It wasnt meant to be fired directly over the front. Remember the overlapping fields of fire with the .50 Cal...The loaders M240's Sector was from Front right fender to left rear. the .50 Cal was from Front Left fender to Back right. Also the .50 Cal was used for Aviation take down.

Earl Abrams funny that you mention that, because during desert storm we tried destroying an abrams with a Hellfire missile from an apache. It ignited the ammo, but due to the blow-out doors, the ammunition just exploded upwards, as designed, and left the rest of the tank capable. We shot sabots at it to no avail. eventually the engineer assets just did the heavy work and recovered the tank. All they had to do was clean the inside, replace the ammo rack and blow out panels, and the tank was back in action within a couple weeks. amazing story, a true one. If they made the Abrams realistic to the real world, it would A) never be destroyed and B) would destroy everything it sees before it's detected.
My dad actually fought in the Abrams as a loader in Afghanistan a couple years ago. He said that in one of the battles the tank caught fire and the crew had to extinguish it while under heavy fire. Also petty sure the tanks ammo exploded but was shot out the back. He's very thankful to be alive. He also got to fire the main gun a couple times.
If the halon bottles didnt go off in the tank then there is an issue. only time we had to use manual fire extinguishers is if the halon fire suppression system didnt extinguish the fire fully.Thank goodness the Blowout panels worked since the crew survived the explosion. Your dad mustve been a marine. Army never sent tanks to Afghanistan. We were deployed to Iraq and I did 4 deployments in Iraq including the push to baghdad.
@@CCM1199 Yes my dad was a captain in the marines and was deployed in Afghanistan. He was on the ground calling in airstrikes but was an f-18a pilot for most of his time in service. If you have any question i'de have to ask him, that's all I know.
Also I think he said the ammo exploded, but not 100% sure. He did say that he had to fight a fire manually while being shot at. He wasn't always in an Abrams while in Afghanistan, only during certain times. Forgive me if I use any incorrect terms, I'm not an expert on this stuff. He was in charge of 19 other men and I think was fighting alongside the Georgians. He is one of the only men there at the time to bring home all his men alive, and I'm pretty sure he recieved a metal for it. I'de have to ask him though.

I asked and confirmed that he was the loader and not the commander because the commander in his tank was also the commander of all the tanks and was directing everyone, which my dad didnt know how to do. And my dad was a forward air controller so they were just giving him a position in the tank. He couldnt be gunner because he had never gone to tank school. When he originally joined the marines he was inlisted but eventually went to college and became an officer, giving him the opportunity to fly f18s. He had to go through flight school and was sent to a base in Iwakuni Japan in a squadrin called the bats where they had f18s. When we moved back to the States he was no longer a pilot and thats when he was deployed to Afghanistan. Eventually he was given another opportunity to fly f18s and he went to a retraining school or something like that in California and then back to Japan. He retired out of Japan
Patrik Ravolainen the M1A2 in game has lower armor values than the export model that was given to Sweden for testing. The rest are not “export models” as this person claims, but do have a number of issues regarding armor & models (as do basically all other top tier tanks)
I have been on the M1 Abrams series tank since 1997. M1 with 105MM to the M1A1SA and M1A2 SEPv1 and V2. If the M1A2 is in the game hopefully it has the designator feature. Plus the Ammo capacity of the M1A2 is 42 Main gun rounds. the Special Heat round he was talking about is the MPAT round. Multipurpose Anti tank round....Designed specifically not only to destroy light armor but Aviation as well...all the loader had to do was toggle to tip of the round from Air to ground. the XM908 (later designated M908) is the Bunker Buster (OR = Obscuration Reducing) round. I cannot wait to grind to the thank I rode for many years. BTW, the 120mm smooth bore is the German Rheinmetal M256 gun used on the Leopard 2 Tanks
Mr Turner That is more believable. The depleted uranium armor is the same except the remove a whole chunk and add in a plate of DU. Since the original armor was 400ke. I’d say max is 650ke. Doesn’t make sense to go above. Gen 2 might improve it but not a lot. Gen 3 is the same but it has higher armor integrity.

