I think the one missing feature in this line of trucks is the panoramic sunroof. This is such an awesome feature and feels like a big oversight for a truck as luxury-focused as the higher trimmed Sierras.
Aesthetically, GM hit this design out of the park.
WAY better than that new hideous Tundra
Everyone can have different tastes, because to me it looks like one of the Chevy designers helped with that grill, and Imo could have been one of nicest looking, if not for that top part that I can't tell if it's part of the grill or hood, just a bit too much, makes it could have been great to a mis for me. A neighbor down the road has a 2500 Denali in white, with black wheels and looks leveled, I admire it every time I pass by, to me it looks great.
Will add I like the improved interior, only little thing are the center vents are a bit odd to me, but a nice step overall.

I actually love the new start/stop button and it’s new location in the cabin, this is a even more intuitive compartment than before. I love that they got rid of the black plastic circle and went with a high quality trapezoid shape metal button. It’s very luxurious and looks nice with the horizontal flow in the rest of the dash.
You guys should have way more subscribers because you really pay attention to detail and I can appreciate that.
This show is the reason I went with the gmc at4. I wanted the AT4X but I also really wanted the standard bed, and the Duramax diesel. I was disappointed the AT4X only had the gas and short bed. I paid for AT4 today and can’t wait for it to be delivered
First of all, TFL does the best job, IMO, of explaining and differentiating the different trim levels on all trucks. As a 70 yr old retiree driving a 2010 Silverado, I may be looking to replace it this year. I do not need off-road capability, and a 2” lift makes it more difficult for my wife to get in and out. But, the AT-4/Trailboss does look better and has some features that I would like to have. For one, I want the capability to tow 10,000 lbs, if we get a travel trailer. The same holds for the other brands. However, not your fault, the prices for these trucks may cause me to go used. Keep up the good work.
My family’s had two GMC Sierra’s. One 2019 Denali, 2020 AT4 and both have had quality control issues. The dealership for both took care of the issues under warranty but it’s a little concerning to me. That was before Covid, and now I would imagine it would even worse. I also wonder with the chip shortage what features will be taken out.
@@shayjohnson5830 If that was the case they wouldn’t have been taken care of *under warranty.* Shut up.
The chip shortage wont lead to features being removed, it will just lead to slower production rate.
@@masterhaha1 That's not true. GMC has already removed features because of the chip shortage. A small example is removing the temperature from the knobs that control the HVAC.

I think they should have called the Denali Ultimate the Deanli "Summit". Would have went with the mountain/park theme.

You do great work. I’m a Tundra owner, but respect the GMC trucks. My neighbor has a Duramax and have extensive time in it. Good truck, but long term is my issue with it. Been in the shop a lot in only two years.
I don’t think this is true, did you watch their series with their Trail Boss? Tundras are trucks for city Prius drivers. Toyota royalist.
How can it be a good truck but not last for a long term?
@@mbukukanyau possibly for some, but mine gets loaded up and pulls often. I don’t need to tow more than 8000lbs. I take my Subaru, when I hit the city.

How about adding:
1. Rear hvac controls and vents on side
2. Heated and cooled rear seats
3. Air suspension
4. Soft close doors
5. 4 wheel steering
6. Powered tailgate
7. More power
8. supportive seats
Why 4 wheel steering, soft close doors , or more power? Power seems plentiful and those two features you added will drive the price through the roof.
Who sits in the back of a pick up truck?
Wait till your air suspension blows and youll never own it again.

