Agree, and it has the most famous verse in musical history imo "I'm standing on the corner of Winslow Arizona, I'm such a fine sight to see, There's a girl, my lord in a flat bed Ford, slowing down to take a look at me". Never get tired of hearing it.
Take it to the limit was Randy's achilles heel. It was very difficult for him to reach those super high notes live, and he was often pressured into it by Henley and Frey. Fear of missing the notes was a major problem for him and if he failed, he was subject to a lot of emotional abuse.
I've known em like my whole life cause of my dad but I just recently discovered those 1977 concert preformances oh man all of them are so good, they were unstoppable that night
I'm 48.. I can remember my parents playing the hell out of this album when I was less than 3. This one, Peter Frampton, and Steve Miller.. is a lot of what the late 70s sounded like to me. There was also a lot of foreigner 😎👍
The guitar work on this song is awesome, the rhythm guitars, but it's Don Felder's guitar solo that really stands out. He's got that nasty fuzz tone that is hard to replicate with today's amps, but the solo is so damn tasty. Great song
Eagles have lyrics that people remember their entire life, great harmonies (7 Bridges Road), 4 lead singers (Don Henley, Glen Frey, Joe Walsh, Randy Meisner replaced by Timothy B Schmidt), and great musicianship. Amazing live!
This is an excellent song, this was released my Sophomore year in High School, the Eagles were huge, we had so many great groups, spoiled rotten, we were.
You should check out “Desperado”. It’s a ballad and in the country-rock style they tried to get away from here. But to me, “Desperado” is one of the absolute greatest ballads of all time.
Me too, when this song came out they really rocked. Played it almost every night cruising in our beefed up muscle cars. Now doing both again, less beer & weed !
growing up with this music and being a recording engineer, I like seeing the young peoples reactions to the music of the 70's. These are real musicians playing real instruments on these tracks. This is writing and recording at it's best.
David Crosby died today. When we boomers are all gone they will remember us for the PC, some amazing movies but most of all for the music. They'll curse us for everything else.
I never knew that about the influences for this song even though I've heard it eight billion times and I owned all of their albums and I own a piano book with the sheet music to all of their hits. I haven't listened to it in so long and it sounded really really good. For something with yet even another feel, that was a big hit for the Eagles, check out Life in the Fast Lane. That Joe Walsh riff at the beginning is iconic.
Great choices, mine are , One of These nights, I Can't Tell You Why, and maybe Witchy Woman. But there are so many great songs. U.S.A. greatest band, I think. ❤
Once Don Felder was forced out they weren't so good. His played so many riffs in their songs it was--his guitar playing that drove so many of their songs -he was and still is one of the most underrated guitar players of all time.
Don Henley does it up right on this song. Hell, they all do. All great singers, musicians etc. You'd love their song "After the Thrill is Gone". It's from the same album. Check it out when you can. Great reaction!!
A lot of people think that, but no. Only the ones in the harmonies mixed in pretty low are Meisner. The high lead falsetto is Henley all the way through. Henley also sang it live for years, where he sometimes held that crazy high note at the end. At one point he was accused by a journalist of lip syncing that part, and the journalist was invited to watch Henley sing it (from behind the drum kit I believe). A cool move by Henley. Ironically, later when Henley's voice started going down hill, they DID have him lip sync a part live...the bridge of "Waiting in the weeds", where a recorded vocal would suddenly kick in when that very challenging bridge came up. From being less than perfect as always the case live, when the bridge would kick in it would have a studio mic sound all of a sudden, perfectly tuned vocals exactly mathematically in tune on every crazy high note (the album vocal). Also, Henley's albums from 2000 are helped by autotune/pitch correction here and there, but it got especially bad on his latest solo album "Cass County", where it's applied in a very clumsy manner making it hard for me to listen to.
Enjoyed you enjoying The Eagles. Loved your reaction/analysis. That line-the daughter of the devil himself/angel in white 🤩🎸🤘🎶✨✨✨🎶Yeah…we all think that’s cool.
Thanks for doing One of these Nights. It’s one of my favorite Eagles tracks. The thing that stands out to me about the Eagles is their versatility. I remember hearing their songs on the radio back in the day. I would be thinking “I really like this song. I wonder who sings it?”. Then being surprised it was The Eagles. Desperado, Take it Easy, Hotel California, Take it to the Limit, I Can’t Tell you Why, In the City….All Great Songs and none of them sound anything like the other. There was so much talent in this band.
