I once had a 35 Chevrolet sedan body that had the roof totally jumped on and caved in. I took a floor jack with a 4 x 4 and a 16“ x 36“ piece of half-inch plywood up against the roof and slowly jacked it all up. It was amazing how easily it all popped back out. if you’re careful, yours should easily pop out real nice with a few taps along the crease. Without even hurting the paint. Try it when you get the seat out. Pull down that headliner and try it. Good luck. Smitty.
Dan this time you found the DIMOND not in the rough. So glad someone with your love of tri fives has it. I know you want to keep it as original as you can, so take your time and think over every change you have to make. You will do right by this car.
The love your showing for this car is fantastic. In 1973 my ex-wife and I were able to purchase a ‘56 Nomad in about the same condition yours is in. Watching you today brought back the excitement I felt. I kept that car for 17 years taking it from pillar to post and back again. When I finally sold it a part of my heart went with it too. In the end it landed with a guy I knew would take care of it and keep it nice.
Kinda bizarre that it's light blue with a white roof, a brown dash and gold seats. Then it has nearly every option and trim piece, accept A/C and it has a manual w/ an OD. Then the guy took a later 307? Put 283 power pack heads on it and made is super quiet. Not knocking it, very cool, shane you got ripped on it so hard after it was a giveaway from some old lady, at keast it ended uo in hands that appreciate it. Hello ; If you take your time the solenoid apart and clean the contacts it should work . That 8 track might be a 4 track player which was before the 8 track.
Its ridiculous how much I enjoyed watching you guys go through the treasure. Nothing like doing the junk- archeology on a new score! Something you just can't explain unless you already love it. Congrats on the joy.
Dan.....You just fulfilled every car guys dream. You deserve to find and own a classic Nomad like this, Just do right by the car and you will always be in love with this car, It is always going to be a keeper. Many memorys will be made in this car.
Easy way to tell if it's an original 1955, 265 is to look down and see if it has a standard spin on oil filter. It it doesn't have an oil filter, it's a '55. If it was ordered with the oil filter option, it's a remote canister filter that hangs off the side like the old Stovebolt I6's. 1956 they cast in the oil filter boss on the SBC and it stayed there for ever after that. Great Find Man! and it's in good hands for sure!
It has a spin on filter you could see when he was messing around underneath with the starter. Definitely a later block, and has some corporate GM blue on the block too. Might be a 305 with the powerpack heads bolted onto it...but we won't know til Dan runs the numbers on it. At any rate, not a 265.
That's what I get for having it playing in the background while I'm working on other things..... lololol.... I missed that part. But it's also why I love Chevy's, everything is so compatible with everything else, that all the VIN tag will tell you what was supposed to be in there, not what someone put in there to keep it on the road... lol@@Zero-Fox-Garage
My own 2 cents: get the body fixed by a professional. There’s gotta be a couple cars you can that you can sell to offset the cost of this one, which by the way is gorgeous.
So glad to see you buy this for yourself. I traded a gorgeous 2012 Camaro 2SS convertible completely tricked out for a barely running 71 Camaro with a small block of dubious origins. A former father son project, and I LOVE it. No one said much about the’12 Camaro, but I get thumbs up, yelling “love your car!”, and conversations every time I drive the 71. Happiness is underrated today
I'm 85 and I drove the first 55 I ever saw..A belAir 2 dr sedan, coral and gray. A salesman named Ted Ball let me drive it at riverside Motors, Madison WV. The first Nomad I ever saw was red and white..I couldn't believe how special they were.. When the 55s came out there were lots of people in the showrooms looking at the new V8s. I'm so happy for you getting that special car and I can see how much it means to you.. Paul in Ohio
probably most worthy of a full floor pan so far. beautiful score there Dan. looked like you wanted to put that hammer on the front fender when you were dealing with the starter but stopped yourself. looking forward to seeing where you take this project, well all of them actually. keep up the good work
The roof dent and the bonnet being bent was the twat at the towing company...They didn't latch it and it flipped open and killed the roof and the hood. It's amazing it didn't take out the windshield. Beautiful car !! take yer time and do her right, (I know you have heard that 898 times already tho I think you know what we're getting at...;D)
I love it! It"s always exciting to get a car and find out all about it. I have a 55 Nomad and never get tired of seeing these cars. It"s a great car Dan!
Congratulations. That's a score of a lifetime to get one that complete and in great condition. It needs some work but it's light-years ahead of 99% of them.
