@Flashvette The HFE sounds good but the problem is it still does not guarantee the transistor will amplify RF, i recently had to replace a 2SC2166 in a radio which had a good HFE and junction but for some reason would not amplify RF as i found out when i tested it in another radio and it was the original transistor from when the radio was new - i replaced it with a new one and the radio worked fine.
In this video you can see the fake transistors have a good HFE but they don't amplify RF!

great video, mate! thanks for posting. I remember the haydays of Sony trinitron tvs, they were heavy on using 'SG' horizontal out transistors, they were very expensive and the market was just flooded with fakes. Would seem to test good on the meter, but once you installed it, they would either blow immediately or work a few hours or days and blow.

Very useful PSA but I have a question, where can you find the real Eleflow 2SC1969 RF output transistors in small quantities? All I have found is the original company which does not seem to sell in quantities of less than 1,000 or so. By the way, they are also used in the Radioshack HTX-10 transceiver which was sold here in the US.

Hi Weazle. I just purchased 2, 2sc2166 and 2, 2sc1945 transistors from you. But I dont know if that is the problem. I was on the Defpom forum and a fellow had the same no transmit problem as I do. Turned out that his transistors were good. The fault was C60 which is in parallel with C75, it was reading 90 Ohms
on a Fluke 189 DVM. I will use them or keep them in stock for future problems. I intend to keep my HR2510 for life. Thanks.

@codeartha You will need to test the transistor in a RF circuit or with a RF transistor tester.

I can supply small quantities and i have 2SC1969 on Ebay, I have the Eleflow original as CB-20W or HFR-20W.

For some reason, the real LARGE screen Mitsubishi TV CRT output modules can go up to 32 MHz, and the 46" sets can do well over 2000 watts RF!
There is just something about Mitsubishi.
The 36"/38" sets will do well over 600 watts RF, and the Mitsubishi FLAT BACK sets have an independent power supply for the HV and and an independent PS for the audio, they have FLAT external heat sinks on the back.

What kind of transistor do you think those fakes were? Audio power amps, maybe?

Hi. I think I found the data sheets. The 2SC2166 specs are min-35, Typ-70, max 180. The MRF 477 is min 20, Typ 70. If I am reading this right. It looks like my transistors are within spec. Must be something else.I dont know where to go from here. I really want to learn how to fix it. No transmit in am,fm,usb or lsb. BTW. My meter was pinned and wacky. I found a few circuit board screws that were loose and now my meter works fine.

Thank you for useful info. But I don't have this fancy gizmo as you got, is there anyway other way that I can test transistor on my meter or build a Transistor tester accurately?

You have to look under "INTERNATIONAL SELLERS" if you are searching on US Ebay the international sellers are listed at the end of all the other listings - i know as i have done the search on Ebay USA myself.

Same with Big Screen Mitsubishi Tv's if you try to replace the Horizontal Output Transistor with a sub it with blow up. You have to use a Mitsubishi factory part.

I have a Storker 360 with dual outputs of 2 2SC2312 and the output is dead, whats the cheapest way to get some power out of this radio again.

Another way to tell the difference is that the fake ones are usually polished shiny and the real ones are dull.

2SC1969-DIV ????? no such thing and i know which ones you are talking about....no comment!
      CB-20W = 2SC1969 Eleflow = very good! ....i should know!

Well, I have the same problem, I bought a lot of 100 2SC2069 from China to MAXSOURCE CO. and work well only in low frequency, look like more and audio transistor than a RF transistor. The price was US$0.55 each but I think they sent to me other with this number, jejejejejejeje
I failed, I lost my money, it's a big mistake
    Beware with the Chinese business...
