I think that Abdul Aziz, the older gentleman in the turban, is truly the most thoughtful when he’s listening. He has said a few time that he is totally illiterate but he’s extremely wise when he’s speaking which has nothing to do with literacy. He reminds me of my beautiful parents-in-law who are Yashkun from the Kashmir, another minority living under the Pakistani government. They’re also totally illiterate but so wise. All their children, both sons and daughters are all educated to having Masters degrees. Their children were told that the parents would work to give them all the education which they’d never have as they believed that literacy would bring their children a better future and financial stability, and they have done that now.
I like his response to Black Sabbath where he says when you die, God will ask "do you know Satan?". "What does he look like?" No, it is not Satan, but you who have done evil. Don't blame Satan. This is a very wise thing to say about the politicians the band is referencing. I would like to meet him.
i have been to several so called 3rd world countries and it's absolutely heartbreaking seeing childrens maybe aged 10 selling flowers and stuff at 11pm while they should be sleeping and go to school next day....but they are not going to school and what helps their family short term imrpoving their income is going to be a problem later on...most of them will end up going into prostitution because its by far the most profitable.... but also only short term and the cycle continues....
I love how excited Muharam gets especially with music. I'm a musician and this is exactly the same way I get when hearing great music. He has great insight.
I love the comment, "Are they doing romance?" It's so palpable the depth of their connection that their harmony is easily read as a passion. Not for each other necessarily, but that core love that is apparent when lost on making music.
I've been a guitar player for over 40 yrs, keep playing amigo, you've got the touch of emotion in your sound and that's the part you either have or you don't. Now all you need is practice. By practice I mean years of singing alone at night in the backyard where none can hear and you let it out.
Seven Bridges Road is my favorite Eagles' song. It really showcases their vocal harmonies. My interpretation of the song is that it's about addiction of some type: A man traveling through a dead land (desert) is tired and looking for relief from hardship (tiredness). Then he sees what he thinks he's looking for, but it turns out to be a trap he can never escape from. The story parallels what happens to those who become addicted. Addicts have a problem they want to solve or treat with drugs, sex, etc. They think it's something that will help them solve a problem, but it becomes worse problem in the end.
Mr Sir, the more I watch your programs/video's, the more I can feel the depth of it. Sincerely respect to you and the yours. And especially to the 'old man'( my age ) who is so calm and inside so joyfull. Love for all of you in the name of God.
I love how the music is making them want to move, They may not know what the song says, but a good rift and song can move anyone. And this one is one of the best.
These commentaries are amazing. We have three gentlemen from significantly different Eastern cultures expressing their impressions as they listen to the music. Their views are so un-Western, a good thing, and authentic and sincere. Totally appreciated this.
The Eagles is my favourite group of all time, plus I’m old enough to remember when this song was first released! Thank you gentlemen for your profound interpretations of the lyrics and obvious joy as you watched the guitarists appear to joust. It is always a pleasure to listen to you and learn about your own culture.
I am 46 now, but grew up driving around with my dad in his blue work van. He gave me a deep love of all the GREATS from this time period and I am SO GLAD he did. He knew the HEART sisters really well. They were raised in the same city as him with their mom. He would go and see them and hang out with them in dive bars when they were FIRST on the music scene in Washington state. the muscles of the mouth and the ones controlling small movements in your fingers are controlled by areas next to each other in the brain, this is why your mouth sometimes move when you do something difficult with your hands.
Yep. This explains why Michael Jordan famously stuck out his tongue when he performed his magic on the basketball court. He says he copied it from his dad, who did it when working on cars, but i think your explanation is the real one.
I do the opposite. My fingers sometimes move without me being conscious of it due to my thoughts at the time. It almost looks like I'm using an invisible typewriter. 😮
Those gentlemen just witnessed one of the greatest guitar duets in rock history. They also got to debate the meaning of a song that people have been analyzing since it was released in the 1970’s. Great reaction!