I'll just add though, there was no soul in their music, it was made to get in the charts. I've seen them live they were as good live as their records. But they were full as dishwater live, they were a lifeless live act.
DON Henley is the singer on this song he used his falsetto voice at the end. Please watch live 🎶 🙏 Take It To The Limit written mostly by Randy, the bass player, Don, and Glenn helped finish it.
Don Felder wrote the bass line intro to this song. Frey played piano on the track in the initial demos. Randy was back in Nebraska. He liked what he heard so the bass line remained. This was more or less the introduction to Felder when he joined them. Olympic Studios in London saw the record there.
Always interested to hear your reactions. Thoughtful and intelligent. Always well done. One thing, It's Glenn Fry ("Fry" sounds like 'high' or 'fly' or 'my') Well, you get it....
The guitar playing of Don Felder is what morphed the Eagles into a super group. He doesn't just make guitar solos...he makes the guitar part of the entire song
I agree 100%-he was very underrated-in my top 5 favorite guitarists ever. He had so many riffs that were so memorable. He proves that you don't have to play at high decibels-and shred just to be good-he was great with those smooth memorable riffs that added to the overall structure of the song.
Me too, yes they did. The amount of great vocalists & musicians is unmatched, and they played great together. Our greatest band, I believe. Still play them every day !
Amazing and not sure if it is factual but I have heard that that one day by chance Don Felder came in to the studio and picked up Randy's bass and came up with the bass line
During this time period disco was taking over the airways and this was their song specifically written to be relevant in that space. The lyrics here are among their best. They clearly paint a picture you can see in your head.
Haven't heard that song in a while. I remember when it was brand new. Even back then it was so different for that time period. Just awesome to say the least. So many great memories for me at 15 years old. And memories were helped to be created by that song and the eagles in general. The album eagles greatest hits is totally and completely etched in my mind till the end. Thanks for revisiting that beautiful song. Oh, by the way, hello Eva. I remember you well.
Special song for me, as I was first dating my now husband of 47 years he bought me this album & left it in his car while working so it warped so he bought me another one because I loved this song so much. Memories, ah.
That wasn’t Don Henley singing. I don’t think I’ve seen any reaction videos for The Sad Cafe’ but I really like that Eagles song. I have very strong and fond memories of a six week summer vaycay in Panama City, Florida the summer of ‘79 when I was 12 and The Sad Cafe’ is one of the songs that is part of the soundtrack of those memories for me ❤️❤️❤️
It’s awesome to see somebody young discovery music that I’ve been listening to all my life maybe you guys stand a chance after all because if you go back to the 70s in the 80s there’s so much good music to discover
Memories of the year I was married, going out bar hopping in the hot, damp San Antonio night and knowing this was "one of those nights". Makes a chill go up and down my spine.
Their manager, Irving Azoff told people Henley was the band's "Secret Weapon" because he could sing in many octaves perfectly. We soon learned that description was spot on...
This song is just so amazing. You get lost in the sauce with the impeccable harmonies. Shout out to Randy Meisner on those high harmonies.
I'm assuming Glenn did the other harmony vocal line?
Is that randy on the whistle notes ? Sounds like Mariah carrie
Linda Ronstadt? Heard she was one of the backing vocals
Eagles - "Take it to the Limit" live 1977. Literal perfection.
Absolutely! Love how he holds the high note at the end.
Perfection, is the right word!!! It's my all time favorite song!
Agree, and it has the most famous verse in musical history imo "I'm standing on the corner of Winslow Arizona, I'm such a fine sight to see, There's a girl, my lord in a flat bed Ford, slowing down to take a look at me". Never get tired of hearing it.

I've known em like my whole life cause of my dad but I just recently discovered those 1977 concert preformances oh man all of them are so good, they were unstoppable that night
For Eagles classic rock it doesn't get any better then this. Beautiful.
ONE OF THE GREATEST GROUPS EVER FORMED!!!!
I am so jealous of you hearing these songs for the first time as a full-on adult, and hearing them in stereo not mono.
I'm 48..
I can remember my parents playing the hell out of this album when I was less than 3. This one, Peter Frampton, and Steve Miller.. is a lot of what the late 70s sounded like to me. There was also a lot of foreigner 😎👍
The lyrics are original to them. The combination of their vocals, harmonies and wonder instruments makes for a fantastic sound.