There are 4 t72 variations and 2 t80 variations in the game but you can’t add any new Abrams? Basically all the Soviet mbts have reactive armor but the American up armored m1 isn’t in the game. Please add the M1A1 tusk and M1A2c (sep v3).

Gaijin if you want the M1 and M1IP to stay at 10.0. You should remove the M735 and make the M773 the stock shell and M833 or M900 as the upgradable ammo. M735 was long decomissioned before the M1 Abrams rolled off the production line and it never used the M735 and btw M1IP used M833 APFSDS Round during the Gulf War.

You know they will not give the m1 m833 or remove it. They want the m1 to be a block that you have to pay through to get to the m1a1 and m1a2. There is a reason we did not get the HA mod for the m1a1, why unlock a module when they can force people in to skipping into the m1a2.

I have only just finished Germany ground forces that took me half a year with premium, by the time I have got everything in the game they will have added modern tanks and helicopters and jets

it's funny because they wont buff abrams armor, irl the only thing u can knock this tank when facing the front is the lucky shot from turret ring, and disable the cannon, there's no way you are getting throughthe lower hull
The M1 has been able to pen Soviet tanks from 2000m away anywhere due to the fact they kept getting better rounds before russian armor could over come the M829 APFSDS DU round variant they were using at the time. They have the M829 A4 now but not much is known about it though considering it's secretive nature. If only the they could model the M1A2 armor accurately but sadly it's classified stuff so they can't.
John Phillips M829 is okay. M829a1 was really good cause that time, they were facing t72 and it had no problem penning. M829a3 is designed to defeat Russian Kontact era while keeping good penetration, it’s pretty slow at 1550 m/s. M829a4 is the same thing with a tiny change that doesn’t effect the round performance.

please put the xm-1 at 9.3, its too much if it faces a lineup consisting of 8.0-7.7, i know it normally would not face 7.7, but if you have a french line up that you cant have a full 8.0 and like me use amx30 (7.7) + amx50 (8.0) the xm-1 will always destroy people with similar linups, but if you would put in in 9.3 it would be much more balanced, because at 9.0 it can face a lot of targets that have a little chance of getting a good hit, but the xm1 just needs to hit anywhere in the front and well you are dead... i have seen so many people(including me) just leaving battles when they have 8.0 or smaller facing a xm1, but moving it to 9.3 would fix all those problems, im sure the xm1 will preform good at 9.3-10.3 battles
I hate to burst your bubble but the performance of both XM-1 tanks in top tier were already tested and proven that the tanks wouldn't have a survival rate like the m1/m1a1/m1a2 so pretty much it's gonna stay where it is albeit unknowingly.
Oh god... a CROWs mounted M1A2SEPv2? Ill pass on that...They need to add the TIS to the Tanks. All I saw was a FLIR system and thats incorrect especially to someone who has been on the M1 Series Tanks forever and a day. They need to get the ammo correct as well. M829A2 and M829A3 are the standard rounds for Sabot, M830A1 is HEAT, M908 is the OR round and M1028 is the Canister round (wont be in game unless there are dismounts implemented).

As much as I enjoy these videos, it's a little sad to see them only talking about the vehicles we currently have, or have had confirmed are coming to the game. I love war machines and the history behind their designs, but I kind of feel cheated when they leave gaps in the story, while being bang on the money elsewhere. Here, the early part about the prototypes was very well done, and for the most part, everything else was well explained and not much was left out up until the M1A1. There was a lot of further development on the M1A1, new tech, new armour standards, and many more upgrades that came before the M1A2, yet all was forgotten here in this video because we have the the next step up.
Billder Thats even less though. The only upgrade is more armor. I honestly don’t know anything different. In real life, there’s a bunch of changes but it doesn’t apply to war thunder.

