      $1300 for Dell XPS 13 9345 vs $1400 for Asus Zenbook S 16 with AMD AI 9 365? Asus laptop runs faster, won’t need emulation, bigger screen, & 8G more memory! Are you sure?

      Well, Dell has agreements with intel to use their chips on almost all their products.
      There’s no way otherwise that they would put a 13th gen intel chip in their Alienware x14 laptop when they had a total power budget of 130W.

    You mentioned that you didn't get the OLED display because you didn't want the additional battery drain. However, I've heard through the grapevines that the snapdragon variants of the XPS 13 opt for a tandem OLED display, so it's likely that the displays aren't as much of a battery drain. However, noone's tested them yet, so it could just be inaccurate info

    • @troy5568
      @troy5568 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's most likely that the power drawn by the tandem OLED will be the same as a conventional single OLED panel at a certain brightness, but because you have two OLED panels stacked together to produce a certain brightness level, you don't degrade each of the two OLED panels as much as if it was just a single OLED panel pushing out the same brightness level. This means the lifespan will be extended significantly for each OLED panel, and it won't suffer from burn-in as quickly as a single OLED panel.

    Biggest crime of this laptop is the fact they got rid of the function row and made software based function keys.
    I thought we learned this lesson from mac books. Beyond just the typical feedback of not knowing which key your hitting, your just introducing more potential issues down the line that would likely be easier to fix if the keys were physical.
    Otherwise, I really do hope that this particular line up does well with the snapdragon processors. The biggest issues of the XPS line up has always been thermals. Hopefully down the line as windows on arm works itself out, these can become real competitors on the market, because I'd still argue dell makes some the best designed laptops on the market.

    • @TalesOfWar
      @TalesOfWar 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They don't even look like they function as anything else either, unlike on the Macs where they were an actual screen which could dynamically change based on the app you're using. These just look to be single use capacitive "buttons".
      I can see another case where the best Windows laptop is a Mac again once Windows on ARM gets some proper traction and better support. Apple said they weren't against doing the whole Boot Camp thing again, they just need a version of Windows that will officially run on the things. I think Qualcomm have an exclusivity agreement with Microsoft right now so far as bare metal ARM support goes.

    The plethora of stickers you get on most Windows pre-built and OEM machines are there because they're paid for them. They can take a few bucks off their cost prices as it's classed as advertising. I think some of the original Surface laptops had them engraved somewhere so it's there, but less obvious. I think the Dell Adamo did the same too but with a little pull out tab. For those whoa aren't old like I am, that was their answer to the original MacBook Air, only the specs weren't as impressive and it actually cost more than the Mac lol. It was before the "Ultrabook" thing really took off (which Intel invented literally to sell their low power mobile CPU's to other OEM's than Apple because PC builders generally don't bother with premium margin kit).
    Also that keyboard looks pretty horrible with the spacing.

      This thing looks like it's just capacitive buttons rather than an actual screen that changes like on the MacBook Pro's. So far less useful.

    Touch Esc button destroyed XPSes to me. I'll skip all of them untill DELL bring normal keyboard back.

    This device, although it looks nice, is overpriced in comparison to other Snapdragon units, and gets WAY hotter than other Snapdragon units because of the poor cooling solution, only venting directly out the back with very small ports. You will notice that after you use it for a while.

    13“ is for mobile use. The persons who buy 17“ laptops, better should go with real PC and external monitor.😊

    No ESC key, just only 2 USB-c ports (not even 3.5 mm for audio). Awesome design. OK. But not worth it for the price.