Glad they appreciated it! I think Chacha is right that the song is talking about a brothel/pleasure house type of place, but I think they're using that as a metaphor for life in general
I’ve always been told that “Hotel California” is about drugs and how once you get hooked on them, you’re stuck. Like the lyrics say, you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave. Addiction isn’t easy, it gets a hold on you. That’s the hotel California impacts.
@@marieneu264 I also think it has a double meaning. When they say check out, they literally mean suicide too. Everything from addiction, and suicide, that line you can check out but you can never leave. That's directly related to depression. As a therapist, and struggling with depression in my own right, I double understand these meanings.
Because of the line "prisoners of our own device" I always thought it was a reference to life itself...and re incarnation. Checking out meaning taking ones own l fe. You come back. But the drug association works well. I guess thats the power of great (inspired) art: layered meaning.
Cirice! That song has some of my favorite riffs, good playing Adnan! I’m glad you’re all listening to Hotel California, one of my favorite songs of all time.
I was JUST coming to say this, Ghost is one of my favorite bands of the last 5 years (I'm a 53 year old metalhead so duh!), and my jaw dropped when Adnan started playing that riff! Love it!
No criticisms from me on the way this reaction was conducted. I am just pleased to see other cultures enjoying what is a classic song to Americans and the western world.
It does not matter where you were born, or raised, these gentlemen had the same comments that every other furst tome listener to this song says. "The singing drummer." "The melodic music in the beginning." The guitar duet at the end was amazing. " Thank you gentlemen!
As always, Mr Abdul has MY WHOLE HEART. All of the gentlemen enjoyed this and seem very honest in their reactions. FANTASTIC with your translations and explanations. Love this content.
Device also means a plot, story, plan or method or effect. "Prisoners of our own device" means prisoners of our own making. That the lyric became somewhat applicable to what we all call "a device" is another twist of the measure of the timelessness of this song. The lyrics can be applied to anything in life itself. For me that's what Hotel California is - it's the life we create.
Beautiful. You don't have to catch up. We (U.S.) need to go back. Back to truth and reality and heart and art. Your videos help us do that. Keep up the great work.
Amazing how meaning changes with time and context. The expression “of your own device” long predates cell phones. It means making your own choices without someone controlling you. (But the cell phone read is interesting!)
Yeah the original expression "of your own device" is less about a physical device, and more about how you have devised or are responsible for the circumstances you are in.
I've had this album since it came out. "You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave" is one of the best rock & roll lyrics ever. Enjoy! 😎 At the end Glenn Frye and Joe Walsh are literally having a guitar duel. No losers here!
I think the old man might understand the meaning of the song better than most. In a way he seems to be taking it very literally, but that literalism actually captures the metaphor better than describing the metaphor could.
Now that you mentioned Linda Ronstadt indicating she founded the band, both Glenn Fry and Don Henley were in Linda's band before they branched out on their own as the Eagles. You should show them a video of Linda Ronstadt performing live she is phenomenal and a super star in her own right.
Beautiful song, and interesting interpretations of it. I think the songs that are nuanced are really difficult to understand in another culture, but they get Hotel California. Thanks, and I wish everyone a great weekend.😊
This is amazing. Watching these tribal men listening to classic rock, enjoying it and having meaningful conversations. It just goes to show that good music is truly universal.
At the end of the song, it's the masters chamber but they stab the beast but cannot kill it. These men understood more than most even without a translation! That shows 2 things. They are very observant, and the artists got the meaning across in the music. This song is both beautiful and scary.
I didn't see it mentioned that the song was mostly written by Don Felder the guy with the two-neck guitar. Don Henley wrote the lyrics. The song is actually about the party drug culture in California. You can "Check out" any time you like is about getting high. The "You can never leave" is that once you are addicted to the life it stays with you. By the way, they seem to love great harmonies. They should see some songs by "The Band". Levon Helm sings and plays drums as well but the harmonies in that band are incredible
Yeah Ive always thought the lyrics 'they stab it with their steely knives but they just can't kill the beast' is about shooting up with something but always wanting more
Since they seem to really like the Harmony in this song, there is another song by The Eagles that you have to let them hear it's called Seven Bridges road. It really showcases their harmonizing abilities
Loved seeing you’re reactions! You gentlemen are amazing❤. I’ve seen the Eagles twice in live concert and they are indeed amazing. Love from Texas USA!