Jakob Abrahamson no you won’t, it’s a great tank and I love it. Have almost 700 kills and 150 deaths in the thing. For the first M1 though, be sure to use your speed and flank em since your gun is pretty weak but if you’re decent enough with aiming you can kill tanks from the front easily.

it's funny because they wont buff abrams armor, irl the only thing u can knock this tank when facing the front is the lucky shot from turret ring, and disable the cannon, there's no way you are getting throughthe lower hull

The M1 has been able to pen Soviet tanks from 2000m away anywhere due to the fact they kept getting better rounds before russian armor could over come the M829 APFSDS DU round variant they were using at the time. They have the M829 A4 now but not much is known about it though considering it's secretive nature. If only the they could model the M1A2 armor accurately but sadly it's classified stuff so they can't.
John Phillips M829 is okay. M829a1 was really good cause that time, they were facing t72 and it had no problem penning. M829a3 is designed to defeat Russian Kontact era while keeping good penetration, it’s pretty slow at 1550 m/s. M829a4 is the same thing with a tiny change that doesn’t effect the round performance.

They answered that on the Recent Live stream ...Historic Map Battle will only be events . and I doubt you will see anymore player then what we have now. Heck you have a 50/50 shot of surviving matches now cause people play like it is WoT.

M1 abrams have the t34 problem of looking all the same but not really the same.
There's also always 3 more Abrams tanks around the corner when you kill one,just like with T-34. (At least in War Thunder)

please put the xm-1 at 9.3, its too much if it faces a lineup consisting of 8.0-7.7, i know it normally would not face 7.7, but if you have a french line up that you cant have a full 8.0 and like me use amx30 (7.7) + amx50 (8.0) the xm-1 will always destroy people with similar linups, but if you would put in in 9.3 it would be much more balanced, because at 9.0 it can face a lot of targets that have a little chance of getting a good hit, but the xm1 just needs to hit anywhere in the front and well you are dead... i have seen so many people(including me) just leaving battles when they have 8.0 or smaller facing a xm1, but moving it to 9.3 would fix all those problems, im sure the xm1 will preform good at 9.3-10.3 battles
I hate to burst your bubble but the performance of both XM-1 tanks in top tier were already tested and proven that the tanks wouldn't have a survival rate like the m1/m1a1/m1a2 so pretty much it's gonna stay where it is albeit unknowingly.

Oh god... a CROWs mounted M1A2SEPv2? Ill pass on that...They need to add the TIS to the Tanks. All I saw was a FLIR system and thats incorrect especially to someone who has been on the M1 Series Tanks forever and a day. They need to get the ammo correct as well. M829A2 and M829A3 are the standard rounds for Sabot, M830A1 is HEAT, M908 is the OR round and M1028 is the Canister round (wont be in game unless there are dismounts implemented).

As much as I enjoy these videos, it's a little sad to see them only talking about the vehicles we currently have, or have had confirmed are coming to the game. I love war machines and the history behind their designs, but I kind of feel cheated when they leave gaps in the story, while being bang on the money elsewhere.
Here, the early part about the prototypes was very well done, and for the most part, everything else was well explained and not much was left out up until the M1A1. There was a lot of further development on the M1A1, new tech, new armour standards, and many more upgrades that came before the M1A2, yet all was forgotten here in this video because we have the the next step up.
Billder M1a1 was an m1ip with bigger gun and fcs. Armor stays the same.

Please update the singleplayer missions for every vehicle with their historical match up ingame please for tanks , ships and Helicopters and new avaition vehicles that came this year .

IRL that weakspot is irrelevant. Too small of a target to hit, and most of the bounce shots that happen from APFSDS shouldn't even happen as dart rounds are practically almost completely destroyed from deflecting off armor.

M774 is quite useless in current version of the game. Why not M833 for every 105mm abrams tanks?(not for XM-1, though)
The first online game that most accurately simulates the specifications and specifications of each tank, and it describes very carefully the M1 Abrams. And this game is developed by the Russians, it seems that the Russians understand the specifications of American weapons and military vehicles better than the Americans?!

I love low ranks doe... And britain has the easiest airplane tech tree u need to research like for rank 1 planes or 3 to get to rank 2. Other tech tree's require 6 i think

Jakob Abrahamson no you won’t, it’s a great tank and I love it. Have almost 700 kills and 150 deaths in the thing. For the first M1 though, be sure to use your speed and flank em since your gun is pretty weak but if you’re decent enough with aiming you can kill tanks from the front easily.
