    Thank you for taking the time and the challenge of Sables lock , it was the first one I had ever built, the lock came out of an active us government installation, with modifications , I hand made a key and then made a copy so it would work much smoother for you! All of the pins where custom made, have no fear Sable will return to you for an even more difficult challenge soon! Woof on!

    Excellent work Da Wolf! I'd say you did Sable proud. So sorry about your loss, Sable looked like a great coworker, and great friend, and a very very happy girl. As the saying goes, "the more time I spend around people, the more I like my dogs! (Two boxers, Ruger and Piper). Nice picking Bill, you've been on quite a roll here lately, not giving out those paclocks easily!

    Sweet. #3 almost looks like a camshaft, and #4 sort of looks like a piston... That could be an interesting pin set. Car engine parts.

    • @mininuke
      @mininuke 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      would a lock packed full of grease/oil be easier or harder to pick?.

    • @tuba7084
      @tuba7084 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Deathclaw that would probably make it a lot harder with some sticky chassis grease. Pins looking like pistons and rods, crankshaft, camshaft and valves would make some interesting feedback and some wild false sets. It would take a lot of precision work and time to make as well. Be a really good challenge for Bill though.

    Really nice video! How do we know to tension clock or counter clockwise??

    • @doublejaylar
      @doublejaylar 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's just a preference in this type of situation. If the lock is installed in a door or cabinet, most people would tension it in the direction that unlocks whatever they're trying to access. But, a quality plug spinner can help if one happens to turn the lock the wrong direction.

    • @CGoody564
      @CGoody564 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the orientation of what you are picking. For instance if you were attacking a deadbolt pin and tumbler lock that rotated clockwise to lock and it was currently locked, you wouldn't rotate it clockwise when trying to pick it since even if you successfully set the pins, nothing would happen since you'd just be trying to force the deadbolt farther into the frame, which doesn't really help anyone :p

      @bosnianbill  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, I don't bother anymore. I USED to try it but after hundreds of attempts my failure rate was 100%. I don't want to waste anyone's time trying a low probability attack.

  • @zironemegeaz
    @zironemegeaz 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    went to public scoo too, would someone be so kind and tell me what the purpose of the shim here?

    • @doublejaylar
      @doublejaylar 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The shim is to fill any small gaps between the core & the plug follower, or other holes/traps in the core, when pushing the core out of the lock body. Some narrow & sharp driver pins can get stuck otherwise. It's just added insurance when removing the core. Nothing sucks more than trying to disassemble a lock & having something get stuck, fall out, or lock the core up halfway out.

    • @zironemegeaz
      @zironemegeaz 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks for the reply, having just got the night school kit that has that empty 6th pin and ended up getting a spool in that empty camber taking it apart could see where shims can save the day

  • @pr0xZen
    @pr0xZen 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I really don't understand. Why has there not been introduced an international ban on reuse of slotted screws, except for preservation of antiques? There should be an application process for use of slotted screws for specific cosmetic purposes, and a $1000 fine for use of slotted screws in not-purely-cosmetic applications. 6 months jail time for repeat offenders, and billion dollar fines for companies selling new functional products with slotted screws. Maybe government incentives for exclusive use of Torx could help things along.
