  • @denisruskin348
    @denisruskin348 2 ปีที่แล้ว +175

    60ish fps on that 5700G is insane. Obviously it's FSR 2.0 on Ultra Perfomance but 2.0 is such a massive jump from 1.0 that it's somewhat usable. And if you wanted, you could put the game on medium, FSR on Balanced and lock on 30fps.

    • @steel5897
      @steel5897 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yeah FSR 2.0 is crazy good. I was a strong critic of FSR 1.0 and got quite angry at people even pretending it was remotely worthy of being a DLSS alternative, but even I have to admit FSR 2.0 is an incredible improvement and DOES deserve the title of a proper DLSS alternative.

      @Mostly_Positive_Reviews 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@tralphstreet Yeah, both use temporal upscaling now, instead of spatial, but Nvidia still has dedicated cores for this, where AMD does not. All in all, DLSS is a little bit better in the games that support it, but FSR is more widely available and works on almost all GPUs, which is a huge bonus. It might not necessarily make people switch from nvidia to AMD, because as I said, it works on most GPUs, but it is very good tech from AMD, and I think most people appreciate that.

    It would be interesting to know if it's really the internal resolution that's bottlenecking the iGPU. It could also be the geometry that's too complex even on low settings.
    One way to test it would be to increase resolution (or use higher quality FSR) to see if performance degrades or stays relatively the same.
    It would be a shame having to put up with a blurry af output if it's not the bottleneck.

      I think the CPU makers have noted the absolute disaster of mining and the impact on users not being able to upgrade and suspect iGPU is likely the future of CPU's as it puts everyone on an even foot and everyone can buy at a sensible price rather than paying ludicrous prices for mining shagged out cards that blow up fairly quickly on unsuspecting punters, AMD have always leaned towards the customer, nVidia tend to like to gouge when possible.

    I think one aspect of FSR 2.0 that most people haven't really put their thoughts into it is the fact that it uses your GPU compute unit to process the upscaling. Some games may actually exhibits performance degradation when turning on FSR 2.0 on a low end hardware because on most of low end hardware. GPU is usually the bottleneck, especially when playing a graphically demanding game. Make sure that if you want to turn on FSR 2.0, you ended up with performance gain. I say this because some people might turn on FSR 2.0 because they convinced that it is a performance win, thus not test the game with FSR 2.0 off.
    The 2nd aspect of FSR 2.0 or any reconstruction technique for that matter that is really important but often not emphasized enough is that the higher FPS you have, the better the reconstruction algorithm can do its magic. Most only emphasized about resolution, cited that on lower resolution it is less effective, which is true, but FPS actually played a bigger role than resolution. The way reconstruction work is that it uses previous frames data to reconstruct a better quality image than its internal resolution. Imagine 60 FPS vs 30 FPS on a fast paced scene. The previous frame on a 30 FPS game will be twice further than a 60 FPS game, thus it can end up being unusable for reconstruction. If you target 30 FPS on a fast paced game like Spiderman, I think it is better to just use spatial upscaling like FSR 1.0 (if that is an option of course) or just run the game at lower resolution. Yes, you do get the benefit of better image quality when you're standing still, but once you move, everything breaks down. And of course, if it is FSR 2.0, then it is likely that on a lower end GPU or iGPU, it will be GPU limited, thus you probably have a lot more performance win by just running the game at lower resolution than using FSR, and in motion there won't be that much difference in image quality.
    TL;DR make sure to test a game at native resolution vs just turning on FSR 2.0, especially on a lower end hardware, and especially true if you target 30 FPS, because turning on FSR 2.0 is not always going to yield a performance and image quality win. This is also partially true for DLSS. The difference is that DLSS will always have a performance win even when using the lowest end Nvidia GPU that is DLSS capable, since the hardware processing DLSS is separate and actually unused when you don't use DLSS on current games.

    Suggestion for you, I notice you never mention this.... but right clicking your games exe and going to compatibility tab you'll see a checkbox labelled "disable fullscreen optimizations" what this does by default while unchecked is basically makes the game run fullscreen windowed without you realizing it. Enable this checkbox and you get a noticable performance improvement. Recently by doing this and both going into Radeon Settings and turning off or setting things to best perfomance i've helped people on the game i play go from 720p low settings to 1080p medium settings. Optimizing your experience is a must! I can almost guarantee you'd easily get a smooth 30fps by doing at least the exe trick. Worth mentioning in another video. If you haven't tried it please do. I used to do this for all my GPU's when i ran Windows but i'm on Linux now so thankfully DXVK (Vulkan) gives me better performance out the box than DirectX would. When using an AMD GPU *ALWAYS* use Vulkan as the renderer when possible. Also,Nvidia Control Panel can be optimized in the same way as Radeon Settings as well.
    I hope this either helps you out or someone who reads this!
    I've been a subscriber for about 6 years or so now maybe 5. Glad i stumbled across your content the day i did. Looking forward to the next video!

      @@peters.7428 while what you stated is true I don't think it actually makes a difference or makes the 3050 a better option given that they're priced the same , for example drivers will not be dropped anytime soon since the 10 series of gpus is still supported , so that means at least 3 more years of support . The temps and power increase is true but it shouldn't be much of a problem for a lot of rigs ( although that would depend on the case and psu bought so this could be a reason to buy the 3050 if someone didn't plan for an upgrade and they're short on money) . also about RT and AI , the 3050 isn't strong enough to handle RT and if it does it's generally low RT settings which can be hit and miss quality wise and dlss has worse image quality at 1080p which this card targets , so these feature aren't really selling points for it , although this may be different for workloads compared to gaming ( also the 2060super has a little better RT and AI performance since even though the 3050 has more mature cores , the 2060super has more of them )

    NVIDIA and AMD and even INTEL needs to start working on a new technology that is more superior and better than DLSS and FSR, something in their new future upcoming GPU's, especially those budgets cheap GPU's between a $100 and $300 so the owners of these graphic cards can enjoy new games like that without laag and with at least +60 FPS either in Medium Settings or Low Settings.
    So whenever someone doesn't have enough money to buy some expensive GPU, he would just go with a GPU that cost $100 or $150 for example the RTX 5050 and with that new GPU there's going to be a new feature called DLSS 5.0 OR PFSS that allows that GPU to scale much better in demanding games without losing any image quality and plays with more than 60 FPS in 1080p and even 1440p if the game is well optimized. So everyone can be good and happy with decent smooth gameplay. (Those who owns superior medium and high end GPU's of course they going to have more VRam and more FPS in-games compared to those with lower budget GPU's, the goal here is we want everyone to enjoy 60 FPS and more in every single game, there's no more stuttering and there's no more laaging, and there's no more 30 FPS and 20 FPS in games)

It's very demanding and I'm surprised I am able to get over 60fps stable. So yeah people need to account for this. Idk when it became people expecting with any setup to be able to use maxed put settings that isn't console level performance so people shouldn't expect to be able to do that and then say it's not optimized well lol. So I agree with you it's optimized well.
