The LEC is the League of Legends European Championship. Each of these guys is a shout caster or an analyst who's representing one of the teams that made it to the Playoffs (in order: G2, Misfits, Fnatic, Excel, Mad Lions, Rogue). They have done this for many years already. This time they decided to invite Rustage and Dan Bull for an extra flair. I highly recommend checking some of their other songs. The LEC team put out some really high-quality musical content.

Most bars refer to the League of Legend, so they don't land that hard if you don't know the game and its terminology ;p (for instance INT is from "inting", which came from intentional feeding, this is when someone is letting enemies to kill him many times (feed them), but the term is also used when someone is just playing really bad, almost as if he do it on purpose ;p) This is kind of hype video for the LEC (League of Legends European Championship) play-offs, so there are also many references to the teams and players. Those 4 other people are casters and hosts for the LEC, so it's even more impressive that they are rapping so good ;p
The premise is that each one of them represents one of the teams that made it to the play-offs and just banter each other ;p
The rivarly between EU and NA is like a meme at this point, because those regions are really similair, but EU doing slightly better at international level, EU has one Worlds title and 3 second places and NA hasn't been in the final even once, 3 years ago NA team and EU team have met in the final of the socond most important turnament in the world and EU won 3-0. NA is the region that pays the most to the players, which was also pointed out in the video ;p But this is kind of a "losers rivarly" anyway, becase Korea and China dominate xD NA+EU are often referred to as "the west", so it's more of friendly banters between them than any hard feelings and when the team form one of this two regions play against a korean or chinese team the other region usually cheering for them.
The four major regions are Korea, China, Eu and Na. Only na has never won world's. The last international tournament Eu won was 2019 with g2 beating team liquid in the fastest international best of 5 ever. Na is the worst of the major regons.
Finally your games are INTeresting. INT stands for inting is a word ,which in league of legends is used a lot to describe bad games or bad plays overall.
Sometimes, in my darker moments, I wonder what would happen if someone pissed off Dan Bull enough for him to drop an actual diss song that he really meant from the most lightless depths of his heart. Because I believe that if he really, truly *meant* it, he'd be a legitimate problem for pretty much anybody.
The LEC is renowned for its production quality and content within the league of legends scene, most of their songs are packed with references to the game, famous player, events or memes In the community. Drakos (Going first) and Vedius (the guy who switched up the flow) were at the helm of turning LEC content in what we see today alongside the other casters (live commentators of league games) and Analysts to make something that nowadays just screams EU league of legends.
That rustage frame is literally perfect for a meme 😂
I was just remarking that this battle cypher was the most fun cypher I may have ever heard and although I'm not nearly familiar with the LEC or LOL I know a diss track when I hear it. I'd really love to hear more cypher roasts!

Only Dan bull and rustage are rappers on this. The others are just the stream casters and stuff. They all represented a qualified team and threw shots at the top players and teams.

LEC stands for League European Championship. Basically the esports scene of the european league of legends server. This video is a promotion for the playoffs that are taking place right now. Fun thing is that except for rustage and Dan Bull the rest are all analysts, commentators or hosts for everything LEC. During coverage of the games they are fairly serious and are very good at their job while in these kinds of promotion videos they let loose and show a whole other side of themselves. Makes me respect them even more. In the end they show that they are normal people who can aslo have fun from time to time. Apart from their talent of course because they really aren't that bad.
About the 15 years ago and rapping part: as a white dude I can tell you Eminem Happened. He might not be the best rapper of all time i don't know, but he's probably one of the most influential in the scene. Back in the day when I grew up, Rock = white ppl music, Rap = black ppl music. In the 90's a couple of white rappers showed up with varied succes (Vanilla Ice, limpbizkit and ofc Eminem). There where also some demons perfoming dark sorcery according to critics back then, by trying to combine rock with rap. (Limp Bizkit/Linkin Park)
I think EM was the first rapper to me that I could feel his emotions in a track. And that is something I usually look for in a song most Rock is based upon feelings and how to deal with them. It is a very emotional music genre. Hearing 50 cent rapping about money and bitches left me cold. But Eminem kinda opened the door for white people to rap and hiphop. Over the years rap became bigger because it wasn't a music genre that only black people would listen to. It inspired people from all walks of life, all the skin colours, to listen to it, to perform it.
I believe every music genre has it's own set criteria of that needs to be fulfilled to be good, knowing what these criteria are, is key to enjoying different style's of music. The concept of flow took me an embarrassing amount of time to learn, and now the song about money and bitches has a nice flow to it (imo).
The LEC is the League of Legends European Championship and has made a habit of producing high level musical content.
Wildfire, Crown as well as several Mediocre Rap Battles of the LEC are outstanding and definitely worth a watch

