Seriously, if you get the chance then just do it. We went last month and the country has loads of great sights and things to do, and the people there were brilliant.
YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING!!! Thank you for sharing your wonderful trip. Guatemala is my native country and you visited great places but maybe in your second visit you could go by " El Castillo de San Felipe", Livington and other side of Atlantic Ocean. And I still remember climbing all that 40 years ago and the pain, the pain.
Thank you for sharing your adventures. I just got back from Mexico City and had an incredible time especially in Teotihuacan. One of my guides also does tours in Guatemala and recommended I consider visiting. After this video, I think I'm sold.
This is the best format of travel videos I've ever seen. This is exactly the infos I wanna know about a travel. Thanks for that, I'll beggin planning travels always with your videos from now on
Great video. I've been in my 20's and loved it, considering taking my family. Getting ill does put me off. Alot of people got ill, me included swimming in Atilan, the water is really dirty and all the towns waste (hospitals included gets emptied there) such a shame as it looks clean/beautiful.
Thank you so much for this video. It was so informative whilst still being interesting. Will be using your recs when we visit Guatemala soon. Looking forward to seeing your other vids and have subscribed ✔️

First off, I love the mapping, it really helps to get the layout of the country. My only question is, did you feel safe there? I've heard stories of crime and the State Department recommends against it. What are your thoughts? Thanks!
Hi, thank you, glad you find it useful! 😊 To be honest, even after traveling through Brazil and Colombia, we were a bit apprehensive before going to Guatemala and neighboring El Salvador and Honduras, as people do say a lot of bad things about these countries online. It’s much more difficult to get around as there is no advanced public bus system, and there are a lot of bad stories about gangs attacking chicken buses. BUT honestly, it was absolutely fine once we got there. We still recommend using the transfers even though they are pricier; it’s a fast and safe way of getting around. Try chicken buses somewhere in Central America, it’s fun and authentic, but you do need a lot of patience for it 😅
hey there! My brother will be traveling/visiting fam in Esquipulas and we're glad to know there is a bus from Chiquimula to Santa Elena. Do you recall the departure time? It's super difficult finding any info since these companies rarely have an online presence. Thanks in advance.
Difficult to say! It is very steep for quite a large portion of the hike (pretty much the first 4 or 5 hours) which caused problems on the way back down as well because it was hard to keep yourself from slipping & it was sore on the knees..
Great video and good tips for planning my trip! I have a technical question - how do you make the moving map clip? What software or what tool is it? Thanks
Hey! I am booking to go to Guatemala today, I am going for 3 weeks (flying from Madrid), do you recommend flying into and out of Guatemala City or Flores?
Can I ask what would be a recommendation for a camera to video and take pictures I want to get into photography and video, it would help if I can get pointed in the right direction thanks.
Hi, we stayed in a hostel called El Extranjero in Antigua and it was fine. We just booked a big Airbnb in San Pedro for all of us so can’t really help you there 😊
We took the chicken bus when traveling in Guatemala. It’s quite an experience, can be quite stressful, but it’s dirt cheap and sometimes faster. From Guatemala City to Monterrico (black sand beach), some girl at our hostel took the shuttle at 6 am, with a transfer in Antigua, for 15$us. We took a much later « direct » chicken bus, which turns out not to be direct, they overcharge us, but we still manage to arrive there around the same time then her, and pay like 3-4$. That was an adventure!
Yeah we know about Chicken buses and took some in El Salvador.. Usually it’s way longer, it wasn’t as convenient on our route, in fact, there are none that go to Semuc Champey and we all had baggage😓Honestly, the only chicken buses we saw were in Antigua😂
Be aware that if you live in the US there is a lot of fear based news about a lot of countries. Some is based in truth and often it is sensationalized. I traveled in Guatemala alone (making friends along the way) for about 2 months and I felt so safe there. It’s important when traveling not to wear valuables, be vigilant, learn some of the language if you can which boosts your confidence and be conscious of areas experiencing unrest. I will say that I heard Guatemala City has more crime issues so I left there after landing to head to Antigua and Lake Atitlan.
How much did the transfer cost ? Guatemala to antigua? Antigua to atitlan ? Atitlan to semuc ? Semuc to flores ? Flores to tikal ? Flores back to guatemala ?
I’m considering going since it’s only about a 3 hour flight from me. Antigua, the volcano and lake seem to be what I’d love to do. How much was the hotel by the lake? How far is the lake from Guatemala City?
Guatemala is so beautiful, rich and unique. The Malvinas belong to Argentina 🇦🇷 and Belice belongs to Guatemala 🇬🇹 the Land of the great Jacobo Arbenz, Miguel Angel Asturias (Noble Literature Prize and Lenin Prize) and Kjell Eugenio Laugerud the last Guatemalan president who kept the Guatemalan currency the Quetzal paired with the French Franc, the US Dollar and above the Swiss Franc. Kjell Eugenio Laugerud (RIP son of norwegian father and Guatemalan mother) famous for his patriotic fight to recover the Guatemalan territory of Belice. Belice is 100% Guatemalan territory by law and history. God bless you all
*We appriciate the support cheers from Guatemala, we hope the ICJ doesn't sell out to the Europeans like they tend to do. Guatemala does not deserve to have they're land and marine time term taken from them by a country only 60 years old. I hope Guatemala gets año her land back!!!*
Thanks for sharing. Is so beautiful and rich the Kingdom of Guatemala established since 1609 and rhat extends from El Soconusco (today Chiapas) to part of Panama. Guatemala is 12th producer of silver in the world and 20th producer of gold besides having massive reserves of nickel, jade and so many other natural resources too bad for almost a century big multinational multi-billionaire anglosaxon criminal corporations have been taking almost everything. Long live Juan Santamaria the heroe of Costa Rica who died in battle against the anglo pirates. The Malvinas belong to Argentina 🇦🇷, The Esequibo belongs to Venezuela 🇻🇪and Belice belongs to Guatemala 🇬🇹. Guatemala exploited and sabotaged for almost a century but never gives up!!. Long live the memory of the great Scottish patriot William Wallace Braveheart. From 1925 to 1984 the Guatemalan currency the Quetzal was paired with the French Franc, the US Dollar and above the Swiss Franc. Sorry for the long message. God bless you all
The movie Apocalipto has a good human story and good acting but it is not a good potrayal of the Maya culture. They are protrayed like Aztecs who gave excessive indescriminate human sacrifice to their blood thirsty war god Hutzilopotchli. Maya did offer human sacrice but not just anybody, nobles and heroes offered them selves to help their people receive blessing like rain when drought was in a state of emmergency. That's a far cry from the Aztecs.

