I ALWAYS go the the cinema alone aside from the odd trip with my other half. I must have been to the cinema alone 100's of times, 3 in the last week! IO also do theme parks alone (two in the last two days), I go shopping alone, I even have been to concerts and music festivals alone.... As someone who has suffered chronic anxiety in life, one of the most important lessons you can learn is to be your own best friend!
I do practically everything alone because I'm a terminally sad git. But I don't see the point of going to the cinema with someone as I go there to watch a film and it would seem inconsiderate to carry on a conversation during the movie so they might as well not be there anyway as I'm still going to sitting there in silence. And the seats in Vue are too far apart to put your arm round anyone so you might as well be by yourself anyway.
One of my last trips I did a three film day though none of them were in the same screen (probably for the best because those chairs ache my legs lol) but I've always gone alone; it's, for myself, more immersive without someone by my side. One thing I tend to note is those around me, when your attention is solo you can pick up on the others in the audience and the general mood. As a for instance when I went to see The Muppet Christmas Carol on the big screen, among the audience was a mother and younger daughter, the cutest thing was how absolutely excited she was for the film to begin and somehow that enthusiasm she was carrying I began to mirror. Being alone gives me a chance to absorb what I'm watching in a way I struggle to if I have someone with me.
That same thing happened a few years ago I was at VUE and saw a father and son seated and it was the sons very first cinema experience he was beyond excited. lol
I go on my own also. My wife goes on her own. We go together. Sometimes my wife and me both go but then watch different films lol. I don’t understand why people need to go with someone. You’re there to sit in silence and watch the movie. You don’t need anyone next to you.
It's the perception that you have no friends or partner if you go alone. They joked about it on Family Guy, but it's perfectly fine to do anything on your own.
Hey Pauly, you are 100 percent right.! I also go to the cinema by myself, actually I prefer going alone to going with somebody else, basically for all the reasons you just mentioned. All 10 are valid and solid reasons. I love my friends and family , but I looooove films, nobody shares my passion for movies, they always want to go another day, another time, another movie ... blah blah blah... We must be two of a kind Paul, thank you for a different and lots of fun video. Long live the movies !!!!
Haha cheers! There are film fans like us and then there are casual viewers who occasionally watch a movie. So far as my family and local friends I’m the only one who buys movies on disc and some don’t understand why I buy them when Netflix exists. Lol
I'm more than average into movies and if I should go to the cinema only when my gf or friends wanted to, I would only visit the cinema a few times a year probably. To go alone is no problem and I enjoy it as much, if not more, than going with someone. The other evening my gf suddenly wanted to have some of her female friends over. I said enjoy and went to the cinema to watch both "A Quiet place Day One" and "Late Night with the Devil". I even had to visist two cinemas in two cities. A nice friday for sure :)
Hi Pauly I go alone. I got nobody to go with, hahah. All jokes aside, nothing bets goung alone,I agree with your reasons here, mate.I guess i just prefer it realy 😢
I have a friend that likes to go, so about 70% of the time I go with him, but I am much more a fan of the solo experience and have done it all my life.
I love going to the movies on my own...no one thinks twice about watching TV alone at home so why should the Cinema be any different. If the main purpose is to go and watch a movie (more often than not your partner isn't interested in) then I highly recommend it. Went to see Romulus in the IMAX alone. Was also cheaper...not having to buy a ticket for the wife ;-)
I never buy or eat food at the cinema as it's always noisy and crunchy. People who bring whole picnics to a showing like it's the last supper, I'm sure you can survive for a few hours. I hate people who go to the loo multiple times during a showing. Go before hand .
I absolutely agree about the food. Eat before you go out!! I'll usually take a coffee in and maybe a chocolate bar but I can't be doing with those great towers of popcorn and noisy cold drinks the size of reservoirs.
To each their own but as I go to the cinema sparingly I like to treat myself to at least a cinema snack/drink. If I'm not going to enjoy the full experience I might as well stream it instead, if I'm there I want to enjoy it fully.
