening to what the buyer and riders wanted. It looks like a winner. Hopefully some smaller versions r in the works.
Great reveal given the current circumstances. Excellent bike and great price. Now to find a dealer in San Diego who wants to earn my business.
Go to Laidlaw's in LA if not too far for you @Laidlaws
Welcome back HD to your genesis. Best wishes on the launch of the Pan America and let the new adventure begin!!
Finally, functionality and reliability first. Engineers lead the way.
This is a really outstanding bike and I like it👍.
Good work Harley Davidson!
Great video to 😀.
Ok. I’m buying a bike within two months. It’s between the Pan American and the BMW GS. Don’t over price it. Inform your dealerships there will be NO MARKUPs.
Go HD
It’s priced competitively with the GS, $19,999 for the Pan America Special.
@@daoudmh1 it is. Now it’s up to the dealerships not to gouge people with a markup. Harley dealerships are known for this. If it happens it will kill the Pan American. This bike is to attract non Harley riders, i.e BMW GS riders. If they play their game and try and charge $2,000 plus over retail, this bike will flop and flop hard.
Harley you've now made the entire world drop their jaw with just the tiny hints of future awesome machines stemming from this truly amazing motorcycle
24:17 Haven’t these guys ever heard of the Ulysses XB12X??
Congratulations Harley looks awesome 👏🏻 👍🏻🇨🇦
Dirt riding, harleys, a little history and Jason mamoa making me question my heterosexualness, good stuff
44,000 miles on my Sporty in 4 years, just traded n upgraded to a 114 Heritage. $20 a week back and forth to work 10 months (roughly) outta the year. Entirely more comfortable 114, 2 weeks just broke 800 miles 😃✊✊✊ Ride Ride Ride!!! Just get out, know your route, stay in your lane, keep your distance, no sudden movements if it's a lil wet (cause you don't wanna be drinking dirt in the ditch)...only no no's, major downpours, ice, and gale force winds.
why be a hater? love my honda AT but lets all ride as much as possible rerardless of brand
Very interesting and well made historical video and it’s cool that they came back in the segment. It leaves nobody indifferent: you love, or you hate.
