  • The Nest House is located in a residential area of Bangalore with roads on two sides, north and west, making it a corner plot. A tree in the juncture of the corner led to the idea of a curvature to break the rigidity of the corner plot and create dynamism in the spaces inside.
A striking feature of the house is a double height courtyard on the east, nestled well within the curvature. This space is wrapped in steel fabrication that creates an interesting play light and shadow throughout the day.
The facade is a neat composition of cement finish, fabrication, and mud plaster. The use of local red soil to achieve this gives a reddish orange tinge adding warmth to the elevation. While the north side permits light and ventilation, the western side has minimum openings to protect the interiors from harsh western sunlight. Due to this, there are no fans or air conditioners installed on the first floor of the house.
To download the full PDF eBook of Nest House in Bengaluru with floor plans, materials used, construction techniques and so much more, please visit:
    www.buildofy.com/projects/nes...
An open floor plan, monotone colour palette, mud plastered walls, and ample greenery inside are some key highlights of the project. The architects walk through the house, giving an insight into various details and materials and how they designed this compact house without compromising on natural light and spatial comfort.

The best thing about this house is that the security of the house is not compromised by the design element, which most of architects are not considering these days. They put glasses everywhere. Security glasses can not provide you a level of security as much as concrete and iron/steel structures do.

Beautiful house. Love the greenery and the style quotient of the building and the feeling of openness. Structurally looks very nice and contemporary and stylish. However the interior of the house looks much to be desired especially the furniture. The bedroom wardrobe looks like a major let down. Looks like a completely different team did the woodwork and another team did everything else - there's no continuity.
Also the large cooking island becoming a dining area might help if you want to have a quick breakfast. But wouldn't be convenient when you are hosting guests or when the kitchen is cluttered. Looks self defeating in a way. The rest of the house especially the greenery is stand out amazing❤

I feel one problem with steel structures is corrosion which would be accelerated due to the plants at various levels. While initially the project may look good it won’t age well while retaining the initial beauty unless lots of maintenance is carried out both on the structure and the garden .

However, I have a question regarding the rainy season. I am curious to know how they have planned for it as it might affect the spaces in some way.

Lovely but like so many of these new houses, especially in smaller plots, I see no lifts. When you're building houses with multiple floors and do not have lifts, it is going to get really tough in later years of life. After spending crores and suffering later on in life seems really dumb imo. I do not understand why people do not understand this. When you're building such houses you might be in your forties but what will you do in few year's time? Knee pain etc is common these days.
ANyone reading this who has plans of constructing their own house, please factor in physical weakness etc and get a lift. Doesn't cost a lot but will be a boon.
