- The achievements of the Italian tank industry were overshadowed by the successes of foreign powers, during most of the XXth century. Italian tanks, created by engineers at FIAT at the end of WW1, never entered large-scale production - and even though, in WW2, the Royal Italian Army relied on their own M13 and M14 tanks, they weren’t as impressive as their foreign counterparts, due to a lack of resources and limited production capabilities of the Italian tank industry.

In all seriousness, the Italian tech tree is very fun to plan but really needs some love at top tier, might I suggest Dardo IFVs or a further upgraded Ariete?
till i know there are no more Ariete upgrades that is why is almost imposible to add more for Italy, maybe some other vehicules yes but they cant invent an upgrade for them. i dont think that would be apropiate

they could add the dardo IFV, Freccia IFV, Centauro II or the Draco rather than an upgraded Ariete which doesn't exist yet
Yes, it would be a great idea considering that Italian army is upgrading the C1 Ariete and maybe in the future Dardo Ifv too even if excluding the upgrade of Dardo gaijin could add it to the game... 🤞🤞 Then they could also add other variants of Centauro such as Draco or wheeled IFVs such as Freccia or the Iveco superAV in an update which gives wheeled IFVs to all countries (almost all of them have ones)
And also it might be the fact that the Ariete armor is completely inaccurate.. I mean so is for the other western MBTs but at least they have still armor
The ariete should have more composite and NERA armor on both LFP and UFP, the turret has a literal hole that they put as “spaced armor” but there should be steel or ceramic there not nothing

The king declared the armistice and Mussolini was arrested, then he was liberated by a joined operation and italy was split into the allied territory and ISR (italian social Republic) with the germans and Mussolini.
They still kind of got the "loser" treatment, just in a Beta version.
Although they didn't have to endure foreign occupation, they had to give/return a lot of previsously owned land and colonies and of course, war reparations had to be payed

Hello past me, I'm from the future.
We got the dardo
I am an Italian main in-game. I am in love with their anti-air and TD line and even their MBT line is perfect for my playstyle. Survivor ability is definitely an issue but firepower/mobility/spotting capabilities are still excellent. They are almost as good as Germans.

Italy always was always ahead in terms of light vehicles since our terrain is more suitable for IFV than MBTs

Little correction Bruce, the new Ariete being worked on won’t have ERA, but will have many new tweaks and improvements that will allow it to close the gap, such as APS, new Thermals and improved armour.
No, the armor won't change, the new Ariete will have a more powerful engine, a re-engineered transmission and larger tracks, +new thermals and optics.. That's all

@@Iskads No ERA, at least for now. But yes a very major upgrade indeed. It’s supposed to extend its lifespan enough so Italy can have the next generation MBT by the time it’s completely obsolete.

The Italian tanks had the P40s and Semoventes that were feared. The Italians has American tanks after WW2 that were modified. Then the OF-40s came along. Love those things.

Italy is still missing a lot of vehicles for both ground forces, naval and the air force tech trees, or existing vehicles don't have full combat capabilities, like the SIDAM not having NVS, or the M42 Contrareo not being beltfed or the italian 47mms not having HEAT/HESH available.
At least for ground forces things like the VBM Freccia or the Dardo IFV are missing, armored gun trucks could be added as well along more AA platforms (R3 needs to be moved)
Also the Naval techtree is just filled with more of the same ships over and over, the Coastal Tree doesn't even have OTO-Melara autocannons except for the Sparviero, you'd expect italy to have plenty of 127mm Vulcano or 76mm Super Rapido, but no, the same patrol ship with 40mm bofors over and over, at least the top tier has Nettunos.
And a Rate of Fire buff to the Breda-SAFATs would be welcome, the US M2HB already fires at an unrealistic fire rate of 1000rpm, irl it only went up to 600, might as well buff others.

EP M42 and EPS M42 are italian developed versions of both HEAT and HESH, the hesh thing is a little different, I still have to find italian documentation on the HESH thing but I've heard and read everyone compare it to traditional HESH
And yes, the 47/32 47mm 1935 guns could use either, the 100mm pen HEAT would help a lot, sweden gets post war bullshit APDS, why can't italy use stuff that was in service?

Fun fact (if i'm not wrong): italy poland and Spain have made a team for build a new mbt.
As someone that has played Italy for a good while (still haven't reached high ranks tho) i have to say the air and the tanks are amazing if you know how to play them. Most tanks are fast and teach you how to flank the enemy and also can count on a high firepower. Italy surely is hard to master, especially if you're new to the game but trust me when I say to you that they're way funnier to play than most mainstream nations

The proposed upgrade is also involving combining both the PSO Tipo II and WAR add-on composite kits, and outfitting it with a more powerful engine to make it more than a 64-ton paperweight. This upgrade (from my knowledge) is planned to enter service in 2025.

I would absolutely LOVE if they added italian IFVs like the dardo/ freccia. Sure spike missiles are very strong, but just make direct fire without the fancy fire and forget
I'm still researching the Centauro ROMOR for my 9.0 lineup, but after that it's on to the Preserie, so I'll finally have my first top-tier MBT. I really love Italian vehicles, and I've done a ton of research on them since deciding to "main" Italy in War Thunder.
Speaking of the M47, the one in the Italian tech tree is actually the Spanish M47E2 using an Italian gun, not the actual M47 tanks produced by Italy. You can tell by the track armor, only the Spanish had the ones with sharp angles, whereas the Italians kept the curved ones like on the original M47 and M60. Not like I ever expect Gaijin to correct that mistake, as Italy has been put on the back burner for a long time, just thought I'd point it out once again.

