@@notdoomguy1616 To be fair, T-80U is not exactly secret, thanks to the fall of USSR. Hell, Russia even used them to write of debt to South Korea. Those were not export versions. 2A6 is kinda easier, since Leo2 is so ubiquitous and from what I understand the export versions are not lesser ones, it is the same tank, with some local differences and variations in ammunition. Abrams - now this is an actual guess work, export versions have different armor and ammunition. T-90 - same thing as Abrams. As for Merkava - depends on the model. M1 in working order is accessible in Czech Republic (a gift for museum) and supposedly also in Jordan. M3 and M4, especially of latest modifications gotta be under seal, though.
Honestly these tanks are some of the best in the game-particularly the 3D. As an Abrams player who never bounces anything, my 3 merkavas are welcome additions to my line-ups.
I've seen these first hand, and got a chance to climb around in a Merkava 3 as well as later saw a Merkava 4. These massive beasts are not kidding around, and look like prehistoric dinosaurs on land. An amazing piece of machinery with all sorts of modern tech looking back at you when you come near it.
I did! I've been to an Israeli museum and there were TONS of planes and I saw the Merkava mk.1 and more historical tanks they used. It was very interesting, I've learnt a lot.
“Have you seen any Merkavas with you own eyes?” Yeah, I was stuck for 30m behind two of them on freeway 90 at 10PM. And there’s an awesome tank museum near my house that also houses the last Panzer 4 used in battle
well, i am an ex IDF infantry and had the luxury to train next to these work horses (merkava mk.4) and feel the ground shake under my feet as they drove next to me and feel the air leave my body when they fired close to me, and i had the luxury to be in one
I saw all of the merkava’s in Israel tank museum. went there few times with my grandpa because he was a solider in the armed forces of Israel and he used the magach and the shot kal
I served with these beasts... Especially the 4's and the most modern ones the 4-400 (the M model) AND I HAVE TO SAY THEY ARE LACKING THE ICONIC CHAINS ON THE TURRETS IN THE GAME!!!! How could you miss that part????
I noticed that too when inspecting the Merkavas recently. I hope they'll eventually get added. The chains are iconic! The Merkava is pure love. Can't wait to get my first one, but I am only at tier 4, researching my first tier 5 Israeli tank
I love the Merkava's turret design, that change from the more rectangular one like the Leclerc, I hope to see more modern tank with this type of design because it is just BEAUTIFUL
to be honest i never heard of the Merkava tanks before they appeared in War thunder, and when i first saw the Mk3 variant, it kind of reminded me of the Scorpion tank from Halo 3.
The turret on the earlier models is a bit of a turn-off for me, but the Mk. 3 variant is actually quite good looking. Reminds me of those sci-fi tanks you constantly see in games and such, with the turret way in the back, the Scorpion from Halo probably being the most obvious. It's a neat design, really unique. Hell, even Gaijin's own fake sci-fi tanks use that design.
Merkava did had APS protection, but it was only installed on the newest Merkava variant And no, T-90A does not have Arena APS.... at least as of right now
I saw it at the tank museum Munster in Germany ,one of the Guides told me that you ( Gaijin ) were coming soon to collect data and I was there before it was added to the game. So I guess you where in Munster to complete the model or somthing.
Merkava has more direct lineage that made them related to the Centurion (In fact, Merkava is basically a Centurion driven in "reverse", literally from the earliest prototype down to the suspension design it used in service) yet for some reason its getting placed in the US tech tree, making the US tech tree as bloated as the Russian.
I think its there becaus a lot of parts in the merkava(cannon for example) is an american parts, and the merkava is not exacly "Centurion-revers-engineering" it take a lot from the Centurion, but the majority of the design is israeli engineers to make the perfect tank for israel's needs. (fan fact: the pre-first prototype(og' 1973) had a patton turret(or magach) because the real turret wasnt ready)
@@nerya9557 "a lot of parts in the merkava(cannon for example) is an american parts" Except it wasn't. the 105mm gun it used were already a familiar gun in IDF because they already locally-producing the L7 105mm for other use in Magach and Sho't Kal as "Sharir gun", and they just happen to get the technological access to the M68 breech design for more compact tank gun. The internal component, including its electrical component that drive the turret is derived from them studying the the Centurion instead of American design. What the Merkava has so far was a direct lineage from "the tank that saved Israel from its annihilation" Sho't Kal instead of from the "Charred Body Carrier" Magach or American tank design in general. Even the gun mantlet-mounted "coaxial" .50cal MG was inherited from Sho't Kal (where if the NVD is not mounted, the mounting slot instead was used to mount the MG) This g*yj*w snail only did it to bloat the US tech tree with vehicles that made them as overpowered as the Russian while they "spit on the British tech tree player" for shits and giggles LMAO, all with the effort to milk the gullible american playerbase jsut like how they milk CommieChina playerbase with the copy-paste branch-i mean the Chinese tech tree.

