@@CallioNyx I agree, but to play devils advocate for a minute, it could also just mean they have the investor backing to pay for the big names... Investor confidence in the team/project being high is a good sign in itself though.
I'm holding out hope for Exodus in part because I am not expecting the next Mass Effect to be able to deliver, given all the numerous departures and disasters at BioWare over the last few years. I like everything about the game that I've seen so far, just wish we had it yesterday!
It's not quite accurate to call Karpyshyn "co-lead writer" on Mass Effect 2. Rather, he was THE lead writer- until he left the company not long before the game's release. He was replaced by Mac Walters for the home stretch (who then was credited above Drew!). Wlaters was responsible for ME3's terrible enfding.
Had me sold on this game the moment i heard one of the fathers of Dragon age origins was involved, its the only Dragon age worth playing more than once.
Being the next Mass Effect is a really ambitious goal. But I’ll be hopeful nonetheless. Also, Exodus feels like a really fitting name, considering all those involved in its development.
I think BioWare was done the second they got purchased. This was always the future of mass effect and I’m unbelievably excited to get my hands on this. Great video
The depth of the lore (from what I've seen) is a good sign - they've clearly done their worldbuilding and it makes sense as hard(ish) sci-fi space opera. Now, they can still fail miserably in execution, so let's hope they don't. I, too, want to scratch that itch left behind by Mass Effect 3's horrible conclusion.
Man, I just hope this will come to see the light of day. An SF game with somewhat realistic space travel that respects General Relativity and where you have to deal with the consequences of that as part of the plot, that would be a dream of 40 years to come true. And people who made some of my most favorite CRPGs - BG1 and BG2 and DAO - are involved in making it.
Trailer's made by BLUR, which is a the BEST industry company making trailers for games. They do amazing work, that however does not usually contain any in-game graphics at all. Just an observation.
The Outer Worlds disappointed me. Thought it was going to be New Vegas, but in space. Exodus? It'll be something similar. Don't expect a Triple A game or anything great as Mass Effect.
ME 1, DOS 1&2, Witcher 1&2 all had to happen in order to get ME 2&3, BG 3 and Witcher 3. Even if Exodus only lays good groundwork, as long as it's solid we could get some amazing follow-ups.
Very excited for this. The world sounds unique and interesting, and focus seems to be an impact of your decisions not on you but your civilisation aswell. Im sure gameplay will at least be somewhat fun, but its the scope, characters and story that will hopefully carry it, which is what made dragon age and mass effect worth playing even now.
James Ohlen was the game director of Star Wars: The Old Republic in its "vanilla" version (before they released the janky, confusing, over-the-top expansions that totally reshaped the game... for the worse). Having Drew Karpyshyn as lead writer on this project is the selling point for me. I, personally, care far less about what "A-list talent" they've recruited for the project. Many games have had A-list celebrities voice characters in games with "AAA" studios that have garbage narratives and terrible gameplay. For me, it's always been the talent behind the camera/monitor that is the most important. You could have Brad Pitt or Ryan Reynolds voicing your characters but if the game sucks in every aspect, what's the point?
This looks very promising based on the who is involved. Everything you said in the video was music to my ears. AND can you believe it guys? The men in the trailers appear masculine, & the women appear feminine (& dare I say attractive?). 👏🏻 👏🏻 there is still hope for the gaming industry, I will be rooting for this game. If it’s even 75% of what Mass Effect gave us, I will be happy. But hopefully it will be just as good if not better
I dont feel exodus will have the range of stories ME2 and ME3 had, since they set up the AFK Reapers and left room for multiple bad guy puppets like the collectors, they were few and far between leaving room for lots of side stories. But with that being said i like what i see, and it may be worth updrading my MB and Video card, the CPU maybe. Just remember the ME3 failed ending, avoid that and add lots of reasonably priced and timely DLC and we'll be happy
The story felt like a flashback to ME2, albeit more subtle and emotional. The selfless sacrifice of the male protagonist made me think the writers have an insight to the male psyche. Got a good feeling about this game, unlike any recent BioWare title.
Screw “BioWare” nowadays. Give me something from the REAL BioWare. I’d take it any day over the politically charged slop we’re getting from “BioWare” these days.
Voiced characters are a problem not for "personal choices", but because voiced protagonists limit the amount of diversity you can get from their lines. Silent protagonists can say whatever they want in a multitude of options that enhance storytelling. That is why voiced protagonist is a hinderance for story telling. No studio will pay thousands of dollars more to VA, or multiple VAs just to cover enough ground to be nice.
With what I'm hearing about the latest Dragon Age, I don't think the next Mass Effect will be worth the turds in a highfalutin cat litter box. Exodus seems like it will be the equivalent to 4-D chess, as far as a 5 Star game is concerned. Let's hope it actually is what they say it is!
This is the number one game I'm looking forward to. Great vid, Subscribed. Read some Peter Hamilton, you won't be disappointed. The Naked God is fantastic, if you can still find it. Somebody's got to take up the mantle and make quality Bioware-like games. Bioware certainly isn't.
Thanks mate, really appreciate the support! I’ll definitely be covering Exodus more in the future. And yeah I really need to read some of Hamilton’s work!
I donno... Playing with time? Did it ever work? I think idea is too complicted to ever be properly explored by any media, even book (which unlike a game has all the time in the world to do it...ha ha time... heh). Apart for that I feel my hackles rising watching a man/npc or companion of darker skin kind crying. So in touch with his feeling he is. And his girlfriend, the owner of very dark skin reeks of inclusion. Does it mean that developer is already infested by WOKE rainbow cancer? I don't know, but bells were set off and alarm is ringing in my head. I will see what time brings. Actually, no. I don't want any Matthew voiced protgonist running errands in another galaxy, fighting some over-ripened humans or what not. I want my Sheppard back. Him and all the good guys too. Garrus, Wrex, Liara, Tali, Alenko, Joker and Edi, and others from 2 and 3. And Reapers, or whatever greater force that was pushing them. And definitely no Star Child. That's all I want. Still it's apparently asking too much.
Î can't express how much I dislike seeing a game being bashed with that slur for being inclusionary. I am happy if a game doesn't only cater to the white supremacy alpha male gamer trope.

