    Great video! I love the exercises, however I do think that hand feeding the shuttles like how you demo-ed takes a great deal of timing, which my guess is gonna be hard for lots of people! Nonetheless the exercises look good!
    Curious question, what do you think of hard (heavier) split steps vs soft split steps? Would love to hear your inputs!

      Hello Gerald and BG badminton academy,
      We have been following your work the last months. Very good content! Cool that you reach out to us :-)
      The hand feeding is actually not that difficult, you just have to count. Then the player knows when to jump and the timing is much easier.
      What do you mean with heavy / light split steps? Is it the defence/offence or the 'wide' stand.
      Best regards

      @@ShuttleLife Aww shucks, thanks for the kind words. I'm really honored to hear that you follow my work!
      Hahaha I don't have an issue with hand feeding, but I work with quite a few coaches weekly. (Training the coaches) So just by looking at the way you feed, it takes good timing which a lot of coaches have to practice to get it nailed down as you did!
      Hmm, I'm thinking of doing a video reply on my Wednesday chat session (like me demonstrating it ) and possibly quoting you guys to hear what you guys have to say about it.
      What I meant by heavy split steps are like those that Peter uses in his footwork tutorials (drives his knee pretty high and stomps with a lot of force), and by light split steps, I meant those that are used by your friend. Here's a link of his vid, you'll get what I mean th-cam.com/video/3CicUXRNqHU/w-d-xo.html
      I'm genuinely curious because I still can't figure out if there are tangible differences (*Deep thoughts expression 🤔) a lot of Malaysian nat players uses heavy split step too! I was taught split steps similar to those of what you teach, thus would really like to hear what you think about this heavy vs light split step.

      It might be something you use for the front court in the defence.. Some way. If you perform a lift, you will reach the middle and time the heavy split step exactly as the opponent hits the shuttle. Then you are deeper due to the defense, but still get the power from a split step. If you reaches the middle before your opponent hit the shuttle, you can't really perform a split step and benefit from it.
      It might have something to do with that? 🤔
      Is there any videos of the deep split step towards the rear court?
      - Would love to see a video about this topic 😎
      Best regards

      @@ShuttleLife I don't have a video of players doing that, but I definitely have seen lots of competitive players train that way and I just saw one last week, which made me wonder!
      Alrighty, till next week!

    Another good video! Everyone stresses the importance of the split-step, but can you tell us about the exact TIMING of it: when do we launch and land the split-step in relation to the opponent hitting the shutle?

    • @ShuttleLife
      @ShuttleLife  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You land just After when the opponent hit the shuttle. Otherwise you don't know where to go 👍💪

    • @PlayFasterThanYourShadow
      @PlayFasterThanYourShadow 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Exactly, you cannot go anywhere before knowing where to go. There already are some Exercises shown that start to teach a rhythm. When talking about rhythm, it means that you want to adjust your footwork according to your shot, so that the last step to the center can be the new split step! Start with the basics until you get them right, then move on.
