    Here is an edit for you guys asking about "The line that is marked/engraved on the spool" Yea it's all personal preference but that mark on the spool is a good reference point to spool up just past that line if you are targeting something for maximum accuracy. Especially using light crank baits. I primarily crank with this reel and it's hits on a dime. It's great because you don't need to use much line to flip/ skip a jig or crank specific targets. Especially for respooling before events, it's no big deal to respool. Cost is minimal. Depending on your technique you can absolutely put as much line on the reel as you want. The sv system works to its maximum performance if you dont over spool too much.

    The tat is incredible. Actually the tat and my coastalnuse 7075 aluminum spools instead of the duraluminum in the z. Whatever that alloy boils down to. The z also has both bearings on the spool which might be the slight weight difference. And might be whats behind the svBOOST instead of sv like my tat and coastal. Supposed to be "free floating" on the z. Probably also why the lack of the rod running out of spool on the z. All diawas are killer. Same with shimano. Same with lews if you stay away from mach series. My speed spool lfs is way better than the top mach series. They made to target kids with the names and colors and cheaper graphite frames. And p.s. Adjust ya zero adjuster to the spool tension you like. Keep mine right under being sloppy like yours was. My coastals was pretty close to right but still needed adjusted.

      It says in the Tatula specs that the spool is made with "Super durilumin"
      Also yes i have already broken the rules and adjusted the zero adjuster. You are right, it works exactly the same as a spool tension knob. Tight lines!

    I’m not sure if your correct about the reference line on the spool to fill the line too. I believe that line is if you want to do finesse application. 4 or 6 lb test line and quiet presentation. If you want to fill the spool 1/16 from the bevel on the spool you’ll get distant casting.

      More line the heavier the spool gets. Heavier spool is not better for long distance.

    The plastic drag star doesn't make a difference in performance, it does reduce weight. In higher end reels they usually make them lighter. Probably why it's plastic.

    One of the key feature to get a 2021 Zillion sv is the SV boost system. I think you should put smaller diameter line to fill up more line in that spool to really put their braking system to the test for long casting distance between the old SV and new SV boost. For bass fishing is fine, but for salt, 135 feet of line is just not enough, I usually spool up 165 yard of PE1.5 braid on my tatula sv, it can easily reach 135 feet on 1/2oz lure. You're video is great, but just missing the review of SV boost system.

    • @dktourfishing
      @dktourfishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey yes you are right about filling the spool up more. This video was when got my first Zillion so i was just trying to do an even comparison. Now that i have fished a ton with both, I feel like I should do a follow up on this video. The zillions still run smooth and quiet. The tatulas are all due for maintenance, they feel gritty. I still use and prefer them for throwing crankbaits but they need routine service.

    • @dktourfishing
      @dktourfishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I were to redo the cast test i would fill the spool more and i would also use a light crankbait.

    Definitely remove play in any tatula by using the zero adjustment by engaging the spool then adjusting the spool tension knob till spool play is just too no play

    I want a tatula sv 103 limited or a zillion but I don’t know what version to get besides I know I’ll get a JDM version of what ever one I am getting, I want a rod with a lot of Bend or action so I can whip the lures easily, lots of guys have too stiff a rod and end up not being able to cast well especially with lighter lures.

      They are both good for their value. If you are on a tighter budget go with the Tatula sv. You can almost buy two for the peice of one zillion. If you do not have a tight budget go with the zillion, it is more refined.

    Adjusted the zero adjuster after few casts 😁it was very loose from the factory..it still handles 15LB (0,13mm) braid excellent, being loose or tight.
    Love how stiff the zero adjuster is; less chance for spool tension to become lose over time causing those dreaded overruns

    How does the new Tat Sv compare to the old model?

    • @dktourfishing
      @dktourfishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have not fished with the old model but i can tell you from my research that the old model is a bit of a bulkier reel. They both have sv spools but the newer one is believed to handle light lures even better. Like small crank baits.

    Or would i have to send it in.what's the purpose of the zero knob

    • @dktourfishing
      @dktourfishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The zero adjuster is simply a spool tension knob. It is preset from the factory for optimal use. I have found that you can adjust it just like a spool tension knob no worries.

    Is there a difference between the jdm and us models?

    • @dktourfishing
      @dktourfishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, there are a few with the zillion. The one that stands out to me most is the gears because quality was comprimised here. The jdm has aluminum gears and the US version has brass gears. Brass is stronger. The jdm market claims that they used aluminum on the Zillion because the bass are not as big is Japan. (That is the reasoning my research has lead me to anyway.)

But then I havn't put a lot of research into it. Anyway I went with the JDM version made in Japan, the US model is made elsewhere, Thailand as I recall.