That chrome part you found sorta attached to the 8 track, is a 2 piece under the dash mount that you attach to the 8 track so you can pull the slide free and take it into your home to prevent theft. Some had a small lock on top.
Nice score dan! This one is worth the time to put a full floor in it, you got all winter!....do this one right and you could have a quite valuable car when its completed
When it rains, it pours! Holy Cow!!! Most can only dream of having a Nomad, now you’ve got two!! Congratulations!! It obviously found you, or it wouldn’t be.
Hey Dan, with all the trim pieces you found, you could sell what you don't need and get back some of the money you spent. As much as you spent on the parts you needed for your other Nomad, you now know what you can get for them. Love the new car, your channel and videos. Take care and be safe.
I was once the proud owner of a 55 Nomad. I traded it for a 23 T roadster. I loved the roadster but the Nomad was a beautiful car. I would love to have it back but it is what it is. Congratulations on your new car.
Thanks for this video I truly enjoyed watching Dan and Mur working together it made me laugh when Mur said "when mechanics were men " 😄 😆 I recently just lost my Dad and this brought a smile to my face. Thanks DD speed shop

Man, you're really stepping up in the world. '55 Nomad and '57 2 door hard top, life is good. Please get the dents worked out, she deserves it. Love the tri-five vids.
Dan, that 'Acme Thunderer' whistle is a relic itself! They are usually chrome plated brass based on the Original Flight Jacket Whistle as worn by RAF & USAAF pilots and aircrews during World War II. Referred to as the “Ditch” Whistle, at times as it was used by pilots who had been shot down in the Ocean to attract attention from passing ships. Check the date on it. Want to sell it? I collect Raf/Aaf stuff.😊
DAN, I LOVE 💕 SEEING YOU WORK IN THE GARAGE WITH YOUR DAD, A REAL TREAT!!! Your Dad is SOOOO cool 😎, the life of the party type of guy! Thanks for having him on the video. DAN, YOU ROCK HARD, LIKE JOURNEY IN 1986!!! Lighter blazing in the air saluting you and your Dad. Anyway, thanks for the video 📸.
The videos I love the most, are the ones with Murr in them. You lucky to have him as a father ,he’s a great easy-going guy. I remember seeing this car back in the 1990s when I was cruising down portage Avenue in my Camaro
Dan I know that debt is a bummer, however a Nomad in that condition is the find of a lifetime. So congratulations to you on. that little trick. go ahead and show the videos on it. their fun for me. love the Nomad and can't wait to see how ever thing turns out.
Great purchase Dan! If your car was Factory 3-Speed Overdrive equipped, you'll find an "Overdrive" T-Handle under the dash, and a plunger switch behind the accelerator pedal. The Overdrive T-handle serves as a mechanical lockout to prevent the OD unit from engaging. The plunger below the accelerator pedal breaks the OD circuit' power to allow the transmission to drop back into straight drive if a "passing gear" for more power is desired. I acquired a 3-speed with overdrive and retrofitted it on my '57 sedan many years ago. It worked great. I look forward to seeing this beautiful car on the road again. Enjoy! Jim
I love the car and it's so loaded with options and so complete that to restomod it would be a sin! It deserves to stay true to it's form and will be a beautiful example of a 55 Nomad! Awesome find!
Way to go, Dan!! That's gonna look sweet with the plow and that big hood scoop you have. Resist, if you can. Keep it stock. All those extra parts were quite a surprise and worth some money. These videos will be fun to watch, for sure. Cheers!! 😎
Awesome. Do the floor plans, do the brakes, keep it original as possible. What a sweet find. All the parts are probably worth your money back on the purchase.
What an incredible score!! I think you show a lot of content on this one. This car being as nice as it is, buy floor patch sections and make her solid again
Dan, I'm in shock as I'm sure you are, what a great car! Keep it nice and don't modify it to much, keep it straight and enjoy it! I'm currently working on a 68 GTO, loaded like your 55, it's 95% original, and the hardest decision I had to make is what to do with it. Murph.
Beautiful car! Take your time and do it right. No shortcuts. Get whole floor panel. Dont need to rush it and wait a while if you have to. This one should be treated different than the typical DD projects.
The ‘55 is may favorite Nomad and arguably the best looking one. To find a Nomad in this condition is a rare thing indeed. I believe that this may be the first tri-five that you have with a complete headliner😊! The color of the steering wheel and dash lead me to believe that the original color may have been cream or brownish. The spare parts that came with it is a treasure trove and could take the edge off of your initial investment.