@@xdas11 yep, that’s exactly what I thought as well, also there were these missiles that your could launch from the tanks that also remind the Israeli spike missile
Tankers told me the merkava back space was never meant to carry troops because it's just too small. What it can do is become a temporary ambulance. The ammunition from the back is discarded and the tank can carry a single injured person on a stretcher + a medic. Also the mg251 120mm smoothbore waw intended to make the RH120 lighter by making the barrel walls thinner and giving it a better composite thermal sleeve that would be also better for extremely hot weather.
there is a variant of the merkava which is called the "Namer" ( נמ"ר in hebrew meaning tiger ) which is basically just the chassis without the gun which is made as a personnel carrier. the "Namer" has 3 main variants: "Namer APC" (נמ"ר נגמ"ש - the basic one but with a turret like any other APC's). "Namer combat" (נמ"ר לחימה - which is a APC with turret carrying a 30mm automatic gun on it. which I would personally love to see in the game) and a combat engineering variant called "Namera" (נמר"ה - like a female tiger). there is also a "Namer-bulance" i dont need to explain that one. it just has a silly name

I like the mk3 that doesn't have the extra side armor on the turret. Hope WT won't skip it and put it in the future somehow
Merkava3 BAZ is my favorite
Finally my lovely MBT.
I hope this is a sign for Merkava Mk.4
I'm Israeli and I really appreciate the research on this video.
I saw a MK4 in real life and it is by far my favourite, hope your working on getting it in the game. the only complaint I have is that the name "Merkava" is pronounced as it sounds and not like "Merchava",
The stress on the last syllable is correct though (got me a little off guard ngl). Love from Israel!!

My co-worker was an IDF mechanic on the Sho't Kal and Mk1 Merkava, lots of cool stories, nice to see you guys finally doing this.
Im a gunner in a "merkava mk4 400" in the idf, it is much better then mk3, has battle controll systems (like mini map with enemys irl but even better ) and an active missile protection system named "wind coat"
Wind Breaker :)
Or as we in the west call it "Trophy"
I actually was invited INSIDE a merkava 4 when i visited israel, quite an experience to say the least
I will be in Leo2a6:)
I live in israel and i have never invited inside a merkava 4 :(

Can also resist suicide bombers, rockets, rpg's, fire kites and loser ideology. Can destroy invading armies incompetent armor. Most probably killed more terrorist then any other tank.

I saw Merkavas in action back in 2014 in a IDF show in the Golan Heights, is one of my favourite memories seeing those chariots firing all their weapons at once followed by mechanized infantry and a pair of artillery pieces

This is the only tank outside the Soviet tech tree that I play
Saw all of the merkavas, love their thickness.
Love the merkava.3B ingame its pretty awesome :)
merkava in game not have a chain :(
The fact that the frontal armor is not that thick
The merkava has a sci-fi feel to it and how it prioritizes the survivability of the crew a priority
This is why i love the merkava
Actually the driver sit beside the engine and the frontal armor is pretty ez to get penned and you can easily triggered the ammorack if you shoot at the back of the tank

There's a Mk.1 or Mk.2 in the German Tank Museum in Munster.
I really like the design that puts the safety of it's crew above everything else. :)
Exclusively targeting Merkava Mk4s in my Strv 122s is a very fun pass time.
Served on the Merkava 2B and 2D variants, as well as having a look-around the mk.3 and 4 variants.
I’m actually a driver of the merkava mk. 4! It is so cool to see our tanks in War Thunder, they’re so detailed!!!
I just remember during my armor ID course while training to be a TOW missileman the merkava series had a super distinct look. I loved it because it was always very easy to identify and list it's unique features during tests.
In which army?
I have a feeling we're about to see the Merkava 4 in the game
Probably not because most of the info on this tank is secret and it’s have a lot of features that are not in game
That didn't stop them from adding the M1A2, 2A6 and T-80U now, did it?
I remember seeing one at a bus stop in front of a base i worked at. They were bigger and wider than i expected
Love these tanks, to bad they are expensive to get your hands on one
I'm serving in the idf. and my base in the south is a training base so I see a lot of the merkava mark4 in active it's really powerful tank
What cool vehicles...if only they all weren’t event vehicles
Fun fact: half of comments served in merkava mk 4
So we will see the merkava 4 in this year?
*knock knock* Mossad! OPEN UP!
mk4 has aps so i doubt it
“Have you seen any Merkavas with you own eyes?”
Yeah, I was stuck for 30m behind two of them on freeway 90 at 10PM.
And there’s an awesome tank museum near my house that also houses the last Panzer 4 used in battle
Well I have serviced in the IDF and saw ALOT of merkava action! Even been inside a mk3
I love this tank. I found it in a toy store. As a "Construct plastic tank from scratch" kit and I love this tank since then
well, i am an ex IDF infantry and had the luxury to train next to these work horses (merkava mk.4) and feel the ground shake under my feet as they drove next to me and feel the air leave my body when they fired close to me, and i had the luxury to be in one
I saw all of the merkava’s in Israel tank museum.
went there few times with my grandpa because he was a solider in the armed forces of Israel and he used the magach and the shot kal
What a timing for a recommendation huh
Nice to release this video during the massive conflict going on over there.
Hoping that Gaijin adds the ball/chain rear armor to the Merkava like another game did right. I was hoping to see the Merkava IID in the game too.
What game?
not mentioned,
latest version of Merkava is Mark IV (2003)
latest variant is Windbreaker (Mark IVm) circa 2014 and still going thru some updates.
My teacher fought in the Yom kippur war.
My brother is the commander of merkava Mark 4
Oop, straight away we can tell which side of the six day war gaijin supports