GM has had supportive seats at least since 2019. I agree about the rear cooled seats and rear hvac controls, though.
I want a basic, simple, hard working truck. Keep the Hollywood flash. Take me back to the 60s.
Around 35:00 You guys finally got it. GM isn't interested in Raptor/TRX competition. 35" and bigger tires , seriously compromise, fuel economy, towing and payload. GM knows that there is a significant market of people that want an Offroad capable truck, but can still tow well, haul well and be a good daily driver.
Remember GM had to double Trailboss building capacity due to huge demand. AT4s before covid, never stayed on the lot for long.
My only wish was is that GM offers the front locker as an option on the Trailboss and Standard AT4.
Problem is Ford now has the Tremor and Ram has had the Rebel for a real long time. Those are definitely capitalizing on marketshare as GM stays complacent with lazy engine choices and options.
@@OneOneNineFilms Rebel is no competition to the ZR2 or AT4X. Tremor barely is, only a 1" lift. Ford standard shocks, one locker. Nothing like , the DSSV shocks.
The 6.2L is hardly lazy. Still fastest non super charge truck on the market.

@@arkhsm The ZR2 won't cost anywhere near 74k. I very much doubt the Tremor will be able to do what either the ZR2 or AT4X will do.
@@terrencejones9817 The 6.2L with GM's performance package will keep right up with a Raptor. Heck, my 2019 High Country with Corsa Exhaust and S&B Cold Air Intake is neck in neck with a Raptor. Now a TRX is what I would like in a SRT street truck version. GM missed an opportunity to make another SS sport truck with the Camaro ZL1 motor. Not everyone wants a lifted truck with large knobby tires that is never used off road.

Yeah I drive a fully decked out 21 AT4 and even after 20k down it still costs like $900 a month. Lots of ramen😂

I got a 21 AT4 Rocky Ridge with 6” lift 20” rims on 35s amp research steps Fox shocks fender flares and after 30k down it still runs me $900 a month. I personally like the body style on the 21 better but clearly the interior is supreme with the 22
I have or had 3 kids. I sold the two I disliked and that allowed me to pay cash for my 2022 Sierra AT4. Unfortunately im new to GMC and didn't realize the 22 I bought was not the new AT4X. Anyways, my last remaining kid better pack their shit because they are next👀

There is getting too much tech in these trucks now. For me it’s a reason for more stuff to go wrong and raises the prices on these trucks it’s like having a second mortgage payment.
Idk man, my father-in-law’s best friend is a contractor for custom homes and bought a fully loaded 3500 a few years back with all the bells and whistles and that dude beats that vehicle up at both job sites and fall hunting trips with quite a bit of mileage on forest roads and it still seems as luxurious and capable as ever despite a few dents and chipped paint spots. Seat warmings, cameras, and remote car start all seem to still be just fine etc.
Unfortunately, the market is demanding this. Look how crucified GM was over their functional but not "pretty" interior. Remember...ONLY an 8 inch screen...how dare they. :)
One of the reasons I bought a 2021 Tundra. Something to say about simplicity. Plus the Tundra is known for QDR.
It would be awesome to be able to use the remote parking feature where the vehicle can drive forward and backward with the key fob, except offroad in hairy situations where you need to spot yourself and maybe it's not safe to be in the vehicle (edge of a cliff or roll over situation on rocks). Next level offroad tech opportunity with the one pedal driving and remote parking feature combined.
the front grill is awesome.. this is where the tundra choked.. the sierra was my fav truck but i couldnt get over the interior.. now the Sierra for me is the best truck on the market and is what i would buy
@Bruce Smith ya the lights are too small on the tundra.. it has no bumper.. the grill just goes all the way down. it just ruins the whole truck for me.. could have been a great truck.. the new sierra grill is a beauty
Love the GMC truck. Great podcast. A side note, the drive by wire shifter (electronic) gives the engineers and designers more latitude, but as the throttle pedal (drive by wire) can cause headaches as the vehicle ages. Keep up the good work!

Finally an interior that is really fresh looking. Ram has had brilliant interiors for a long time and Ford has just upgraded as well, and now this is on par with both of them now.
The fact that it’s towing a plane tells me all I need to know about price point 😳

I think the reason why they didn't put big wheels and tyres, they didn't want it as wide as the trx or the raptor to make it more moveable on narrow tracks.
Fuel economy, if with government regulations of average fleet mpg ever mpg matters.