If it truly just needs a patch panel for the floor, do a Fitzee style "cut and butt" and it will be more or less undetectable. A full floor pan will still have front, rear, and side blends to the original car that the car guys will recognize, and ask you just how bad the whole floor was. Keep the fix simple for a first rate refurbishment, almost a restoration. Now if the inner and outer rockers are more or less a mess, then maybe the full floor pan will have the bigger long term return. But like Danni says, if you take the whole interior out, it could be a big challenge to get it back together. I've seen you do it, so whatever you decide will work out. Good score, and best of luck!
Very happy for the two of you. My wife and I know that great feeling of finding that hidden classic. A very good friend of ours told us to do what makes us happy and safe with our 1956 chevy find. Have fun and keep the video’s comming …….🎉🎉🎉

So happy for you Dan! That's an awesome find and I vote for some conservation (vs restoration) on this one.
Nice score dan! This one is worth the time to put a full floor in it, you got all winter!....do this one right and you could have a quite valuable car when its completed
Dude you the king of cars
When it rains, it pours! Holy Cow!!! Most can only dream of having a Nomad, now you’ve got two!! Congratulations!! It obviously found you, or it wouldn’t be.
Hey Dan, with all the trim pieces you found, you could sell what you don't need and get back some of the money you spent. As much as you spent on the parts you needed for your other Nomad, you now know what you can get for them. Love the new car, your channel and videos. Take care and be safe.
Thanks buddy! Appreciate it!
Way to go, Dan, the car is awesome! Take your time and enjoy the build. 👍👍
Couldn't have gone to a better person , Im so happy and stoked for you !!
Such a hard working team. DD Speed Shop deserves this little Nomad.
Freaking awesome!!!!! Definitely upgrade the brakes for safety and keep the rest as original as possible. Awesome, awesome, awesome find!!!! I’m excited for you and I hope we see lots of videos of this gem!!!!
That Nomad looks great,I would go for a new floor pan. It's in such good conditions that it deserves it.I bet if you keep it original,it will be worth a lot of money.Great videos, thax!👍
Yes Dan u scored huge on this great wagon. Congratulations 🎉
Man, you're really stepping up in the world. '55 Nomad and '57 2 door hard top, life is good. Please get the dents worked out, she deserves it. Love the tri-five vids.
Congrats on the auction win!!
Keep on saving the classics, or Hotrodding them into use!
Congrats on your find. That is sweet. keep on working on it
Hell of a find buddy!!! Excited to see more of it in the future

@@DDSpeedShop you hit a gold mine on this one
@@DDSpeedShop no damm hood scoop please
Awesome find!
wonderful nomad looks straight, it deserves a full pan. Can't wait to watch the progress so jealous great channel.
Very cool once in a lifetime find ❤ can see ur pretty happy with it 😀
Way to go, Dan!!
Damn Dan!!!!! What a beautiful car please please don’t tear it up it is so freaking clean get it running and keep it stock !!!!!!
What an incredible score!! I think you show a lot of content on this one. This car being as nice as it is, buy floor patch sections and make her solid again
Beautiful car love that you found a nice one near you!
It's a parts extravaganza!! Sweet purchase for sure. You guys are like kids on a xmas morning, love the excitement!
Congratulations. You and that beauty were meant to be one. I'm so happy for you!
Yes I love this car as you do.
Good job old man you always take care of the oldies keep up the good work you deserve it
So cool. The excitement in mur going through the parts was fun to watch . What a exciting build this will be to watch. Oh and a camaro too lol
Look at that headliner!!!! And Glass!!! Sooo Nice!!!❤🎉Enjoy!!!
If I were you Dan I would sell some of those other toys and keep that one for sure. Very nice car dude what a find!!
yeah that might have to happen
Congratulations brother. You deserve every bit of it
The ‘55 is may favorite Nomad and arguably the best looking one.
This Nomad belongs in your hands, ENJOY this awesome find...
I share your excitement about this one! Awesome, and very lucky find!
I feel really sorry for the guy that lost it .
He had probably passed. Saw a really nice 50's Cadillac at picknpull once. It was perfect but dusty. Someone donated it and it was sold as a driver.
I'm very happy for you Dan. What a blessing to find that. Now the challenge is to make the black one as nice as this one is.😊
Great car Dan! Congrats on the purchase.
Very happy for the two of you. My wife and I know that great feeling of finding that hidden classic. A very good friend of ours told us to do what makes us happy and safe with our 1956 chevy find. Have fun and keep the video’s comming …….🎉🎉🎉