Based gaijin
The Merkavas on display at Latrun are amazing. Also I personally hope/dread Gaijin adding more Merkavas to the game, especially in the US tree.
War thunder : Merkava is good
Lebanese soldier: lemme show him a little trick I learnt xD
to be honest i never heard of the Merkava tanks before they appeared in War thunder, and when i first saw the Mk3 variant, it kind of reminded me of the Scorpion tank from Halo 3.
Thing is, I've found the mk.2 turret to bounce more apfsds shots than the mk.3 lol
Check out the mk4 turret, looks like a UFO lol
You should see the Mk.4! Best tank in the world, over 20,000 ATGMs fired at it in Gaza and Lebanon, only 6 ever destroyed.

I remember that the Merkava had APS protection. I also remember the Soviet T-90A have ARENA APS protection too.
Merkava did had APS protection, but it was only installed on the newest Merkava variant
And no, T-90A does not have Arena APS.... at least as of right now
@@Kalashnikov413 Thank you.
I saw it at the tank museum Munster in Germany ,one of the Guides told me that you ( Gaijin ) were coming soon to collect data and I was there before it was added to the game. So I guess you where in Munster to complete the model or somthing.
I saw the early Merkava tanks in action in june 1982, during "Peace for Galilei". I was based in the south of Lebanon with UNIFIL then.
@Pommy Pie Dutch
Merkava mk4 confirmed 🥺
I stood in front of one at the German Tank Museum in northern Germany. It’s an absolute beast!
Merkava Mk4 is definitely on my to buy list if it releases.
I saw the original Merkava in museum
Now I wonder if Czechoslovakia or Czech republic tried making it's own tank.
shit's gonna be filled to the brim with vodka and beer
@@nerya9557 "a lot of parts in the merkava(cannon for example) is an american parts"
Except it wasn't. the 105mm gun it used were already a familiar gun in IDF because they already locally-producing the L7 105mm for other use in Magach and Sho't Kal as "Sharir gun", and they just happen to get the technological access to the M68 breech design for more compact tank gun.
Even the gun mantlet-mounted "coaxial" .50cal MG was inherited from Sho't Kal (where if the NVD is not mounted, the mounting slot instead was used to mount the MG)
This g*yj*w snail only did it to bloat the US tech tree with vehicles that made them as overpowered as the Russian while they "spit on the British tech tree player" for shits and giggles LMAO, all with the effort to milk the gullible american playerbase jsut like how they milk CommieChina playerbase with the copy-paste branch-i mean the Chinese tech tree.
Q: will you ever make it possible to test drive/test fly any vehicle regardless of how close you are to unlocking it
NO
because.... gaijin need money
When you think about it, Merkava is basically a Heavy AFV.
Engine in front, troops in back, turret slightly towards back, etc.
Ahh ... so this was the "ground-breaking" hint
what?
@@Kalashnikov413 Israel is gonna be a playable country

Israel could (and probably should) be their own nation. Merkava being in the US tech tree just doesn’t make sense
Good luck with getting a full tree.
I’d wanna see that too but most of the tech trees have ww2 aircraft and tanks however Idk how Israel would do that.
Makes perfect sense, since US funds them, Israel pretty much owned by US, and maybe Britain
I have seen one with my own eyse in the german tank museum in Munster ( Merkava Mk.1)
Saw a mk1 in Saumur tank museum, was not expecting that
I JUST SAW 4 OF THESE BAD BOYS ON THE HIGHWAY
my brother is currently serving in the IDF as a tank Driver in the markava mk 4, btw please add the merkava mk 4, it can be a great addition to the game and the "Trophy" system on the tank can be very cool in game as well
Last April fool's event had active protection system on all tanks so it's probably in final testing so maybe it will be a thing in half year
@@xdas11 yep, that’s exactly what I thought as well, also there were these missiles that your could launch from the tanks that also remind the Israeli spike missile
I was a tank driver in the merkava mark 4
Epic!
there is a variant of the merkava which is called the "Namer" ( נמ"ר in hebrew meaning tiger ) which is basically just the chassis without the gun which is made as a personnel carrier. the "Namer" has 3 main variants: "Namer APC" (נמ"ר נגמ"ש - the basic one but with a turret like any other APC's).
Leperd not tiger
Tiger = טיגריס
Leperd = נמר
Its not that hard
