Studio One is also my favourite DAW. But most of the people never heard of it. I tried, cubase, reaper, ableton, bitwig but I went back to studio one. The only reason I heard from studio one, is because of the presonus interface, I bought 10 years ago with Studio One 3 Artist version.
Not sure how valuable this response is a year after you posted the video, but to respond to your question: Yes, I definitely want to see Studio One videos. I'll basically always click on a
eye-opening for me in several aspects. thank you. currently hunting around to watch mixing in studio one done in real time, people actually mixing on camera, so that I may get a feel for their process,
Thanks. I didn't realize you could store as default preset, that would have help me eliminate many headaches in the past when I was a beginner. With the Studio One 6 update, I have actually starting using Track Presets instead. I set all my routing (like you did in the video) but I also route those channels to a drum bus and so forth. Additionally I pack ImpactXT and KickDrum2 into a folder and I then set it all as a track preset. It's such a huge time saver. Gregor has a video on Track Presets in Studio One 6. I can make a video of my process if anyone is interested.
Save every type of initial session configuration you might use as a templet. That way every new song is already tracked out with all of your plugins, instruments...etc... and your "initial" settings for those tracks & plugins. You could be recording in less than a minute with zero setup time. Then just save your new song under a new name so you always retain the templet for future use.
This was a massive tip! I am late to the party, but appreciative. Studio One rules! I love everything about it, but I'd own it just for low latency monitoring. I'd always rather have my amp miked, but spend most tracking and practice time in headphones so achieving 1.3ms latency feels great under the hands and sounds right in the cans. New fav: any Neural Archtype plug-in.
helpful, because I find both Impact and Mai Tai useful, very useful, but a bit complicated at times, especially when I first started using StudioOne. I wouldn't mind more tutorials on mixing, using the splitter tool for various applications, as well as gain staging. It seems that by the time I get through with a song, I end up sometimes having to use a limiter, and I would prefer not to use a limiter until I get to the mastering stage.
Bitwig and Fl Studio user here. I like Studio one but I can't commit to it because you can't pan the view with the middle mouse button. Great video Nic!
more studio one bro I just got one and I was half ass using audacity. This is all new to me I bought a Presonus One audiobox and it came with all the studio one stuff so Im clueless but learning. Im having most trouble with latency and the drums on here, thanks for the video man.
Ok so im an artist/producer using studio one.. one thing I like to do is get a bunch of beats I've never heard and do like an hour long freestyle session.. only thing is when I select like 20 beats and it brings them in the all go down on separate channels then I have to spend time lining them all up on one channel back to back.. is there any way of selecting a bunch of beats at once and having them all come in back to back in a continuous fashion ??
Hi, i think this vid is answering to my question .. I separate kick, snare, hihat etc .. AND the only volume acting is kick's volume (track1) .... 🤯 It rules kick's volume of course, but also snare, hihat etc volumes .. Strange thing 🤔 I'll try your trick tomorrow. Thanx a lot ✌️
Hey! I actually don't entirely know, I'll have a look into it. What I do is just render the audio down when I'm finished and then it expands the various instances into audio files on the arrange window!
My brother this is cool but you could just play out your drums at once and right click on “explode to pitch” and it separates them automatically hope that enhances your work flow even more good brother!
I've been a day one user of studio one since back in 2010..version 1. People use to laugh when I mentioned this DAW now,....it's awesome to see what it's developed into.
They just don't know. A DAW which was made after Cubase is the best. And both of them have got better through the years. Steinberg made Studio One. First it was Krystal Studio at the end of the 90s. Then, Krystal Labs (2004) And, Presonus, after it bought Krystal Studio was renamed Studio One in 2008.
Just switched over from FL and Reason 10. Loving Studio One 6. So I’ll devour any content you put out. Just subscribed. I like the way you present info. I’m female btw 😂
Also, how do I duplicate an impact? Let's say I customise the settings and sounds in an impact, I want to duplicate it, but the duplicate also overrites/controls the original too. Can you unlink a duplicated impact from the original?
Say N Ro … how can I create an arpeggio in impact Xt bro? Say I wanna put a hi hat to play fast across track 2 ??? I put the kick n clap in track 1 but for the life of me I can’t create rolls or an hi hat arpeggio in Impact Xt Studio One 6.5 pro. Can you assist me plz???!!!
I would like to do some live looping with midi keyboard and a physical instrument like guitar or kalimba. Maybe you can help to set it up in SOKeep up the good work!
Hey Nic, do you know why IMPACT XT will not let me overdub? For example, if I record kick and snare in one go, it will allow it, but if I record a kick stop the session and then try to record snare record over the kick. And I don’t hear the kik at all. Can someone please help. I hope my explanation makes sense. Thank you.
Hey mate! Okay, so without making a video about this I hope I can eplain it. If you look at the tool bar at the bottom of the screen and see where the tempo is - go left a little bit (past the metronome settings) and then to the little cog wheel that's to the right of 'Sync'. Click that. Next you'll see 'Instrument Loop Record' - try 'Record Mix', I think that might be what you want.
I started watching this video but it took so long to wade through the various compliments for studio one and requests for comments that I gave up and moved on to the next one...
LIKE YOUR CHANNEL can you let me know how to reinstall studio one from fresh step that the way i would not lose my vsts and my libraries like EZdrummer THANKS BRO AND GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR WORK GREAT JOB
Thank you! I think if you have to reinstall from fresh then you'll lose only the stock plugin settings, but libraries and vsts like EZdrummer will stay - you'll just have to rescan for them when you start it up!
Great video bro❤️. I have a doubt though. Suppose i start with other instruments first and decide to add Impact with a default setting later, will it get routed to channels that were initially created or completely on new channels?
here is two important problem with studio one's piano roll that there is not possibility's same as fl studio its about 4 years that im making beat with studio one and its really good daw but first important problem is piano roll that it is not good as fl piano roll and there are many reason for it first one is as u can see u cant just drag and drop one shots in to the play list like fl and u have to open several sample one and impact.maybe now when u are watching this tutorial u think why several?now im telling you that just for making drum line like here you need at least 2 more sample one beside this impact that you linked it to mixer because in trap in drill we need close/open hihat rolls so we need sample one to make hihat rolls get high/down pitch.i have to use that hihat shot like melody and here is the problem that impact doesnt have piano roll option to solve this problem.even for making 808 slide u have to put all the notes on glide inside sample one but actually we need some of thoes nots to slide not all of them.and there are more option with fl like powerful stock plugin's that they are enouggh for beat makers but studio one is too cheap in this
@@nicrolloYou'll get more engagement through some strategic editing. This is a handy video, but I'm willing to bet you are getting drop outs before the important stuff.
Yo! So by only one track you mean on the arrangement view you can only see one track? If so that's fine! When you render the drums out they'll bounce out to individual tracks (kick, snare, hat etc etc etc)
@@nicrollo yes. So Ive bounced the whole down , but I'm guessing to get the individual drum I should turn down the volume on the rest then bounce? I'm fairly new to this and don't quite understand all the terminology as of yet . There's so much to learn/take in . 🙄 Thanks for replying btw.
More Studio One videos, please. Especially mixing and mastering content.

Great tip, Nic! I'm a Studio One user for two years and I'm always looking to learn more.

how to we create a track from each impact instance so we can see it in the project and not just the mixer/console?

How do all these other tracks work? Are they sub-bussed tracks from track 1? Also, are they stereo ?
