Well done, Amy! All of these steps you are taking will make you better in the long run (and not just as a bicyclist). Keep plugging along and have a goal to improve a little every time. You're killin' it!
Amy, this great!. Here in America, they don’t get it. I bought a Single Gear Track bike, for the same purpose. Intending to race around the oval, at the local school, all by lonesome.
Just came across your channel last week Amy. Its brilliant! Your a natural and your definitely inspiring me to push myself a little further. Thanks a mill 👍
I agree with this! I'm a newbie to the channel, too - who gives a damn where you come as long as you enjoy it, try your best and learn. That's a pretty good philosophy for life.
Well done for giving it a go, I always found Darley to be cold and windy even in the middle of summer. Give Mallory Park a try, bit better for those of us built for climbing rather than sprinting.
Good things to put a bit of speed into the legs. The long steady mile events can take that edge off a bit. Bit safer than the old Town Centre races we used to ride with straw bales every corner and people running across the course mid race etc etc..
Great first effort. Sounds like you started to "HOT" and didn't allow the Cod Loins to fully warm up. I do that on my 10mile time trial efforts. I have to calm my skin down for the first 5 mins or so.
Well done Amy.. you'll learn to ride these Crits ! You are strong enough to go with the front girls. I started racing late (47) and made 3rd cat but wished I'd started early like you.. you will see yourself going from strength to strength.. don't be afraid to get the cals and plenty of protein in .. P.s. what's happened to Kyle ?!! He has dropped so much timber?! Loving the videos ❤
With the endurance base you have, you'd probably slay other 3rd cats in longer road races. The problem will be finding a women cat 3 only event of sufficient distance (and probably hilly terrain) to suit you without being swamped by 1st and 2nd cats.
Amy - you must cycle everyday to do cries and 600km rides and look as fresh as a daisy at the end of any cycle event you do - can you give us a week in the life of Amy’s cycling diary as you are pretty awe inspiring the amount of miles you do on a flapjack👍😀
Currently off the bike due to a crash and I've dislocated my shoulder ,I miss riding, thinking about trying crit racing , what's the lowest and what's the highest category , I'd definitely be in the lowest but looks like fun
Oh no, so sorry to hear that, hope you recover well! In racing you start at cat 4, it then goes 3,2,1 and Elite. There’s more mens races than women’s going on so if you find yourself a cat 4 only race they’re great to start with, or a cat 3/4, you move up to cat 3 if you get 12 points in a season (you get 10 points if you win a race ☺️ top 10 riders get points). If you look on British cycling website it tells you all about it there - I’m fairly new to it all!
Surely it’s not just me that hates the sound of those noisy hubs? Some are like bees chasing you. Was fine on a bmx in the 80’s. Road bikes should be silent apart from the odd creak and humming 😅
Hiya, thanks for watching :D I'm no expert by any standard but I'd say join a local club to get some group ride practice in (that will help with confidence and make you safer in a race). Then see if you can find a cat 4 only race to start with (you start at cat 4, there aren't many cat 4 only races around but they're the best to start out with, if not a cat 3/4) - main thing is enjoy yourself!
Instead of more GoPro batteries get the GoPro pass through door and a powerbank. That'll give you hours of recording, an Anker 13,000mah pb will let you record for around 10 hours.
For a few seconds there the new camera woman / commentator was slaying the game, then... kaput 😅 Was hoping for a doppler effect 'yippeeee' as you went flying past, but no joy. 😢
I Think a 60 km road race with a climb in it might be better for you than a crit any way good luck im shouting for you Amy no matter what 3;24 ok i watch you race now carbs and more carbs two hours to go.
Definite case of it's the taking part, glad you had fun, enjoy your holiday

Thank you Dan ☺
👍👍👍👍👍 and Kyle the marshal says: "respect my authority!"

At least they'll hear you coming with those Scribes!!!. I love mine, everyone turns around to see what the noise is 😊
Another wonderfully inspirational video.
Thank you 🫶 just hope to get others out riding however they enjoy!
Good to try stuff that is different. .. Macc wheeler's are doing hill climbs every Friday if you fancy doing one of them and are in Macclesfield area
Ohh thank you I’ll have a look!

Thank you so much Owen, glad you like the channel, enjoy your rides! 😃

Proud of you Amy
Thank you ☺
You’re making progress. Well done!👍
Gp on Amy!!!!
I did a crit race last night. Wow what an effort! I was 11th out of 14 but I'll be back for more and improve on the technique.
That's awesome!
Great fun :-)
Well done Amy and good on you, its not the winning it's the taking part. 😁😁
Crits look like a blast - deffo going to give them a try next season here in South Africa - I'll be 58 then - never to late to have fun!
Amazing, enjoy!!
Watching again👍🚴 take care
Well done Amy, looks like a great race series put on by Velo Bavarian!! 💙
It is! :D
Excellent!
Awesome mate!
Well done for giving it a go, I always found Darley to be cold and windy even in the middle of summer. Give Mallory Park a try, bit better for those of us built for climbing rather than sprinting.
Oh thank you, I'll have a look out for races there :)
I wish I had known you were racing this, I would have come and given you some support

Yes good to get pushing a little faster! Wow yea that sounds risky😅
Another fab video 👍👍 xx

Thank you so much! I'll keep trying but long distance is defo where my love lies!
Thanks for watching and awesome that you race!

Yes it's hard to find races especially women only ones! Thanks for watching :D
I'd get bored going round and round a track. Great effort though. 👍

No SHEEEEEPIE this time!
I know!! Funnily enough there were cows in a field in the middle of the circuit, but I didn't get chance to wave to them 🤣
Surely it’s not just me that hates the sound of those noisy hubs? Some are like bees chasing you. Was fine on a bmx in the 80’s. Road bikes should be silent apart from the odd creak and humming 😅
Alez alez alez!
Great video Amy. How does someone with limited racing experience get to the point of entering their first Crit race? Any tips?

Oh and you can find the races on British Cycling under events :)
Amazing advice Amy. Appreciate it. Keeping on rolling, enjoy the sunshine this weekend! 😎☀️

Its taking part Amy, are you there on the 23 June?
Awesome! Yes I will be ☺️
Are you racing??
@@amy.cycling.adventures No but you will see me on the start line
@@GrahamWP58 awesome! Were you at the last one?
@@amy.cycling.adventures sorry no I was working
For a few seconds there the new camera woman / commentator was slaying the game, then... kaput 😅 Was hoping for a doppler effect 'yippeeee' as you went flying past, but no joy. 😢
You may have come last Amy but I would put a very big wadge of cash on the table that non of them could outride you on distance !!!
😅 haha thanks! All about taking part 🙌

"Give it a go!" What more do you need to say? 😊
"Just go flat out"