In light of all the allegations and predatory nature of Hollywood; this song perfectly reflects all of it while leaving so many events and names erased. There’s such a dark and remorse nature to the song that any nation could realize from it; even with the beauty of the composition. Truly one of the best rock songs ever made.
Although many people interpret this song as being about drugs, I believe it conveys something much broader. Human nature drives us to pursue pleasure, yet paradoxically, we often become ensnared by our own desires.
As was implied at the beginning, this song can have many interpretations. Some say it's about drugs, others say it's about a celeb lifestyle. It could be about being trapped by commercialism. It could be a horror story. Heck, it could be about giving in to the Dark Side of the Force (forever will it dominate your path). Any or all of those thing could be valid depending on who and where you are in your life. This is the hallmark of great art.
I find Abdul's thought process compelling and insightful. Your videos are very good and the rest of your team are just great. I look forward to their viewpoints and observations.
I really enjoyed their satisfaction and reactions to PC performance , the band and the music . These tribal people are so cool and calm . I seen them react before and what surprised me was how positively they react even at their age to Western music.
A lot of people interpreted this song as a drug reference, you can "check out" any time you like, but you can never leave the addiction. It kind of fits, but the band has denied it having anything to do with drugs. If they likw the hair on that guy, then show them the lead singer for Kansas- Carry On Wayward Son. Great song, but that guy could be stunt double for bigfoot.
I enjoyed seeing this reaction so much. The wisdom in working out the meaning of the words allowed me to see the old song in a new light. Many thanks to all of your from Eastern Ireland.
Love your fantastic videos, want to check out more. Travelled all my life, always wanted to hear and see from other perspectives and that was the time when there were no mobiles, just you and who you stumbled upon and then memory to remember the moment. This is a gem of a film to see for the first time how one reacts to Hotel California. Music is so universal, it gets you in the heart no matter where in the world you come from. And it connects you to everyone. Brilliant footage.
It gives me hope for the future of our planet if many cultures are becoming more able to enjoy and appreciate each others art and music. I really hope it is so.
I love these guys, and to hear their take on such a song, one with so many possibilities for interpretation, is fascinating, and probably more accurate than most western people's interpretation of it.
Good for you taking up guitar! Learning to play an instrument takes practice. I never had the patience for it, so I have a sound system at home to listen to others play. Someone has to be the fan, right? Another great reaction by the group.
Great reaction everyone! Lured by Temptations, is how I always describe this song. The Eagles band members are great artists individually and even better when collaborating together. My Dad played their albums in the house all the time as I was growing up.
Oh, I can't wait to hear this! I LOVE the Eagles! The only thing better would be the group BREAD. The song "If" especially. I would so love to hear them respond to Bread. But Eagles is in my top favorites. Looking forward to watching this! I love your unique take on music, so I'm looking forward to this! Enjoy!
I really respect their insights and interpretations. I was a Navy Brat growing up, we lived all over the world. People need to experience as many cultures as possible in life. You learn we are not that different from each other at all. No matter what politicians and celebrities try to tell you. And lets be honest, who doesn't want to try food you've never had before right? Food and music.. universal languages.
Great reaction! it was interesting seeing what each of the guys thought of the song and how they interpreted it. There is another band that does similar type of lyrics where they a rather vague as to what exactly they are talking about but are open to a lot of interpretation. the band is called CAKE and Going the Distance I think was their first big hit. they mix different musical genres together too. Maybe the guys would enjoy reacting to that band as well
Good watch. The enjoyment of the music, plain to see. Loved it. This group has a lot of really good songs...and every band member can lead sing too. BTW that hair style the drummer/singer has, is called 'fro', from 'afro', a style a lot of black folks here wore their hair...popular in the 70s/80s.