I think that the GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X is the best 1/2 ton truck as long as you can swallow the price tag. If I had that money laying around, I would have a tough time choosing between this one and the Raptor.
No one can afford that price tag unless they're writing off on a business. You would just as soon buy a nice Mercedes or Porsche unless you're using it for work daily.
@@raddadization The problem with the rising car/truck pricing is that everything is going up, and people start accepting the higher prices, rushing to buy these expensive vehicles because they think that the prices will go even higher, which ironically go higher because the dealers sell everything they have for the price they ask.
GM did a great job interior and exterior unlike tundra copied the look of 2019-2021 AT4 Sierra
Did you know the current Chevy/GMC truck look alot like Toyota Tundra look at the door rocket panel have the same brake can't face the true

my 2000 pontiac Bonneville SSEi had HUD(heads up display) it was awesome!!!
Was planning on a new Sierra in 2020, then Covid. Then thought well 2021 maybe, then Delta and supply chain. Maybe 2022 with the Supercruise would be worth the wait. Hell, my '07 SLT only has 177,000 miles on it so no big hurry luckily. I'll wait.
Insane amount of views , also an insane pricing for a half ton. The Ultimate is close if not over 80k out of their tree!
Part of me thinks that manufactures that still have V8s will charge a premium, especially with Ca plan to phase them out.

I agree with both of these guys inner children. The at4x needs to be the model that is a little unruly; bigger tires, wide-body, etc. the regular at4 already checks the box of off-road capability while still being classy. You don’t need two different trims for that.

Those 22" wheels have been out as an option for about 3 years now. (22" Chevy Silverado | GMC 1500 OEM Black Elevation Wheels available since 2020).

Am I the only one who wishes the AT4X could be optioned with the 3L Duramax?
I like the new GM trucks just have huge concerns with quality and reliability. Have had many of my buddies with GM trucks have so many issues. Also looks like they have priced out most average buyers. Sure they have some cool new ideas and options but man, who the hell can afford one of these higher trim level trucks. Sorry, I want to retire some day....it is like taking on another mortgage payment.
Will have to be impressive in every aspect before the general gets my money ever again.
Overprice and under-reliable. I owned Sierra once but never again, until they can prove themselves capable of producing reliable trucks again. If I were buying one, I'd be spraying down that back glass hard with water to make sure it's not leaking weekly.
I currently own a 2020 AT4 loaded hard. 3.0L, Brembos, Carbon Pro.
My complaint on the X is no offering of the diesel, no offering of the carbon bed. I get why the large brakes are not an option and hindsight I wish I did not option them.
Maybe you guys could provide some insight why no diesel option and no carbon pro? My guess on the gas only option would be for throttle response off road or maybe it’s the one pedal driving…
Lastly, they should have put more thought in the front approach angle. The front bumper on the GMC AT4X does not hold a candle to the Chevrolet Silverado ZR2.
I'm dying to see this interior added to the HD trucks.

Good job GM. Will current lifter problems plaguing GM be addressed? I do have an 07 Sierra with 323k miles. 4.8. No issues. You see GM, you can have a 300k mile vehicle. I would buy this truck. Will keep watching.

I was just telling a buddy the other day ford, gm, dodge, or any vehicle manufacture should produce a basic no thrills truck. Like 80's 90's tech roll up windows either carb or fuel injection optional. Normal tach gauges. Locking hub or floor shifter upgrade lol. 🤔 Wishful thinking but it would be great.
they do produce this exact truck you are talking about but they dont offer them here in the usa and its illegal to import them unless they are 25 years or older.

About the 8 speed gearbox could it be that with a smaller engine the 10 speed would end up "searching" a lot. I have heard guys with the smaller engine Rangers complain about the 10 speed automatic being unsure at times about which setting it should be in
I have 2 questions about the Super Cruise control. Will it be available on any trim level of the Chevy? Does it have accident avoidance technology like the Tesla seems to have? I have heard of people driving their Tesla, and the accident avoidance system kicked in to do its thing faster than the driver could react. Super cool technology.
Sweet looking trucks I love the new look. I am a owner of a 2020 Elevation and love the look, really would like to see the new look on those.
The 2020 GMC had that style of led lights already. When the new F-150 came out I was saying they look like the GMC.