"Targa on a roam gonna show you what this pyke bout". Reference to G2 Targamas, a player who won the last split in lec with the character pyke.
"Flakked get to cracking, gonna make this one a blowout.". Reference to G2 Flakked. The blow out line refers to how G2 beat every team convincingly from their lower bracket run.
"Rabbits past their prime, sold their spot looking sullen". Reference to the team Misfits who have a rabbit as their mascot. They've recently sold their spot in LEC.
"Better call me Edward cause I'm shining when I'm cullin" Reference to "the culling" one of the abilities of the character Lucian in league.
"Freddie on the draft baby that ain't falco"(my favorite line of the cypher.) Double entendre here. Reference to the very famous melee commentary clip "that ain't Falco", which is referenced in the following lines. Also a Reference to G2 coach Dylan Falco and RGE coach Freddie123.
"BB dance around you with those happy feet". Reference to player G2 Brokenblade(BB), a player known for his impressive dodging ability. Also continuing with the melee Reference with "happy feet".
"Call it wombo #5 when your ass get beat". Reference to the song Mambo #5, as Vedius uses the flow of that song in the next few bars. Also a Reference to "wombo combo" a term used when a team used a bunch of aoe abilities together.
Rustage (Misfits Gaming)
"And they put the mid into mid lane, that's cuz they wanted to be Faker but then took the name literally." Reference to G2 Caps, a player who recently played against T1 Faker at MSI and lost 3-0.
"Zanzarah when we face we make them pay taxes". Reference to MSF player Zanzarah and the league jargon of "taxing" which is when a player takes some gold away from his teammate after helping them. [tbh I think it's because he's known for playing skarnar and it's usuall to buy a specific item against him so he "taxes" you by having to buy that item and not advance your core items]
"AP in my veins the way I flow magic" Reference to the term Ability Power(AP) which increases your magic damage.
"Shine bright like Neon when we're introduced" Reference to player MSF Neon.
"We be playing like Hikaru we predict your moves" Reference to Hikaru Nakamura, a very popular chess player who is currently under the contract of Misfits.
[ohh about the NA bar NA is known to be the weakest of the 4 major regions that's why they are free to beat]
"Call him Irrelevant, thats how he leaving teams" Reference to player MSF Irrelevant(yes he willingly chose this to be his name).
"Becuz we turning all our rookies into MVP's" Reference to MSF Vetheo, the MVP of the Spring split while only being in his 2nd year.
"Don't forget who challenged SKT" Reference to the Korean team SK Telecom(now known as T1) who Misfits played against at worlds and had a very close series but ultimately lost 3-2.(SKT went on to win the world championship)
Vedius (Fnatic)
"Not a broken component that canceled his career". Reference to Caedrel(XL's rapper) who was a pro player b4 retiring. Also a Reference to a very infamous league clip/commentary where Caedrel "cancels" one of his abilities.
"You only excel at wasting my time" Reference to the team Excel that vedius is battling against.
"They just froze, they choked with their own hands". Reference to Rogue, a team infamously known for choking come playoff time.
Caedrel (Excel)
It should be noted that Caedrel both played for and is still contracted with Excel which is why he was chosen to rap their part.
"Let's set the scene its 2018, Caedrel cancel a meme" Reference to the previously mentioned above "caedrel cancelled it" meme.
"Stack your tear, in your deathbed, while youre hugging onto fia" Reference to the item tear of the goddess, an item that progressively gives you more maximum mana.
"Doom vs. Markoon yeah it's clear you bout to be" Reference to XL player Markoon.
"Upset gonna choke its time to call the referee" Reference to fnatic player Upset.
"Pause hack won't save you when we ban Zeri" Reference to the infamous fnatic pause hack,where fnatic call for a pause in a high intensity situation to get the upper hand on their opponents. Also reference to Zeri, a league character(played by Upset) that fnatic have a lot of success with. [tbh caling this a hack is a bit biased they had relativly valid resonse to pause but fine as a meme i guesse and I thinks it's a meme in the comunity]
Megan Thee Sjokz (MAD Lions)
"Now the back to back baby, suck on that" Last year MAD Lions won both summer and spring splits in Eu.
"Caps and Jankos looking like a washed last dance" Comparing G2 players Caps and Jankos to basketball's Jordan and Pippen.
"Humanoid loves to die hes just a freebie." Reference to Fnatic member Humanoid, a player on MAD Lions the previous year and has significantly looked worse.
"Larssen getting shit on hope he's good at ingesting" Reference to Rouge player Larssen.
"Finally your games are INTeresting" Pun for league jargon. "Int" is short for "intentionally feed" used when a player is making very silly mistakes.
"Shurima Shuffle? You need a Heimlich maneuver" Shurima Shuffle is a term in league where one uses a character's(Azir) ultimate to push the enemy team into their own.
"Now Armut's Gnar thats a side diff" Reference to MAD Armut and one of his best characters(Gnar). Armut plays in the top lane which is one of the side lanes. "Side diff" is essentially saying that he played much better than the enemy.
"Elyoya, on his king shit, mid gank leashless" Reference to MAD elyoya, the "leader"/"captain" for MAD.
Dan Bull (Rogue)
"Odo gangplanking your tanks, no parrrley" Reference to the character gangplank(a pirate) and odo is short for Odoamne, a player for Rogue. Parrrley is also one of Gangplanks abilities.
"You sank in the ranks, Malrang showed you the hard way" Reference to the player Malrang, a Korean import who very quickly became one of the best players in the league at his role.
"It's been a slow climb, let's call it Rogue time" Rogue are incredibly well known for choking in high pressure situations, so much so that the community refers to it as "Rogue time"
"Not polyamorous but then again I will, take all 5 of you out pentakill" League games are played most commonly as 5v5s so not only is Dan Bull mentioning the other 5 rappers, hes also mentioning the event that occurs when one player in league kills the entire enemy team. "