I'm not in the least hyped for Hollywood actors being attached to video games. But I'm very interested in having Drew on as writer.
While I'm not hyped for hollywood actors as such, it does suggest a level of confidence and dedication to quality that is absolutely not irrelevant.
@@CallioNyx I agree, but to play devils advocate for a minute, it could also just mean they have the investor backing to pay for the big names... Investor confidence in the team/project being high is a good sign in itself though.
All they had to say was "Drew"
Mass Effect wasn't the same without him.

Exodus to me looks like what Andromeda shouldve been. Besides kcd2, this is the only other game im looking forward to.
Same. It strikes me as the game Andromeda SHOULD have been.
Hamilton is an amazing sci-fi writer, ok now I'm excited.

I’m incredibly excited for Exodus, the Mass Effect trilogy is my favourite game series of all time. I truly hope Exodus lives up to the promises.

"Hey man, you got a blaster on you? You'd be a lot cooler if you did"
I wasn't a fan of the mass effect games, but I appreciate that you definitely can see the DNA of BioWare in Exodus.

The PFH book I'm about 25% through.... It's brilliant so far. Also recommend the rest of his work.
Currently busy with studying at the moment but as soon as I’m done and have some time, I’ll definitely be reading his work!
OMG the creative team making this game is legendary 😳😳😳😳

Archetype has Hasbro money behind it- it certainly has a AAA budget. Of course, given Concord and Outlaws that's not a guarantee of quality.
I like this game mechanic with tangible impact on your action

I was LEGIT waiting for Matthew to joke that, "Time. Hell, Time is a flat circle..."
BioWare might not deliver with the next Mass Effect - maybe Archetype can with Exodus?
They are keeping Andromeda,canon.
Just look at the new dragonage. Bioware went woke and is going to tank
Super excited for this. Massive ME fan like you. Thanks! I have subscribed.
Thank you!

I find it hilarious that you left out Seth Green when mentioning actors that were in Mass Effect.
Currently halfway through reading the Exodus book, which I'm sure this is based on, and ai cannot wait to see how they depict Celestials! 🤪😃

Too far away to get excited about, but good that it's out there on the horizon.

I fell for the "your choices matter" pitch the first time. Never again
Fear the hype.
Sounds & looks interesting. Ran to the playstation store to see if it was there until i realized you said it wasn't out 😅

Nice video. Just one thing. Omega Centauri is in Milky way. Its a cluster of stars
Ah my mistake, thanks for pointing that out. I’ll make sure to get that right for the next Exodus video!
