Appreciate the tips and attention to the subject matter. Counterfeits are definitely an issue.
Thank you. I enjoy exposing this and keeping people up to date on the issue.
This is why I only buy from certain vendors, the one time I tried to score a deal for a client who was hurting with the quote it backfired, and I am now covering that loss, cuz in the end I pulled the trigger. Good video
A good vendor will be able to provide you X-ray evaluations of their transistors.
A good old LCR and a good old Tektronix curve tracer will reveal the truth. RF finals are one of the worst to get stung on at $100-$1,000 each. Lots of what I buy is obsolete and NLA from most legit suppliers.
Most interesting information, R&D departments should be across this issue, cheers.
Thank you for the channel support. They are getting a little better at making them look authentic. I recently had a 5k amplifier in that another tech could not get running. When it came in I instantly recognized the fake output transistors he installed.
@@ellensburgamplifierThe onus is on the manufacturer to destroy components immediately after they have failed the QA process.
@@ricksampson6780 I think this is where we see all the re-pined transistors come from? I would think the manufacture would put it through a shredder.
Fantastic content as always Todd! Thanks for this!
Thank you Brian for the support!
Why aren't the reputable companies selling on the regular sites
I guess it depends on what you mean by regular sites. Reputable distributors don't list their parts outside of their websites (thank goodness!)
It's a big issue. So easy for rogue manufacture's to deceive and many do. You could have included a few simple electrical tests to point novice like me in the right direction. On resistance is easy for example.
Unless it was pulled from a unit:their all fakes.if part is not in current production, its gonna be fake.
Companies xray them now to compare against the known real model. Was a big and continuing issue during covid when companies were third party bidding on lots of parts. Pays to know your source!
OH yah great great video thanks you for explaining 👍 👍 🙏 🙏
Utsource’s sell only original parts
Where can i buy genuine parts
Mouser, Digikey, LCSC, Newark, and Arrow are a few places to get parts from.
@@ellensburgamplifierhow's utsource?
@@Islandboyzadventure I received the wrong parts (with the other customers invoice) and they did nothing to rectify the problem also I have received counterfeit parts from them so I will never purchase from them again.
Ok out of the list you post which have the best stock and shipping ?
Looking some irs2093m
Hi..can you put romanian translate also?thx
Thank you for the feedback and I will see how to do that.
You wouldn't happen to have a source for two IRFB31N20D would you? They've been EOL'd.
I couldn't justify the $40 (after shipping) Arrow wanted for their last 2 FETs and they sold out before I had time to finish compiling a proper order.
I hunted high and low in 2019 for a good source. the 31N20D is a tricky one. I think I have a video on how to properly identify one. Unfortunately, I do not know of a good source now. I bought out what I could find back then.
@@ellensburgamplifier Shame. I suppose I'll either have to scrap it or try my luck finding a sub. Thanks for the reply!
The cost of original parts cost 3 time I buy mosfet for 5 dollars per one and 12 dollars for igbt