Hi! They are 2 buses in the morning (I think 6 and 10am) and 1 in the afternoon (around 2pm) and you have to buy tickets on the bus station😊
Thank you for this video, may consider visiting….that hike too hard for a fairly well fit 70 year old?
Difficult to say! It is very steep for quite a large portion of the hike (pretty much the first 4 or 5 hours) which caused problems on the way back down as well because it was hard to keep yourself from slipping & it was sore on the knees..
@@SomethingToRemember I think I’ll pass….

Hello, any advice as far as traveling to Guatemala in the beginning of August?
Hi. No sorry, we visited at the beginning of May 😊
Which was the shuttle company you used?
Check the description box
Hey! I am booking to go to Guatemala today, I am going for 3 weeks (flying from Madrid), do you recommend flying into and out of Guatemala City or Flores?
I don’t think Flores has an international airport… but if you can, fly there 😊
Nice video❤❤❤❤

GUATEMALA IS WONDERFULL IS THE MOST BEAUTYFULL COUNTRY IN AMERICA, HAS EVERITHING
It sure is 😊
Also has garbage littering the streets everywhere?
Females have little rights , has everything is correct. Look it up on youtube.
Can I ask what would be a recommendation for a camera to video and take pictures I want to get into photography and video, it would help if I can get pointed in the right direction thanks.
We use canon 90d and we absolutely love it!
What hostel would you recommend to stay at while in Antigua and in San Pedro?
Hi, we stayed in a hostel called El Extranjero in Antigua and it was fine. We just booked a big Airbnb in San Pedro for all of us so can’t really help you there 😊
How many days in Guatamala City would you recommend I'm on my way there next week.
1 night probably would be enough😊
We took the chicken bus when traveling in Guatemala. It’s quite an experience, can be quite stressful, but it’s dirt cheap and sometimes faster.

How much did this all cost excluding the air tix from your home country
Hey, you can learn how much we spent by downloading this guide, it’s free😊⬇️
somethingtorememberyt.getform.com/251mr
Have you been to El Salvador?
Yes, loved it😊
What time of year did you go?
We went in early May
What does "pp" mean. Is that the currency?
PP means per person. The currency is Euro.
@@SomethingToRemember ooh ok .Thank you!
Did you have favorite hostels while on the trip?
We usually don’t stay in hostels and for this trip we mainly stayed at big airbnbs for 5 people😊
How can you stay safe in guatamala? like from what i head its one of the most dangerous countries
Just take the same precautions you would when travelling anywhere else - We didn’t have any problems at all 👍🏻

Skipping the pleasantries, but hey, around 2 days is perfect for Antigua.

Your pdf is only 3 pages ? I thought there would be more details?
It’s free though☺️
How much did the transfer cost ?
Guatemala to antigua?
Antigua to atitlan ?
Atitlan to semuc ?
Semuc to flores ?
Flores to tikal ?
Flores back to guatemala ?
Rewatch the video 🙌🏻
I’m considering going since it’s only about a 3 hour flight from me. Antigua, the volcano and lake seem to be what I’d love to do. How much was the hotel by the lake? How far is the lake from Guatemala City?