NA has a big fat 0 in the championship numbers - everyone memes on it as NA is by far the weakest major region and has to massively import players to stay at least somewhat competetive - EU pro's often go to NA as a "retirement plan" - they can play a few more years after they start falling off and they get overpaid massively for it

Yeah, NA (as in North America) is a joke of a region, hence the "Americans are free to beat line" and other NA related lines in this.
Dw about the americans line, its not about america in general, but the LCS( the american league of legends pro league) is concidered one of the worst thats why " free to beat" like free win playing against them.
The LEC is the European competitive league of legends league. The LCS is the american league. The LCS has not won worlds since well, fucking forever. The LEC actually might win worlds. But most of the time both Eu and Na lose to Korea and China. It's just that NA sucks. We struggle to make it past the first stage of worlds. A few years back NA's 1st place team didn't win a single game at worlds.
INTing is short for "Intentionally Feeding"
If your team pisses you off and you give up but you can't surrender you can run into the enemy dying time after time. That's INTing. Pretty quickly the games over because you made the other team rich. "Feeding" them gold by dying to them. Saying something is INTeresting is saying that play was so bad it's like actively trying to lose the game.
Also the cast of people who weren't pro rapers were members of the LEC production staff. They host tournaments, provide analysis, do the play by play of the games, that kind of stuff. They aren't affiliated with any of the teams. In these raps though they have had consistency. The First rapper and the third rapper always represent G2 and Fnatic respectively. The girl always represents Mad Lions. It's the first appearance of Cadreal, pro player turned analyst, who represented XL in this rap. His rap is 4th in the cipher.
League of Legends is a 5v5 game, so when you kill 5 people that's the most you can possibly kill. It's the grand slam, and in this diss there are 6 teams, dan bull says he's gonna take all 5 of them out, all the others, for a penta kill, the best a team can do.
Which actually happened in the second game Rogue, the team he rapped for, played today. (They won the series against Mad Lions, "the angry little kitty cats" today.) Both are still in it for the championship but hey talk prophetic