Based on what? I have 28k on my 2020 Sierra, no major issues.
I own a 2020 Silverado RST. It was a demo and had 22's in satin black and a Katskins leather package installed. Been an awesome truck, really happy with the 5.3 10 speed combination. I have a 2022 High Country on order. I've had zero issues with my truck, GM gets alot of heat but from where I sit their trucks are great.
GMC used to be advertised as the professional grade pickup truck. Someone like you said, that needed to take clients to off grid places in comfort. I've been a fan of GMC for quite a while. Owning a few of them in the past, plus owning a incline 5 2012 Canyon currently currently.
I own a Tundra and wouldn't trade for two Denali's . I value long term usage and don't want to pay 60 to 90 k for a truck that's shot at a 130k miles. All the Cheney / GMC's I have been in have plenty of loose rattles. I have two in laws with Duromaxs and three with Ford F150's . I prefer my Tundra over all of them !
Plenty of Chevys over 200k. Mine is 195k and going strong

@@richfarfugnuven6308 bought one GM car. Six weeks later it burned in a parking lot because I was foolish enough to attempt to start the engine to drive home from work.
Faulty intake gaskets and leaky injectors are apparently somewhat common on engines with 90,000 miles.
Who knew?
I'll never buy another GM product.
@@mikejacob3536 bought a Ford 6.0L Powerstroke, spent about 20k bulletproofing it. Injectors got stiction, turbo failed, fuse block fried itself, FICM failed on and on and on. Still have that old Excursion as I love it. I don't get butt hurt, I just fix it and move along.
@@richfarfugnuven6308 it's not "butt hurt" to recognize that in the past twenty years the quality of American auto manufacturers has absolutely tanked. The closest thing to a decent American car I've owned in that time is, believe it or not, a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan that's still a daily driver in my family, with 195k miles and less than $500 of repairs, (not counting consumables like brakes and oil changes), in the 7+ years I've owned it. It's rusty, and it shows it's age, but it starts and runs through even the worst Wisconsin weather.
AT4X seems awesome. However, why won’t GM do a fully loaded off road truck…I.e. super cruise on the AT4. I want full luxury with off road ability!

Agreed. Everyone seems to have gone crazy over the price tag of the Ultimate. Yes, 80k for a truck sounds stupid, but the Ultimate's intentions were not to be the "affordable" trim. Its literally a fully loaded top of the line Denali, plus some more. I'm not necessarily justifying the price, but I'm not surprised either. A decently equipped regular Denali I think will be enough, not only for what people want, but to still compete against the rest within a lower, more "affordable" price range as some would say...
@@dallasfrost1996 Yeah, your right. I believe Andre said the standard Denali is going to be around $61k. I love the interior of the Ultimate. It is now better than the RAM and Ford.
@@rondail5675 The Ultimate Definitely is at the top. Better than Ford, but I have to say the Ram still is very good. It's now a battle between Ram and GMC I think.
I work at GMC and we are currently working on a super high end trim called Rock Hard.

The gmc Sierra Denali ultimate is still messing panoramic sunroof and air suspension.
It has adaptive ride control, no air suspension needed. Sunroofs are dumb. They always leak.
It's a game changer alright. No heated or cooled seats except for the 2 most expensive models. Will be getting our deposit back on the refresh AT4 we wanted to build. :(
For those equipped with the electrically controlled lockers, what is the rear axle configuration when they aren't locked?
Is it an open diff or has GM set them up with limited slip capability?
One thing I appreciate about the G80 in my past three trucks is that it is always available. If I'm being assertive with the throttle, it's nice to know, at least for me, that both rear tires are going to bite in and work together to move the truck in the manner I'm expecting.
Its sad but good that it took the Dodge Ram to raise the bar on the interior before GM finally took it seriously. GM and their love of plastic was forced, through loss of sales to Dodge, to finally upgrade its interior quality....and upgrade they did, well done GM.
I just hope they add heat and a pop-out umbrella to that tailgate so people can at least stay warm and dry when they're pushing that beast! Great looking truck though, it'll make a fine yard ornament.

