    I Sooo feel your pain! the look's of "I'm so over this" after long days of wrenching and battling the beast, yep I so have been there, - The if only I had a bigger/ higher/ more storage space workshop?, If only I had this or that tool? Oh yeh your facial expressions said it all, thanks for posting all that, made me laugh and cry at the same time! I will be watching future posts with interest, I've had my (factory stock) 2002 duel cab 1KZ-TE Hilux for 10+ years love it, so versatile, am now weighing up replacing it with a LC79 Cruiser or? stay with the Hilux and "sensibly" and reliably encourage the engine to put out a few more pony's? still not sure? so many considerations.
    thanx for all your efforts videoing
    Cheers Glenn.

    • @dingeldiy
      @dingeldiy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching Glenn! The Hilux has a special place in my heart but the LC79 Cruiser is a weapon. If you can affod it and justify it I'd go for the Cruiser. If you want power the 1kz isnt the best place to start.

      @@dingeldiy Thanks, yes the more I see on the road the more I think yep - "Fit for purpose" If you want a belt and braces, then it is hard to go past a cab chassis cruiser, just soooo Exy, hard to justify but? - "buy once cry once"

      if you are going to do it…first up get the breathing and cooling right…thats EGR and intake manifold clean…make sure the fan clutch hub is working…then the power mods…go the Chip + 3inch exhaust + ECU top up tune will give you an extra 17 percent on top….with boost controller and dongle…its a good reliable and safe way to do it with the 1kZTE… strongly advise you don’t go the big turbo injector pump intercooler way….you’ll be driving a grenade GUARANTEED…just sayin!

    Hello, I have questions pertaining to a 1kz-te engine I’m dealing with.
    Context is I’m from America and in America and have inherited a forunner with a 1kzte engine and have been struggling to find assistance with troubleshooting.
    Recently the radiator has been going through coolant at a rapid pace and having gray smoke coming from the exhaust, I’ve also found “oil” in the radiator. I put quotation b/c the coolant isn’t milky not any residue on ether the radiator cap or the oil cap, nor have I found any coolant in the oil via dip stick or oil change. A lot of people keep saying head gasket or cylinder head but I’m not having any miss fires or any difficult starting, no problems with acceleration. The smoke from the exhaust isn’t white ether, it’s gray and not bellowing out like I’ve seen in gasket failure videos. Also the smoke is only there when at an idle, it disappears right when reving the engine or accelerating. I’ve begun to look towards the water pump as a culprit of some if not all of these problems but I’m still worried it’s the gaskets or worse the cylinder head. If anyone can give some insight, be it the artist of this video or a viewer, I’d much appreciate it. It’s my late father’s truck and we had been on an amazing trip down the west coast in her before his passing.
    Also the engine only has 60k miles and is the huilix surf molded.

    • @dingeldiy
      @dingeldiy  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      if you're using coolant and you can't see it dipping or pooling on the ground the only logical conclusion is that it's being burned and sent out the exhaust. is the coolant green or red? look for coloured residue in the engine bay as the leak may only occur under load and be hard to detect at idle. If you cant find any leaks, do a compression test and a leak down test. Compression test will tell you if there is a problem. Leak down test will tell you if the problem is in the top end or the bottom end.

    You sanded the block deck with the pistons in?! Abrasive grit is now inside your engine where it will do a lot of damage. Cummins is 100% clear that there should be no abrasive use on an unsealed engine.

    • @dingeldiy
      @dingeldiy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I agree this is far from the ideal way to "rebuild" an engine. Unfortunately for me there were time restraints and a strict budget. A workshop quoted me 8-10k AUD for a professional rebuild and what I did cost me roughly $1k. Even though compromises were made, what I did got me and my work car back on the road and back to earning money again. I also taught myself a lot about engines and got to share that journey online through these videos. I did my best to keep things clean and I'm sure whatever I missed was caught by the oil and oil filter which I changed after 1000kms of driving.
      The car is still running and driving as it should and if it breaks down again maybe I can do things better next time around.
      Thanks for watching!