Although it is not their original composition, the vocal harmonies on "Seven Bridges Road" by the Eagles are fantastic. Apparently they would use that song backstage before concerts for a vocal warm-up exercise. That song was originally recorded by a country musician named Steve Young, and then a multi -voice harmony cover version was done by musician Iain Matthews, and then another cover was by the Eagles. Highly recommended.
I wish I could find a good live performance video of the Eagles doing that song. But I can only find clips without good audio qualities: A backstage warm-up rehearsal clip from 1977 with only one verse: th-cam.com/video/jYVFZk0ZN-A/w-d-xo.html And a cell phone recording with only part of the song by someone from the audience in 2010: th-cam.com/video/jjHkAjnR4TM/w-d-xo.html But the best audio recording was from a 1980 live album by the Eagles: th-cam.com/video/U61bPI8K04s/w-d-xo.html
They were the opening act for Linda Ronstadt who was very famous. Then they (the Eagles) got famous. Introduce everyone to some Linda Ronstadt songs. Like I’ve Been Cheated. All her songs are good.

If they likw the hair on that guy, then show them the lead singer for Kansas- Carry On Wayward Son. Great song, but that guy could be stunt double for bigfoot.
Don said, it seems recently that this song was about the lure of "Hollywood," more specifically fame. It really makes sense to me now.
That’s Robbie Steinhardt. He wasn’t the lead singer, but your Bigfoot comparison is spot-on! RIP to Robbie.
Love every second of this video!!!!! Great explanation and all their thoughs. What a great song as well. Greatest harmonizing guitars ever!!!!
I don't know what I expected to hear when that guy picked up a guitar, but it wasn't Ghost
As far as good human beings go, you are far more advanced than many. Blessings to you Sirs
Love these guys, so honest. Love to see them want to move to the music.
Brilliant footage.
omg! i love the diversity of opinion and character in these 3, especially Yellow Turban man.. he's been to a few Hotel California's in his lifetime👌🏽🤣
I always love these! gives me new perspectives on how different cultures live, feel and think.
Perfect band for these gentlemen to react too .always a joy too see their reactions.👏😊
They need to hear the a cappella song Seven Bridges Road by the Eagles…well mostly a capella. I think there’s guitar music about halfway through
I love the appreciation they have for music
Enjoy!
Adnan, you allways offer a very good explenation of what they will listen. Nice job.
This was really interesting and entertaining. What a great find. Thanks for sharing your discussion.
I really feel love for Abdul.. Something about him I really like.. This song has been my favorite since it was my very first vinyl!
So interesting listening to them appreciating so called western rock and pop music - absolutely amazing really.
So much fun to watch:) thank you
Cirice by Ghost SPOTTED! Nice, you have great taste. 😊
Thanks! 😊
You should play the video of Cirice for them. I’d love to see & hear their reactions.
I love watching on my SMART PHONE. Love you guys.
Loves these people. So wholesome.
Maybe the guys would enjoy reacting to that band as well
I love Cake! Great suggestion!
Gogle box Kaszmir style I love it
It’s full of emotion
Although it is not their original composition, the vocal harmonies on "Seven Bridges Road" by the Eagles are fantastic. Apparently they would use that song backstage before concerts for a vocal warm-up exercise.
That song was originally recorded by a country musician named Steve Young, and then a multi -voice harmony cover version was done by musician Iain Matthews, and then another cover was by the Eagles. Highly recommended.
I wish I could find a good live performance video of the Eagles doing that song. But I can only find clips without good audio qualities:
A backstage warm-up rehearsal clip from 1977 with only one verse:

And a cell phone recording with only part of the song by someone from the audience in 2010:

But the best audio recording was from a 1980 live album by the Eagles:

My mom had that album. I knew every song!
There is sooooo much to love about this one! Thanks, Ad! ✌💖🦉
Glad you enjoy it!
They were the opening act for Linda Ronstadt who was very famous. Then they (the Eagles) got famous. Introduce everyone to some Linda Ronstadt songs. Like I’ve Been Cheated. All her songs are good.
Sure ❤️
love seeing you play the guitar!! very inspiring
