A very thorough investigation. What chance does anyone have of finding legitimate transistors, with these sort of results? Pretty slim, I'd imagine.

Hi I'm sure there is a more scientific ways of doing this but to me this proved a point that certain sellers cannot be trusted . Maybe there is some New old stock somewhere who knows.

What you are trying are audio amp transistors like the 2sc1173, produce 3 watts in a CB set but get really hot really quick.

Most probably . They went in the bin shortly after .

If you know where to purchase the real equivalents its not a problem, but genuine Mitsubishi have not been made since 2006, and are non-existent.

The new HG 1969 is a pretty good replacement part.

These transistors are not regular rf-types, and then they differ greatly from manufacturer to manufacturer. Lock at the tester and find similar b-value (voltage gain) and similar input /output capacitances. Other types need retuning in a specific environment. Good luck.

Most of these were just rubbish that found, clearly fake .

The original Transistors of the old times are never laser engraved. They were always printed with paint.