Ah but a hot dog is cool, it makes no sound lol I’ve never understood why some people can’t hold their fluids for 2 hours, maybe it’s a medical thing lol
I went to see a movie by myself for the first time about a year ago and it was fantastic. Now, i dont think id want to go during peak times to a super busy movie... Also, most theaters here in the US make you pick seats when getting tickets now
You’re clearly picking the wrong ‘other halves’ if they do all that shit! I love going to the cinema alone. I don’t need to think about anyone else’s needs other than my own.
You don’t have a partner so how do you know lol Katie and I are really well trained in cinema trips Either of us get food/drink ready prior or make time to pick something up from Tesco / or cinema food We book our seats in cinemas so nobody gets them before us These days I’m not bothered about trailers at the cinema as we’ve seen them all on TH-cam already lol Not everybody who goes to see a franchise film like marvel tend to go as much as fans who know they’re shit lol My wife and I don’t judge what we eat either lol At the end of a film and I wanna see another and Katie don’t, she’ll say you go see it, I’ll pop to primark This whole video is about your other half lol my wife never goes toilet through a film lol we both go before the film For me the main reasons why it’s good to go on your own is having the freedom to enjoy a genre (horror) you prefer Usually Katie will go see something else and meet up after For me though there isn’t anything better than going with Katie or a mate - you get to share opinions immediately after over dinner or a drink Good video mate but it’s basically you blaming it on a partner you don’t have yet lol
Haha the idea for this video came about after overhearing a few people talking about their partners taking too long to get dressed and then missing the trailers. But yeh it’s basically about why going with ur partner can cause you to either miss shit or u start to have a disagreement, I’ve seen it quite a few times. Of course I never have these problems with the people I go with lol
I don't go to the cinema or anywhere anymore because i'm now bed ridden. I have to get all my films online rip them on PC then put them on my media player.
Hey Pauly, it’s James from interstellar! It was absolutely amazing to meet you and thank you for giving up your time to chat 😊 also sorry I forgot I changed my TH-cam name from grand admiral Thrawn a while ago but kept the profile picture😂
I love going on my own I do most times pick the quiet times avoid the Dick heads. Going back many moons my local odeon I went and seen Stephen King's sleepwalkers in the afternoon how is the only one in the cinema Odeon assistant said to me don't be scared🤣
I've not gone alone in years. When I had a Cineworld card, I would when I had free time in the week and then at one point I was working for Cineworld so would watch a movie normally before work or otherwise a few of us would put a movie on after we had closed the cinema! Now, I tend to go with my partner as we like the same movies. Also, Paul, it seems you have some horrible people who watch your videos.
Great to hear about your past experiences working at a cinema. You never know what you’re gonna get in the comments but it’s always certainly fun reading them both good and bad lol
I go to the cinema with my girlfriend mostly and sometimes I go to the cinema with my Mum and I’m looking forward to seeing scream 7 next year with my mum one time I went with my stepdad and I said to him I want to go the cinema to watch the trailers and not miss the film problem is when I went with my stepdad he made me late for the film. The trailers was finished and the film started and I missed five minutes of it because of my stepdad wanting to go to the pub first and then go to the cinema so when I do get my seat in the cinema with my stepdad I was sitting down watching the beekeeper film and my stepdad went fast asleep in the cinema I was watching all of it and my stepdad woke up when the film was over
Been going on my own for at least about 15 years, I don't care what people might think
That’s the spirit mate 👍

Very well said, sometimes doing too much can be overwhelming so if you have your own routine and it works for you then great

Those big old recliner chairs have put an end to the ‘sitting in the back row’ days eh! lol

Very good point there lol And you can always tell her later if you liked the film
Another title of this could have been ‘why being single is better’ 😂
That is very true 🤣
😂😂
I do both with no problems. Go on my own, with just my wife and including my children (who are now young adults).
