Great singer/songwriter (and guitarist). Wrote a number of hits for others as well as himself. Check out his Grammy-winning (and powerful) hit "Games People Play" and the beautifully-sentimental "Don't It Make You Wanna Go Home." And yes, Elvis was a fan and friend. He covered Joe's songs on stage,
Joe played bass on Dylan's Blonde on Blonde album.
@@stevesullivan8705 He played bass and guitar. Rick Danko also played bass as did Charlie McCoy.
Hadn't heard this one in years! Great message that's still relevant today. Also enjoyed your comments.
I love your honest reviews from your heart! Thanks for sharing all this great music!
This man is truly great for his songs and songs he wrote for other. Games People Play is his next Social Message! Try Billie Joe Royal, "I Knew you When."' Down in the Boondock's, CherryHill Park! Lynn Anderson song, "I Never Promised You A Rose Garden."
Love Joe South..great songwriter for others too..his biggest hit was a banger which would be another great review..Games people play won a Grammyby the way
Have not heard this song in some time but the message is there for each decade. Thanks Angela
Another song from back in the day, and a good one. Joe South wrote songs for other people as well. "Rose Garden" by Lynn Anderson is another; if I'm not mistaken you reacted to that one a couple of months ago.
Thanks, Angela, for reacting to this song. It' funny that you pick up on the Elvis connection as he did a great cover of it not long after this was released. Thanks again
Don’t It Make You Wanna Go Home is my favorite Joe South song.
Besides his own hits "Games People Play" and "Don't It Make You Wanna Go Home", Joe South also wrote Top Ten hits for other artists including the #1 "Rose Garden", "Hush", "I Knew You When", "yo Yo", and "Down In The Boondocks". One the great singer songwriters.
Joe South was a prolific songwriter. He wrote so many songs but the most commercially successful song he wrote was "Rose Garden", made famous by Lynn Anderson. Went #1 around the world in 1971.
You never know what somebody has been through in their life
Games people play I knew by him , which I like and this one is I also like , an almost gospel type vibe and nice guitar-Colin Ward
One of those hidden gems folks miss. Great feel good vibe to it.
Man I haven't heard that song in years....thanks!
With The Believers is added to the single.😮
I remember when this was in the top 40, in the early 70s.
He had an album, Introspect. Many similar songs. My mother played it endlessly when I was a child
Great reaction. Suggest “Hush,” (Deep Purple)and “Games People Play” (Joe South) and “Rose Garden” (Lynn Anderson) all written by Joe. He is an under appreciated songwriter. He disappeared in the 70s because of personal tragedy and his methods of coping. RIP Joe. You will love “Games People Play.”
Angela has already reacted to Rose Garden so you may want to check that out.
You're right, marshall tucker, but that's the ones that they get
South Atlanta home folks
Been a long time since I heard that one. Thanks for that one your the best😃
Great song by a great artist!! 😊
I'm not religious but I respect people because we don't know what's going on with their lives. I say Amen to this song and your comments. Someone needs to release a new cover of this song. We need it played loud and clear across the land in 2024 and beyond. 👍✌️🙂🙏
the world needs this song today!
Essa música é muito linda, muito! E que bela mensagem 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🇧🇷
Elvis actually covered this song and recorded and performed it a lot in Las Vegas around 1970, I guess Elvis really liked it!
I was born in '68 and i NEVER heard of him or this song in my life! How is that possible? Ha!
I grew up with a radio almost constantly on in our house. I also listened to "oldies" stations too.
It's weird how some songs get "lost" over time. Its too bad. I liked it and the message. Great reaction.
This song is relevant for all generations. Amen
try this artist bertie higgins song key largo
Don't it make you want to go home is another great song by Joe
Amen sister ❤
Angela--you'd love the live version of this by ELVIS PRESLEY...great insight on his similiarity on Elvis!
Judge not lest ye be judged...and amen sister
This song so appropriate for then AND now😊
Joe South is one of the most underrated singer songwriter ever.
Totaly Agree with you
BTW, Elvis sang this song as well.
All so nice, song and review. Thank you 👏👏👏👏👏
I never heard of Joe south before but those are wise words
An okay song for me. Games People Play is better in my opinion
To be frank there were sooooo many better songs out at that time neither intrigued me no disrespect to Joe South.
my favorite songs from my childhood... the "message" songs...!!!! and this is one of the best..!!!!
Very interesting concept If we could only exchange places and perspectives for just a few moments, we'd understand and empathize with each other a whole lot😊🎨more than we do now Then we'd all be on the same 📄 📃 page progressing 🛣️forward towards our amazing future Goodbye
Angela, you’re awesome. So glad you get to enjoy music from my youth. Class of ‘78.