@@nicho3051 Pictures of the M47s produced by Italy (that's the key here) are few and far between, but they are not the tank currently in their tech tree. Look up the Spanish M47E2, a native variant not used anywhere else, and it matches the one we have perfectly.
I've had very lengthy discussions about this on the game's forums with some very knowledgeable people, the ones who showed me the sources for the Italian M47s, not just the ones they initially got from the US or those built by other countries using their 105mm gun.
@@ODST_Parker I have a whole section of pictures dedicated to Italian M47’s, I can guarantee to you none of them were Spanish. They might look similar but the M47’s were Italian.

Ariete is honestly way underrated, it's probably the MBT I perform best in and the turret traverse really helps you getting out of trouble or sending a shot downrange just a tad quicker than your opponent
Overall the Italian Tech Tree is pretty fun to play although they are lacking some in Vehicles and their ridiculous repair costs makes it somewhat ignored, especially their Rank IV Italian Fighters.Can Italy get some love?Lower the Repair Costs and that's just the thing I need for Italy.

Anyways, yes guys you should think about improving a bit the italian top tier, because nowadays we are so obsolete and badly equipped even if you confront us with america, or germany, or england... we are making some serious spaghetti things now.

If you kind folks at Gaijin would, please add the VCC 80 Dardo IFV to Italy. It'd be an excellent addition to their roster, in keeping with their fast and punchy play style, while providing them further options at top-tier as well.
Italy made a concept of the c2 ariete, never gone to production, it would be cool to have a new 10.7 italian MBT for the next major update, you can also add the AIF freccia equipped with 2 atgms to counter small millimeter light tanks, and as wargaming did the heavy italian tech tree

This year the first prototype of Ariete AMV will be presented to the army. The mid life upgrade should make the Ariete enough capable for the next 10 years then we will throw it away.
Well not really, they will just put in place the upgrades that were supposed to come about in 2002.
If it was 2002, we could say that it will make the tank capable for the next 10 years, but seeing that it is 2021, we say that it will be less obsolete

As someone who grinded italy as their first TT back when the best tanks were the 2A5 and long before Russian tank smap i was expecting a tank that had the least ammount of armor but the most powerfull shell in the game but once i got into top tier a year has passed and something like the 2A6 started to exist with DM53 making the only reason to grind italy get thrown into the garbage. It would be nice for italy to get something else than another ariete they are by far the worst tanks in the game right now after most other nations mbt's got thier high pen ammo added. There is no point of playing a glass cannon now when other nations glass cannons have accual protection and good optics
Add: Dardo, Freccia, b2 centauro, ariete with the new next update, m60, Oto C 13, first prototype of the p40, semovente 149/90

Enhance the penetration of the Italian 75mm APs that makes it worth seeing level 3.3 tanks penetrate only 79 mm of armor, when the minimum thickness of armor and 80 mm lateral or front of any wagon. Above all note that M4 has 91 mm of penetration with a speed of 500 m/s and instead the Italian urination is 79 mm of penetration with 630 m/s of speed. the Chi-Nu has 103 drilling with its 75mm gun (which is the same in length as the Italian one) with a speed of 668 m/s!!!! So at least the Italian 75mm must have 90mm of drilling. and don't say it has HEAT that pierces 100 mm that hurt like ammunition.
I like using Italian MBTs from a distance, because the armor is subpar. Thought its hard to do that on most maps... because they aren't big enough.

The highest B.R italian vehicle I have at all, is the 2 Fiat armored cars, 6614 and Aubl, and well they are good, but I am just trying to on and off progress further

Why all vehicles look like from gta3 in spectate mode and sometimes while playing them, but.... This update solved a lot crashes and increased my FPS! And now I can finally play at Low settings, thanks so much dev team!

Also, when are ground vehicles gonna get Ballistic computer? It won't be too reliable due to terrain, forests, buildings and what not... even fog has a chance of disrupting the computer for a tank.... Just wondering if we ever are gonna see this type of tech for ground vehicles in general
Italian MBTs in wt were good because they could pen anything, but now russian MBTs eat rounds a German tank with a 70% win rate was basically upgraded with a higher penning round and that tank the leo 2a6 has more armor nice going gaijin

For top speed sure, but the ariete's are quite sluggish in game. I love them but they have no "get up and go"

0:40 the P26/40 was not promising at all. It had no hull escape hatches for the driver and assistant driver, inadequate and obsolete leaf spring suspensions, obsolete armor configuration. Furthermore, according to the italian designation, it was designated as a heavy tank even though it weighed only 26 tanks when a true medium tank like the sherman weighed around 30 tons
To summarize: too little too late
It is old italian tank classification mistake - all they tanks is light if we use, for example, russian/soviet classification. Italians firstly design tanks to fight in mountains :/

Italy is my favourite tank line, And I have the complete tech tree and good 90% is spades, I adore the Ariete and centauros, But Italy is lacking one HUGE thing every nation has in game, A propper autocannon IFV! Like the Dardo, US has like 3 or 4 variations of the Bradley, USSR has 4 BMP's Germany has the Begel, China has bmps too, Japan has far out the best of them all, The Type 89, Britain has the Warrior and a adats/Bradley Sweden and their auto cannons.......Where's our Italian ones? Or French ones, PLEASE add them D:
