    Gotta Love Old Busch Stadium and the AstroTurf covering the base mounds. Just like at The Vet, Riverfront, and Three Rivers Stadium's back in 1982.

    Was at that game in frozen St. Louis. Eventual league MVP Mark Moseley accounted for ALL Washington points in a tight 12-7 win over my Cardinals. And yes, DC was on their way too as the eventual Super Bowl winner. 🏈

    "We'll have all that and more. On The NFL Today!" She was a big part of my Sunday afternoons as a child. This was the gold standard for pregame shows. She was a pioneer for women in the business and won't soon be forgotten. RIP Phyllis George

      I feel exactly the same as you do. I grew up watching The NFL Today and Phyllis was a joy to watch. A beautiful, intelligent and classy lady. I will never forget her. RIP Phyllis and thoughts and prayers to her family.

      @@jasonklose3318 Little did we know that we were watching history every Sunday. I hated to learn of how she was treated. Boxes of hate mail from the old boys club sexists hell bent on stopping any woman from getting inside their circle.
      She had several last laughs though. She helped win them an Emmy. People still try to emulate her interviewing skills. All the women in sports media since have her to thank. She made it possible for women to be even considered for such a job. Hard to believe with all of them around today that 45 years ago there was only 1.

    • @jasonklose3318
      @jasonklose3318 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, she was a real professional. I assume you're a Cowboys fan. Of course Phyllis was, and everyone knew it. Her being from Texas. But she didn't show it in such a biased way as so many commentators do today on these shows. I can't stand to watch any of these so-called sports pregame shows anymore. Even Irv Cross in a fairly recent interview expressed his dislike for them. But he still watches the games somewhat.I also remember watching the Cowboys-Rams wildcard game in 1983 when they talked to Phyllis from her home in the pregame. I was 10 years old. She was holding her newborn daughter Pamela, who is now a correspondent for CNN. I will never forget that.

      @@jasonklose3318 Yes I am. I liked her more because of it. LOL. Even Brent Musburger
      tweeted that people in DC, NY and Philly still liked her despite her bias. She wasn't fake. Never tried to pretend or hide it. She was genuine.

    That Chargers at 49ers game reminds me of the Bills at 49ers game in 1992 where it was back and forth scoring by both teams and no punter kicked for both teams in that game

    Over on NBC on this day, we had the infamous snowplow game take place between the Dolphins and Patriots in New England with notable convicted burglar Mark Henderson clearing the field with his snowplow. The game itself finished with a 3-0 result in favor of the Pats.

    Even with all of the tech available today, none of the pregame shows hold a candle to The NFL Today with Brent, Phyllis, Irv and Jimmy the Greek. In this case, less is waaaay more.
    Talk about the Good Old Days!!

    • @daboys1215
      @daboys1215 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely. The best pregame show ever. You got more info in 30 minutes from them than you do in 3 hours from the bozos at ESPN today. They didn't scream like children either. Just all professionals. Class act. All of them.

      Pregame shows don’t have to give out information anymore, except for last-minute injury updates. You can get that yourself any time you want. Before cable TV and the internet, this was the only way you could find out anything about the teams outside your home town.