That's the Very Best place You could have a trailer brake. Great Job GM. So simple... Yet so much better and Safer.
One other thing regarding when you guys said GM’s made Heads Up Displays for years; my best friend’s first car when we were in high school had this and that vehicle was from the very early 2000’s/possibly late 90’s. I can’t recall if it was a Saturn or Chevy however but it was a pretty basic little red car
GM used to own the company Hughes that made these heads up electronics systems for aircraft. The pontiac bonneville had the heads up display back in the 70s

@@clintgolub1751 I just looked on Wikipedia and they say yes. Howard Hughes Medical Institute sold the aircraft business to GM. They also bounced to General Dynamics which brought us the Tomahawk Cruise Missile and Stinger Missile etc. They have been bouncing around. They did satellites and part of that went to DirecTV. Part of the company merged with Delco which made the radios in GM cars and then that became Delphi. It’s crazy path to follow.

The placement for GMC trims that are being reviewed here doesn't take account for the secret Sierra EV. So there will be additional trim overlap on both Pro and Denali levels.
Love the exterior look, but am waiting to see if the refreshed interior will be available with a 40/20/40 seat in the lower trims.
It will with the cloth seat bench/column shifter combo, at least in the Silverado LT it will.

If GM would just re-badge the ultimate to be a Cadillac product I think it would sell better. GMC topping out with the Dinali seems right and then having the Cadillac “ultimate” or whatever it would be called, would actually make it feel more special just my opinion
Absurd.........80K and Tech to break. ALL new trucks are a bad joke and bad investment at this point. I'll just keep driving my 40 year old 10K Truck that does what it HAS to without the expensive FLUFF.
New trucks aren't investments.....they are toys for money that won't be missed.....
Sounds like a good plan. Can you fit plywood into the bed? I don't understand $80K for a truck and then have to buy a minivan to carry plywood...
It's definitely a good looking truck - well done GMC. I'd still be leery of GM quality at this time (based off my last GM purchase - which wasn't a good experience).

Yeah surprisingly gm has gone down hill. I hate to say it but my ram build quality I think is better than my gmcs. It what it is I guess

I love you’re channel and agree with most if not all you’re assessments on the trucks that you evaluate and after working in the automotive and heavy trucks fields for over 25 years it’s good to see clear and unbiased reviews though for a short period of time I thought there may have been some toward Ford trucks but great to see real full reviews are there thank you and keep up all the great work !!!

My 8L90 in my 2016 Corvette Z06 recently got the GM TSB for the triple flush with the new Mobil 1 LV ATF HP and it shifts so well. More fun to drive than my previous C6 Z06 with an M6.
I wouldnt call rearranging their trim levels game changing guys.

Lockers and DSSVs sure are. DSSVs are more advanced than any Fox set up.

Still don’t see full moon roof , Ford had it first , had 2017 and 2021 , with live front axle and hubs can’t beat that ever
Correct. These GMs are total POS's. I've had Chevy all my life (6 trucks) and after how bad these were built I'll NEVER Buy one ever again.
Just traded my 2019 Silverado Z71 LTZ for a 2021 Lariat Powerboost and it's a better truck in EVERY way.