Henley is one of rock's best lyricists. Very literate and sophisticated, yet everyman-simple. Brilliant.
A masterwork of early Eagles music…
Hands down, for me, the greatest Eagles song.
The bassist at the time Randy Meisner had one of the greatest high tenor voices in rock.
One of my most favourite Eagles' songs in their whole catalogue of gems. Love it, love everything about it,
This is an excellent song, this was released my Sophomore year in High School, the Eagles were huge, we had so many great groups, spoiled rotten, we were.
You should check out “Desperado”. It’s a ballad and in the country-rock style they tried to get away from here. But to me, “Desperado” is one of the absolute greatest ballads of all time.
Don Henley one of the best lead vocals in Rock. Love all his solo albums also.
This song turned me into an Eagles fan. When I heard this song for the first time it immediately became my favorite song at the time. Peace!
Me too, when this song came out they really rocked. Played it almost every night cruising in our beefed up muscle cars. Now doing both again, less beer & weed !
We can safely say this is possibly the best record of all time all around. The guitar solo is the best ever.
Don Felder at his best-he was was so good in the solos. Great riff.
This is rock and roll at its finest! So many great groups in the 70's! Don Felder's leads will melt your face off.
That Bridge is absolute killer!.. especially when it leads to that guitar solo .. Rock heaven! :)
A wonderful lead guitar solo by Don "fingers" Felder. He is such a tasty guitarist. I loved the Eagles when he was in the band.
growing up with this music and being a recording engineer, I like seeing the young peoples reactions to the music of the 70's. These are real musicians playing real instruments on these tracks. This is writing and recording at it's best.
"I Can't Tell You Why" is my favorite. "Witchy Woman" is another good one, it's easier to say they didn't create a bad song, all good!
I second that on "I can't tell you why!" Such an amazing song!!!!
@@willmoney34 Timothy B. Schmit’s voice...aaah!
Pfft! Yes. Both of those are smokin tracks.💯👌✨✨✨
The three songs this one and the two above are my faves
Glenn Frey's two favourite Eagles songs were One of These Nights, and I Can't Tell You Why. Interestingly, they also are mine.
David Crosby died today. When we boomers are all gone they will remember us for the PC, some amazing movies but most of all for the music. They'll curse us for everything else.
Peaceful easy feeling
Can’t wait to hear it. As I’ve heard them for many years. Saw them in concert in Toronto too. It’s pronounced Glen ‘Fry’
Great reaction for something a little different again try Those Shoes off their The Long Run album. 👍
My top 3 Eagles songs...One of These Nights ❤️ I Can't Tell You Why ❤️ Already Gone ❤️
Great choices, mine are , One of These nights, I Can't Tell You Why, and maybe Witchy Woman. But there are so many great songs. U.S.A. greatest band, I think. ❤
Eagles - Perfection
The high vocals were Randy Meisner.
No they weren't - it was Henley. Randy was one of the harmonists.
Arguably the greatest band ever based a great deal on individual as well as collaborative and collective talent.
Great song and an amazing guitar solo!
Fantastic Felder, as always.
I've never heard anyone say they didnt like the EAGLES. It may not be their favorite kind of music but they always like EAGLES.
There is NO OTHER guitar solo that fits a song as well as this one. It's the perfect solo.
Love that bass line. Didn't realize the back story with the amazing Al Green influence. Wonderful reaction!
So good. It’s been a while since I’ve really listened to The Eagles.
I think the really high notes were bassist Randy Meisner.
A lot of people think that, but no. Only the ones in the harmonies mixed in pretty low are Meisner. The high lead falsetto is Henley all the way through. Brilliant track from a brilliant Band
Enjoyed you enjoying The Eagles. Loved your reaction/analysis. That line-the daughter of the devil himself/angel in white 🤩🎸🤘🎶✨✨✨🎶Yeah…we all think that’s cool.

One of the all time best groups. Back when music was music. Do wop to the 80s
Great lyrics, impeccable musicianship and high production values. The Eagles set a standard for music in the seventies that took them to top.
I'll just add though, there was no soul in their music, it was made to get in the charts. I've seen them live they were as good live as their records. But they were full as dishwater live, they were a lifeless live act.
