    My jaw dropped when I saw emissive surfaces can "finally" cast light onto surfaces, in EEVEE Next, cant wait for the full build !

    This is huge, I'm always tired of having 7 fps in cycles viewport

      Well then lets hope that Eevees shader compilation gets faster then, because as it is now Cycles is WAY faster to work with when doing shaders.

      Actually the more geomety your scene has the faster cycels gets compared to eevee

      get one of the forks or commercial alternatives to cycles. also, consider investing in some beefier hardware.

    This is very nice across the board, but i hope the EEVEE Next rendering tab doesnt lose the Bloom section.

    Amazing! No doubt Cycles is still king for realism (as far as Blender's built in renderers go), but one thing I love about Eevee, is there is no noise across frames which it makes it great for animation. Especially more cartoony animation that doesn't need total realism. Super excited to give Eevee Next a try!

    Soft shadows in eevee next is so good, no more flickering!

    It was because of EEVEE that I looked into Blender and then never looked back. Look forward to trying EEVEE next.

      if they get back the "select through", a propper unwrapper and a good performance in poly edit mode, they may become a good alternative yes

    The folks at True-VFX have released a TH-cam-video titled "The reason we don't support Eevee", describing a number of issues with large-scale environments. If that could be fixed, I would be happy.
    Likewise, if multithreading support could be better supported in setup of scenes and other things that can actually take a lot of time when your project gets heavy, and also the buffer space for procedural shaders could grow larger so you could throw them on things in the background without worry, I would be thankful.

    Basically and the way i see it, ENext is a slightly capped version of cycles for real time. That is beautiful. Sure current Cycles still obliterate any renderer Blender ever had, but this is a BIG step forward

    Correction, EEVEE Next was available in the alpha versions for i think nearly a year. I don't know how people are only finding out about this.

    4:45 that's kinda misrepresentative tbh. You're comparing reflective metal surfaces in EEVEE next with SSR enabled, to EEVEE with SSR specifically toggled off

    a question to ask is that some features such as hair thickness in the new hair system and displacement maps don't work when using the current iteration of EEVEE. is it possible that these features would be supported in EEVEE Next?
    I want to use EEVEE as a lookdev view and render with cycles but given the current limitation on EEVEE that's not possible.

      Eevee next has parallax occlusion mapping which yields similar results to displacement in cycles. It’s just a fakery of real displacement but it looks good and it’s fast to render.

    Why does an object with a white material assigned appear gray in Eevee Next? In normal Eevee and Cycles everything is fine.

    This is promising. If Epic Games starts charging the subscription for Unreal Engine for filmmaking, this will be a great alternative for realtime raytracing graphics.

    Nearly all you have shown in Eevee next here is perfectly possible with current Eevee if you just add some probes. In fact adding a probe near the camera can improve the look of next too (since it can supply the missing information of screen space GI).

    EEVEE Next is looking good so far! But I do hope, if they replace EEVEE with Next, theres still options to use the non RT effects like SSR, SSAO and CSM/Non-RT shadows, as Next's RT is quite grainy and noisy, as one would expect.
    perhaps it would be better to sort tabs into "Shadows", "Reflections" "Ambient Occlusion" and "Indirect lighting" with options to turn on the RT or non-RT versions for each

    Blender is always a great software, it can do everything which other commercial softwares can. I just want improvement in Cycle and Eevee render engines.
    I want eevee to be like Lumen and Cycle like arnold.

      There's the Glare node in the compositor, and you can enable realtime compositing, so practically you already have it? lol

    v4.1a, I can't get EEVEE Next to work with glass shader, objects appear black, also the new Principled BSDF Transmission does the same thing. Checkbox "screen space refraction" is checked and the object material settings are set to Blend Mode = "alpha blend" and Shadow Mode = "alpha hashed". I know it's an Alpha but doesn't transparency work?

    Does Evee next work with HDRIs? I remember a few months ago I tested the SSGI addon. It was nice, but it only worked for lights in the viewport, not HDRIs. That's why I stopped using it. Would be so nice if HDRIs work now with SSGI in Eevee Next!

      This is from the Task for EEVEE NEXT,
      High Light count support: Lights are now efficiently culled and there is virtually no limits to the maximum number of lights in a scene.

    It’s cool , but tbh I would prefer them to develop more advanced and realistic render engine to replace cycles. It’s alright but it fades in comparison to other industry standard render engine
