  • Presented in 4K UHD! In June and July of 2017, I made a 3 week visit to Toronto, Ontario in Canada. In this video, we take a visit to Bayview Junction in Burlington, Ontario! CN's Bayview Junction is a very popular train watching location, and a major rail hub for the CN and CP rail network in Southern Ontario. CN has the Grimsby Sub, Dundas Sub, and Oakville Sub all converging and meeting here at Bayview Jct. On the other side of the junction, CP runs the Hamilton Subdivision between Buffalo and Guelph Junction through Bayview Junction. However, the rail traffic from CP is far less than from CN.
    Featured here are various CN freight trains, VIA Rail Canada Corridor trains, GO Trains, and Amtrak's Maple Leaf. Also threw in a clip of the Southern Ontario Railway passing through the west side of Bayview heading to their switching duties in nearby Brantford. Newer power is mainly seen here, but caught an awesome CN "Blue Devil" unit one of the days I visited Bayview! Also caught a funky consist on CN 148, with a couple of CN Business Cars in tow! I visited Bayview a total of 4 times during my visit to the Toronto area - I look forward to returning soon!!
    Known for not only the the busy freight and passenger train action, but the scenic and peaceful train watching location, Bayview Junction is known wide and far as Ontario and Canada's premier train watching location. Once a year, the annual Bayview Junction railfan meetup occurs, usually in late June or early July. I had the opportunity to attend along with about two dozen or so other railfans from the Ontario area.
    Stay tuned all month for even more videos from the Toronto area!
    Thanks for watching! Enjoy!

      The one with no CN logo most likely was in a collision or derailment, it got its nose replaced and hasn't gotten the CN logo
      The blue CN locomotive is an Illinois Central locomotive, it eventually got the CN logo when IC was purchased by CN
      The CN train pulling passengers cars is just a equipment move to somewhere
      The CN locomotive with the door open is because the locomotive most likely doesn't have an AC inside

    Hi all,
    I am visiting Toronto in September 2020 and wouldn't mind a trip here, what is the closest rail station? Is it Burlington which I can see is 8 or 9 stops out of Union Station, or somewhere completely different
    Regards
    Rob

    • @OntarioTrafficMan
      @OntarioTrafficMan 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is filmed at the Spring Gardens pedestrian bridge. The closest station is Aldershot but it's a 5 km walk from there so you'd probably want to take the Route 1/101 Plains Road bus from Burlington Station instead.
      If you're interested in passenger trains, the best time to visit is between 17:03 and 19:03 on weekdays, in which time you can see 7 GOs, 3 VIAs and an Amtrak. Outside of rush hour, passenger service through the junction is pretty minimal.