The harmonies are insane bro
Bloody brilliant song. The whole arrangement. Great review.
DON Henley is the singer on this song he used his falsetto voice at the end. Please watch live 🎶 🙏 Take It To The Limit written mostly by Randy, the bass player, Don, and Glenn helped finish it.
Grew up on these guys………candy to my ears❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yeah, the Eagles perfected a good lyric, a good harmony, great musical skills. Just an awesome group of super talented guys.
Don Felder wrote the bass line intro to this song. Frey played piano on the track in the initial demos. Randy was back in Nebraska. He liked what he heard so the bass line remained.
This was more or less the introduction to Felder when he joined them.
Olympic Studios in London saw the record there.
Most feel-good song of theirs, definitely my favorite(along with Hotel California of course).
Been searching for a little of both but unluckly just found The devilish ones...
God Damm it!
Please react to 'I cant tell you why' by the eagles
Don Henley does his awesome singing while playing the drums too!
Always interested to hear your reactions. Thoughtful and intelligent. Always well done.
One thing, It's Glenn Fry ("Fry" sounds like 'high' or 'fly' or 'my') Well, you get it....

Eagles have sooooooooo many great songs. When I was 14yrs old in 1985 I'd listen to the Eagles on my headphones while mowing lawn & laying in the sun.
One of my favorite bands, been listening to them for years.
Brilliant reaction
An underrated song from this album. Try and Love Again. I think it's definitely one of the best.
The highest notes were Randy Meisner, but Don carries most of the falsetto.
I agree. Randy's falsetto sounded more pure than that.
Ok, very good reaction...nice/good presentation, content good- like your expressions. Bravo Sir.
One of, if not the first, disco song by the Eagles. "Wicked wind whipsters and moans" shows their California country rock connection.
Eagles with such a deep repertoire, love them for decades.
Me too, yes they did. The amount of great vocalists & musicians is unmatched, and they played great together. Our greatest band, I believe. Still play them every day !
It's Fry...as in "fry an egg" 😊
Their songwriting, both lyrics and instrumentation are amazing. Some other deep lyrical songs are Hotel california, Lying Eyes, last Resort, etc
Amazing and not sure if it is factual but I have heard that that one day by chance Don Felder came in to the studio and picked up Randy's bass and came up with the bass line

You should listen to "Try and Love Again." The "high "vocalist is Randy Meisner not Henley.
The high voice is Timothy B Schmit
It's the late Randy Meisner. He was still with the Eagles when they made this album.
You should check out their live album hell freezes over.
Glad you appreciate this great tune!
Special song for me, as I was first dating my now husband of 47 years he bought me this album & left it in his car while working so it warped so he bought me another one because I loved this song so much. Memories, ah.
Ahhhh, sweet memories of 8th/9th grade, hanging out in my bedroom, listening to the radio, dreaming away. 1975
Take it easy or witchy women is a must!!!!!!
My 1st time catching you. That was fun! Thanks!
One Funky Tune! My Favorite Eagles Song!
Glad to see you're enjoying it as much as I did back in the seventies when I was like maybe 13
Good to see you back to the eagles. You'll never go wrong. Love your reactions!
This guy ROCKS! Loving from RIO RANCHO NM USA
The Eagles were just so damn good.
One of my favourite songs of all time. 😊
That wasn’t Don Henley singing.

I was a country artist starting in the late 60's, starting out playing their music, hard to follow they was first in everything, the best
The really high notes was the bass player Randy Meisner. Different members did different parts.
Love it when you talk over the music that way. And the way you stop it. Perfect timing. How did you learn that?
truly a total classic
Randy was an awesome bassist and obviously singer.
Quality musicians and vocals.
Eagles r a total groove!
Memories of the year I was married, going out bar hopping in the hot, damp San Antonio night and knowing this was "one of those nights". Makes a chill go up and down my spine.
This is very California. It reminds me of being a teenager at one of the fire pits in Huntington Beach at sunset. Those were the days. :)
love this song, but what made me sub was the fact your outro is "Shiki no uta" from Samurai Champloo. I'm a fan for life, now!
Their manager, Irving Azoff told people Henley was the band's "Secret Weapon" because he could sing in many octaves perfectly. We soon learned that description was spot on...
Life in the Fast Lane live by the Eagles also Desperado
My favorite Eagles song ❤
I think the singer is Randy Meisner not Don Henley