I love you guys but this time I gotta say something. You always complain that the Raptor is too wide, too large, and difficult to manage on the trail. However, you bang the Chevrolet because they didn’t go wide-body. I’m a Ford guy all the way, but I understand the market the ZR2 to targeted to. Nothing but love.
GMC Sierra trucks are hands down the best looking trucks on the road in my opinion. I currently own a 2020 Sierra 1500 SLT, X31 and it's the most comfortable, fun to drive and efficient truck I've owned over my 40 years buying trucks. The 10 speed transmission (as long as it's as reliable as previous trannies) is amazing. It pulls my 8,000 Lb. Boat with ease and comfort, not pulling anything it gets between 20 - 23 mph depending on wind and it's very comfortable. Having said all this, GMC is getting out of control with there packages in the Sierra. What's coming next? The Denali/Ultimate/Extra plush? Then the Denali/Ultimate/Extra Plush/X31/King, I'm loaded got everything we can think of package?

@@tuiyadranawaqs4427 absolutely. Its too big like the Tundra, but the fact that a part of it is on the HOOD?! gross design and those day time running lights look empty and forced.
It has no aggressive look like the Ram 1500 Limited.

I'm glad that GM is still keeping the V8 engine option alive ,in there full size pickup trucks, but the only thing they still need to do is offer a hybrid with the V8 To give it more power and Efficiency ,plus more power from there N/A V8 engines !! And for people that want a electric version they can offer that too, plus a Panoramic Sunroof !!!
Dark chrome is AWESOME! Great way to do chrome without it being obnoxious. And a front locker? wow!
I do a decent amount of towing, and have had 2-3.5 ecos, a 2011 XLT and 2015 Lariat (both Gen 1's) both proved to be ultra tough and great toters. I traded the 11' at 98K for the 15', I love the way they torque along for hours at a time like a stout diesel even though they are a gasser. My 15' did break and exhaust manifold bolt at 85K but that's the only real downtime I've experienced and it only has 92K on it so instead of trading it I kept (it also has the 6.5' box which is like finding a needle in a haystack unless one special orders). In November I purchased a Lariat Powerboost and as of today it has 2,057 miles on it. I'm still learning things about it but I've been very happy with it so far. The performance characteristics are so very different than the 2 previous versions, the small amount of required throttle input to achieve the same rate of acceleration is quite a contrast due to the electric assist so I really have to step on it to even get turbo boost to register on the gauge, and when I really lay the whoop to it the acceleration is nothing short of amazing for a stock 1/2 ton, I've never experienced anything like it. I'm anxious to hitch up and tow for a few hours.

Column shifters suck. For someone that likes to shift his own gears in the mountains and while towing, I’m glad I installed the F150 console shifter into my F350 Tremor.

If they expect their customers to tow a trailer, why did they shrink the fuel tank from 26 to 24 gallons? I mean, the new Tundra has 32 gallons! Also, I wish you could spec the AT4X with Super Cruise, but it looks to be reserved for Denali and Denali Ultimate….
I drive a 1999 Dakota R/T , and also have a 1998 Dakota SLT for my landscaping business. I will NEVER purchase a new truck, because I do not want to have to break out a fireman's ladder every time I need to get something in and out of my truck. Trucks are not geared for the convenience of the working man, they are now geared to try and make suburbanite pencil pushers feel all macho and tough with their aggressive styling, but ALWAYS with that full back seat and 4 doors so the children can ride.

The refresh is nice overall, but I've never liked the Sierra 1500's wheel arches on the 2019+ models.
The F150 Limited Powerboost is a better buy at 80k. 7.2 kw generator, massaging seats and will also not only drive itself down the road with Blue Cruise, but back up your trailer as well. Not to mention, power up and down tailgate and interior work surface, max recline seats...the list goes on.
But I love this new GMC and I don't think many GM loyalists will miss what it lacks to Ford.
While we are on pickup trucks, it is easy to make a heavy half ton. Everyone does not want a 2500. I would rather have a 1500 with a 2.7 turbo, 7.37 rear, brakes like a 2500 and air bags on the rear so when I go camping it is with confidence.
It is ok, what i don´t like much is that smiling front end, personally like more square fronts, else the truck is a beauty.
